Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

Think of it like gasoline in a car....... put the same one gallon in two cars and one might get 30 miles on it while the other might only get 10. How it is absorbed by the body definitely makes a difference, so I'll consider their claims until I hear definitive information to the contrary. I have been using GENEPRO for over a year and only tried it after I could not find a single other Protein powder I could stand. (And I tried them all) It has worked very well for me, so I keep using it. To each their own.

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I buy it from Amazon. I am a Prime member and the shipping is free and comes in 2 days. Plus it's only $38 and is flavorless. I bought unjury and half of the container is still sitting in my cupboard. I should just throw it out as it is awful. I put one scoop of GENEPRO in my coffee every morning religiously. If I have oatmeal I add it in before I heat it up. It mixes better. I don't count my grams, calories, carbs, Water etc. I just always have Protein first and water to drink as often as I can. Good luck- LA

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I have been using it for aproximately 10 months. I have read all the negatives but I can tell you I love it and it works for me. A gentleman that worked for the company contacted me after reading I was having a hard time getting my Protein in after surgery. Stated his mother inlaw used it after her surgery....he even sent me some samples. With GENEPRO I have been able to keep my protein level up to the 120 that I need with a DS. I still have a real hard time with most meats. Since I have been able to keep my protein up and have kept up with my Vitamins I have not lost any of my hair (I was expecting to since I did lose all of my hair with a previous surgery). My hair is back thick like it was when I was young and it is curly and I have never had curly hair!!! Just stating this has worked for me I have no complaints.....I count it as 30gm of protein....I mix it with Crystal Light Lemonade and keep it on my desk and sip on it all day....If I'm a little short at the end of the day....I mix another one and take it to bed with me and sip on it all night.....I get Water in at the same time.
  5. Hi everyone. I'm 14 months post-op at goal and looking for ways to increase my Protein intake to increase my muscle weight as I exercise. I came across recommendations for GENEPRO on this website but the claims of one scoop having 30 grams of protein seemed too good to be true. After a bit of research on Amazon reviews and searching here it seems others have caught on too. It seems the label is possibly misleading and never states what a serving size is. one scoop may only have 15 grams of protein. I don't have the product so I'm hoping someone out in Bariatric land can confirm the facts and let me know! Can someone also tell me how many calories are in a scoop? http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/330098-Genepro-Users-check-this-out%2E/page__view__findpost__p__3730842

    Protein in coffee

Every morning I have a cup of coffee with GENEPRO unflavored Protein in it. It mixes in with hot or cold beverages just fine. I get it from Amazon. 30 grams of protein and it's affordable. ~LA

    Unflavored Protein

Thanks for the Genepro recommendation. I'm 14 months post-op at goal weight and have never heard of it! I'm trying to build up muscle weight so looking to add in some more protein to my diet. Can you tell me how many calories are in a serving? I also looked it up on amazon and came across this review. One scoop may only have 15 grams of protein in it, not 30 grams. Does it actually say on the container a serving size is one scoop? Many can be misleading. I know on my isopure you have to use two scoops to get the protein amount listed on the label.

    Unflavored Protein

Genepro protein powder is the only way to go! I bought mine on Amazon. It's a little more expensive but trust me, it's worth it! 30 grams of protein in a little spoon full. It is tasteless, and a very light consistency that mixes up and dissolves right into literally anything you put it in whether its hot or cold. I usually add it to my coffee every morning, but have also put it in yogurt, oatmeal, soups, etc. I also learned about it right here on Bariatric Pal

    Unflavored Protein

I use GENEPRO....it is unflavored and oderless. You can mix it hot or cold. I have been using it for the last ten months and I love it. I had a hoorible time finding a Protein drink I could tolerate right after my surgry.....they all gagged me! I mix mine with Crystal Light (or Wyler...it is cheaper) lemonade and sip on it all day.....30 grams of protein per tablespoon.....so you don't have all the clumping and yucky stuff!

    Freezing Homemade Broth?

Hi there, congratulations on all! Big new chapter opening in your life! I, too, am a planner. Made quite a bit of cauliflower smush and had to toss some, but what the heck. As for broth, I make it regularly and have a freezer full of jars. I have been using Genepro protein powder which mixes very well into everything I've tried so far. 30 grams for a tablespoon, less than 100 calories.

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

@@GutBgone Good luck with your journey. Hopefully each day will get better. I think not being able to easily drink water will be an adjustment. Living in Maui where it is warm all year long I constantly drink water. It will be odd not to gulp down 1/2 a bottle in 5 seconds. @@Sutter Phoenix @@megan143 I really like the Unjury chocolate drink....I couldnt handle the smell of the unflavoured Unjury. I did find GenePro Protein to have no taste and no smell. I was able to get a few sample packets for a few dollars so I could test it out before I ordered the big package. Good Luck Everyone.
  13. @@jas84047, I'm a big fan of the lemon tea, and using a shaker bottle fixed my foam and clump problems completely. Avoid GENEPRO - it's impossible to have 30 g of Protein in 15 g of powder, their labelling is misleading and no studies to date have shown their 15 g of protein to be better absorbed, etc, than other protein isolates. Another, savory option, is pho broth. It's rich, salty, savory, and packed with protein. Check out the recipe here if you like - this stuff kept me going post-op and had enough calories (more than Syntrax per volume) to give my body what it needed to heal quickly despite the minimal volumes I was able to consume. I also have a protein-packed jello-like recipe if you like here. Congrats, by the way, on your surgery choice - I'm so excited for you - this side of things is beautiful!

Syntrax Nectar taste - Clear liquid help

@@jas84047 I use TG's and GENEPRO. Genepro has 30g per scoop, which is half the amount of most unflavored powders, but there have been questions about whether or not it can truly offer such Protein value per 15g serving. So I alternate it with TG's, which has a hefty scoop, and not as high protein value (I believe it is 25g per scoop). Yes, there is a taste to unflavored protein, I liken it to coffee creamer flavor, but not as sweet. With the Water Enhancer drops, you hardly notice the protein flavor. Remember, unflavored does NOT mean there is no flavor, it is just that they don't ADD flavor. You can also add the powder to just about anything wet: Soups, V8, other juices (watch the carbs!), scrambled eggs, coffee/tea (try iced - I like chai-spice iced tea!!!) chili, stews..... You may have to mix it with a little cool water before adding it to hot foods (or it might clump). Be creative and when you find new ways to use it, please SHARE!!!!! I meant to say TWICE the protein of most powders, for GenePro. Not half. SORRY! It is half the scoop size.

    Bai5 drinks

@TEXASLADY52 I also use the GENEPRO and have since day one. I use it in my 32oz of decaf tea every morning to give me a jumpstart for the day for my Protein intake and liquid. I have no problems getting all my protein or liquid in, but these drinks just give me a yummy alternative to just decaf tea and Water. I cannot do the crystal light or liquid enhancers, I cannot stand the aftertaste and how I feel even after 1 sip. @Kindle I didn't see the caffeine in them, but that doesn't bother me at all. I drink the decaf tea now because my surgeon said it was better for me. I am just so excited to have other options that are not full of calories and sugar!!

  18. One week and one day out. No more pain. Never had nausea. I can't stand protein shakes now. I am using genepro to get my protein in. Mixing it diet juice or creamy soups. I'm not hungry at all. I slept on my side again last night which was heavenly.

    Help

GENEPRO by musclegen doesn't taste like anything!!!! I bought mine from lucky Vitamin.com with buying two bags it was $60 free shipping. It basically comes to $1 a day if you use 1 serving a day. It's 98 calories, 1 tablespoon serving. I add it to Greek yogurt so I get 42 grams of Protein in one sitting. (Some people think you can only absorb a certain amount of protein at once both my nutritionist and my surgeon told me that was absolutely ridiculous) at 42 grams I only have to eat 18 more grams of protein a day to reach my goal of 60. You can also get two samples of the Genepro off their website for $3.50. It's a fantastic product you can't beat!!!

    unflavored powders question

Remember, unflavored doesn't mean there is no flavor, it means they ADD no flavor to it. To me unflavored protein powder has a creamy, almost coffee-creamer taste, kinda like powdered milk. I don't mind it in the slightest, and it is milky-looking when added to liquid. I prefer it to pre-made shakes. I use TG's, found on Amazon.com. I also use Genepro. Hope this helps!
  25. So I'm on the puréed/soft phase and made several recipes I saw on here and they have been great. But today I made one myself.... chicken artichoke spinach cups 1 -12 oz can of chicken breast 1/2 cup quartered artichokes (chop fine) 1 tbs minced garlic Pepper to taste 1 cup spinach raw (chopped fine) 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 cup light sour cream 1 scoop GENEPRO Protein powder Heat the chicken in a skillet and make sure it's shredded. Add garlic and chopped up artichokes (I use a food processor). Then add chopped spinach and mix well. While heating, mix parm cheese, Protein Powder and sour cream (I use a food processor). Remove chicken mix from heat, stir in cheese mixture. Once well combined, place 1/2 cup mixture into lined muffin pan...repeat for total of 4 muffin cups. You can eat it fresh or freeze for 3 hrs and remove, placing each in freezer bag. Then reheat as needed. Each muffin cup is a serving: 206 cal, 30g protein, 8g fat, 5g carbs It was so yummy!
