Small NSV -- But I'll take it!

That's a big NSV to me! Congrats.
  2. Let's come together and share our successes, thoughts and dreams! Banding is a journey and we each have a story to tell that can inspire others. Bandsters, pause and reflect where you have come from. Newbies, look ahead and have hope! How long have you been banded? What have you learned from this experience? Could you share your most rewarding NSV (non-scale victory)? What is your biggest challenge? What tips or advice would you pass on to newbies? What is your greatest fear? What goals do you have for the future? How has your life changed? Has living with the band met up to your expectations? If you could talk to yourself prior to being banded, what would you say? Thank you, my friends for all of your posts and for your successes. I feel a kinship with you. Each one of you is an inspiration to me! Good luck!

    April Banders

Hi! Yay for a poster in the April banders section! I'm doing really well. I had some really big issues with dry heaving at the start until we figured out my Vitamins and B12 were causing it. I've been taken totally off those as of 3.5 weeks and its stopped the problems. That did, however cause a 4 pound weight GAIN because I could suddenly actually eat again. (I was literally starving myself because of the dry heaving) That being said...I've relost those 4 pounds and am down a total of 21 pounds so far with a goal to hit 25 by this next sunday...4 pounds this week? lol. I can try, right? I was banded 4/24/13. Two days ago I decided to try on a pair of capris that have always been too tight and hurt my belly if I wore them for any amount of time. They fit! No pain! No rubbing! No gut sucking to zip them up. That was a great NSV. Those capris have caused me so much grief over the years, though...I can't wait to get rid of them because they are too big! No fill yet...Scheduled for June 7th.

    NSV

So after the visit with my endocrinologist, he is very happy with my progress and my blood sugar numbers, blood pressure is still a bit high but coming down. I am in pretty much normal ranges in my diabetes. From the 7 meds I was taking, I am now on 4 and 2 of them are lower dosages. My Doc said I should be able to remove more in 2 months when I see him next. Super stoked!

    Still processing it....

pfft, I am over year out and it still hasn't sunk in. I wonder who in the hell is in the mirror with me some days. Old girl freind complimented me last night how much smaller my face looks since last month, heck if I noticed it. Just be aware of all the NSV's and enjoy life. Let the stalls take care of themselves.

    NSv sadness

Congrats on the NSV! I hope you are tracking all of them in one place, but we know that's my song and dance It is such a difficult place to be in, wanting to help another find a way out of the misery we know they are suffereing, contrasting with not wanting to add to their misery. Part of me wants to tell everyone about the band, and yet the rational part of me knows that this isn't such a good idea. Thanks for the compassion!

    My First NSV

excellent work! May this be just the very first in a long line of NSVs! Start tracking them now, and before you know it, you will have a page full of them!
  18. Happy New Year All! Great job to those who made their goal! I can't believe I did not make goal  I still keep losing and gaining the same 1-2 lbs. So I was at 202 yesterday. I am still proud of a NSV I have had recently, like on Christmas I actually took time to pick out what I was going to wear instead of dreading getting ready and actually thinking of ways I could get out of going to visit family. Question: I have been having a difficult time sleeping for about a week now, I have pressure in my throat, its not burning like heartburn I experieced before being banded...but pressure/difficulty swallowing and I am afraid my band slipped...but I haven't throw up... I am overdue for my first fill but I wanted to wait till after the holidays not so much because I wanted to be able to eat more...but about having so extra money for presents. Does any one have suggestions or have you experienced this?
  19. Congrats! Not only a scale victory, but with your new clothes you have a NSV, too!
  20. Hurrah, great NSV,isn't it! I, also, giv ethem to Goodwill, or Salvation Army. My church has a 2nd hand clothing store, too. So, I hardly ever have any that don't fit in my closet. I don't want to ever have them fit again!!!!Karen
  21. I so hope that this happens immediately. I'm having surgery in San Diego in June and I'm from Alaska and I'm a hot, sweaty mess in temperatures above 65. What a great NSV, thanks for sharing.

    My 3-Month Stall

I'm so sorry your going through this. The site can make everything seem like rainbows and butterflies at times. I am 2 weeks post today and already been stalled for more than a week. I am a little sad and trying not to be discouraged. My moms friend was in a stall similar to yours. She gave up on being anal about everything and just went about her life and a month later she had a nsv when she went to buy an outfit for some event. Turns out she was losing it all in inches during that time. She was scared to weigh herself but a week later when she got in the scale she was 8lbs down. Her stall was like 6 weeks after surgery. I guess it happened when she stopped stressing it. Take down your measurements and am so sure your going through the same thing. and 42lbs is great CONGRATS. During that time she was only down 22lbs down. I hope it gets better. Your doc might have some good tips for you. Good Luck and please don't avoid us! This is why we are all here for the good, the bad, answers, questions, concerns, etc. GOOD LUCK AGAIN please keep me posted.
  23. I hope this happens to me!! I have the EXACT same problem, from the scalp, and people look at me like I'm about to have a heart attack and ask me if I'm ok. It's the most embarrassing thing ever and I hate it. Just the thought of this surgery helping the sweating issue gives me such hope! I'll let you know if this NSV shows up in my life! Thanks for sharing!!
  24. Well.. As sometimes happens, I had this post all typed out and then I lost it. Ain’t that the pits? :-/ I could call these progress shots, or I could call these goal shots as I am 9 lbs away and I am so happy that I feel like I am already a success story, Even though occasionally I still see “Fat Heather” in the mirror, I see her less and less with every passing day. I am only a week and a half away from my surgiversary and I think these are the first “progress pics” I have posted. Let’s start with the stats. I started this journey: Weighing: 302.4 lbs Wearing: Size 24W pants, 2X shirts Waist: 50" I am currently: Weighing: 164.4 lbs Wearing: Size 10 pants, M shirts (I think with a tuck I could wear an 8) Waist: 25" I have lost 5 ft. total from my bust, waist, and hips alone. I still have a nice, ample 34DD bust and my waist is 25 inches. I am so proud of this, let me tell you. I also started married and am now divorced. Funny how that happens. Anyway, enough jabbering before the pictures, but after I will share some NSVs I posted in another thread so maybe stick around to read those? I guess I should start with those dreaded befores.. The first few in the dark bar are from either late July or early August of 2011 and the last is from September 2nd, 2011 with my sleeve sister on sleeve day. Before: Now for the afters (these are WAAAAY more fun!): August 20th, 2012 (164.4 lbs) August 4th, 2012 (Idk.. Maybe 170?) Father's Day 2012 (183 lbs!) About 25 lbs ago, I was carried around piggy back for the first time since childhood... All around my house. It was the most amazing feeling ever! 21 lbs ago, I got the courage to post the bathing suit picture 2 up on FACEBOOK!! I can shop for panties and bras at VS.. I think I look my age more now (26), I think. I wear my 4 and 5" heels with EASE!! I can sit on my BF's lap and not ever worry about hurting him. I have freaking defined collarbones! Not the scary kind, but defined and I love them. I fit into EVERY chair, usually with room to set my purse next to me.. This is sometimes not the case. I think by the time I hit goal and have my plastics, my measurements will be very, VERY close to 36-25-36. Men ask for my number in bars and clubs. I get carded more often. Doors are opened more often. I am 110% more confident at work. Well, (in the words of Forrest, Forrest Gump) That's all I have to say about that! Thank you for reading and viewing and (possibly) commenting. xxoo Heather (GemInTheRough, soon to be JustAGem)
