  1. Here Goes; I have been in denial & coming back home to this forum has made me "see" that I have a lot of work to do & accountability. In the Spring of 2020 during the height of COVID my neighbors dog ran out on me and as I stumbled while trying to get away from the dog I fell, hit the concrete, & couldn't move. I had broken a bone in my back. I cried at every day for at least 2 weeks due to the pain. I was immobilized and the work I did outside of my home that had me active, lifting heavy items, & always moving I could no longer due. Here 1 1/2 years later I continue to have back issues. If I walk too long, lift too much or sit too long I am in pain. Although I can't consume a lot of food at one time, I know I am getting calories in with the wrong things. After surgery I was no longer able to drink straight water, it would make me nauseated and it would come back up so I know I am not getting enough fluids in. I am vitamin deficient (lab results) and I have put too much of my time into helping family & friends that honestly, I forgot about me. I was at 163lbs now I am at 190. I was 33lbs from goal now I am at 60lbs from goal. I know to some it may not seem like a lot but most of us know losing 5lbs takes a lot of effort! Bariatric Pal Forums: Coming back home & reading posts after being away so long has made me look at myself in the mirror & remember what I did in the first place that made my weight loss successful. SO HERE I GO: recommitting to myself; committing to the 30/15 rule (wait to eat 15 mins after drinking and wait to drink 30 mins after eating), COUNTING my calories & making sure I get in my grams of protein (which Unjury is a great brand), finding health zero cal/sugar enhancers to get my water in daily; & getting back to strength training that would not put a strain on my back. I don't know about you guys but COVID time gave me an excuse to cancel my Planet Fitness membership 😕 Am I going to do what they call a "pouch reset"? Nawhhhh...I'm doing a recommitment to self reset. I know what to do & I have all the tools (food scale, portion control serving utensils etc.) I am raising the bar once again for my life. Thank you Fitness Pal Family for always being here and giving all of us prodigal children a home to come back to. eating reset back to basics.doc
  2. I had my surgery on January 5th, I am two weeks postop and am on a full liquid diet. Needing some ideas on stuff to eat, I’ve been doing two bites of yogurt and egg drop soup/tomato soup. I’ve been doing my protein drinks too but need ideas for a variety of foods. Thank you in advance
  3. Monday is the big day. I’ve been up and down all week.
  4. I've got the one sure-fire way to avoid stalls: Get off the scale. Scales are crazy-makers. You know the saying that a watched pot never boils? Well, a watched scale never moves. Trust your plan and the weight will come off. Good luck, Tek
  5. yes. Stalls usually last 1-3 weeks
  6. Hi, I had my sleeve done on Dec.27th. In 2 days I will be 4 weeks post-op. I've been walking more and more. I was wondering if anyone did anything else besides walking this early on? I was in the mood to play my Just Dance games on Xbox and WII but don't know that I should yet. Any comments or suggestions would be very much appreciated!!
  7. Hello everyone. On Tuesday, it will be 8 weeks since I had gastric sleeve surgery. I am having a long stall. It's been over two weeks where I keep gaining and losing the same 2 lbs. Is it normal to stall this long? Thank you.
  8. The last six months I'm averaging 650-700 calories. My surgeon told me at my 3 month check up that 700 cal is too low to up it to 900-1000 cal but I can't wrap my head around it. 😢 I have this fear that if I go to 900 cal, it'll soon be 1000 cal, to 1200 cal... And more based on my history. I believe that I'll stay around 700 cal until I hit my goal and then increase it to the calorie amount necessary to maintain it. My appetite is still in check and had read that my appetite will increase at the 6 months to a year anyway. Riding the wave.

    Any October 2021 Surgeries?

October 8th, emergency surgery on the 10th, second emergency surgery on the 15th! Finally was able to start eating puréed foods at the very end of December/beginning of January. I was finally told I can eat foods except bread, pasta and raw vegetables but I can’t eat more than about 700 calories a day and now my weight loss has stalled and I don’t know why. It is very frustrating after all the issues I have had. Happily take advice, please!!!

    No weight loss week 2!

it's the infamous three week stall. It just came a little early for you (actually, it did for me as well, I had it weeks 2 and 3). Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days. It'll break and you'll be on your way again. That happens to probably 90% of us. if you want to read about this stall, do a search on this site for the "three week stall". You'll find over 17,000 posts on it. And no, I am NOT kidding.

I I was told that as well but then 2 weeks before my surgery they said I should start with shakes, small meal is chicken and vegetables lunch, small fruit and shake for dinner. I’m assuming to get used to the amount of calories you will be trying to take in post op. I am on all clear liquids on Sunday for surgery on Monday.
  12. Hi everyone. I don’t really know what I’m hoping to gain from this but I’m panicking about! Im 2 weeks post gastric sleeve and the first week I lost 11lbs (not as much as I thought I would but still good!) but this last week Iv lost 0.5lbs! Wth! Im so upset! Iv been doing everything Iv been told to! Please someone tell me this is normal or what I can do to actually fix this! Thankyou 😘
  13. I mean, a fact of human life is we need breaks You're doing so well otherwise, don't beat yourself up! Time to enjoy not being over BMI35 anymore - our risk dropped with the pounds. I caught delta 5 weeks back and I'm glad to have it overwith, and they can come with omicron, too. We're all going to get it anyway, and now we're no longer morbidly obese, so yay us, we'll live.

    Gout Flare-up, time-frame, and remedies

My brother had this same problem, doctor told him it would likely flare after his surgery. It sure did. Made the first weeks more miserable. On the flip side, surgeon said after that it should improve or go away after the weight loss.
  15. make sure you get adequate rest between workout days most people train 3 days rest 1, you will be able to gain muscle and tone up nicely providing you train correctly. you will need to lift the heaviest weight you can to build muscle and get that nice muscle definition, I would assume your gym would have someone there to guide you with this. It will take about 3 months for you to notice changes

    Help!!!

The EXACT same thing is happening to me. I'm walking 10,000 steps (5 miles) a day and drinking my water, focusing on protein, etc. The scale is going UP! What the hell?! I don't think either one of us are doing anything wrong. I think we're in a stall based on our increased physical activity. Scales suck!
  17. I feel ya. The time around 3 or 4 days was rough. IT DID GET BETTER. I am on day 9 post-op and honestly, I am more tired and sick (throwing up) yesterday and today than ever before. I also can't get warm. Yesterday I was sweating with low-grade temp but was also freezing. I hope that I did not get an infection. I am fully vaxed and boosted but everyone at my husband's work is sick with cold/ flu so maybe I just caught something. I still want to drink but just can't take in much. Paperwork says to intake 64 ounces a day. I was able to do 2oz every 15 minutes yesterday but no way today. Be well!

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah this tastes super sweet I couldn't take it after like 3 days

Only 9 pounds almost 4 weeks post op

Here it is almost 3 months for me and it seems like I’ve hit a stall again! I barely eat and having issues with hydration. This is becoming really frustrating just at about 40lbs. Since surgery on the 8th of Nov. but now no weight loss for a week. My level of frustration is UNEXPLAINABLE
  21. I cannot wait until I have sushi again😩 I am 2 weeks post vsg surgery
  22. I have tried a lot of things because I travel a lot for work, so I'm eating out constantly. 1. Panera - Warm Mediterranean bowl with chicken. I ate about half (almost none of the rice - next time I will skip the rice; I didn't know it came with rice) 2. Chipotle - Bowl with no rice, just beans, meat, and toppings 3. Most restaurants have a grilled chicken sandwich of sorts. Sometimes with cheese, bacon, and flavored mayo. Just skip the bun and the fries

    Doing it all wrong.

My surgery center has no issues with straws and says that carbonated beverages are fine after 4 weeks. I use straws in my iced coffee and I'm drinking a Diet Dr. Pepper right now (No straw but that's personal preference). OP needed to get something in their stomach. They accomplished that. Was it ideal? No, but passing out wouldn't have been better. I agree with your suggestions on pre-made protein drinks, bone broth, sugar-free popsicles, and jello. I also got Tom Yum and Hot and Sour Soup and just drank the broth. Fluid is more important than protein when you're just starting out
  24. Hi, folks. I got a lap band in 2014 and did well for a few years but the band "migrated" and I had to have it removed. Now I'm going in for gastric bypass 2/3. I am excited to get my body in a healthier place but I'm nervous about the massive changes I will have to learn to live well. The band simply wouldn't allow me to get most things I wanted to eat through. It was more of a surgical device for bulimia than a life-style change tbh. Can you folks who have gone through a band to traditional gastric bypass (not sleeve) surgery tell me what you found to be the MOST helpful tool to maximize your success? I need peeps who've been where I'm heading in 2 weeks.
  25. I'm with you 3 days post op and I'm so nauseated all the time I try to keep taking my nausea meds every 6 hours. My problem I keep getting what feels to be labor pains Dr said was probably just the muscle and the Norco isn't helping Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
