What is normal weight loss within first 2-3 weeks
HetKF replied to 2muchfluff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 11/29 too. I have lost 26 lbs. so far and Monday will begin soft foods on week 3. I have also stalled with losing weight. Seems like when I started pureed food it slowed things down. I think it's your body readjusting to your caloric intake. Excuse the TMI but bowel movements have once again begun as well. So, hopefully it will begin again. I have an appt. with my MD this coming Thursday so I will ask them then. I can't wait to get back on my AeroPilates machine in another 3-4 weeks. Then it will melt off. -
Oh and in the interest of TMI, I HATE the slapping sound of by flaccid stomach against the top of my thighs. It's horrifying.

5 months Sleeve to MGB post-op pic
NuHorizons replied to NuHorizons's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Hi I started a light walking routine 3 weeks after surgery, but I stopped around 7 weeks post op due to my bowel movement schedule(TMI). I was working out early in the morning, but that's when I would spend the most time in the bathroom. Especially, in the beginning when my body was getting adapted to the MGB. My bm are regular know, so I plan on starting going back to the gym or doing some type of at home workout plan. I have a Fitbit and I average about 8,000 steps daily mostly at work. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks before I moved to protein shakes, cream soups and soft foods. -
Who da thunk it! It feels like I've had this sleeve FOREVER. Im not hungry at all, but I have this strange urge to see "what" I can eat. I've licked spoons people. I licked a mashed potato spoon, a chili spoon, a tunafish fork (LOL) and I nibbled a chicken nugget. I dunno why I feel the need. I haven't gotten sick and I was incredibly full afterward, but I just feel like the diet is so boring at this stage and time is ticking S-L-O-W-L-Y. Im not supposed to be on mushies and I'm really afraid I will break something, but I just feel the need to "chew"? I've read about this but kinda dismissed it like I did when my cousin tried to tell me there was NO SANTA...Yeah right!! I don't believe it. Well believe it. Our heads tell us to do stupid things and if they didn't I'd be willing to bet 50% of us wouldn't be here anyway. I've been feeling pretty good; I started work today and haven't had a nap yet:thumbup1: Only other thing(s): Im cold as HELL (if it is cold there). I have the heat on in my office today and I don't want to leave out. My tape hasn't fallen off and one of my incisions looked ugly this morning. It had some discharge (not smelly) and it looked like if I pulled the tape back any farther it would open there was a little pink (MAYBE TMI...but I was worried). I was told not to worry about this and to keep a watch on my temp and other signs of infection. It doesn't hurt at all, but I'm really squeamish and the fact that I see the pink makes me want to faint:eek:. I've lost 10 lbs so far. Probably would have been more if I hadn't had an obsession with full liquids and spoon licking. But I'm satisfied, because thanks to my sleeve---I'll never see those 10 lbs again!

So I guess this is the right way to poop!! Lol so I hope it can help some of you!! -
hi all. Ive posted already about being tight, not being able to eat meat and other issues. WEll, i kept a small portion of smoked cod from last nights tea. i thought i would have it for my lunch today and see how i go with Soup tonight as i seem to be tighter of a night. I had about five small mouthfuls of fish. Chewed well, waited. Then the discomfort started up all over again. Ive been getting this nearly every meal now...not quite so bad at bfast time but faint in the background. . The discomfort builds, i feel everything churning around. it comes back into the eosophagus, i start to salivate, get the hiccups,, all that sort of thing. Throughout this i need to swallow a lot. i feel like im swallowing air . its very very painful. i feel quite faint im so unwell. Anyway... (TMI... im sorry. lol.) ive just been through another episode. It kept getting worse and then projectile vomiting of mucus. i just had time to reach the loo. i just hate to think if it happened to me out somewhere. I feel better now. O.k.... so do you think id better go get some of the fill taken out? im worried now that my eosophagus may be inflamed. after all, its a daily ocurrance now. this is the first time i have had to vomit though. Ive decided to ring the dr in the morning. I have to go to the city on the 30th. i will make an appointment to see him then. Meantime its back to liquids i think. I cant got to the city before the 30th... so do you think just liquids from now until then? all input gratefully received. thanks.

----hi Jaime I'm exactly 4 weeks out today; surgery was 12.12 Struggling with Hernia repair recovery and scared to really try more soft solids such as tuna and grilled fish or even eggs I tried thinned out oatmeal at one week out and it literally sat in my chest like a bag of sand -- and that was only one tablespoon that took me 45 minutes to get through My doc prescribed me carafate about 2 weeks ago to help with the pulsing pain and pressure so things have gotten Better but I'm still nervous. I'm going to try egg whites this weekend in the comfort of my home and see how it goes I'm getting in more Protein shakes and Water these days which is giving me more energy --- I was super super weak for the majority of the past 4 weeks I think I'm stalled at 210.4 now -- been here since Monday jan 6 after a streak of coming down a pound or so a day Started losing weight on my own in oct 2013 -- from 260 to about 237 Then surgery on 12.12 and now steady at 210.4 after 4 weeks -- I'm 5'7" My ultimate goal is to maintain 165-170 so time will tell; I think it's realistic with all the carb and sweet restrictions and of course our automatic portion control device dde09 I plan to start spin classes in a few weeks depending on how I feel -- I loved spinning prior to vsg and miss it dearly So where are you now? How's recovery? I was still pretty miserable at 2 weeks out; was even hospitalized for dehydration on day 11 and just came over a bout of painful constipation (TMI but I wouldn't wish that on anyone) Be sure to Stay hydrated!!!! Wow, sounds like you have been through a lot over the last 4 weeks. I too had 2 hernia repairs but my recovery has been pretty easy. My main complaint is that I HATE drinking the Protein Shakes and wish I could move into regular foods soon. I started at 220 and am now at 206, the scale hasn't moved since Wednesday so hopefully that will come soon. I was able to get the most amount of protein and liquids in today so I am happy about that. As happy as I am it also makes me think if it only took 2 weeks to be able to drink more I am sure I will be able to eat more too. I know this is a tool but I have read a lot of people saying that everything is going slow and it's a bit discouraging. I guess I will have to wait and see. Good luck to you - I also hope to get back on my spinning bike, I miss it greatly but want to be ready when I walk back into the studio!Keep I touch! Feel good.

Sue---my surgeon said that to do one without the other, left people so unhappy, he does it as part of the procedure most of the time now. He said some minor lipo, then simple skin manipulation of the mons would do it for me. Warning this might well be TMI----but following my chemo, not a lot of pubic hair regrew--so he said my pubic hair line being nonexistant will allow him to make a smooth transition without much problem. He too discouraged one without the other. He said we might not notice the bulge of it now, being hid under the belly---but after it is gone, if they do not do the mons lift, it is highly noticable, in cases like mine anyway. So it is getting done as well. Mine is going to just be hip bone to hip bone he is not extending it. My hips, my back, and my butt are all in fair shape for what hell I have put them through!!! I do not have love handles, or muffin top problems--------just a hanging belly. Right now it is a huge shock that I don't just fall on my face and lie there, all my weight is in the boobs and belly!!!!! Kat

how do you know when you're full?
CHEZNOEL replied to karanicole26's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Side cramps could be constipation, I know TMI. I know when I am full when I hiccup. I am also full when my serving size is gone. Sometimes the signal is slower than I eat. -
Sorry may be TMI. My surgery date is 5/18 and its smack dab in the middle of when my period usually comes. Please tell me, they'll let me wear something during surgery and not just use those blue pads for the bed?? Lol. This has been in my mind since I got my surgery date. ~Jenn~ Surgery date 5/18/16

Hi everyone, sorry if this is TMI but I got sent home with a catheter because my bladder isn't "awake" yet. I'm scheduled for a urologist visit Friday the 26th. Has anyone on here had this problem when coming out of anesthesia? I've had multiple surgeries and never had problems before. This one is not fun. Mike

hazeleyedstef replied to hazeleyedstef's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hey thanks for the advise I took some milk of magnesia and that helped..I finally started releasing gas last night (sorry TMI) and feel better already..cant wait to feel 100 percent again -
So I had my surgery on September 30th and I'm happy to say that things went relatively well. I only had three things I struggled with after surgery. 1. Immediately waking up I was miserable. They gave me everything they legally could and I still thought I was going to die for like 4 hours. 2. My heart rate. At "resting" it was at 115. When I wasn't feeling good it would get over 140. So they watched my heart really close. I think a lot of it was hospital anxiety. They finally got it to calm down with Valium at like 3 in the morning but by calm I mean 110. 3. Peeing. I know tmi but honestly it was the hardest part. My sips were fine. Swallowing was easy. But when it came to going to the bathroom I couldn't go. On surgery day I had to have a catheter because my bladder reached 800cc (catheter requirement is 500cc). I had the catheter over night and when they took it out the next morning I couldn't go on my own. Eventually my bladder got over 500cc again so they used a straight catheter. I didn't go on my own until late that night. THEN I got to go home. I still struggle now. I have to have Water running and use a wet cloth to get me to go. It's weird but it works. In the hospital they tried peppermint oils, showers, everything. It was so frustrating. Now I'm home and I weighed myself. I've lost five pounds already which is odd. Not complaining but I was expecting a weight gain from fluids and swelling. I struggle with Protein. Yogurt feels good in my pouch. The hardest part about being home is my family honestly. All I hear is: walk faster, walk more, you don't need your pain pills, how's that baby food taste?, don't you wish you could have a pop tart. They actually went grocery shopping specifically for junk food because they know I can't eat it and then ordered pizza. When I said something about it "I wasn't being compassionate" and "I knew what I was getting into".... Mk so let's send an alcoholic to a 12 step program just for them to come home and be like "look at all the booze we bought". I literally just cried. This whole process they were supportive saying we "are all making changes together" and I come home to this. I feel alone. I feel like it's not fair. I've worked really hard to change my life and I feel like I'm being punished because I chose wls. can anyone else relate?

:clap2: Well all i got my first fill!! Wahoo! I went down with my mother last friday and stayed the night in San antonio. I got up Saturday morning and was SICK SICK SICK!!! :sick couldnt walk straigh so dizzy and then was hurling! I know TMI! lol BUt if youve ever had to hurl with the band its a WILD EXPERIENCE!!! I dont want to do again! haha Anyway Barbara..one of Dr Rods Patient advocate.. and terri picked us up at 7:20am and i slept most of the way to Acunia ..spelled wrong im sure lol.. Mexico. We stopped in uvalde to meet up with our other two girls and go into walmart to walk around and potty..i had brought some replenishing Fluid stuff my husband drinks called "squinchers" with me and drank one of those and felt much better! We got to the Dr new office which is AWESOME if you havent seen it! Dr Cortez is dreamy just like Dr Rod! =0) I let the other girls go first cause i was still dizzy feeling and was nervous about the fill and making sure everything was ok inside me since when i had my first fill wiht my first band was when we found my "issues".. So it was my turn and me and mom went in so she could take pics and he started the procedure. he has you stand in the flour area while he does this..you can see in the pics attached He numbed the area with this little tiny needle that i didnt feel at all and i was watching the flouro screen ..in first and secon pic before ...and had my knees buckled..note to all..dont buckle your knees!!..well the next thing i knew i was in a chair dry heaving again! :faint: :sick GRRR i was mad! I sat there a minute and go composure and said "lets do this thing" And stood up and we started again..he was very fast so i had no time to hit the floor again lol the last 2 pics are the needle he injected saline with..see how it bends..eeekkk:eek: the nurse handed me the barium and i took it with my shaky hand and drank a few times till the dr had put in 2.5 cc and stopped there. I never once felt ANY PAIN AT ALL! :target: Not even the tiny numbing needle! Was awesome! Felt so relieved to see my band and see the restriction the fill was giving me! We left and ate that awesome Soup at a resturant in the building to test our bands before heading back to texas and then headed out shopping! We drove back to sanantonio that evening and me and mom flew back that night. Was a great experience and can not wait to go again which may be next month or in septmeber cause i think i need more restriction... thanks for reading ..just thought id share a fill experience! HAve a great day! locating port numbing the area Fill Time! Look at how that thing bends!!! EEEEKKKK! Its a large needle but tiny in diameter! He has a little adjuster on the side that he turns .5 cc at a time so as to not overfill. It stops his syringe at where he sets it.

I dont know if it is still normal or not. But ever since surgery I am very aware of my liver or in the region where my liver is. Here is where the TMI might come in for some. Dont know if i should call doctor or what. Mostly during active moments. Like sex for example. It is very uncomfortable there (where my liver is). First of all I have to put pressure on that area even to function. I dont know if it is just bruised or should I be worried.

VVV, I was sleeved on 8/25 and I regretted it for about two days after. I was in pain. It does get better. You start to realize what gives you gas, what you can tolerate and what to avoid. I've learned everything except broth makes me gassy. Lol. TMI. Each day will get better. You had major surgery. Your body needs to heal itself. You've been through a trauma. But, you took the first major step in getting the surgery. Keep your chin up.

I get a similar sensation, but in my case (TMI) it's because I have very active sinuses, and their "product" can collect at the base of my throat and collect, almost like a ball that I can feel, esp. when I swallow. Any chance you're draining? Have allergies that could cause this? It's getting to be that time of year again.

I guess this is such, a difficult thing because I have faced this in another situation all my life. Ok here,we go, coffee and tmi. I am married 38yrs. We have no children by choice. You cannot imagine the things that have been said to me because we chose to not have children. I have fielded those ugly remarks all my life. My response was always the same. "Children are a lifelong commitment and I chose not to take on that responsibility." I never though that made me selfish, but rather that I understood what having children would require of me and I knew what I would need to do and chose not to. Does that make me less of a woman, selfish, or uncaring? No not at all, but it's the least of what I have told.,by people who are close. Sometimes you don't always get roses and candy from everyone around you. Thank God for my husband, who from day 1 when I mentioned it, said, "babe, let's check it out and learn about it and if you make the decision to do it, I am 100% with you." Needless to say I cried tears of happiness when we went to my first app together. This has been a long 6 month wait. All the approvals, all the visits. At this point, down to the wire to get my date in July, I am going in secretly. One thing I do know. If my journey inspires someone else. I will be there right with them along the way with all the support I can give. Such am emotional moment and I know there will be more. Coffee is cold now...thank you all who come here to lend support, who give your whole journey to us as an open book. You cannot begin to imagine how precious that is. Love you all. Luna13 replied to Cober1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! I had my surgery on the same day! Not having those symptoms. I had some other problems tho the MD said it was the same. Also I started my Vitamins today so that may contribute on my TMI issue. I cant believe you're going back to work already. My MD wont let me go back for 2wks I think you just have to keep moving. When I sit for to long I also get real tired! Best of luck! -
Birth Control Pills Ok To Swallow?
duckydoom replied to akurre12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My docs made sure that I was on bc before they'd even talk to me (I'm using the ring, and I echo the "sorry for the TMI" sentiments above). I have a friend who had the sleeve done recently though, and she had to be off of her bc for a month before they'd have her in surgery at all. So, I'm curious to see what my doc says about any forms of hormonal bc. -
Port pain 4 1/2 months after surgery
Tara201 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all... I've been searching around internet for info and figured why not just put this out there for some feedback Had surgery aug 30...all going fairly well Every so often if I move in my sleep a funny way or twist a funny way or do something strenuous I get pain in my port. Sometimes I turn over in the night and feel this twisting like someone yanked my port... Anyway had that 2 nights ago and maybe a little last night. Today I have pain if I bend over...it's not red or anything like that. It's not a burning pain. I took tylenol and put an icepack on it. Any ideas? does this happen to anyone else? maybe I slept crazy I woke up with a stiff neck too....I'm also a little gasey (i know tmi). The pain is on my left side right below my rib right near my port. If I lay still it doesn't hurt... Guess just like to hear any thoughts Thanks for reading tara -
Yep, my stomach wasn't right for the rest of the evening. I even threw up (sorry TMI) as I was leaving the hospital right after the Upper GI.

Started my Preop Diet...
megan143 replied to MarceMonster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So interestingly enough, I've had migraines since I was 6 years old and this didn't even cross my mind before starting the preop diet (or even when considering wls). This may be TMI, but my migraines are triggered by a number of things but I can at least count on one every month with hormonal changes lol. If I were to get a migraine this month it would/should have coincided with day 3 of my preop diet. Shockingly I didn't even realize I didn't have one because I've been so focused on doing well on the diet. When you posted this I realized that this is the ABSOLUTE FIRST month I have NOT had a hormonal migraine. Now, my average cal consumption on the diet has been 700-900 (I promise you thats the lowest amount I have ever willingly consumed lol), and I have yet to have a migraine. I hope this gives you some comfort! And I've said it before and I'll say it again... if you're eating >100mg protein, physically you will most likely NOT feel hungry, mentally you will. You can do it!
