Christa --congrats on your NSV. It's the smallest little things that bring the greatest amount of joy. I know that larger scale victories are yet to come . Christa --as for being able to eating pre-band portions, I have not been able to do that. Now don't get me wrong, the week of my fill, I probably could have but I used willpower. Went to bed hungry one night. After my fill I am able to eat more than a few bites and eat until I get that "satisified" feeling. Eating slow has been a challenge for me. Since I'm single, I will work cross-word puzzles between bites or read a book. It forces me to slow down. Work a few clues or read a page or two, then take a bite :hungry: . I've never heard of anyone getting a fill at the time of surgery. But that goes to show you, each surgeon is different. Barbara --your right! I think we've been TP'd by the July band crew. i am assuming that nsv means non-scale victory? if not, that is what it will mean for me. that being said, i hope this one isn't tmi (too much information) but here it goes. i usually have to buy queen plus size pantyhose for sunday morning services. about one week after surgery i noticed that i had on just a pair of queen sized pantyhose and they didn't hurt in between my thighs nor did that make that annoying sound that pantyhose make when they run up against your inner thighs as you walk. i was elated over that. pre surgery, my panties used to be so tight that they cut into my upper thighs but i just refused to go buy a larger size than they already are. about a week out of surgery, and definitely now, i don't experience that anymore. no pair of panties are too tight on me. they are so comfortable. and i have alot of extra space in my bra now and my breasts aren't hanging over the sides competing for underarm space!!!

Hi everyone -- I had my first NSV this morning. A small one but huge in my eyes. I was able to put a ring on my finger I haven't been able to wear in about a year. I didn't think twice about it when I grabbed it out of my jewerly box and slid it on my finger. It was about 5 minutes later when I realized what ring I had on. Whoppee!!!:clap2:. My hands have been so swollen this past year, I pretty much quit wearing rings. I hope my NSV is motivational to others. Sometimes you have to forget about the calories your taking in, the number on the scale, and look within yourself for the small victories. Anyone else have their first NSV? I feel good dananana na like I knew that I would dananana na ......I feel nice dananana na.... I enjoyed my weekend.....and I will stop there.....no I won't. 27 miles of walking to date and it is only the 17th. I have got to commit to do the WAP tape more often and not just walk on the weekend. I walked Sat and Sun 6 miles, walked/danced in the house periodically, went to the pool Sunday and did 40 min of movement. I should have went to the pool on Saturday because it was killer hot. 60 miles May 25 miles June 50 miles July is my goal, I will reach and surpass it.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: It is suppose to be hot all this week so I will make sure I go to the pool 1 or 2 times. Hello can we say nsv. I tried on 2 skirts that were a size 1x and 3x and they both fit. LOL I bought them and will be wearing them weekly. LOL This morning I looked at the 1x and said is the really the skirt you tried on in the store and I put it on and I said yepppp. ha ha ha ha

Hi there - I haven't posted in a very long time but I had my first major NSV today I wanted to share with my fellow May bandsters... Pre-surgery, I was in a very tight 24 pants and a 3x/22-24 stop size. This weekend, after my size 22 "skinny" pants began falling off of me, I decided to finally shopping. I went to Lane Bryant with my trusty coupon and wound up trying on - and fitting nicely in - size 20 pants. It felt great! What was even more wonderful, though, was I grabbed an 18/20 top, assuming it would fit nicely and it would up being too big! The sales girl confirmed it and gave me a 14/16... it fit like a charm! I almost jumped for joy and skipped over to the register to pay for my stuff. It was a great day... Good luck to all!
  7. Yes, I did it.....I was with all my relatives at a burger joint last Thursday and I did not want to deal with eating a hamburger without the bun, greasy fries or fried chicken sandwiches....so, I thought, "screw it" I am having a turtle sundae! My sister decided to have one too, so I went inside to order....now mind you, this place has the BEST cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings on the face of the planet (I am hoping when I get to heaven this burger joint is there, if you know what I mean!!)...so, anyway, I am smelling this food and watching people stuffing their mouths and all of a sudden I order only ONE turtle sundae for my sister. So instead of eating a whole turtle sundae (and they are huge....$5.00 huge!!) I just had a couple bites of my sister's sundae and was happy (and proud of myself). Just another wonderful NSV.....

    What are your favorite NSVs?

My favorite NSVs do not belong to me. Coyotegirl (Terri) walking a few steps for the first time in years Being able to put my arms around my husband for the first time in our relationship because he's lost so much weight. My fingers actually touch! (he was 600 pounds when he was first banded 3 years ago.) My favorite NSVs that belongs to me: I didn't die from resperatory failure. My second one might sound weird, but it has to be being finally diagnosed with Cushing's. I would have never been diagnosed with it, and it too would have killed me.
  10. Thinking "I'll just run for a little bit, see how far I get" and running 4kms, I was like a mad thing after that, Doug couldnt calm me down. It really really hit me then how much my health had improved. That's been my biggest wow/NSV. I had one the other day too though, I was cleaning out the cupboard, looking for stuff to sell on ebay and pulled out a pair of pants that I'd bought a year ago in the winter sales. I couldnt even get them past my thighs back then, yesterday I zipped them up. It just hit me that I have gone down sizes and sizes! I'll be wearing then on the beach for our holiday in September. Finishing a fun run in the middle of the pack, 4kms in 31 minutes was pretty darn good too.

    Cool NSV for me.....

Today is jeans day at work. I had a man that I work with tell me that if I keep getting smaller I am going to blow away. He also commented that "If he wasn't married............." and left it at that. I am tickled. And, don't worry about harrassment, we are a really close knit group here. The coolest part is....this is the first time I have worn these jeans. I purposely bought them over 4th of July weekend in a smaller size and OHMYGOSH!!! They fit me today. YIPPEE!!!

    NSV! Someone noticed!

Congrats on the NSV!! I saw a friend today who saw me on surgery day and then again 3 days later. Today is 8 days out and she saw me this morning and said she could tell I'd lost. That was such a great feeling!!! I'm sure you were feeling quite proud as well! WTG!
  18. My immediate staff coworkers have known from very early on that I was banded. But there is a volunteer that comes is once a week. (I work at a church). She said that I looked like I had lost weight. She is the very first one that noticed. When I said 30 lbs, she was astounded! She said since the last time I saw you? (No, she saw me last week.) However, when I admitted that I had WLS, she was aghast! She had only heard of GB and thought I was nowhere near overweight enough to do that. When I explained what it was all about, she was relieved and very interested. That was just ever so cool!

NSV!! I fit in the chair!

Are you sure she was being mean, or might she have been subtily telling you that you could now clearly fit in any chair? If she was being mean WHAT A WITCH and congrats for defeating the witchiness. Either way, Woohoo on your NSV! I keep waiting for my boss to realize that I don't switch out the chairs in his office any more. I used to always pull up a wider chair when I was sitting across from his desk, but now the ones that have the skinny arms are just fine. Feels so good. I'm flying this weekend and hope I have as good of an experience.

Kim ~ WhooHoo on the NSV!! :welldone:I don't think I've lost 2 sizes yet, but then again, I haven't been shopping. Still wearing my baggies. There seems to be a lot of us with the TOM this week. I just started yesterday and it should have been this past Sun. I was getting a bit concerned. So far, I've stayed the same. Reality is I could eat a HUGE chocolate bunny or anything chocolate for that matter. This is the hardest time for me b/c of the sweet & salt cravings I get with the TOM. chicken salad helps with the salty cravings. BTW, great job on the swimming too!! You inspire me. We joined the Y last week and the boys start swim lessons next week. I plan to work out while their swimming with the teacher. In answer to your question about calories, I am getting around 1000 daily. I was using the FitDay.com, but I was getting tired of entering new info everytime I ate a meal. I wished they had a more thorough food list. Plus with 2 little ones, I barely get my shower in let alone post everything I eat. I should make time for that though...it is important. Marci ~ :wow2: Good for you girl....keep it up!! I barely remember size 18. I WILL see it again someday soon. Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your anniversary of 27 yrs. Do I understand you correctly that your anniversary is on the 10th? We were married 7 yrs on July 10th as well. The kids & DH are recovering from strep, so we put off date night and will do it another time. Such is life with kids. Violetflame ~ Welcome to the May Bandsters Group!! You will find this a great place for support as well as the entire site of LBT!!! :welcome2:
