    Two NSV!

I had two NSVs this weekend! The first happened yesterday. Yesterday me, my son, my girlfriend and her cousin played 2 on 2 basketball in the park. It was the WORST game in history because none of us are any good. But, for 45 minutes I ran around the court, guarded my son, ran after the ball, dribbled, shot and played. I wasn't winded or anything, my knees and back didn't hurt, either. In fact, I felt great during and afterward! I finally lost enough weight to be active and play with my son again! I had SOOOOOO much fun!!! I can't wait to do it again! For years I've been watching everyone around me run around and have fun, and I was finally able to join in and do it too. Then, I took a shower. When I got out, I wrapped a towel around me...it went all the way around! There were no gaps in the bottom of the towel where it doesn't close all the way! Thank you sleeve!

June 2020 Sleevers, how are you doing?

So...I've had great progress so far. starting weight 308,surgery weight 288, current weight 219. Plenty of NSVs as well. Now for the downsides: in a bit of a food funk right now. It's a little hard watching my family eat things that i can't (well, really, i can probably eat some, but it would not have good results). I am deathly afraid of carbs, because that has been my downfall in the past. Don't get me wrong: i don't regret the surgery at all! Just need some encouragement sometimes....

BEST NSV EVER! This make it ALL worth it!

That is sooo COOL!!!!! I graduated in '86 and haven't been to any of my HS reunions either (not even my 20th, 2 yrs ago!). For the same reason. I was thin in HS and started gaining after I got married at 19. I didn't feel comfortable going. I plan on going to the next one, even if I'm not at goal yet. I think I'll just be feeling better about myself. I have seen a few people since that still live here and I hate meeting up with them. Of course no one has said anything but my imagination fills in the blanks for me! UGH!! Thanks for sharing your NSV!!!

Any Men of March 2009 here?

I am the same, need more self control. I had my first fill a week ago. I feel fuller, though it's not enough. I know I need at least another fill. I am surprised what I can eat. It's still much less than what I used to, but I am not having issues as other people have. I think it's that I really chew my food now. Which is a big NSV for me. I used to inhale my food before. Gregnlr thanks for the props! :thumbup:You are doing well with your own weight loss

    50lbs gone!

@@onesleevedmamma you are doing terrific 50 lbs down the toilet FLUSH its great that you are keeping records/documenting/measurements NSV - is the acronym for non sleeve victory or great non number rewards as you referred needing to wear a belt so your pants don't fall down that's a good one keep up the good work for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life kathy congrats
  6. I've been lurking here for a while. Could someone tell me what NSV stands for? Thanks
  7. So, when I first started my journey, I met a gal at the support group wearing a super cute dress. A few days later, I ran into her during my post op at the surgeon's office and she was wearing the same dress, so I told her it was cute. She offered me the dress and I said Thanks, but no thanks. I told her it would never fit me, but she told me to have faith that it would! At last week's support group meeting, she told me she had the dress in her car for me. I tried it on today, with absolutely no hope/thought that it would fit today. Well, it does!! LOL I think it's too young for me, and it's definitely too low cut, but I'm posting the picture here, among friends as proof that the dress fits! Nope, I'm not at goal, but I'm crying because I never in a million years thought this dress would fit me and it does. THIS is a true NSV!!! Maybe in another 20 or 30 pounds I'll feel differently, but right now, I will not be wearing this dress in public. I'm pumped, though, to see real, tangible results of all the treadmill, exercise, and recumbent bike time I've put into me! Happy Dancing Today!!

    NSV Goal Poster Board

My best NSV was being able to shave my legs sitting in the bath without pulling something due to forced contortions!!!!
  9. I am looking forward to fitting in chairs and not having to call ahead to see if places have adequate seating. I am also looking forward to the positive change in my sex life, the increase in mobility, going to theatres to see plays/shows (before I could not fit in the seats), being able to cross my legs, being able to dance, having room in my driver side area (now the seat belt is so uncomfortable and my belly touches the seering wheel), running, people not starring at me, not being the big girl when I go out with friends, and simply being able to fit in (chothes, cars, airplanes, crowded places, desks, and the environment as a whole). My surgery is scheduled for July 22, 2014......This will be the day that my life changes forever. I am determined to accomplish all of these NSVs.

    feeling down

it can be very hard to believe that this time will be different but it will be different. The sleeve is an amazing tool to reset your life and reclaim your health and mobility. You have so many small and large victories ahead of you. i encourage you to look for the NSV -non scale victories - topic located here and read thru it and see all the great things you can look forward to post op is very much a mental game so keep the reasons you did this in mind and look forward to the good things ahead. good luck

    Another NSV

When I got married 3 and a half years ago, I searched high and low for a simple outfit to wear (wasn't a big ceremony and wanted something kind of casual that I could wear again one day). This city is filled with pencil thin, boobless model wannabes lol, so my search took ages. I finally found a shop that had a lovely light lavendar skirt and top. It was just what I had been looking for. When I tried on the biggest size, the skirt was super tight Luckily, the blouse came down over my gut to hide it a little bit. I looked around at other shops though and that was the closest I could find to something that looked half way decent on me. This weekend, I fished it out of the closet, just to see if I could squeeze my big arse into it yet. Low and behold, it was LOOSE! Not like falling off loose or anything, but moving room loose for sure. That inspired me to try on a few other outfits that I had bought before I moved to Australia, in the hopes that one day I'd fit into them. They ALL fit!!! So I'm now smaller than my DH has ever seen me. Still as big as I was when I was 9 months pregnant, but I'm not concentrating on that hehehe.

    My Face Is Broken!

Yep. Further, at 9 months post-op, I renewed my passport early (2 years before it was set to expire) because it was getting annoying/stressful having to explain that i was in fact me at airports. Im 3+ yrs post op now and a few months ago, I renewed my driver’s license and its nice to not have to explain my appearance to the people at the liquor store when I get carded. Though getting carded at all is an NSV in itself cuz im like 50 years old. Lol. Congrats, and enjoy the broken face!
  14. So I've been REALLY putting in a good fight to lose weight going into surgery and to change my old habits NOW so that it's not so foreign afterwards. In June, I could barely walk across my house without having to sit down. 2 weeks ago, I nearly died going around the block and yesterday, I walked 2 miles! Seriously my heart was pounding out of my chest and I was coughing like a 50yr smoker when I got home(if home counts as the front lawn and my fat ass laying on it like a fish pulled out of a lake LOL), but I was so proud! I walked 2 miles!!!! At this rate I wonder if I can get to light jogging even before my surgery(I wish!)

    Losing Inches!

Jimmy, Congratulations!!! You're already seeing results, which is so wonderful!! Don't give in to the urge for something carbonated. Do check with your doctor about an acid reducer and/or a nausea medicine. You'll be amazed at how much better you feel as soon as you start taking them. Are you allowed decaf tea or coffee right now? If so, maybe a cup of one would help with the idea that you need soda. I love that you're already looking for those NSV's! I'm gonna turn every one of the newbies into NSV ho's like me!

    NSVs!

CONGRATS ON YOUR NSV!!! I love NSVs! I think they mean more to me than the number on the scale. My latest NSV happened last week when my 11 y/o niece came for a visit. I haven't seen her since Christmas Eve. When she first saw me, she stopped dead in her tracks and said, "Whoa! You got skinny!" Here are a few of my other NSVs that have happened along my journey so far: 1) no more diabetes or cholesterol meds 2) blood pressure meds cut in half 3) went from a tight size 28 to a comfortable size 20W 4) went from a 44D to a 40DD  5) can't wear any of my rings b/c they are too loose 6) walking and bicycling regularly 7) food budget cut waaaaay down 8) no need for a nap everyday after work 9) don't have to use the stand up tanning bed b/c I am too heavy for the regular beds 10) feeling comfortable w/ my body after a VERY long time of not even being able to stand to look at myself in the mirror I wish you all the success in the world with your new BANDED LIFE!

    NSV!!!!

simple or not, NSVs are great. congrats and here's to more of them!
  21. So I have lost 36 pounds (pre-op diet included) so far and today I went to get my shoes on. Usually with sandals that you have to fasten, I would struggle to put on because my big stomach would get in my way... well today... I did it! There was still some discomfort because I'm no where near my goal, but man did it feel nice to be able to have more breathing room to fasten and buckle the sandals without losing my breath! I don't ever want to be where I was again! It can only get better from here on out! Can't wait for the changes ahead. Just wanted to share with ya'll. May be simple but it surely was exciting for me!

    Finally Made It To Onderland

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your menu. I am 10 pounds from Onederland and I can't wait to do the happy dance too! I am down 27 pounds since 9/28 when I started the pre op liquid. Banded 10/12. Weight is coming off slow and steady. I had a funny NSV yesterday. I was having a pedicure and as my peducurist( is that a word) was massaging my lower legs, she commented that my legs were smaller! Yahoo.
