    Protein taste issues

That's what the Genepro is. It's supposedly one of the least with taste, and it seemed like that to me beforehand, but now...ewwwww. It's amazing how much my tastebuds have changed since surgery (which is probably a good thing in the long run LOL).

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

I hear from so many people on this website that their tastes and what they could tolerate before and after surgery has changed in regards to Protein powders/shakes. Has anyone tried GENEPRO before surgery and could still tolerate it? Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

I had my blood work done last month. I was right on target with my Protein. I use GENEPRO daily. I may occasionally go by a Protein Drink shop and buy a shake. I depend at least 65-75% of my protein from Genepro.....I am still having problems with meat. Greek Yogart is too sweet.....so I rather use Genepro.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

I'm almost at the bottom of my first bag of GENEPRO and I've got to say, I love it. It dissolves so easy I don't need a blender or even really to shake my measured shaker cup (the kind with a doohickey inside to help mix). Its just so EASY. It doesnt add any flavor to my drinks (homemade iced tea, crystal light flavored drinks) although I do notice it will change the color. Doesn't bother me. I love that its just one tablespoon to add to your _______. Other Protein powders need such a big amount that adding it to foods I think is harder. I also really like that the calorie count is 98, not 250-something like my lean-body pre-made shakes that are hanging out in my refrigerator taking up real estate.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

You will be amazed with the Genepro! I love it. I love that I can mix it in hot decaf coffee with no taste or SMELL whatsoever. The whey smell of other Proteins were just so bad to me. I'm slowing using up the other proteins I've purchased then will use only GENEPRO. Best of luck to you, Carol

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

I just bought bag of GENEPRO today as well! It arrived today and I'm currently trying it mixed in a serving of yogurt. It really is the best option I've found, taste wise! But am I the only one who is skeptical? 30g squeezed into a 15g scoop? I've tried researching it and have had no luck in finding a real explanation of how they are able to pull this off. It sounds too good to be true. I worry about relying on this and then finding out that it only has like 5g of Protein. Has anyone had their NUT sign off on this stuff?

I am having trouble getting to my protein quota set by my doctor; at least 75-85 grams per day. I have been mixing protein powder with protein drinks just to get more in the mornings...but, boy oh boy, the calories add up. My morning routine comes to about 516 calories. That's one serving of Chobani yogurt with 1 packet of unflavored protein power and one Lean Body protein shake with one packet of unflavored protein powder. Those three items add up to more than half of the 800 calories I've been trying to stick to as advised for these first few months. I also take a handful of vitamins which must be worth at least 5-10 calories each. Wondering if anyone knows anything about Genepro Genetic Tri-Protein Peptide. It says it contains 30 grams of protein (instanized peptide whey, hydrolyzed whey, and genetic hexapeptide protein. Is this the kind of protein I want and need? One thing nice is that the serving size (one scoop) is much smaller than the packets like Unjury or Jarrrow Formulas, which I have been using. Plus it's only got 15mg of sodium. But is it the "right kind" of protein???? Thanks to anyone who can whey in on this topic

    Do I Smell Different?

I got genepro but folks on another site said it's not good and they list a lawsuit. I haven't been able to prove that yet. If anyone knows anything about that that can be proven please let me know. I love genepro, but want to make sure it's really 30g of protein. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 200 GW 135

    African American vsgers!

@@brighteyes64, congrats on getting sleeved! I've heard lots of people mention genepro protein powder, it's supposed to be flavorless & full of protein. Maybe you can use it in broths or add it to crystal lite. Check w/your doctor first to see if it's recommended. I didn't hear about it until after I was in phase IV (regular food). So I personally never tried it. Good luck. It gets easier.
  10. I started doing my own shakes a few days out from surgery, I had a hard time getting the Premier Protein down after drinking them for a few days. I have found that when I blend the chocolate premier with ice it's like a chocolate shake and I have no problems. The Protein Shakes I made right after surgery just had Greek yogurt (I used the oikos triple zero) and plain or vanilla protein powder, if I didn't want fruit flavor from the yogurt I'd throw in some Peanut Butter and half a banana (both were allowed on my stage 2 plan). I used almond milk in these but if I had found fairlife skim milk sooner I probably would have used that instead! Now almost 2 months out I do frozen fruit with Water, stevia and a tbsp of GENEPRO. Makes about a cup and a half -but I only use 3/4 cup frozen fruit- on my way into work. According to my fitness pal it has about 130 cals and it fills me up for a couple of hours. The genepro protein is a god send I wish I had ordered it sooner. It was expensive but I was having a really hard time choking down the other protein powders I got from GNC, I have a protein powder graveyard in my cupboard lol!!!

    I hate protein shakes

I have pretty vocal about my distaste for Genpro and nothing has happened to change my opinion of it. There were some pretty vocal supporters of it in the past, but most of them are gone for one reason or another. If you will allow me to quote myself: They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. I believe this says it best about Genepro: Long story short, they are selling lies. Most likely they are selling BCAA's and calling it protein. Do yourself a favor and buy a reputable protein brand. Gold Standard is good brand. There are so many manufacturers that lie on their labels, you almost have to look them up and see how many lawsuits they have against them before you buy! If their process was true, every other maker out there would be following suit because it is such a cutthroat business. The fact that most retail chains refuse to carry it is evidence of the company's reputation. They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Maggie hope all is well with you. I'm doing pretty well I think. The GENEPRO arrived Thursday and I've been mixing it with cottage cheese or with mashed potatoes. There is no noticeable taste. So it has made my 60 gram goal easy. Tuesday I can move to the next phase of foods. On a different note. I have noticed that I have 2 incisions still very much hurt, but only when I lay on my side. Not sure what that is all about. Hopefully I'm not developing adhesions. I hope everyone else is doing well! Enjoy the weekend!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Sleeved on 3/28 and doing pretty well. Today is my first days on pureed diet and I had a very soft scrambled egg this morning and it was great. Based on a sleeve group attendee I tried GENEPRO protein and it is tasteless just as he indicated. It's great to have this protein that I can mix with other stuff without adding a vanilla flavoring. I am finding my tastes on some things have changed, The Premier Protein water that had been my go to during liquid stage became unpalatable for me. Way to sweet and left a metallic type taste and even felt like a coating in my mouth. One day without it and thats all gone. Also I can no longer handle the chewable calcium tabs and multivitamin chewable that I was planning to use. They just taste way too sweet. But I'll find others.

    november sleeve

I'm feeling pretty good. I did set a water reminder on the baritastic app, but I'm pretty good a sipping throughout the day. I have a long way to go on liquids and was not tolerating protein shakes very well, so I've switched to Carnation no added sugar added to 1 cup skim milk and I add a scoop of Genepro to it to make it a protein bomb. It isn't as sweet or thick as my protein shakes. I have also added Genepro to thinned soups and yogurt, so it helps me to meet my protein goal of 70 grams. I have a few teaspoons of this a few times a day. It's nice to feel like I'm eating real food.

    OCTOBER 2014

I ordered my unjur.y yesterday, since I'm just finishing up my vanilla Cream Protein mix at home. It was really good...but like $35 a jug, unless I buy 3 jugs. I had bought 2 chocolate and 1 vanilla cream. The chocolate is gross. Maybe once I can mix a banana in with it, it might be alright. But anyway--I hear the unjur.y is amazing! So you got the unflavored one, right? I ordered the vanilla. I still have some of my unflavored GENEPRO protein, so I can keep using that in my broth for now. Glad you had a pretty good day out! And great job planning ahead, knowing your mom was going to be eating a chicken sandwich! (mouth watering again....LOL) I LOVE LOVE your Wonder Woman thermos!!!

    protein

I buy Protein powder called GENEPRO. You can get 30g of protein in 1 tbs. it's unflavored so you can put it in anything.. I make protein shots three times a day with 1 tbs of Genepro in about 2oz of almond milk, Greek yogurt, etc Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  20. Can I just say I'm glad you put this out there? I love alone I'll be having surgery Nov 8th. My parents will be bringing me home and I'm pretty I'll have to duke it out with my mom about being left home alone, but I figure if I'm alone, I can rest (and heal) better! I'm packing up inedibles tonight to take to my parents and buying my Genepro on Friday. Your post let me know I'm on the right track
  21. hi all! i am almost to surgery date scheduling in my process and i have been researching Proteins to try. I was initially sold on the GENEPRO but now i little nervous based on these talks of reformulating. i don't mind trying the other but my initial draw to the genepro was the small scoop serving. is this comparable in the piping rock?
  22. I am looking at the listing on Amazon http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NBAHOLY?ref_=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t and Amazon has the directions as "For adults, add five (5) level scoops (28 grams) of whey Protein isolate powder to 8 ounces of cold Water, milk or your favorite juice and blend" - I am assuming that this is wrong? The label photo says 1 scoop is equal to 28g of product = 25g protein. Is this correct, so 1 scoop to 8 oz of liquid? I currently use the GENEPRO and have been happy so far (I don't agree with the naysayers about the nutrition claims) but this seems like such a better value! Is it too good to be true?? $14 is ridiculously cheap...
  23. I’ve given up on protein drinks for a while. Now I am drinking chocolate mootopia, and 8oz has 12g of protein. They also have lactose free, so that has helped me. I am also using genepro but counting one scoop as only 15g of protein. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR

    Pre op diet

GenePro makes a pretty good unflavored that you can add to broth. I like the syntrax as well. I bought 2 cases of premier protein and was gagging at the thought of them after day 5. Nashua Nutrition has samples for 2$ a scoop. Good Luck!!! You can do it!!
  25. I wish I'd known about GENEPRO powder, I was so sick of chocolate "shakes" after four weeks of them... Otherwise, I was pretty knowledgeable after all the time spent in classes and support groups, and reading the internet and such. I think there are unknowns that nobody can prepare you for because they'll be uniquely yours, because it's the mental component we struggle with that makes up the majority of this fight.
