Sounds great! I lost about 40 before my surgery which was last week. I've already started a very large pile of clothes that are too big. Trying to decide between donating and going to a consignment store so I could at least get a few dollars back. And I'm checking out smaller sizes at Goodwill to get me through the next months when everything will be changing quite a bit. I love this idea for a topic NSV! What NSVs are you looking forward to?
SweetPeas replied to Deehovey's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
A few NSV's I have enjoyed so far: Not needing an extender for the airplane seatbelt (for that matter, fitting comfortably in the airplane seat) Not hiding when it's time for pictures (and not freaking if someone posts them on social media) Being able to buy a "regular" size bra that doesn't require special order/shopping at a specialty store for the size -
What NSVs are you looking forward to?

Pre-ops and new post ops, what non scale victories are you most looking forward to? Me, Im looking forward to the usual, being able to sit in chairs with arms, airplane seats with no seat belt extender, shopping for clothes in regular stores, etc. I'm also looking forward to: Shaving behind my knees and getting it all Being able to paint my toenails myself Sitting at my job without my butt falling asleep Not hurting everyday Being able to actively help on our sailboat and not feeling like a beached whale on deck. Going on a bike ride with my boyfriend and making it more than 2 miles. Kayaking (I'll post others as I think of them) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
NSVs are my FAVORITE! I have shared them on my Facebook page and I can't tell you how many people have said it was refreshing to hear another plus size person talk about our struggles and victories! It is great to get support from them and inspire them to keep going as well. Here is my top 10 list! 1. I can cross my legs! 2. I have extra room in an airplane seat belt. 3. I'm down 4 pants sizes. 4. I can now shop in non-plus size stores. 5. I can sit cross-legged on the floor. 6. I can survive a Zumba class without dying! lol 7. I'm off all my blood pressure meds! 8. My wedding rings fit once again. 9. My husband has joined me in eating healthy and has lost over 60 lbs! 10. I can comfortably sit in a restaurant booth and don't have to worry about fitting in certain chairs. I can't wait to hear about yours when you get there!

@@charley27They can come at any time! That's the beauty of NSV's! Your scale may be acting stubborn for a few days or even a week and you find yourself getting down over it, then the lovely little Non Scale Victories pop up and make everything right in the world again! Good luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm only 2 weeks post-op but my first NSV was pulling out a dress shirt from wayyyy back in my closet (it actually had dust on it, that's how long it's been since I wore it last) and I buttoned it up and it fit. I'm a teacher and one of my many goals is to wear buttoned shirts and ties to school. I never have before because they were uncomfortable and I just didn't like how I looked in them. I've got a month and a half to make it happen! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My favorite nsv is when someone says to me that my weight loss is inspirational. It has happened 3 times so far and I'm only 6 weeks post.

Calling all February 1st Sleevers!
prettyCali916 replied to arenea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone! Missed you guys! Feels like forever... We are coming up on our 6-month-aversarry! :-) I'm doing pretty great! Foods are agreeing with me, working out some, etc. I started officially at 293 and I am now at 208.8 so that's over 80 pounds down since surgery! I am very excited and happy... I have a check up on August 11th and I hope to at least be 199 by then... I would be so happy if that happened... NSV's *I am at my 2009 weight which is the weight I was at when I got married. My hubs is deployed so when he gets back he won't be able to recognize me which is amazing! jk! Hes been so supportive. We facetime all the time so he knows what I look like now, but still the effect in person is going to be crazy! *I had knee surgery after I hurt my knee in 2012. I have always been 217 plus post knee surgery. This is the first time I've weighed this little since that knee surgery and I feel amazing. No knee pain at all. *I am a size 12 in dresses! Down from a tight 16. *I am a size 14 in pants! Down from a tight 18. *My BMI was 47. Now its 33.7. Only downside to anything is hair loss. Yeah. I lost a lot in a patch but that's because I wasn't diligently taking my Vitamins. I have since started taking them all, each day, on time and the hair has mostly grown back. That's it! Hope everyone is well! Looking forward to the 6 month mark!!! Keep up the good work ladies! -
This is a fun topic! My first NSV was wearing a pair of denim shorts out in public! Never did that before and I am 25 years old!! haha

My first NSV was having only one chin.

I thought that the relationship between losing weight/appetite level/clothing size was straight forward, but now I'm confused and need perspective. As a 3-month post-op, I only had 1 fill so far and I wanted to get my second fill since it took me 1 week just to lose 1 pound, and then I remained the same weight for another week. My surgeon said I should come in for another fill once my weight loss stalls. I am feeling hungrier, but I still only eat once or twice a day. When I'm hungry I try ignore the sensation as long as possible. Part of me feels that if I get a second fill it just might be too tight for me to eat anything, or it'll take away the hunger sensation like I felt in the first post-op month. Since last week I also had NSV. When I went to buy work uniforms the salesperson took out size M when I asked for L, and it fit! Even in highschool (before the weight gain of my mid 20s) I always wore size L, but the number on the scale doesn't seem to match this newer clothing size. I'm still 41 pounds over my goal weight. My bra band size is also down another 2 inches since the measurement was taken. (I can't exactly remember my previous waist size measurement, I need to write this stuff down!) I'm also moving to a new place soon that's a 4.5 hours drive away, so I'd like your input on whether I should go ahead and squeeze in an appointment for a second fill or just wait longer once there's no other noticeable NSV.

365 days to a new me
Chrysalis77 replied to Chrysalis77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
DAY 14 6 Days pre-op Sooooo I had both a NSV and a stark reminder of why I am on this journey today. First I put on some pants I haven't worn since I started my pre-op diet and they were really loose. Like- probably should have them taken in soon loose. I am also starting to notice a difference in my face which is exciting. Now on to the bad- beyond having to buy two airplane seats in Southwest and then explain to everyone who wanted to sit next to me that the seat was "reserved" and beyond having to ask for a seatbelt extender... Today I had to call down to the front desk a request a change of hotel rooms for a handicap room. The toilet in the bathroom of my very nice hotel was wedged tightly between the sink and the shower, with not more than an inch on each side. My hips could not comfortably fit and since I am staying for three days I had to ask for a new room. I would be completely demoralized except I know I am doing everything I can to change my future. Next time I am in town I will not need special accommodations! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I too have some people in my life like this. But I try to keep in mind that's it's their body like this is mine. I don't promote the surgery. I let myself be overweight too forever and I didn't want it because of loose skin. I came to the decision in my own time. And I'm quick to remind people asking me about how to lose weight that I'm no expert. I spent years doing all kinds of dieting. I just say that I found something that works for me! That's what everyone needs to do. And when folks start talking about all the 'loose skin' and whatever downsides they can think of...I quickly get on the subject of my now size 10 clothes, bikini and any NSV. Things they certainly can't relate too. It just evens the odds a bit, ya know. (and @her1981...really! she's there taking your old 'fat' clothes and trying to naysay at the same time. You know you feel good about yourself when you don't just go off on people like that. 155lbs gone! you rock!)

Anyone else thinking prematurely to get rid of fat clothes
SimiStar replied to trekker954's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I heard that you should keep at least one pair of your 'At my biggest' jeans to compare and put on when your x months down the path to a new you. That way you can really feel that difference. A good NSV moment. Especially on stall weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone else thinking prematurely to get rid of fat clothes
biginjapan replied to trekker954's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm months away from my surgery but I can tell you that this is something that I can't wait to do! I live in Japan so I've always been stuck with the double-whammy of not being able to buy clothes here and the fact that Japanese homes and apartments have very little closet space. For the former it's bad because I have to save everything, unless it is literally falling apart, in case I lose weight (!), but it's made worse by the latter because since virtually all my closets are bursting with boxes and boxes of extra clothes. I can't wait to have free space again! That said, I'm not getting rid of anything until I've actually had the surgery and I can see the weight coming off. Like others have said, I'll probably get rid of things when I'm 2 sizes out. This is definitely a NSV I'm looking forward to. -
I buttoned my shorts today (day #3 post-op) without having to pull both sides tight and sucking in my gut! First NSV of many to come.
