    Depressing

you are in the classic, predictable 3 week stall. If you search for that phrase on this site, you will see that you are completely normal, the surgery is working for you exactly as it does for everyone...and that 2014 may well be the year where you completely transform your outside appearance Don't be depressed, you are right on track.

    Full liquid diet ideas

I do feel better today! I have been going full speed due to work and the holidays. I went back to work 6 days after having my lapband converted to the sleeve surgery. WAY to soon! Anyways, I have been watching You Tube videos of gastric sleeve and found this forum and found that the 3 week stall and future ones are NORMAL and now it makes sense to me! I also went to a WONDERFUL WEBSITE theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and it put a WHOLE NEW LIGHT on LIVING after bariatric surgery! I feel that the "depression" is from mourning the loss of food and WINE! Don't get me wrong, I KNEW it was coming BUTthis has felt more PERMANENT than the band. The egg face website has wonderful recipes that I'm planning to try as soon as my diet allows!!

    New Here

HI. We were sleeved around the same time. Mine was Nov 18th. Lately been eating a lot of fish. I haven't lost much since surgery which has been very discouraging. I quit weighing several weeks ago because it was causing me too much anxiety. It was the dreaded 3 week stall. Lately I felt my clothes getting looser so it seems I break thru the stall. i'm still not weighing yet. I go to the dr on the 2nd and I will see then.

    I'm stuck at 201!

gah isn't that frustrating?! Just as you get to a significant milestone, your body decides to stop and smell the roses. I wanted to get below 175 as that would have been my weight 19 years ago. My body decided to take a 3 week stall for no apparent reason. Finally got there but I was ready to tear my already-thinning hair out. hang in there. It has no choice but to surrender those pounds.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I seem to have hit the famous 3 week stall at 19 days out. I haven't changed my diet or activity and have been at the same weight (or slightly higher) for 3 days. Sticking to my program and hoping to break free soon ....

    What's going on?

I'm not sure why this is showing up as part of the Gastric Bypass section, but you indicate you had VSG, so I'm answering. :)The 3 week stall is completely normal after VSG (& I assume after any WLS procedure). One of the vets here, Butterthebean, even has this link about it included as part of his signature: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.Ur8Z6_RDurk Hope this helps!

    August sleevers progress

Hey guys haven't posted in a while. Surgery date 8/27 HW 372, Surgery weight 347 CW 263. It has been a great journey so far. I had my bloodwork done in November and I got a call from the NUT saying that I needed to up my Iron, Vitamin A and Protein (since it was low in my blood) it was hard to start eating a bit more, but only upped my calories from about 650 to 750 so it wasn't bad. I was in a 3 week stall and super tired all the time, as soon as I made the changes I started losing again. This whole this is crazy!

    Christmas - New Year Challenge

Super excited to see some movement on the scale this morning- ending a 3 week stall. Down to193.6.

    Epic fail?

At 8 weeks post op I've lost 44 pounds and am thrilled. Even if I never lose another pound, I feel and look better than I have in 15 years! I weigh myself every day , but I don't let the scale discourage me if I gain a pound or I'm in a stall. My first stall at three weeks post-op lasted 16 days. I began to get very frustrated, but then I read about the 3 week stall and realized that if I eat according to the meal plan (which includes eating OFTEN and ENOUGH food and fluids) the weight has no choice but to fall off from a physiological standpoint. It may even be necessary to INCREASE caloric intake at some point to get things going again. Also, if you are a woman who is not menopausal, you need to factor in the monthly weight fluctuations due to Water retention and other such things you would deal with even if you were at goal weight.

Three weeks out and not losing weight!

Dont worry. You will lose. There will be a lot of times when you dont lose for a couple weeks or a month or whatever. Just keep doing what you are suppossed to. Keep a good mental outlook and trust in the positive changes you are making. I know its hard, sometimes I feel like its been forever since I lost a lb and then I look at my calendar and its been 4 or 5 days when I could have sworn it was weeks! Plus the 3 week stall is the most common one.
  13. I know exactly how you feel because I"m going through the same thing you feel. I had surgery on the Nov 18th and lost 10 pounds the 1st week nothing since then. I actually haven't weighed in over a week because I didn't want to keep feeling defeated by the scale not moving. 3 week stalls are not a myth. It's just your body trying to adjust but it really sucks.
  14. Just keep on keeping on!!! You'll see a LOT of discussion of the "3 week stall"
  15. Keep pressing along. Concentrate on non weight victories. U r probably losing inches. And if u have more energy walk longer exercise a little harder. , of course with your docs permission. -a 3 week stall seems the norm by reading the responses from this website. Keep yourself busy and try not to dwell on the scale. The scale can be my friend or my enemy.

    stupid stall. I'm so frustrated

My 3 week stall lasted a full month! It was horrible and very emotional. But, this too shall pass. I'm 5 months out and 87lbs down! Just keep following your plan and you'll lose the weight
  17. I am 13 days post op and I feel like I've already been stalled for a week. I have heard of the 3 week stall, but one week, really? I am at the puréed stage and I eat 3 meals per day (1 egg w/cheese for Breakfast, 3 oz chicken salad for lunch, 3 oz puréed chili w/ cheese wedge) plus one Protein shake amounting to 600-700 calories and 70-80 grams of protein per day. I haven't started exercising yet but plan to start walking next week. I have lost 8 pounds since day of surgery. Is it too soon to panic? Please help? Does this seem like too much food too soon? Thoughts? Also, this may be TMI, but my monthly visitor is here this week. Could that be the issue?
  18. I'm so frustrated and discouraged. I was sleeved on nov 18 and lost 10 pounds the 1st week which I know was just Water mostly. So now here I am 2 weeks and 2 days into my "3 week stall." If actually really lasts 3 weeks I'm going to lose my s**t. I even gained 2 pounds. I get that fact my body is adjusting to the trauma of surgery and also trying to hold on to everything I put in it because it thinks I'm starving it. My understanding has turned into complete frustration. I decided to up my calories thinking that would help. I went from about 500 to about 800. 200 calories was just from my Protein shake which I hate but i suck it down anyway. I know everyone that says this is normal but it doesn't feel like it. I just makes me feel like I'm failing. It makes me feel like I wasted $12,000 of my hard earned money...ugh

  20. Guess I am in the 3 week stall. So frustrating! The scale has not moved in nearly a week. I am eating around 500 calories a day. How is that even possible? I am ready for skinny and I am only down 18 pounds.

    Is Tihs Normal ?

also search this site for 3 week stall. Happens to the majority of us.
  22. I did the whole 3 week stall thing (fun).. not! And I was wondering if there was another stall that was as predictable? I'm on a decent roll right now but I can't stop wondering when it's going to stop. Thanks
  23. Thanks for posting this again, Butter! I think I've read it about 4 times, but it is just such a good article! Plus, I think I'm almost there myself... Sleeved on 11/21, and this was the first time I gained 0.5 lbs. I'm just reminding myself its just Water. Also, I've read a lot of people tend to lose inches during the 3 week stall, and I'm excited for that part... I'm down almost 100 pounds since my highest weight and have only dropped 2-3 sizes, depending on the brand. I am starting to get a little more frustrated with that aspect of things... Anyway, thanks again for the great article!

    Who Else Is Not Losing?

Your body is healing. You are retaining water, you have changed your diet drastically, and your glycogen stores are depleted and recharging. It's called the 3 week stall even though some of us have it at 2 or 4 weeks and a rare few of us don't have it. Don't change things. Just keep following your bariatric team's plan.

    December Fitness Challenge

2.5 miles today on the treadmill in the same amount of time it took me to walk 2 earlier this week. It also helped clear my head a little about my 3 week stall. It's amazing what putting on the head phones and listening to CeeLo Green's "Fu*& You" song will do!!!! I'm at 11.9 miles to my 50 mile goal.
