    Really constipated.. I think...

Milk of magnesia works WONDERS, but you should take it before you get stopped up. I know this is TMI, but just imagine the plug already there and everything stopped up inside lol. It's not a pretty feeling when you actually do go. I was in extreme pain (I compared it to labor, but only the early contractions). I would suggest once you do go take a fiber supplement (you can get sme to add to your water) to help regulate. I had two bad occurrences in 1 year. Let's just say, that's the once thing I make sure I'm on top of haha .

    Rant time.

Okay so I'm 3 1/2 months post-op and I'm currently in a stall. It's not bothering me too much because I'm still seeing changes so I'm just going to try keep hydrated, lots of Protein and exercise. But, I am just feeling really down. I had my 3 month check up last week and she said I need to eat more.. Being told all my life to eat less and now it's suddenly reversed. I feel like I cant physically eat more. The little that I do eat seems like far too much. But I'm trying, it just doesn't help that people are trying to force me when they don't understand (friends and family etc). Also, I've damaged the nerves in my stomach apparently? From the surgery and it'll be numb and sore for a long while so that makes me feel worse. Oh and I'm constipated (sorry for the tmi) I just can't go so I feel bloated. I don't know, I guess I'm just so down and it's all getting to me. I'm so grateful for this operation I don't want to seem rude, it's life changing. I just hope things start getting better. Has anyone else felt so down so soon after the vsg? Please let me know. Thank you.
  3. Hi- at 4.5 months out, I feel very lucky to have had literally no problems and i've lost 102 lbs... 3 days ago I started to notice some lower abdominal pressure that I thought was maybe a little constipation. It has increased and my stomach is bloated, hard, and the pressure/pain kind of reminds me of how I felt in the first couple days post opp. Even moving around is uncomfortable... Over the past few days ive gone back to soft foods, taken stool softeners, chia seed, flax seed, upped my water intake to about 150oz a day... ive had a couple of bowel movements that have been painful... sorry if this Is TMI but I thought there might be someone else on here that has been through something similar?
  4. Hi there. I have IBS, not IBD, so I'm not sure if this response will be helpful. When I eat per doctor's plan, I am fine. I still get flare ups from the same foods that caused it before, but with the addition of embarrassing accidents. I would still have the surgery had I known, but probably more cautious. Also when I'm stressed it kicks in which also leads to accidents. My sisters have both suggested I wear a diaper but I can't bring myself to do that. I hope this wasn't TMI, but I thought I'd be honest. Good luck!
  5. I know it is TMI, but I am constipated.. I think.. I say I think because I haven't really pooped much in 3 days... BUT, I do not really feel like I NEED to poop... Normal or not?? I took 2 stool softeners yesterday and then again 2 more today.. still no urge to go... I have also been drinking diluted apple juice. anything else I should do? or just wait for things to get moving?

    Wtf... Tmi...

I have PCOS and an IUD. I have about 2 periods a year that last a couple of days but are so light that you only need pantiliner -- sorry if TMI. But since my surgery 3 weeks ago I have been heavily spotting and cramping on and off for 2 weeks. I was told it was normal and was due to the surge in estrogen from rapid weight loss.
  7. Thanks Cat,Mb, and Anaxila. I have type2, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I know the gb isn't a magic cure and that I need to change my eating and activity habits forever. I don't want to say tmi but I need help. I have tbi(traumatic brain injury) with short and long term memory loss from getting hit by car. So I don't understand things right away. My thing is I just need help on what I should eat and workout info. I have gym in apartments and I do the,leg weightlifts and arm weights(3 diff ways), bike for bout 20 min and elliptic for bout 5. Should I be doing more? Any info anyone has I'd appreciate. Thank you.
  8. I had my first sliming incident this morning from eating too much/too fast. I'm 2 weeks 2 days out and was eating grits. It was scary. It was a very weird sensation. It felt like the food was stuck just below my throat and that I needed to burp, but I was scared to because it almost felt like if I did I was going to choke. I decided to drink something hoping that would help the food pass on through, but that made it even worse. It hurt really bad. After a few minutes I burped and up came the slime. Gross! TMI, but that was definitely a lesson for me t slow down and STOP when I'm full. I had even remarked to my husband that I never thought I'd see the day when I couldn't finish a pack of grits...then I kept eating. Ugh!

    January Sleevers ❄️

I had a bm after drinking 2oz of protein shake. Tmi but it felt so good, it got rid of some of my gas pains.
  10. Hello everyone! Let's get right into it! I was sleeves on 12/26/14 & got my period 2 weeks late on 1/15. My periods have always been on the heavier side, but I got on birth control 5 months ago & it was super light. We'll, lol... This period is seriously, from hell! It is SUPER heavy & With plenty of blood clots. Cramps are terrible and I can sit on my toilet & just feel everything come out. I called my OBGYN & they said it was normal & not to worry. However, I still made an appointment just to be sure. Are periods this heavy normal after surgery? I mean like, wear 2 pads heavy! Sorry for all the TMI ????

    January 15th, 2015 Anyone?

I'm surprisingly feeling good. Walked down the driveway and back with no problems it must have gotten things moving cuz I've released a bunch of gas tmi I know. But I wasn't having gas pains anyway. I'm drinking my first protein shake and I've had about 26 oz water mixed with powerade zero already. I have a tad bit of pain after I swallow sometimes. But other than that I just can't believe im doing so well. Been thanking the Lord all morning.

    Wtf... Tmi...

I dont have PCOS but I have an IUD and rarely get a period and if I do it lasts less than 24 hours and it's spotting ( sorry if TMI) When I was on my liquid diet pre surgery I got the heaviest period I had in years! and lasted very long. I thought it may have been due to my body changes. I did get what I think was a Yeast infection post surgery.. my doc said probably cause of antibiotics - didnt last too long! haha sorry another tmi
  15. I just had the sleeve done tuesday and i get my period today? I have pcos, i only get a period like once a year.... Is this common? I just had a period in beginning of december...
  16. I find that I do best when I eat one to two times per day. I focus on the Protein first and have a few nibbles on tastier things with carbs. I'm five weeks out and still have never reached more than 500 calories and 30 grams of protein a day. It's a struggle for sure. I gave up on Protein Shakes weeks ago. Barf. Tmi but I used to be anorexic and bulimic. I went for months without eating at times and I never lost my hair or or got sick. On one level this worries me because I don't have a lot of fear of what could happen. I'm not very good at following rules. On another hand I am not really worried because I know it's going to get better and in three months I can swallow Vitamins which will make taking my vitamins much easier. I have so much naseau and pain in my stomach at times, tastes make me sick and I really struggle with the supplements and portions. I would rather not deal with food at all most of the time! I have lost 35 pounds since surgery and I have pretty low energy. I'm going to start working out this week because I think that will actually help a lot. It takes time! I'm happy to see you all doing well!!

    The POOPS.....

I am 8 weeks post op and only have diarrhea. I have it once in the morning and again once or twice at night. The bad part is the smell.. TMI I know but seriously it is bad like cat poop every time.. I feel like I need to get one of those huge commercial grade exhaust fans for the bathroom.. It even smells up the room attached to the bathroom and lingers for a good 30 minutes. Is it just me? My dr appt is next week so I'll find out but when I was in at my 2 week check up the nurse said some people never have normal poops again.
  18. Has anyone have severe Mensural issues post op? I am one month post op and am having the heaviest and worst cramps of my life. I am following up with the doctor, but just curious if others have had issues as well.
  19. Well, I got it and it's the pits! Anyone else? If I eat anything that has more than 5g of sugar per serving, I'm full on liquid diarrhea in minutes. I also haven't had a single regular BM since surgery. Am I alone in this?
  20. Ok so I had my surgery on Jan 7 and still have not pooped!!! I have taken miralax the last 4 days, and it am getting so nervous for when it does come ( if it ever does) I am getting 90 gr of protein, 64oz of water, and all my vitamins. The surgery was a breeze but I developed a Large hematoma that is very painful so I am still taking pain meds. What do I do???? I am normally an every day kinda girl. Is this normal, anyone have any advice?

    2 days until surgery

I go tomorrow, so I'm right there with you QueenieB! I bringing my phone, headset and charger. Chapstick, gas-ex strips, a pillow for the ride home and little maternity belly bander And a book for the 2 hour wait before surgery. The hospitals have everything else in terms of toiletries. Tell the prep nurse/tech and they will supply you with pads. Or whatever they want you in. Girl, your whole body is about the be cut open, I don't think there is a such thing as TMI...LOL Good luck!!
  22. I have surgery on Friday and my emotions are crazy. I'm scared, sad, excited etc. can anybody tell me what I should bring other than the regular stuff that I may not think to bring?? Of course I started my monthly cycle too. Does anybody think that could pose a problem. Sorry if that's TMI. Just can't believe this is really going to happen. I'm so nervous.
  23. On the day of my surgery, January 14th, 2013, I was morbidly obese with a BMI over 50. I was suffering from horrific knee pain and was seriously looking at spending my life in a wheelchair. I couldn’t walk more than a block without having to sit and rest. I couldn’t do the simplest of things like put on socks, or pick up my legs to shave them in the shower. I knew I was probably done traveling. I had just been on a cruise where I couldn’t get off the ship because of the pain I was in. I was wearing 4X tops and 26/28 slacks. I knew I was going to have to buy clothes online soon because I was growing out of these sizes and even places like Avenue didn’t carry sizes much bigger. The larger I got, the more invisible I felt. I worried about being able to move in spaces that were no longer big enough for me. I made sure to get to the conference room at work before anyone else so I didn’t have to bring unwarranted attention to myself by forcing my colleagues to squeeze in just so I could pass them if I couldn’t get a seat near the door. I worried about restaurants with tight seating…airplanes with narrow seats and the looks from whoever was stuck sitting next to me. Oh God…just thinking about this even now makes me so very sad and hurt because the list of painful and embarrasing situations is a long one. That, however, was before my surgery. Today is my two year bandiversary and during those two years, I have lost around 150 lbs. That’s an amazing amount of excess weight to carry around on a very small frame. No wonder I was so uncomfortable. Today, I feel light as a feather. I can move normally again. As many of you know, I needed my hips replaced even before dealing with my knees. Turns out that my knees are fairly stable now as there is no excess weight to put unnecessary pressure on the joints. I can do all those things healthy people take for granted. I can walk anywhere and everywhere, I can cross my legs like a woman should be able to do, I can go up and down stairs…..hell, I can open my legs again and feel that marvelous weight of a man on top of me (sorry if that’s TMI but we're all adults here and sex is an important part of life that I thought was also in my past) Most of all…I fit in the world again and because I fit, the world has opened back up to me. After 20+ years, I'm wearing petites again. I'm in small sized tops and size 6 slacks. My legs aren't tree trunks anymore and I'm wearing dresses. And just an FYI for you ladies…If you want to attract a man, wear a dress. Works like a charm.. I love to clothes shop again. In these small sizes, the clothes are cute and pretty and I don't buy anything anymore just because it fits. I wear makeup again. My hair is styled attractively. I match the jewelry/bag/shoes to the outfits. Like I said above, I am very much aware now that people notice me. What an amazing transformation that is. To know that people see you again is such a powerful feeling….especially when you've felt invisible for so long. I’m traveling again. In fact, I’m planning a trip to China or now possibly a Nordic cruise to Finland and Norway sometime later this year. I hope to go on one big trip every year. There are so many places I didn't think I'd ever get to and now I need to make up for lost time and go wherever my heart desires. My grandson is due in April. I’ll be able to play with this one. My granddaughter missed out on a lot because I couldn’t keep up with her. She and I did a lot of arts and crafts, and reading books together or watching TV. I’m sure she didn’t feel like she missed anything but I know she did and this time around, Grandma is planning on climbing the monkey bars with this little guy when he gets old enough. One last thing I wanted to put out there. I must thank Alex for creating this site. It has been my salvation. The people here were and are, instrumental in my success. I have said things in my posts that no one outside of this place can truly understand and for that I am so very grateful. I am also blessed to call many of the folks on this site good friends of mine and I can’t wait to meet some of you face to face so I can give you a big hug. Here’s how I feel today..and most days in fact….I’m a person with two birthdays now. One in August of 1958 when I was born, and one in January of 2013 when I was re-born. For anyone reading this post, congrats if you have also found success in your weight loss journey and to those struggling, or who are pre-op and full of doubts and worries, know that a new life is possible for each and every one of you. I'm not special so if I could do this, so can you...no matter what your co-morbidities, starting BMI, or any other challenges you are facing. Here's a couple of before/after pics so you can see what 150 lbs. gone looks like. The ticker is just data but a picture is worth a thousand words as they say.
  24. Has anyone had to have gallbladder surgery after already having surgery for your sleeve? My surgeons said it was too risky doing them at the same time, so on 1/19/15 I go in the hospital for gallbladder surgery and if so how did you feel after? (Tmi) did you have diarrhea, nausea, ect.. After you recovered? Thank you in advance!!
  25. Hi Julie if I'm honest the only questions I ask were could I die... And was my tummy going to be flat and not sit on my legs wobble and be sweaty. I didn't look into possible bad outcomes. I was imo young, super fit at the time. I did have very stretched skin. Only about 1 in 10,000 gets my problems. I've had c sections and this was nothing like that. So much worse. By my surgery date I was so thin my overhang was pretty small. I had 3•5kg of skin/fat removed. A relatively small amount. I'd ask about drains I had mine in for over 3 wks. I'd ask about width of scars mine are pretty thick. I had a reaction to the thread they sewed me up with. My body kept rejecting it and new areas opened up. I'd ask worse case scenario outcome. I'd also advise stool softener. Tmi but it was an issue. If your having just a horizontal incision I believe it's even rarer for the wound to dehiss and become necrotic. Wear a good binder or support underwear. I didn't. Be prepared to feel totally zapped. It floored me for 3 months. But I've read a lot of positive outcomes. Look on real self. It's a great site. Lastly good luck.
