  1. My biggest NSV is to be able to find a pair of knee high boots in a normal store. Another is to ride Dragon Challenge at universal Orlando! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. For starters: Being able to play with my 8-yr old son more. He just came in the room and told me "your the best dad ever." All three of my kids are great but I've gotten better now since my wife and I have 3 (no more!) I just want to run and play with my baby. Take walks with him, take him to the zoo, hiking in caverns, and go to his school to pick him up without feeling self conscious about how I look. This is my #1 NSV DSLdiversity

    Week 3 stall

@@BigReid21 - that's hard to say, stalls vary in length of time. stay focused and it will pass and be prepared for the next stall. they happen. if you haven't measured yourself, do it now. you may be losing inches when the scale isn't moving- NSV!

Major NSV. Probably one of the best feel good ones so far.

That is a fantastic NSV. More importantly thank you for all of your back breaking work to help the people who, unfortunately, so desperately need it right now.

We are 772.4 lbs from our collective goal. I have seen quite a few posts about stalls and frustrations etc so just know – we have all been there and we are all rooting for you! You can do anything you set your mind to – and remember – the scale is just a number… I know I personally have a hard time remembering that. I did my weigh in for 6/27 on 6/27 and met my goal for the challenge and I was super excited. I weighed on Friday and I was up 2.6 pounds. It made me upset, but it gave me pause to re-examine what I was eating differently or exercising differently – or come to a decision I was in a stall – Well – I ate off diet a few days when i went back and reviewed – so that was a wake up call – and helped me go back on track – I have decided to look for NSVs (non scale victories) while I get back to weight loss. And yesterday I was able to do a new walk/run path with hills (and running) on it that I had been avoiding and I am SUPER PROUD of myself for that small accomplishment. Before my surgery in March I would have been exhausted just looking at the hill. So for all of you in a slump or perhaps will be a little off after the 4th of July holiday – Keep in mind that it a marathon not a sprint and you are AMAZING just for starting the race in the first place! Have a great and healthy week! @goplay94123

Major NSV. Probably one of the best feel good ones so far.

What a wonderful achievement to have gained all that self confidence and to have the energy to do this.I am sure those folks in WV will be so very grateful. I too have been collecting things for them all week. I live just by the VA WV border about 40 mins from the devastated area. We were told yesterday they don't want more donations at the min as they have no place to store them. However, I expect churches (not FEMA or the Red Cross) will still accept them. Going to work on checking that out. Roads are so bad in some places is it very hard to get in and out. I hope you are as proud of yourself as the people are grateful to you. Certainly not a NSV you could ever have expected or planned.
  8. I have spent the last week taking donations and loading an 18 wheeler for flood victims in WVa. We've worked from 9a-8p each day in 90+ degree heat. I NEVER would have been able to pull even one day before WLS. I have been interviewed with two news stations (ABC and CBS) and I have been in an assload of media pictures. In an attempt to garner more attention, I have live streamed throughout each day encouraging people to come out and help. Before WLS, I hated being in front of a camera and would have NEVER done even a moment of that. Over the week, I happily visited various businesses and asked for donations, even while sweaty and sort of a wreck. Before WLS, I didn't go anywhere with a hair out of place. I was always a fit, confident person, but I was also always very self aware and self conscious of my appearance. Losing this weight has given me the freedom to just DO without thinking about how I look doing it. Freedom. It's a beautiful thing. One truck filled to the brim, two more weeks of hard work ahead!

Mermaid out of water! (My journey)

Figured I'd give myself a little bit of an update. SW:289 CW:254.8 GW:150 NSV: pair of shorts are falling off of me! As I go ahead moving on this journey, I do not know if I want my goal weight to be 150. I will see how my body goes and find a weight that I will be comfortable with. Going back to work is really hard, I've been having intense stomach pains that only happen there. It might be from the anxiety I feel about my job in general. I fit in the bath!

I hear you. A bath is such a pleasure for me. One of my big NSVs post-op was the day I was able to get back down into and back UP OUT OF the bathtub. (My knees / legs were so weak after being heavy for so long it took a while for their increasing post-op strength to match my decreasing post-op weight.)

    Fabulous NSV....whats yours ?

Medium!! Isn't that awesome?! Congrats! My NSV is size this week too. I finally couldn't take the bagginess anymore and took myself to get some shorts, wearing the same size 24 capris that I was wearing last summer-- but were getting ridiculously baggy. I have been losing a lot recently, so I didn't want to spend a bunch on new clothes that might not fit next month, so I went to the salvation army store and searched high and low for shorts and capris that I liked.. I could only find one pair that were size 20 but looked smaller, I got 4 size 18 and 5 in size 16 so I would have some stuff on hand. I got home and tried everything on-- the 18's were the perfect fit! And the 16's are closer to fitting than I ever thought they would be. I can see them on the horizon

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Hi all. Here's my latest NSV. First though, I will start with an SV. I hit Onederland!!! I have now lost 86.9 pounds total. That SV sets the stage for my NSV! I attended a birthday party of a good friend who I hadn't seen much of lately. WE both have very busy lives and hadn't gotten together since January. Not only that, but most of my friends who I know through him I hadn't seen since before surgery. The number of double takes, not to mention people who never quite seemed to figure out who I was, was such a surprise to me. In fact, one of the guys who didn't seem to get it figured out, usually gives me a hug when I see him, but I barely got a hi out of him last night and he seemed like he couldn't quite place me! It was pretty crazy. I guess I see myself everyday in the mirror so although I am smaller, I just don't see THAT much difference in overall looks, just smaller space occupation! I guess its kind of remarkable when you haven't look at it in the mirror everyday! pam
  20. Here's my "knees and WLS testimony." I had WLS at 68 years of age. My knees were a complete mess -- especially the right one. The most I could bend them was a 45 degree angle. For years, my knee x-rays looked like gravel bars -- full of stuff that had shredded off the cartilage and mineral deposits that had accreted around those bits and pieces making them even larger. And yes, I had very bad knee pain when I was heavier and had suffered for years. Sometimes the pain was so bad I even had to use a cane. I'd discussed knee replacement surgery with my PCP, but hadn't gotten to the point of scheduling it. But I knew it was in my future. Then I had WLS at 235.6 pounds. I set my weight goal at 150 pounds, which I hadn't weighed in 40 years! At 5'5" a normal BMI for me started at 149 pounds. I didn't care -- 150 pounds seemed like a nice round number. BTW, I stopped taking Aleve and all other NSAIDs a few months prior to WLS. Yes, my knees hurt, but a few weeks after stopping the NSAID I realized they didn't hurt anymore than they had on the Aleve. Fascinating, eh? Eventually, 8.5 months after surgery, my scales rolled down to 150 pounds. I was at goal. By that point, needless to say, my knees felt a lot better. I wasn't doing black diamond runs, but I was walking up to 5 miles a day -- and fast. They still didn't bend anymore than they had before, but they were a lot more functional. One of my health goals for that first year post-op was to be able to walk up and down my front steps without holding on to anything, a goal I blew right by! I no longer felt like an old lady. So at 150 pounds I upped my calories to 1700 and started to maintain. But I slowly, slowly kept losing weight -- 1 or 2 pounds a month for the next 8 months. Eventually, my body stopped losing weight at 135 pounds. IT WAS THOSE LAST 15 POUNDS I LOST THAT MADE THE GREATEST DIFFERENCE IN MY KNEES! No, they still don't bend anymore than they once did. But at 70 years of age I am working hard (in yoga) on increasing my flexibility. My PCP told me to take knee surgery off the agenda completely -- I don't need it anymore. I can walk as far as I want and as long as it's still light outside. I can even jog a little. Not saying anyone else would or could have this result. But this was mine. It is one of my greatest NSVs from WLS.
  21. Last year this time I was frantically getting ready for surgery and focusing on getting my business in a position it could run itself for the 6 weeks I thought I might be out of commission. Turned out I only ended up not working for about a day Anyway, last year I went to a summer fair 4th of July weekend and walking around and stuff was pretty tough. It was hot and humid and I was carry my portable chair with me for concerts. It was hellish. This year I am down over 135lbs from my high weight and bursting with ungodly amounts of energy. I plan on having a good time this weekend. This includes kayaking, bike riding, and climbing those hills at that summer festival that killed me last year with ease this year. What are you doing?
  22. Hello! 187.2 this week. Whaaaat? NSV: I bought a bathing suit in a size large and I don't look half bad in it - haha! Thank you for running the challenge! Have a great week all!

Question for veterans - hardest part for you?

I'm 14 months out but I remember stressing about changing everything about how I ate. In the end, this new way of eating feels comfortable now and i can't imagine going back to my old habits. My biggest struggle is going to the gym because it's not my favorite thing to do but I committed to exercising at least 3 days a week for 1 hour and I've been sticking to it. I'll slip in a little NSV here and say that after losing over 100 pounds I'm coping so much better with the 110+ weather we're having. I used to really suffer and now I bop around and think "this isn't so bad!" Yippee.
