Genepro protein is 30 grams of protein tasteless
  2. Also genepro protein 30 grams tasteless approved by my doctor office

    OCTOBER 2014

I have been getting my extra protein in by eating yogurt two times a day with a scoop of Genepro protein added to it. This was the only way that I could get it in. I don't like the shakes or the protein bars. I try to eat a little beef jerky during the day as well. Protein has been a bit of a struggle for me.

@@Bandista the Genepro works great! Pre surgery I would mix one scoop into my morning coffee, sprinkle in while stirring, and it dissolves right in! 30 Gm protein with morning coffee is awesome! It would hold me for hours. Now I'm mixing half a scoop with my cream of wheats and yogurt. Eventually when I have my coffee again I will go back to my morning mix

@@kwcrnp I ordered the Genepro; thanks for that......I don't do shakes anymore (maybe once in a while as a treat) because they don't hold me but I am mixing the protein into my yogurt with other little mix-ins (otherwise, like shakes, it's a slider for me).... Sure jacks the protein up!

  7. So I'm 2 days post LB...yay! Done Thurs the 16th. Overall doing well. I'm on a full liquid diet and they would like 50-60 Gm of Protein. So prior to surgery I got GENEPRO and unjury. I used both prior and noticed maybe a little gassy feeling. Today I made Soup with the Genepro mixed in. No problems. Had some Jello, no problems. Then about 3 hrs after the soup and an hour after the jello I got terrible gas pains! Like my prior labor pains, it was sooo bad. Took gas x, pain meds and laid down with a heating pad. So was this from the protein or the jello? Did it come back from surgery? I had very little gas pains today until this episode. My belly is still all bloated but not as painful.

    Fruit....

That article is just another another opinion, trying to simplify a complex issue. And debating opinions is a waste of time. You eat your genepro, I'll eat my whey, and Julie will eat her hemp. Discussion over.

    Fruit....

With your other health concerns, I certainly understand your nut's suggestion to limit fruit. But as for chemical laden Protein supplements, whey and milk protein concentrates certainly are not. Whey is simply the liquid part of milk that floats to the top when making cheese. Then it's dehydrated and becomes whey protein powder. No chemicals involved. The solid part is curd, which contains mostly casein protein. As for man made, GENEPRO definitely is. They take 100% whey protein, pass it through a gel electrophoresis process in order to strip the hydrogen atoms from it. Then they filter it some more and add on another molecule to stabilize it. As far as I'm concerned, this is no longer protein. It's like removing hydrogen molecules from Water....now it becomes oxygen, and the two are not interchangeable. Until I see actual clinic studies involving not only pre and post serum levels, but also urine and fecal protein levels, I am not convinced that this molecule is something the body's cells recognizes and utilizes as protein. So far the only "research" on genepro is coming directly from the manufacturer. No 3rd party support or verification whatsoever. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying there isn't enough scientific evidence to convince me it's good. I'll stick with real protein for now.

    Fruit....

The whole 20 grams of protein over an hour is highly debatable both my surgeon and my nutritionist (they are not connected at all) do not agree that is true at all. As for depleting my body of sugar, a lot of people start this journey diabetic. Although I was not diabetic I took the highest allowable dose of metformin and it still wasn't controlling my PCOS and insulin resistance. Fruit is one of the last things you need to add into your diet especially because it is so high in carbs. If you're going to add in something extra with the protein veggies are a better option and this is for any diet not just us. The logic about the sugar makes sense to me and the surgeons office has seen proven weight loss by doing it this way. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean your way is the right way. As for the genepro my nutritionist okayed it. There are countless people using the product, getting routine blood work from their surgeons and having no issues with their protein levels so im going to continue to use it. If you can choke down the nasty chemical laden Protein drinks more power to you but I can't. Id rather be putting a small amount of something in my body than a large amount of man made who knows what (remember Protein Powder is not regulated whatsoever). You do what you think is best for your body and im going to do what I think is best. Every surgeon is different in their thoughts and as we all know there is no set guide for weight loss surgery. I did not gain weight from eating poorly in the past i gained weight from a medical condition. I hate that we are asked to put all this processed stuff into our diet after this surgery to help hit protein goals.

    Fruit....

Just be aware that our bodies can only absorb about 20g protein/hour. Anything more than that is simply turned to glucose. So by taking in that much Protein in a short period of time, you are defeating the whole "no fruit" concept. (Which I disagree with, anyways.... Depleting your body of nutrients just to accelerate weight loss doesn't seem responsible or healthy). If you are burning more calories than you are taking in, your body will burn fat for fuel whether you are eating fruit or not. My protein smoothies are usually 30-40g protein, but I drink them over at least 2 hours in order to get the benefit of all the protein. And the GENEPRO throws a whole other wrench into knowing just how much protein you are really getting. I can find no published studies that actually confirm the absorption and utilization of this chemically modified molecule. Since your nut approves it, I would love to see any clinical trial results they may have read that actually supports the manufacturer's claims.

    Fruit....

My surgeon does not allow fruit for a minimum of 3 months post op. He feels that you're trying to deplete your body of as much sugar as possible so it burns fat instead. It hasn't been that difficult to not have it accept find Greek yogurt flavors I like that aren't fruit. Also for Protein I've been using musclegens GENEPRO powder. It's 30 grams of protein in just a tablespoon of powder and 98 calories. I add it to 80 Greek yogurt and I have 42 grams of protein which makes me inly 1& grams away from my minimum requirement of 60 grams. It's totally tasteless. You can even get samples off their website $3.50 for 2! It's a great powder my nutritionist approved it.
  14. Yes and it's annoying to be sipping all day long! Although im farther out than you (7 weeks) I figured out pretty early on I can easily glup Water with no problems. I can take about 4 big gulps of water before I feel full and about 6 of tea or something else. To help hit your high Protein requirement how about you look into GENEPRO protein powder. It's 30 grams of protein but it's only a tablespoon for the serving which is great and it honestly doesn't taste like anything!! It will make whatever you mix it into cloudy but other than that it's great! And only 98 calories!!! Good luck
  15. That just doesn't make sense. Proteinuria is usually a sign of kidney disease, kidney or bladder infection, or some other medical problem such as diabetes (especially accompanied with the ketones), high blood pressure, and certain cancers. Some medications can cause it, too. I've never heard of excess Protein ingestion causing proteinuria if your kidneys are functioning properly. I know you are a GENEPRO fan, and it sounds like you consume more of it than the average WLS patient that is getting most of their protein from food. That, along with your proteinuria and the fact that genepro consists of highly modified protein molecules got me thinking of a possible scenario. What if the genepro molecule is, in fact absorbed through the intestines very readily like the inventor claims. Now it's in the blood stream, but because of its altered, stable structure the body's cells can't actually break it down and utilize it. And the kidneys can't filter it properly. The only thing left for your body to do is excrete it in your urine. One way to test the theory is to cut out all genepro and start taking in the same amount of protein from 100% whey isolate and food based protein sources. If your proteinuria clears up, that goes towards supporting the theory. If not, I would seriously get on your doctor about doing additional tests. Plenty of WLS patients, body builders, athletes, etc get well over 100g of protein daily without proteinuria. I'm not a doctor, of course, but being in the veterinary world, I've got a decent background in biochemistry and the basic bodily functions of animals are more or less the the same as people. We wouldn't just change the diet of a dog or cat who has protein in their urine. We would find out why, then come up with a treatment plan.
  16. I'm a vegetarian also, and just started my soft stage. I definitely have to supplement the protein.. I do so with genepro protein. Dissolves in anything. I'm going to start soft tofu, blended legumes, eggs, fish, special k protein cereal softened with almond milk. I. Also going to try green smoothies with protein powder. Also veggie burgers if I chew them up real good. Also soft cheese

My doc has stated that my urine is flooded with protein on the second occasion she recommended I decrease my intake due to high ketones as well. We were testing due to extensive hair loss and they determined it was due to the anesthesia. I am also shocked that the Genepro has such a small serving size; but so far it seems to work well for me.

    Liquid diet suggestions

@@Kindle I talked with (and brought the package to her) my dietician about GENEPRO, which she had never seen before. Apparently there really are no regulatory standards for these types of things, like any supplement, no testing or anything. She had wondered if the type of processing actually turned the Protein into an amino acid, as it is broken down so much (thus the 30g of protein in a 15g serving). Hard to say. I am using up what I have, have used it for a few months along with regular unflavored whey protein, with no negative results. It IS nice to have a smaller amount go in the glass, BUT using the regular stuff is ok by me, too, and I think a little cheaper. Hope you have a great day!
  19. I've read lots of people rave about genepro, and seems like the perfect protein supplement. but after researching the company, the genetic process they use to create the stuff and failing to find any sort of scientific evidence to support the claims, I'm just not comfortable using it as a protein source. It may be the "miracle supplement" it claims to be, but then again it may just be modern day snake oil. (Look at the other fad supplements the company offers) In the meantime I'll stick with "real" protein, even with the temperature and taste issues.

@@Kindle I tried the unjury Proteins. I ordered the sample pack, and I did not like them. I found the GENEPRO to really be unflavored. I put a scoop in my Water with crystal lite lemonaid. Love it! When I mix it up with lots of ice in my vitamixer, it's like a sorbet. Can't even taste the Protein.

PB2 is also yummy to add to the vanilla (or chocolate) shakes. Syntrax Matrix flavors I have tried, and LOVED are fuzzy navel and strawberry cream. Also I use the GENEPRO unflavored, and I can add to anything and it really is unflavored. You won't go wrong with the Syntrax Matrix, though. REALLY.

I was so concerned when I read this, cause I rely so heavily on genepro for my protein. I ran across this on a body building blog, seemed to answer things for me... Genepro - highest rated protein on the planet LARGEbagFrontWEB.jpgHey there guys. I am the Doctor/Genetic Bio-Scientist that invented Genepro and am the owner of Musclegen Research. Serving size is 1 Tablespoon = 30g of protein.. Here is a little about the product and the difference between Genepro and any other protein on the market. We are working with bodybuilding.com to carry Genepro as well as out other products.. What makes Genepro so unique is that we are able to reduce the protein molecule to half the size of normal protein through a process called Electrophoresis. This is a reverse electrical polarity method of extracting pure protein. In essence we take protein molecules that, for reference, are the size of a baseball. We push these baseball sized protein molecules through a Polyacrylamide gel (the gel stays below 87 degrees F) and introduce electricity through the gel. This process removes hydrogen ions, allergens and any fillers or binders so we are able to then bind the protein with a strand of six amino acids called a Hexapeptide which stabilizes the molecular structure. This hexapeptide increases shelf life of the protein as well as balancing the bitter taste that is present with the protein after electrophoresis and actually gives the protein a slightly sweet undertone. The protein is pushed through a filtration system and into a centrifuge which results in a pure protein molecule that is now the size of a golf ball (for reference). You may not be able to fit 30 baseballs into a shoe box but you can fit 30 golf balls. Thus giving us the ability to get 30grams of protein in a 1TBS serving size. This process also changes the caloritic count as well to 3.2 calories per gram of protein. The process as well at the hexapeptide are patent pending and have never been used before in nutrition (it's a genetic process that is used primarily in forensic science). The other interesting fact is that most protein supplements digest in the lower GI and whey is absorbed at only 31% so if you're "taking" 30g of whey, your body is only taking in 9g. Genepro is digested in the upper GI which eliminates gluten, lactose and bowel sensitivity and absorbs at a rate of 94% which makes it 3 times more effective than any other protein on the planet (medical or open market). Flavorless and odorless and can be mixed instantly in any food or beverage (hot or cold) without changing the taste or consistency. Truly the most complex and advanced protein on the planet. Each 1pound container comes with 3 empty, re-useable travel pouches that make it super convenient to use anytime, anywhere and in anything

    Protein

By the GENEPRO powder at the very least get the sample pack off their website $3.50 for two servings. Also when I placed my ordered I did it through lucky Vitamin and bought two bags with a coupon code i found and getting free shipping it was $60 for the two bags and that's a two month supply if you do one scoop a day. Well worth it in my opinion!

    Protein

I'm currently on day 4 after revision surgery. The "trick" I've currently hit on is adding Crystal Light to Isopure. Improves the taste significantly!! This is one of the only ways I know to get 40g in at this point. I also just ordered some GENEPRO Protein powder based on what everyone is saying. It is very hard for me to get the liquids & protein in - but I'm determined.

    Protein

I love genepro protein powder. It's tasteless, dissolves in anything. 1 small scoop is 30 grams. I just dissolve 2 a day in anything I'm drinking or eating. Soup, juice, yogurt.... There is no way I could get my protein with out it. I despise protein drinks & the fake sweeteners give me headache.
