How Many Days/Weeks Did/Do Your Stalls Last?
FluffyChix posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Stalls--we all got 'em. We all hate 'em. Whaddawe dooooooo about 'em? How long (days/weeks) do your stalls generally last? How do you break on through to the other side beyond the stall? Ok, go!!! -
In my mind, based on my research, I am thinking it will take at least 8 weeks post surgery to get the bal rolling with the band. I watched a few YouTube videos of peope whio post every week and they all seem to have gone the 'Bandster Hell" period for an extended period of time. The all reached that frustration stage too where they doubt the band process. In the end they all lost lots of weight-lots! I am not sure how many fills you have had so far. But another Bandster posted that her doc. said it's like blowing up a balloon-once it has air in it -it only take a small amount (fill) to have a greater impact. .5 cc can be just enough-some people had that much taken out because of problems and it made a huge difference. If it was your first fill I woud say it's not enough...but if it's your 3rd or 4th fill that sounds right. Hang in there-your ride is just beginning and this time next year you'll be skinny!!

doreen70 replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hit the brick wall doing 60mph!! Total loss at my 3 week visit, 23lbs. My doc advised against daily weighing, but said if I could handle seeing the scale move up to feel free. I've lost ad gained the same 1.5 lbs all week. -
Dec. 17 sleevers - Week 3 Stall?
monaie replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/19 and when I went to post op visit didn't loose anything! But I started my cycle two days after surgery. The following week I got a URI. This week I am not a 100% but I got on the scale and I had lost 4 pounds so exciting. Wish I had list 20+ pounds but I haven't yet. This past week was my first time in the gym. Plus the mental aspect is harder than the actual surgery. -
So I have been speed walking three miles a day for the past few weeks. Today I decided to jog. It was not hard and I could do it just fine unlike before. HOWEVER my loose skin and the fat left in my stomach and thighs is bouncing so bad if feels like a weight pulling me down. Is there anything that you can recommend to stop this from happening? Thank you!

Advice for low-energy days?
w8warrior replied to M2G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one week out and right there with ya. I am just exhausted today!! I have not started the Vitamins yet either. I think I start them next week. I made me some Cream of Wheat with skim milk and about a half tbsp of Peanut Butter. I made half of a serving and don't even eat a third of it but, the warmth feels good on my tummy and the varitey helps. I know I have not had enough Protein or Water yet today but, I just have been so exhausted! I slept all afternoon! I am going to go back to work on Wednesday so I have got to get this figured out. I wish I had some Gatorade here. I should probably try that. Good Luck everyone. -

HELP! Is it possible to stall so early
PamelaAM replied to PlannerGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 21 lbs in the first 11 days and then nothing for a couple of weeks after that. Then I started losing again. Your body is going through major trauma right now and needs to adjust. Six weeks is a long time to be on full liquids - I was only on them for 11 days - but each surgeon is different. At only 400 calories your body is in starvation mode and it will be hard to lose. But just keep doing what the doc tells you - the weight WILL come off!!! The sleeve works for sure, I can tell you that! -

How do you deal with mucus from a cold?
briefs199 replied to Deedee13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get this stubborn mucus as well mucinex does not help me. It's like the mucus just won't leave. I have done some alternative medicine during these times like acupuncture or foot massage. It helps every time. Those darn post nasal drips can go on for weeks for me and I hack and hack. Good luck. You also may try a Neti pot or hot water with peppermint oil and out a towel over your head. -
Weight gain after 1 week post op
Anaira replied to haliib's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved 5/15/2017, I'm going through a stall after losing weight very quickly (from 283 to 245) and I think I'm going to put the scale away for a while because it's frustrating...but we all have to keep focused and keep on keeping on! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Nikki and Shery Must be something about that 60 lb mark. I hit it about 4 weeks ago and came to a screeching halt as far as weight loss goes. I'm just a little out of control, but am finding it difficult to get back to eating like I should. I haven't had any fills as yet, but am thinking that one may be in my near term future.

How Does Being Stuck Feel?
judych replied to hopingtobebandedsoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it sounds like you have had a stuck episode. its not a nice experience. did you bring anything up? Im having problems after my second fill... which was only 1cc. i had 3 ccs already in a 10 cc band. when iwent back just over two weeks ago for my 1cc fill i was still losing weight but slow. (the way i want it anyway). the dr was pleased, but decided to put that extra 1 cc in. Well.. that was over two weeks ago, and im still having a lot of problems. For two nights runny Ive slimed and vomited... and ive had real issues trying to eat. it takes me over an hour to get a small amount in. so.. this morning i rang my dr and tomorrow morning i go in for an unfill... hopefully only 0.50 cc. The first fill i had it took me about ten days to get settled again, thats why ive waited so long this time. If you are sore in the chest or sore when you eat.... can you give it a rest by just having some liquids for a day? i know that sometimes that does help a lot. -
How do you work through a plateau?
brooklyn64 replied to rkwilliams1013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in May and lost 24 lbs within the first few weeks. Since then I have had 3 fills and my band is at 5cc's. I go down a few pounds then back up a few, even with exercising 4-5 days a week. I am at a total of 32 lbs at 4 months post op and frustrated too that I am not losing more quickly. I find that if I eat a bit more, I actually lose. So....I think sometimes your body goes into starvation mode when you eat too little. I have a hard time with eating Protein, seems to get stuck. -
All in all I shouldn't complain, I'm 37 pounds down in a bit under 2 months.... but it's hard to feel like it shouldn't be more. I want to be that person who goes "balls to the wall" and works out 5 days a week but working 50 hours a week is exhausting me and that makes it so easy to say "naw, not today". I don't know how to get my butt in gear and just DO IT. It's a pain trying to explain these feelings to my husband. It isn't the lack of WANT, it's the lack of ability and energy to get it done. At the end of it I just feel there is so much more I should do and am failing myself by not accomplishing it.

I waas not told anything. I got on the treadmill for walking two weeks post op.

Since I started my 2 week liquid diet that has now turned into a 3 week liquid diet I have definitely noticed how beautiful food is in the pizza and hamburger commercials...I don't remember paying that much attention to them before! I have now started telling myself that pizza, burgers, fries, etc. are some of the reasons that I am now 3 1/2 days away from my surgery!

I’m in the middle of my insurance requirements for surgery and things are going well. However, I am extremely worried about being able to stay hydrated in my work environment when I go back after a couple weeks. I work in a lab, so everywhere is considered “dirty” and any kind of food/snacks/water etc is strictly forbidden. How often do you need to take a sip of water to stay adequately hydrated? I can go to the break room, but I’m just worried about getting in trouble for leaving so often. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!

My paper finally being submitted
NolansNana replied to sylvia45's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations and welcome! I know your excited. I haven't lost as much as I'd like to but its only been 4 weeks. I can tell you that I feel so much better already. Keeps us updated and ask all the questions you need to. A lot of support here. Best wishes to you! -
27lbs is great, considering 6 weeks out of the 8 you were in healing mode and not alot of people lose during those 6 weeks. You weren't eating enough for your metabolism, so that pretty much shut down. I was told first 6 weeks don't expect weight loss. I think 27lbs is good. I also think that you should have had at least 1 fill.......bring it up with your dr.

Day 3 after surgery.
Jachut replied to Russian_BANDit_inNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, entirely normal when you're afraid of what might happen if you eat! I've only dim memories of the post surgical phase, it was over five years ago now, but I've recently had a bowel obstruction and that was pretty darn painful. I was 3 days of nil by mouth in the hosptial, then onto post procedural fluids. It took me 2 weeks to get up the courage to move off mushies, and only at the urging of my surgeon and oncologist who were threatening sustagen (urgh) because I'd dropped to 58 kgs which is well and truly in the underweight territory for me. I was really scared of a recurrence and felt quite sure I could live on mushies indefinitely, lol. But naturally everything was absolutely fine. Post lapband - you might find your weight does strange things as you move through phases. I mean you've done pre op - and probably had significant weight loss - then pre surgical fasting, then a while with no food and then liquids, move onto mushies or solids and your weightloss will most probably stop, that's if you dont actually gain a couple of pounds. Be logical - you CANT gain 3 lb of fat overnight, its physiologically impossible, you know its got to be Water weight. Dont let it get you down, try not to weigh yourself daily, stick with the progam and you will succeed at this, but know that weight doesnt drop steadily, logically or predictably week by week and prepare for that fact -
Just about to start on my solid phase, 7 weeks post op- can anyone share what signals full means? I'm too scared to eat....help!

Ok, I am almost three weeks post of and I must say that this is a little harder than I expected. It is easier to eat junk, (Not that I have been..although I have more than I should, but not as much as previously), why IS it easier to eat junk? I was trying to stay as low carb as possible to maximize my weightloss, but have found that as long as I have as much or more protein than carbs, it is easier. I called my dr's office today, they found me a cancellation, a week earlier than before...I so need a fill. I am excited to get this ball rolling, and get my sweet spot.
