    Goals/NSV's

My NSV is that I at 2 whole pork chops and thought I was going to burst last night. OK no that is not a good one. I wore a pair of 3 inch heels for several hours this week. I have not been able to wear heels since I broke my ankle because there was just too much weight on them. Now that I have lost 71 pounds, my ankle don't hurt with them on.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

No Kathy, no slow loser for you, but I'll spot you the "stuck loser!" (((((hugs)))) Okay, you've been on a plateau for a few weeks. Really a frustrating place to be. So you've had a couple of sodas lately. So you've had some medicinal chocolate. SO WHAT! We love you anyway. Gotta get moving though. If you are at the bars, get dancing! Shake that bootie, all night long baby. As for the sodas, there is some research that diet soda contributes to obesity. I drink the occasional soda, and I do mean occasional, like maybe a bottle a month. But I only drink sodas that are sweetened with cane sugar, and don't have any high fructose corn syrup, which in my mind, is the only truely evil food. The sodas are more expensive than your typical can of coke, but it's a rare treat for me. I think everyone has those fluctuating restrictive days, and they are sure frustrating. I know that for me it is helping me understand my Cushing's, that the days I'm really restricted are the days my cortisol levels are high. (I'm such a science experiment!) I don't know how to help you ride them out, but if yyou are *too* restricted too often, I'd schedule a small unfill. So you haven't been excersizing. Get moving woman! get out side and play with those kids, make up a huge 5 gal bucket of bubbles and play with the kids. Get a giant rope and play jump rope with the neighborhood kids. Get some rollerskates, go dancing, do some yard work. Move, move, move! You don't have to "excersize" to get moving. Maybe you just need to change how you are moving. Call your local parks and rec department and see if there are any belly dancing classes in your area! I know how hard it is to be motivated when you don't *see* any movement on the scales. Are you tracking other things? I haven't seen you start your "Tattooed TX Mommy's Amazing NSV List." Please go and talk a good look at your NSVs. Perhaps you are compacting, and losing inches. We see this over and over where people will hit a plateau while their body catches up to all the rapid weight loss. Be kind to yourself. Never give up, never surrender!

    I'm starving!!

Just try to keep the eye on the prize. You knew going into this your food intake was going to be lessened. Hunger pains is definitely something most of us were not familiar with going in, however, we all have plenty of reserves to live on for quite some time. This too shall pass, my dear... with a fill, you'll begin seeing benefits of the weight loss and your body and mind will begin to adjust to the difference in the way you feel too. I guess the biggest NSV for me since being banded is the fact that I never have that 'gorged' feeling of fullness anymore, especially at bedtime at night. I can lie down without feeling stuffed and miserable. After awhile, it actually feels GOOD to be empty..

    New NSV's

I had an appointment with my regular doctor today. My list of medications has now gone froom 8 to 4 :becky: and that's only because I CHOOSE to be on these 4: zyrtec(for allergies), birth control, synthroid, and effexor(new ssri since Paxil packs on the pounds) He was really surprised when I told him that I had not been taking my Actos for the past two months, but when he looked at my numbers he was really impressed. We decided not to refill my blood pressure meds and that I only have to take what I have left every other day until I run out. That should not take long. I'm down 30lbs since surgery! :clap2: My hA1c is 5.7. That is down from 5.9 on the day of surgery and it should continue to drop. Today has been a really good day. My nephew is also visiting with me for a few days and made the comment the other day that I sure do hiccup a lot after a meal. :hungry: Seems he's picked up on my soft stop as well.:thumb:

I am celebrating a great NSV!

WoW!!! Fantastic NSV, Vicki!! I'm so happy for you. And just think.. this is just the beginning!!
  8. Let me preface this by saying I have been on a TON of meds because of my MO, so much so, that my kids make fun of how much I take. I am diabetic, have HBP, depression, insomnia and about every other malady associated with MO. I am 3 months into Bandland. From the first day of banding, I was able to quit my insulin injections, which was wonderful. I've lost 33 lbs and am feeling great. Actually, I've been getting dizzy lately and have had frequent episodes of low blood sugar. I went to the Dr. yesterday suspecting my BP was going low and causing the dizzy spells. He agreed, lowered my BP meds, my diabetic meds and my depression meds. He also took me off my sleeping pills. He ran all the usual battery of tests and told me to come back in a week to discuss the results. Well, I got a call today saying I did not need to come back for 3 months, EVERY test was perfect, and even my HC1A was at non-diabetic levels! I am on a natural high and just had to share my NSV! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    Over 50 lap bandsters

I was so worried about turning 50 last Sept., but now thanks to the band I'm feeling better than I have in years! I had surgery 1/24 and have lost 33 pounds...not terribly fast, but I'll take it! If I could stay away from the chocolate it would go faster, I know. I get my third fill next week and am hoping that I'll get better restriction then. It was so neat to go for a brisk walk last night (about a mile) and actually enjoy the exercise rather than detesting every minute! And I found a shirt in my closet that I had purchased last year and it was too small...it fit great now. The NSVs are what keep me going!!! Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer~ Emily

    Kathy's Slow Loser NSV List

YES! That's like 2 NSV's! Needing the smaller shirt, AND recognizing and being willing to get it! VBS is Vacation Bible School-you know what that is!-lots of churches do them in the summer for the kids, it's an all week-evening thing with dinner, skits, singing, crafts...fun fun fun! hmmmm...is VBS a "Southern Thang"? I never thought about it, maybe it is?

Gone for Good Club - June 2006

Well, it seems I have a bit of an NSV today. The wife went out to buy me more pants... and it seems I am no longer a memeber of the "Big and Tall" section. It seems she had to visit the 'Regular Sized Human" section to buy them.
  12. Nykee, your honesty and "realness" never fail to amaze me. 'Sho is right, start documenting, start getting things charted by your docs. What you have said shows medical neccesity, not cosmetic. I think you are sort of stuck in the middle. You've come so far that you cannot see that light where you came from, but you haven't gone far enough to see the light where you are going. And that is a diffiuclt and discouraging place to be. (((((Nykee)))) 'Sho, that is so wonderful about the bathing suit! But I honestly cannot think of an NSV where I have mixed feelings. I will have to do some thinking about that. I cannot offer any thing constructive about your scars. But then again, I don't care if people see my scars, it doesn't have an affect on me what people think about them. It doesn't even occur to me that people might think anything about them for that matter.
  13. DH took me to dinner, then (WARNING NSV AHEAD)...HE TOOK ME TO VICTORIA'S SECRET, AND I FIT INTO THE CLOTHES. He bought me this sexy lil number, and meeee-yow!! check me out from before we left the house, compared to before we left the house on surgery day!!! This is so much fun!!!!!! stay tuned for the front pic...see next post...

    February 2006 bandsters unite!!

Hi Everyone! I'm down to 229.1....woohooo! I finally broke the 230 barrier (just barely!) I have been feeling somewhat angry and/or depressed about the restriction I've been getting. I can't eat much at all. I know that's good for weight loss, but it's frustrating to not be able to eat anything. I can eat yogurt, cheetos, cheezits, coffee, creamed soup, (sometimes) lettuce/tomato, cheese and a bite or two of egg salad or scrambled eggs. Went out to eat with a couple friend of ours and their 5year old daughter. To OUTBACK no less!!! I had an order of garlic mashed potatoes and a ceasar salad. I ate about 3/4 of the potatoes and about 1/8 of the salad. NO MEAT!!! NO DRINK!!!! We had a family get-together last weekend--a shrimp boil. I ate 3 shrimp and PB'd them back up!! Tonight I tried a hamburger pattie. Ate slow, small bites, chew, chew, chew....PB'd back up. I don't understand how cheetos and cheezits go down fine and no other solid food will go. Even egg salad makes me have the chest heaviness...but I always manage to get a little bit of it down each day. At least I know I'm getting some protein in that way! I'm still losing weight very slowly, so I'm hesitant to get an unfill. Am I just being whiney that the band is doing it's job, or do I need an unfill??? I just can't be objective enough about it to make that decision. I miss eating meat and veggies and eggs!! Amazingly, a piece of wedding cake went down just fine at my neice's wedding reception!! GO FIGURE!! And, I had several (probably 6-8) peanut butter M&M's last week at work...they went down fine too!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Like many of you, I just need to make a commitment to exercise as a part of my daily routine...I hate it, but that's what it will take I know. Small NSV...I ate part of a chocolate/caramel jr banana split from Sonic...it came right back up...I think it was the banana. It also gave me a tummy ache...maybe too much sweet/calories?? Does that mean I've actually gotten out of the habit of eating that poorly (maybe, maybe, I hope so!!!) Thanks for your feedback bandsters. You all have more good advice for me than the doctors or the band manufacturers. THANK YOU ALL!!! Nanster

Where did I go? Who am I now?

Oh my god. I was just going thru this the other day! I was thinking.. Ok, people who know me realize that I am looking so much smaller than I was. How I look now is an improvement! So I get dressed in a smaller size and find myself out in public sorely aware that these people don't see the fat woman getting thinner. They see a fat woman trying to wear clothes that are probably too small or the wrong style for her size, etc. I know exactly what you mean!! About the bathroom thing... I went through the same things. *sigh* I also became despondent when I couldn't wash properly in the shower. I was in the process of finding an long-handled soft ended thing that could reach places I could no longer reach. And I was considering a hand held shower head so I could rinse those same places. Now, every time I shower I Celebrate how easily I can wash everywhere! Rinsing is no longer a problem either! I think this has to be my biggest NSV.

    February 2006 bandsters unite!!

I'm giving up keeping up with everything, at least for today. Welcome to all the new members! I think I even saw a male type!! Woohoo! I just updated the front page based on recent posts and/or your signatures. I added a chart at the bottom for our average pounds lost per week. If you get the chance, please check that I have your current values. If I don't, feel free to post them or send me a PM. Thanks! Love ya'll! Sorry I've been MIA... I've been mostly avoiding LBT. The flame wars made it a not happy place for me. I'm trying to decrease my BP, lol, not raise it! Mikey & I got fills on Tuesday. We're finally feeling them, at least a bit. We've definitely slowed down. I seem to HAVE to wait 45-60 seconds between bites now, or pay the price. Everyone sounds like they're getting some restriction! How are those fills doing? Anyone contemplating an unfill? Hope you're all controlling the speed & not PBing! Oh, and congrats to our first time fill folks!! Glad you overcame your fears & did it! That's an NSV right there!! Everyone have a lovely weekend! (( Hugs!! ))

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

*Gasp!* We lost over 300 pounds in May!! Awesome job everyone!! :clap2: Congrats on your NSV, Feel2Young2B40! That must be an awesome feeling, but I also understand the fishbowl thing. Hold your head up high and be happy! These people are noticing good things. What a change from people looking and thinking the opposite, right?! Ok, Lianna... you twisted my arm. There will be 5 pt bounses for each perfect WEEK in June's challenge. Cool.

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

Hi! Doing my monthly check in. It's been nuts around here between prom, graduation, relatives from out of town, etc over the past few weeks. Considering everything going on, I'm down to 210. I even saw 208/209 the other day but it was over the weekend so I'm going with this morning's weight. H 278, C 210 (-7 for May) Huge NSV last Friday - had to buy new swim suit and it was a size 14! Down from my original 26/28. Then I went to try on some capris and bought 1 pair in size 16 and the other a size 14. And I'm proud to say neither the swim suit or the capris were tight. Wow! What a great feeling. Then one of my friends said "don't lose anymore!" I said are you NUTS! I have another 40-45 pounds. I do feel self-conscious though lately because people seem to be staring or wondering what I've been doing. I feel like a fish in a fishbowl. Oh well, I guess there are worse things. I have another fill scheduled for 6/14 and due to some possible upcoming insurance changes, I'm going to go ahead and do it. I'm going on vacation the end of June so I'll have plenty of time to see if I need some unfill at all. Let me know when the June get together is in DFW. I'd love to go! See you later all!

    grundies in a bundle NSV

I was sorting through Bras. Frustrated at the new 38 long size. I thought this really puts my grundies in a bundle feeling as these things are not cheep!! Why do men have less expensive undies anyway? So I looked at one of my old faves and thought, I wish that there were 3 inches taken right out of the center of this thing. well I tied a knot into the center and sort of pondered. then I put the darn thing on and I am not kidding you. It fit really nice!!!! Ive spent 3 weeks trying to find a comfy fitting one and haven't found a thing. Now I am telling you the TRUTH!! It fit and I wore it all day and I just cant believe it myself and it looks sort of like a bow style swimsuit top!! Who would have guessed. I know I'm strange an cheep, but I think Ill try this on a few more of my undies!:guess  :omg:
