    Gaining weight

Sounds like you might have hit the dreaded 3rd week stall. Just keep getting in your proteins and your fluids. It will pass. I agree that its best not to get on the scale every day.

    ???

I cannot believe i am almost 5 weeks post-op. I feel good! Better than i have in a long time. I do get this wired feeling of a lump in my throat from time to time. Its sometimes drives me crazy. It does not hurt its just annoying! If it wasn't for that everything would be perfect. I have asked about it before. I had one person say its restriction but it often happens with out having eaten. :smile2: I just sent my doctors office an email asking what it may be. My weight loss has really slowed down. I am ok with losing it slowly as long as i am losing and not gaining. :wink2:

    Regretful

Maybe you need a few more fills? I have 6.2ccs in my 10cc band, and I'm just starting to see what the green zone is about. Try searching Bandster Hell. It will explain what you are going through. And remember, you didn't put this weight on overnight, so it isn't going to come off overnight either. Most doctors are happy with 1 to 2 pounds lost a week.
  6. Cleared at 6 weeks but still didn’t really feel like doing that much. 1 1/2 after surgery I discover Pilates & absolutely love it!

    How Long After To Drive?

I started driving about a week and a half post op. after surgery because of the lack of protein and food I felt a little weak and was afraid of driving, I did not feel safe to drive until then. Good luck!
  8. I have a week to go before I join the band family . I'm drinkin well I've been drinkin Body By Vi for awhile now so I kept on it for my liquid diet as well. The way I make it is in the blender an add ice so it ends up bein a pretty big serving. I know I can't have it the same way after surgery. So what I'm woundering is who else uses this and what has been some ways you have used it after being banded. Thanks
  9. I am two weeks post-op and I am really craving regular food. I don't think I can eat any more Jell-o, soup or scrambled eggs! What do I need to do? I don't crave sweets or soft drinks, I crave meat and cheese and once in a while bread. I am down 20 lbs and I feel so much better already, but I feel like I need something more sustaining than mushy food. I slipped today and ate about 1/2 half cup of smashed redskins for lunch and 1/2 cup of weight watchers cheese ravioli. (Tolerated well) I gag with the smell and taste of the protein drinks. I tried a protein shot today and I half way tolerated the smell/taste. Any suggestions? I want to be successful with my band, but I need to know how to battle on days like these.
  10. I'm so glad you asked this! (And that PdxMan answered it) I was really sweating this for exactly the same reason. I can't do my surgery for another few weeks just because of vacations and other issues, but I still plan to be strict on my diet and exercise... I've already fallen below 40 BMI but I still have a long way to go!!

    48lbs to go...help!

I agree. Taking it a step further, it is likely an unrealistic goal that you will lose 4 pounds a week to make goal weight in the time frame you have selected. Once you have less to lose, the losses are going to get smaller and it’s going to take longer to lose weight. You have done fantastic so far and if you keep following your plan, you will probably lose the 15-20 pounds like Wanda mentioned. If you lose more great! Either way you will look better in April than you could have dreamed two years ago, and that is worth celebrating!
  13. I had my surgery 2/7/17 starting out at 335. I now weigh 198. I'm very happy with how far I've come but I didn't reach my goal weight by the first of the year like I had planned. I have a special occasion coming up in April and I really want to lose the last 48 pounds by then. I don't know what else I can do to lose it. That gives me about 11 weeks and I don't know what to do to lost that much weight in that amount of time. Please don't think I'm not thankful or grateful for where I am. I'm so much healthier. But I just want to be at my goal weight. I eat a low amount of calories and I'm moving much more. Maybe I need to up my physical activity but I feel as though that will make me more hungry. Any suggestions?
  14. Hi all I had a gastric bypass on the 1st of May and I am in the second week of the pureed food diet, I just thought I would ask a couple of questions to see if all is normal. I cannot really get use to pureeing everything so i have been having broths, cottage cheese, some pureed soups and jelly (Australian version of Jello) When eating at times i can really feel the food slowly going down and most times i get a slight stomach ache after eating for up to 30 minutes, I was getting a little worried as I am about to go onto the soft food diet from Friday and was thinking if pureed foods do this what will courser foods do. How long after surgery did you guys experience this sort of thing and how long does it last before i start to get worried?
  15. I've been on it for almost 3 weeks and the only thing I've noticed (may be unrelated) is that my hair seems so brittle and dry. Other than that I haven't had any problems; but I haven't had any blood work to check liver functions either. I too questioned whether I really needed to take it but the responses on here talked me into following my doctors orders. I only have to take it for 5 months total.

    Did Too Much?

The nurse said the same thing 2 weeks; I'm like are you sure? She said the most was 4 weeks;????????? I'm puzzled; my friend had bypass last year; at her 2 week mark she had to have gallbladder surgery; total 6 weeks out of work. I'm kind of worried because we are 10 days full liquids prior to surgery and 16 days after full liquids. ( 5 of those clear only) therefor the gallbladder has nothing to work for and can cause stones. They found 2 small stones at the bottom of my gallbladder ; hoping he takes it at the same time. I will know I guess the morning of : 7 more days. Whoooo hoop!
  17. Good job getting in all your liquids I'm 5 weeks out and yet to get in a full 64 oz in one day!! I've stopped weighing myself everyday, I know as long as I'm doing the right things the weight has to come off. And I have always been addicted to the scale. Today was my day to weigh and I got my period yesterday so I'm doing myself a favor and not getting on until its over! Because without even getting on I know I gained some water weight, retaining fluid. I've had a day here and there when I had that queasy yucky feeling trying to drink my morning protein, I think I know what you mean. But I did my best with the rest of the day and on average I hit 70-80g of protein so I don't sweat the occassional morning that my tummy doesn't want to cooperate.
  18. To start feeling normal again ie not tired not in pain and to start eating normal food it took me 7 weeks. t 7 weeks I started to have loads of energy too . Best of luck x

    24 hrs post opp

I had the same problem.. I threw up (dry heaved) for the first 24 hours straight. I wanted to throw up so bad but there was just nothing to throw up. So they didn't even let me have ice chips until 24 hours after the surgery and man did I savor those chips once I had them! My Dr. put me on an antacid on day two (after the surgery) and I am to stay on it for a month. I still get acid reflux in between my doses and it is miserable but it is getting better (I am 2 weeks post op) After you can start keeping things down start taking an antacid and it will help
  20. I am 3 weeks post-op. I eat Greek yogurt or cottage cheese with applesauce. I plan to try egg salad next. These are all easy. You can buy the eggs already hard-boiled to make your own, or find a good deli. Are you a Pinner? I have found many good recipes on Pinterest. Good Luck!!
  21. I spent the day trying everything I could think of to get rid of this gas. I accomplished the mission! YAY!!! It took, miralax, prune juice, and a freakin fleet's enema, but hey- tasked accomplished. I'm so happy now. I also took pictures of how I looked the day before surgery and I took a comparison pic just now (exactly a week after) and the difference is astounding! Like, my stomach area alone looks alot smaller. I started out at 312 pounds (pre-op diet) and today when I weighed myself, I was at 279lbs. I'm amazed. I intend on stepping away from the scale for a while because I know that soon enough there will be the "dreadful stall" and I'm ok with that. I think I'm going to go back to work on Tuesday, so tomorrow I'm going to spend the day resting. I hope that you all have a great week ahead of you and some interesting stories along the way. Take Care, Candace

    Weight Loss Stall?

Yes! It happens to everyone. I'm 9 months out and had stalls quite a few times. I just reached my goal weight. Yay! It will pass .

    Weight Loss Stall?

Stalls sucks. I am 10 weeks out of my surgery and I am just coming out of a 20 day stall. It was terrible, mentally. 20 days is a long time and you really begin to question things at that stage. Like everyone says out here, you just have to be patient.
  24. I know i am a cheap date now though. a couple of weeks after my band i had to taste a cocktail someone at work made to see if it was correct, omg! a sip and i felt it! i think one glass, sipped slowly should be ok. but remember to take into account for the calories

    How long before "regular" food?

My post op diet was: week 1 clear liquids (which meant no protein shakes) week 2 liquids (including blended cream soups, etc) week 3 mushies week 4 mushies and soft foods week 5 regular food... and I stuck to it. i learned my lesson the hard way during my preop diet.
