It helps also with wanting everything in the cub board. It is mindful eating....http://www.tcme.org/ The carb is what fills you up. Qunioa is a good protein choice also. 13 days- energy up!

Yes I do have foam so I let it sit for a while until the foam dissipates. I use a wonderful stainless steel Camelback cup that will keep something cold ALL day- it is wonderful They have them at REI- there are several kinds of insulated but the one for all day ($30 but REI is 25% off this week) is the one. Keeping the Protein drinks cold is so important for me being able to finish them. Yes- the greek yogurt is so awesome for cutting the sicky sweet flavor and making it more tolerable. It is great in soup too- like sour cream- and adds protein,

    Omeprazole?

We were told to put capsule contents in applesauce, but I also sprinkle the beads in a teaspoon of yogurt.
  5. Not crazy at all...it is amazing tho! Enjoy it and keep up the compliance. I had to do a 2 week pre-op diet of Protein shakes, sf pudding, light yogurt and Water. Week one post-op was 3 Protein Shakes a day with all the water I could do. Week 2-4 was soft foods (including eggs, flaky fish and deli chicken/turkey. One Protein shake a day and fluids. Week 5 was reintroducing regular foods slowly. No nuts til 3 months. Mine was relatively easy compared to some but I did tolerate everything well and have had no issues. 4 months post op and down 61 pounds since surgery and 91 total from pre-op to now.

    Greek Yogurt

I do not like plain Greek yogurt either, but have read on here that mixing 1/2 of the crystal light packets ( the size for 16 oz water) into the yogurt. Since reading that I live for my yogurt- I used Oikos vanilla flavor and 1/2 packet of raspberry lemonade- I lick the bowl clean it's so good! dwilliams

    Torani Sugar Free Syrup ?'s

I actually use the Protein powder...I can't seem to eat before lunch time except maybe fruit, cheese sticks or yogurt, so I usually have a protein drink. I've never bought the ready-made so I'm not sure but you won't know until you try it, right? Start with maybe a capful at a time and see what you like. The syrups are sold near the coffee or tea. The SF ones have the blue label, regular have red labels. Walmart actually had a better selection than Target, but not sure if that is everywhere. I was even surprised at the selection at sams club; that's where I found the coconut. I would like to buy more flavors, just need to make sure I will use them! Since you mentioned it I will go check their website for recipes. Eggface also has recipes on her blog, mainly for protien shakes and protein ice cream using the syrups. Those might be of interest to you also Have a great one! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  8. Sounds just like me! For 2 1/2 yrs, vomiting my meals was a normal occurance. I don't know how many times I've been asked "are you ok?" by a woman in the ladies room at restaurants. There was never foods that I felt were the culprits, sometimes it was yogurt or ice cream. What was the culprit tho was my eating so fast. I don't know why I would forget at the beginning of every meal to slow down. Since my band slipped from frequent vomiting, however, I've learned to eat slower. And it actually works! Wow! What a concept! In the last 6 mths, I've vomited twice. Wish I'd never had to learn that lesson, however. I've gained a few lbs while working with my slipped band. Just some advice for you: Watch the vomiting. My band hung in there for a long time before giving me problems. I thought it was invincible. It wasn't. Once you have a slip, your band is never the same as it was. At least mine isn't... Marci

    Tied To Food

I can see why you need to "drink" alot most of the day so you stay hydrated and then when you get to mushies or soft foods, you should eat every three hours or so (no more than 4 oz.) and continually drink the rest of the time. You should be concentrating on protein shakes and mushies if he has cleared you for that. When you get to soft/solid foods, there are alot of options that are easy to take with you like cheese sticks, cottage cheese, StarKist sandwich ready albacore tuna iun a pouch that does not have to be refrigerated, hard boiled eggs, etc. But it's hard for me to understand why you would be eating real food at three weeks. I have never heard of that. Your sleeve needs time to heal before it starts taking in solid regular food. If you are on pureed foods, you can still have all the sf jello or sf pudding or yogurt you want and those are considered full liquids.
  10. I think there was some debate on Obesityhelp and some were saying it's not the best choice butI don't remember how or why this might be so. With the fruit, you could make some of that dip made with cream cheese, greek yogurt, and vanilla extract. The yogurt would give you some protein. I'm sorry I can't be more help, I never have been a fruit person but my daughter is, and she likes that dip. Now peas squash, and okra I love!

    Greek Yogurt Tuna Salad

I had recently posted a recipe for chicken salad, with greek yogurt and it is really delicious - I agree, it is a good substitute!

    Balloon has been placed!

I'm so sorry to hear that - that sounds awful. :-( Have you talked to your doctor and/or nutritionist? If not, you should do so right away - hopefully they will have some helpful advice. I honestly don't know if the stomach shrinks, but I can tell you that my fullness levels have changed over time. After the first few days of nausea, I was REALLY hungry for like a week, but I was afraid to eat too much (I didn't want to throw up again). Then I was fine for about a month - not hungry, not full. Now I am starting to feel fuller. So I don't know if the stomach actually shrinks, or if you body/brain just adjusts. But I definitely notice a difference. You might want to try Protein /meal replacement drinks and soft protein-rich foods (ex: Greek yogurt, eggs, etc.) to ensure that you're getting some decent nutrition until you talk to your doctor. That all might go down better than solid foods, and have an easier time working its way around the balloon. And maybe even things like Gatorade to help with hydration. Good luck - I hope you feel better soon!

    Found a tasty protein shake

I will second the motion on this being very very tasty. I use it in milk, coffee, and yogurt. It is really good. I have bought several sample packs, but I like it so well I think I will soon purchase the big container of it.

    Food for Road Trip

I'm going on a road trip (8 hr to Seattle to take an Alaskan cruise) this coming Monday! I've already got packed: almonds, jerky, yogurt covered pretzels (a bit of a treat!), Cheerios, and a cooler with yogurt and water. I almost always have a pkt of almonds in my purse for emergencies.
  15. I am 5 months post op with about 8 cc's in my band. Although I still feel no real restriction I have found myself vomiting a lot of stuff I could tolerate prior to my last fill. The 1st week following my fill was fine .. no issues, no restriction, but no vomiting either. I guess I should clarify the vomiting is usually related to being stuck. It can happen on bite 1 or bite 4 and it seems to have not started until the 2nd week post fill. Yesterday was beef stroganoff.. chewed real well and just a few bites before I was in agony and stuck.. today a hamburger patty, no bread .. again tiny bites, not overcooked, melted cheese for moisture .. no go. Lunch I stuck w/ greek yogurt which is never an issue but a boarderline slider I think.. Tonite even a 1/2 cup of chicken salad took forever and was not comfortable but did not come up. I'm thinking chicken salad is moist, pretty chopped up. Am I in need of an unfill? I feel like I should be able to eat solids and not have to live on mushies.

    Great Food Finds

Trader Joe's Greek style nonfat yogurt (various flavors) they come in single serving cups and large containers. 120 cal, 0 fat, 17g carb, 13g sugar, 14g protein
  17. Ugh, bananas - IMPOSSIBLE for me to eat with any fill. I could eat an apple with the skin more easily than a banana. There is no rhyme nor reason to what our bands will tolerate. I couldnt eat easily bananas, yogurt, ice cream, juice, milk, but I could easily eat bread, steak, raw carrot and salads.
  18. Is yogurt and pudding considered part of the liquid diet?

    Another Quick Dumb Question

Having spent almost my entire life dieting, I learned that dairy products are not really good for losing weight. I noticed that a lot of people on this forum who have stalls or trouble losing weight seem to eat a lot of yogurt, pudding, cheese, and cottage cheese. Also, bread, crackers, rice and oatmeal keep me from losing weight although my system seems to be more sensitive than others. It seems to be ok to eat dairy but if you find that you aren't losing weight like you want to then you may want to consider cutting out the dairy altogether. You can buy high protein powders that can be turned into puddings with water though, for example Wonderslim puddings are pretty good.

    Breakfast

What's your go-to breakfast in a hurry? I can only do so many shakes and protein bars and on weekdays cooking breakfast isn't an option....I've about Greek yogurted myself to death lately.
  22. There is some fear mongering to an extent, and it's justified. It's easy to get a lot of empty calories from liquids. Slider foods (things like mashed potatoes or ice cream) you'll find you could still eat quite a decent amount of only a few months after surgery. The risk/concern is that because it's easy to have more of those foods people will transfer a food addiction to those. For instance my NUT told stories of somebody that nibbled on pizza all day long. They couldn't eat more than a piece in a single sitting, but the constant grazing led to weight gain. Same with somebody snaking on the mini Snickers all day long. Yogurts are a staple in my diet. No, they don't fill you up but it's a healthy snack and easy way to get protein in. I don't like offices that make this giant banned list of foods. You can eat nearly anything a few months after surgery. It's just a dangerous path to go down for a lot of folks. Some things are gone and have stayed gone (foods that I struggled with). Other things I allow myself to have maybe once a month and I'm fine with that. Pasta used to be dinner at least 2 nights a week. Now I have a little bit maybe once a month and that's all I care about having. I don't have cravings for it like I used to. If I never had it again I really don't care, and I was a massive pasta lover prior to surgery. I get why they do it but I think there are better approaches to take. The straw thing is mainly in the beginning to avoid the risk of drinking too much too quickly. I use straws now but have to remember that I can't pound a drink down like before.
  23. My Dr requires 3 days after surgery total clear liquid diet. Day 3 until day 22 total liquid with the exception of 4 oz or pureed fruit and some yogurt. Day 23 until day 60 soft puree diet. Does this program appear to be consistent with what others are doing? I am having a difficult time with the liquid diet and find that I am actually very irritable and not real pleasant to be around right now. I know there are some major life style changes to go through and I am trying my best. Why do they require such restrictions for so long ?
  24. I am about 10 weeks post op and I found that Greek Yogurt mixed with one or two sugar substitutes and spoonfuls of either sugar free grape or strawberry preserves is really very good if you like yogurt. I, too tried baby food, and hated it. I also bought some low salt and "healthier soups" with chicken and egg noodles and put those in the blender and they were good as well. Of course the old standby is a scrambled egg or mashed tuna or chicken salad or egg salad. I hated low fat mayo, so I just used regular mayo. So far I am down 35 pounds. Good luck!
  25. Yes...this definitely helps me! I am just shy of 3 weeks out, and so tired of pudding and yogurt and soup and protein drinks, I can't see straight!! I know that there is light at the end of the full-liquid tunnel, but it really helps to hear it again. Thanks!!
