    girl gone mad

Hi - I agree 100% - STOP weighing yourself every single day - you will go crazy doing that -- the body naturally retains fluids and fluctuates A LOT during a week's time -- some people do NOT even weigh themselves more than once a month at their doctor's office--- my 'first' few weeks when I joined LBT I weighed daily to get into a routine of good eating and exercising - but now it is just once a week -- I'll also bet your clothes are getting bigger despite the fact that the scale doesn't change....that has happened to me and I've learned to look for NSVs (non-scale victories)instead of the scale number -- best of luck to you on your weight loss quest! Challenge To Every Body!

This is just the motivation I needed to get beck on track. So I had an NSV today. For the first time I have run 4.05 miles. Usually I run about 3-3.5 but today it was 4. I am feeling pretty good about that. I hope I can see that in the scales. Oh today I weighed in at 208.

    Kathy's Slow Loser NSV List

My NSV is that I'm back at the gym for the first time in a year. I did an aerobics class yesterday and plan on going back again today. It feels good to move my butt, but I am a little sore. The scale seems to like the movement so we'll see how I do weighing in on the 17th when I get my first fill.

    Last min. what to wear?!?!

    No secret...I joined Curves in Jan 2004 and got my starting inches from then. I wasn't banded until April 2005, over a year ago. I got my latest measurements in April 2006, for a total of 31.5 inches lost since my high weight at 242? or so. Measurements are taken from arms, bust, waist, abs, hips, thighs. So I'm a slooow loser. Just 60 pounds in 2 1/2 years. 40 of that I've lost since banding 15 months ago. Did you say there's so little of me? Would you just say that again, please?! LOL Here's a pic of me at surgery weight...220 pounds or so. Pic was taken in October 2004. THAT's where it went. It's a terrible pic of me, but my kids are cute, blue snow cone stains and all. Hey, Wheetsin, yer a Mod now, can you edit my post a make that pic a tad smaller? It's kinda big... {{{got this big pic off of Nana's thread...see my Slow Loser NSV thread for lots of before pics before I lost all those inches...}}}

WTG Karen - keep that newbie style and you will get there fast. As I sit here and eat some peach cobbler. It's yummy and it's homemade so I know it's not horrible but it's not great either (that is when it comes to calories.) Hey I had a NSV yesterday....We went to get my wedding rings sized because I had been wearing them w/ gaurds since Nov. Well they were a size 8 I was shocked when I could wear a 5 1/2...yes that is right. But I went w/ a 6 because of swelling some days and just plain women things. :clap2: My hubby leaned over and kissed me and said he was very proud of me. Dianne - I know what's it like to stall. I think you need a fill hun really think about it. I know it's the same song and dance but you know journaling is the only thing that really keeps me on track. Even working for the doc I still can snack on things I shouldn't even when lunches are brought in they always bring a cookie or sweet and you know I don't say no. Now Steffney and I will split it but we should say no. Hang in there and hopefully it will start moving again soon. Angie let me know if you want to try and meet up...mom wants us to meet for lunch but I can always tell her no. hehe!!! How are you? Sounds like you had a great 4th weekend. Ok so I kept Abby today and oh my goodness...it's hard work keeping 2 kids. I guess it would be different if they were both yours. I know I am not ready for another at this point in my life. Curtis turns 4 next year so MAYBE I will think about it... What is everyone doing this weekend? Anything fun? I think we are taking Curtis to Carowinds for a few hours saturday morning. Hope everyone is well...I know I have said it before but I love this group!!!
  8. Sorry if there is an acronym list somewhere, I looked but couldn't find it. Could someone tell me what NSV and PB stand for? Thanks!

    Ali's NSV list...

Congratulations! You are doing great, and thanks for posting your NSV's. We can all use the positive news!
  10. I finally have some NSV's I thought I'd share with you guys:- 1. After a year I can finally wear my wedding and engagement rings again. My fingers swelled up last summer and so I took them off. I thought all would be well again after the summer, but it wasn't just swelling...it was fat and I couldn't get them on again! Now they twist around and it's just nice to see them there again. 2. I actually stood to do my laundry today. I have a top loader washing machine and when I want to put clothes on the airer I always had to sit down because my back ached so much. Twice today I did laundry and only when I finished the second lot did I realise there wasn't a chair in sight. 3. My sugar levels are in normal levels for the whole day. For someone who couldn't get her levels down no matter what she did this thing in itself is worth having the band for. 4. I threw away the extension belt hubby bought me for the car when I realised I could open the glove compartment without undoing my belt. 5. There is no-more belt to fasten on my tie-belt pants and they are still loose. 6. I can leave food on my plate without obsessing about it for hours later. Things are changing regularly now and I am really beginning to feel good about myself and about what I am doing to help myself and that hasn't happened for the longest time. There are some things I'm looking forward to, like actually needing clothes in a smaller size because even with elastication they are falling off but I now believe it can happen and that too is a definite victory. :biggrin1:

Hi Everyone! I have a some NSV's I'm going to toot my horn over: 1) for the first time in over two years, my husband made it through an entire night sleeping together without him kicking me out of bed for snoring like a freight train, 2) after 6 weeks of "dieting", I'm down a total of 16 inches, and 3) with the heat and swelling, I can't wear them all day, but I got my wedding rings on for the first time in two years also! :clap2: I'm still running around with newbie euphoria, but hey, I'll ride this natural high as long as it lasts!
  13. I'm so proud for you Terri. Can't wait until I get there. Congrats and be proud of yourself. I wished I could bend down to paint my own toe nails. That will be a nsv for me. LOL Sherri

    June 2006 Band Crew

Hello Everyone -- I hope that you all had a great 4th of July! I know I did. I guess you can say that I had my first NSV. I was able to enjoy most of the "traditional" cuisine (BBQ) on this festive day of independence, in much smaller portions of course. I got on the scale this morning and didn't gain an ounce!! I don't think I can recall a holiday that I didn't gain weight. This was awesome for me :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: . I have noticed that my appetite is just now starting to pick up a bit. I'm not sure if it's because I'm excercising more or the swelling is down. I think probably both. I get my first fill next week. I think the timing is perfect! How is everyone else doing? Melissa Lea

NSV: I climbed a water fall

I can't belive I climbed Dunn's River Falls with my family and friends last week in Jamaica. I loved it, parts were challenging especially for the kids and I was not winded at all. I felt great to be able to help the little guys with ease. If fact I kayaked, snorkeled, rode a Water bike, jumped on and off a water trampoline, swam and sailed. A year ago, I most definitely would have passed on most of the experiences because I probably would have had a terrible time and been unable to breathe. I looked a little better in that bathing suite too. HEHEHE

    NSV for my DH

I just had to share this! I can how put my arms around my husband and touch my fingers! When my husband started his journey, he weighed 600 pound and could not wal through a doorway. He hasn't gone to get weighed recently, but he has now lost enough weight that I can actually put my arms around him! He's been 400 pounds and greater our entire relationship, and he's now the smallest he's ever been. I'm so excited!

    NSV at Kohl's

Today I went back to Kohl's to get me some more of those size 14 Capris pants for my mission trip to Costa Rica coming up this Friday. If you know Kohl's, you know how you have to look in several places for what you are looking for. Well I had been all over the clothing department and couldn't find any 14s. I finally in frustration grabbed up a pair of 12s and headed for the fitting room. Well they fit...WoooHooo! So I found me 5 pair in different colors. I also bought some cute $5.00 Tshirts to take in as size Large...Not XLarge, but Large! (FYI In March I was wearing size 20 pants and 2XL T-shirts)

I'm not. Esp because this is a person who doesn't have an unkind bone in her body. Usually when someone says something like that I wonder if they are being spiteful. But I know that she genuinely cares. She would say she saw it if she could. I know I have lost the weight, and that sometimes it just takes a while to show. And I know that with my big NSV last week that things are going right for me. It really is an amazing process. Very addictive. I am almost to the point of doing things right just to see what changes it brings across. It has become a challenge for me. And I am so excited to see what the band does for me.

May 2006 Band Crew ~ July Chat

Good Morning everyone! I know I have not posted for a long time! I am doing great! I wanted to share a few things: First off I am down 35 lbs since my May 4th Surgery. A total of 97 lbs since January. I feel great. I am now working with a personal trainer. Me in a gym I never in my life thought would happen. But I enjoy it ! My husband and I spent the weekend camping and boating. We spent most of the last four days on the beautiful Puget Sound ( Washington St.) The best part was my NSV: this year I am able to get in and out of the boat with out any problems. In the past I have looked like a whale getting in and out of the boat with rolling up on to the swim step and then rolling in to the boat or having to have help getting in. It was so nice to climb on to the swim step and feel great. I was also able to climb in while the boat was on the trailer. I"m so excited about it! We had such a great time! the eagles were everywhere and Oh how I wish I would of brought a camera. This was the first big weekend where I was faced with lots of food around me! it was hard. as when when we camp many people have chips, deserts, candy,ect.... just sitting out and about for all to eat! but I made it just fine! When tempted I would just walk to the the beach or go for a swim. I made sure that I swam daily for a hour! it was exercise for the past 4 days. I just wanted to share! next year I will be water skiing!
