Hang in there, it really does get better. I am 9 weeks post op and I feel great. The weight loss is worth all you are going through. I to had the same "run" problem you are having. It will get better it does just take awhile. Hey that only helps with the weight loss. I second Kathy on the egg drop soup, actually I muffinburdie posted a homemade version of it on here. I printed and plan to make it. Soup is liquid, not sure why you can't have the SF Jello that is clear liquids, I would think. Hang in there...it will all be worth it. I promise!!!

Soft Food Diet Suggestions Please :)
AliveAgain replied to bella143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Laughing Cow cheese is also good, some non/low-fat Greek yogurt, small curd cottage cheese (w/ a little unsweetened applesauce, like 1tbsp), SF pudding made with 2% milk (you can add protein powder!). I could only do a single soft poached eggs at two weeks, and I'm still turned off by canned tuna and chicken. I also made a roasted cauliflower mash (any recipe online works) and added protein powder, it was pretty tasty. -
Yay for you! When I had 20 lbs. left to lose I decided to try and do it by eating a sensible, balanced diet like a healthy, fit person (versus the low carb/high protein I lost the first 70 lbs. with). My weight loss has definitely slowed down (1-2 pounds per week) so I might go back to the low carb diet just so I can accelerate these last few pounds. I too, just WANT TO BE NORMAL. Good luck!
-
This is my point I have not had it yet but when you know you can't go back it changes your mind and gets things right. On Friday I have to start the count down 2 weeks before surgery and I am excited. We will see how it goes.

Hi! New on here too. I will be having surgery in just under three weeks. Good luck to you! Kara

I had my surgery on Monday, too. I am having diarrhea also. I couldn't drink much that first three days either. I think I only had 12 ounces Wednesday, 26 ounces on Thursday, but today I have done much better. I am up to 40 already. I don't seem to have to sip anymore either. That kinds of scares me. I don't want to think now when I start to eat it will me the same.
-
The diarrhea is probably because you are doing nothing but drinking right now. I wouldn't let it worry you unless it seems like you are outputting more than you are inputting. If so, a call to your doc might be in order. As for Protein shakes and drinking Water, do what you can, but remember that your tummies are still VERY tender. It will take a while for them to quit swelling and to allow more food/liquid down the hatch. My doc tells his patients to worry more about getting the water in (small sips!) for the first week or so, then to add in protein as you can tolerate it. He also has his patients take two chewable Vitamins a day until we are back on solids. I just started solids this week, so I'm really feeling the effects of the stomach being smaller. I have to really work to remind my eyes that my stomach can't handle what they think they want. Rex (my tummy) is VERY particular about what he will tolerate right now and how much of anything goes into me. I haven't had anything come back up, but it's been a close call a couple of times. Rex also is not very tolerant of anything even mildly spicy right now. I'm hoping that will ease up as I heal so that I can once again enjoy a nacho or two with jalapenos. Tiffykins gives me hope that I will eventually be able to eat mexican food again, even if it is in greatly reduced quantities.

Today is the day I had my surgery 4 weeks ago (1/5/14). I have three issues, perhaps you veterans may be able to help me? Problem #1: Since then - I cannot get liquids in. I have a hard time getting anything in. It's painful, and I feel like there is a lump or obstruction in the back of my shoulders - centered, not in shoulders as the gas was at first, and it's all about eating/drinking. So far, I found out that you can throw up even if you haven't eaten anything but three or four spoonfuls. This feeling also tells me that I will throw up if I take even one more spoonful, and I have, which is scary and terrible since this. (3 times throwing up is almost my lifetime of throwing up, so it's weird for me.) I cannot get the suggested food in, it's viscously painful and leaves me in terrible shape for over a half hour sometimes. So - recap: not able to drink more than 24 oz. daily, and nowhere near the food suggested. Problem #2: I have no energy. None. I mean, I have a hard time getting out of bed, and doing anything more than sitting on the couch. I only have three kids at home now, but still - three is enough for destruction, trust me. I have been swamped in laundry, the floors look like I blew up my cat and dogs, and I'm really not sure you'll stay disease-free in this house anymore. I bought the B-12 shots have sub-lingual B-12, still - to no energy. Has anyone else had this? Problem #3: This is the most dangerous, but I now am under the care of a wound care specialist. All my surgical openings are - open. They're deep, and ghastly looking. The nurses at the hotel in TJ for Jerusalem Hospital knew, they got really nervous, then called in a superior, he came in - after rapid-fire Spanish discussion - he said, no it's fine, just go home. Don't worry. Behind him, the other two nurses were looking like they didn't agree, and motioned so. Not the most pleasant way to go home all the way to the east coast. Now - I have deep, deep open wounds, they're going to be disgustingly large and will never heal in any way other than Frankenstein. I see the would care specialist every three days, and they're still debating cutting them all open and re-stitching them for five new scars, I suppose lesser than the big open pits - but no consensus on that. At least I'm under medical care. So much for not telling anyone. Can anyone help? Thanks!!!!

Unsuccess story: I have been so bad this summer...
Wendydarling19 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Between family parties and celebrating my last blast for awhile before starting nursing school, working overnights, breaking up with my bf of three years and gaining a new one... This summer has been a hell of a ride and my weightloss efforts have suffered. I really let all of these things take the front seat in my life. I have put my weightloss on the back burner. I did well for awhile and when I get back into that groove I lose pretty quickly. I just saw a 2 week pause and kind of gave up. I can't seem to find the drive to get back into my low carbing and I keep finding that I am making a lot of excuses for myself. I have found out how to eat around the band even though I am pretty tight. I usually have no issues when I eliminate carbs...the band does its job. This is awful and I'm really upset at myself -
Trying to get these pictures to post!!! Everyone's pictures have been such an inspiration. Thanks to all ! 1st is 1 year before band,2nd is 1 day before band,3rd is 6 weeks out,(notice the smile. It doesn't go away anymore)!

It's offical...I got my surgery date!!
Dibley Dawn replied to mjo3393's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Time did seem like it was flying by until i got to the liquid Pre-Op phase ...now it's crawwwwling along. (i'm only on day 2.) My surgery is May 4th and really less than 2 weeks away, so it is very, very close. good luck to you. -
So today i have decided to get back to what i know works. After not going to the gym for the past 10 weeks after the tummy tuck i have really gotten lazy. To top it off, my plastic surgeon removes all the fill and for 8 weeks i had nothing. Talk about getting knocked off my high-horse. For the past two years i had it in my head that should anything happen to my band that i could do it on my own.... boy was i wrong. My hunger came back with a vengeance. I'm hungry all the time and i can eat ANYTHING... since my TT i have gained back 5lbs.... and i'm not happy about that. Now i have 5cc in my band and i'm still hungry. So this week i'm going back for 5 more. I need help with keeping me on track. Two weeks ago i started back at zumba, but i need more. So today i'm going to strap my boobs down and attempt the c25k. I have NEVER ran before. Anyone interested in helping me keep accountable... we can keep each other accountable. Report back either here or via messages on our day. How we did with food and exercise... I don't know about you all.... but i sure could use the help. Let me know..... Thanks everyone and have a wonderful day.

I'm ten weeks out and it's the same for me. Sometimes it comes on for no reason! Doc says that's normal and it will get better. For now, it's worth the 40 lbs I've lost.

This pre-op diet stinks. Major whine
abefroman329 replied to melsabells's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, it does stink. I had a couple of 24-hour periods in the last week before surgery where I took a break and ate regular food. But my surgeon said that patients tell him the pre-op diet is the hardest part of surgery, and he’s absolutely right. -
Hello all. I feel great. No more nausea or difficulty swallowing. I have lost 14 lbs since surgery. One week ago to day. I really can't believe how good I feel. I haven't taken any pain meds in 3-4 days. My staples are out. I have had a BM and drinking liquids like a maniac. I know my body is different. I don't have food cravings and hardly ever hungry. Having to keep up with Protein is a chore but drinking the powder whey and getting the clear isupure is a big help. I plan on using the protein shots in with my pink lemonade or peach diet packets sugar free of course. I have to more weeks of liquids. I will start my smoothies next week when I get home. Oh, still in Dallas with my sisters recovering. Im driving home to Greenville, MS 6 hours away on Saturday. Have to get out and walk for five minutes every hour. If any one has some ideas for the mushy stage give me a hola. Thanks

Hello all, I have not been on hear for some time now, as I have been busy, but it feels good to be back and read what's been going on. So I had a fill last week and was told Clear liquids until Monday. (NO WAY) I was so hungry that night, I had to eat. And I have been eating regular foods ever since. (WHY?) I also got my period the next day, does this have anything to do with it? I feel really bad that I didn't do the clear liquids, but I just could not do it, I had no energy what so ever. I even tried to do it the next day and I had to eat something, I feel really guilty!!!!!! Anyone else experience being hungry after a fill? Also I felt the doctor had a little trouble getting the needle into my port to inject the saline, is this normal? He didn't say anything, but maybe it was just me being nervous since it was the first fill. Down 36 pounds since August 4, 2005

WLS and no exercise? Plateau?

Walking 30 minutes a day helped me break my first stall. Nothing strenuous. I just walk the dogs every evening. -
August 2017 Sleevers
Véronique replied to themaestroswife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's possible that I might be getting my sleeve in August. I'm still in the process of finishing up my medical weight loss classes (I'll be finished on the 13th of July) but I have been very proactive. I have an appointment with my regular therapist (who has already told me that she is comfortable with giving me the clearance) the day after my final class so I can have it ready for the first pre-op appointment. I'm about as complete as one can be (though I have been having some difficulty in getting my primary care provider's practice to release my medical records), so I'm hoping that because of my proactive stance, that I'll be able to have surgery in late August. ... However, early or mid-September is also possible. After all, I was told in the patient education seminar that it does take 6-8 weeks to get clearance from insurance. -
August 2017 Sleevers
erint93 replied to themaestroswife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was supposed to have surgery July 5th but it got pushed back for a genetic blood disorder that needs to be treated for 6 weeks before I can have surgery. I'm extremely discouraged and disappointed but have a new date of August 21st. Found out this afternoon that my surgeon is leaving and moving thousands of miles away...... meeting my new surgeon on Wednesday but I am really stressed about this entire ordeal. Looking forward to get everything settled and over with soon. On the bright side my VSG is completely covered by insurance and I received my approval the other day. -

So I know this is TMI, but I haven't gone to the bathroom at all this week!! Any suggestions? -
My 2 week stall just broke. Also at 209 on my stall. Am skeptical still about what the scale will say tomorrow. It is annoying no doubt even with knowing this is just how it goes. I use miralax. It has been awesome

4 days Post Up and Hungry
tabbycat02 replied to valerie805's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 days post-op too, and I'm super hungry! I want everything I can't have, of course, but my protein shakes/pudding etc. make me nauseated. A lot of times hunger gets confused with reflux-they can feel about the same. I've started paying closer attention to my reflux, making sure to take my prescribed meds and add over-the-counter ones as needed in order to stop myself from advancing my diet prematurely just because I'm refluxing more. Of course the day I came home from the hospital my Mom came over with McDonalds for her lunch. I swear those fries smelled so good...! Food comercials look really good to me too right now. I wonder, is this the "head hunger" everyone talks about? I don't think I really have a good sense of what exactly I'm feeling since I'm only 4 days out, most likely still swollen, still sore, and used to taking a different medication for reflux (my surgeon switched me post-op). Maybe I'm just not used to it yet... I had some soup this evening, and I thought I felt "full" after about 3/4 cup, but I was still "hungry." I waited about an hour and went back and had some more. This doesn't bode well since I'm on liquids for another 3 weeks... -

I Wish I Could Say Holy Crap!!!
daisychains7 replied to lovinjacobe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very common. After a trip to the ER and the hours of complete hell, I learned my lesson - ha! If its been a week, have miralax or colace. Drink water and mint tea nonstop. More fruits and veggies. And I recently discovered Questbars. It's a low fat, low cal, all natural protein bar which is VERY high in fiber. I've noticed since I started eating them, I am pretty regular again.
