Am I eating not eating enough?!
Kindle replied to MarceMonster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Like natalie080, I tried to NOT limit my calories. I didn't want my body and metabolism to get used to a low intake. However, I did not count or measure anything, either. I never let calories dictate what or how much I ate. I just concentrated on eating healthy....a balance of Protein, veggies, fruit and eventually grains. But I do know in the early days, some of my protein smoothie concoctions had 300-400 calories each (and I was drinking 1-2/ day in addition to eating other stuff). I'd say I never got less than 500 calories, and was up to 800 calories within the first month and 1000 calories by 3-4 months. And as for your rate of weight loss, don't worry so much about the numbers. They don't mean shit at this point. I weighed exactly the same on day 11 as I did on surgery day. I didn't weigh again until 7 weeks. The scale didn't help me lose 100 pounds. I did that! so stay off the scale for a month and discover the thrill of NSV's! -
what does nsv stand for? lol

Ahhh...the only creative 'craft' I have no patience for...sewing. I think my mending pile (mountain) still has baby clothes in it (youngest is 13)...*she hangs her head in shame* My family teases me that it's 'the black hole'. They know better now then to throw something in that pile (huge basket that's now overflowing about waist high). All I sew are instant gratification decorating things like curtains and pillows...straight stitching. I'm in awe of those who can sew a button hole or zipper without tearing their hair out! Nice NSV! Mom will be in 'shock and awe'! Have fun! -BG

I got another NSV tonight. I put on an old favorite sleeveless pajama set for lounging around the house and the pants just slid around my hips and almost off my butt to the floor. I juggled my cell phone and managed to grab the pants before they hit the floor around my ankles. Another thing on my own growing pile of "tailor this down" mending. However, I have one sewing project that tops everything. My assistant, Selena, is down sick with the flu. She telecommutes from NJ, and I of course telecommute from here in FL. Selena and I chatted by email about a promotion, but she was so sick she had to go lay down. I told her to go cuddle the teddy bear I'd made and sent her last year. Selena answered, "I can't. I have a friend with an autistic son who went in the hospital for surgery. I gave him my bear to make him feel better." You know I'm making her a new teddy bear ASAP. Such selflessness deserves the best bear I can make. It'll be soft baby blue flannel with faux pearls in a necklace and "earrings." I've named it "A Pearl Beyond Price." She's earned it. I'm getting all sniffly just thinking about it.

NICE!!! I love each of your NSV's and you give me hope that I, too, can have your success! Way to go for doing so well -
Ruby - You did do good considering the circumstances - be proud and yes, your first NSV I would say. Thank you and your family for all that you are doing for America.

I'm at 7 months post op and am feeling very complacent (contented to a fault; self- satisfied , and unconcerned) I have been at a stall for a month now. No real loss or gain. I have lost a difficult 55 lbs, and am currently at 189 lbs. But I have gone down from a 22 to a 14, lost lots of inches and have had too many NSV's to count. I am feeling so good physically, and feel like I look "normal". I get lots of positive feedback about my weight loss. I'm happy with the sleeve. My problem is that now that I'm feeling so good and looking better, I just cant stay motivated to keep up with the diet and exercise. I want to reach goal, but life's not so bad right here either... Is this a phase I'm going thru? Another growth experience? Anybody else feel this way?

Kathy, Thanks for the link. I have printed it out. Of course I am guilty of not eating exactly the right things and junk food too. I do eat vey slow and take only small bite. I never drink with my meals so I do a lot of things right too. I think I will keep my appointment and try and eat healthier and exercise more. Thanks for your feedback. I have been away from the board a while becasue my life is so hectic! I have lost a total of 2 pant sizes though. I am in a 12 now. So that is a NSV!

That's an awesome NSV and an awesome picture... not to mention that those shoes are an NSV in and of themselves!!!

That's great. I've been in that situation in the past. It's one of those "I can't believe I can't fit and I'm eating stuff that will make me even fatter" moments. Great job one of the best NSVs that I've seen.

Hey everybody, You know that old saying about "assume" - when you do it, you make an ASS out of U and ME? Well that is what we are doing when we use all these acronyms. Let's be considerate of the new people (and a lot of the old folks!) who do not know what a pb is, or what an NSV is... know what I mean? It excludes the reader if he/she doesn't know that particular acronym. It might be fun to create a lap-band glossary where we can post all this cool info. Anybody interested in helping me with this? And can anybody tell me what the #!*^$! an NSV is?

Today, for the first time since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure two years ago, the nurse at my doctor's office was able to use a regular cuff when checking my bp. It was so wonderful. I used to always get so embarrassed when they had to switch out the cuff for a large one. Never again!
