16 lbs is great! I am banded 8= months and had a few slow months, I was keeping track of measurments, and the months I didn't loose, man did the inches come off, one month 3 lbs but 15 inches. that made up for no lbs. it also keeps my motivation going. 2 inches in 2 inches!! down 70 lbs and from 22 to now a tight 14 but it fits! for me the inches are better cause thats what I see in the mirror and the size I fit into. People comments just make you walk taller and the self esteem I never had before is showing too. My dr says the sexuality is gleeming and my hubby must love it! hell, I had to look up sexuality, cause Ive never had it let alone, gleeming???? So congrats and keep going I got a great idea on this site, to list the NSV keep track of all the happy exciting changes your body and mind make, its great for those times when your feeling "not so successful" My last NSV I noticed in the bathroom, soory to mention, I no longer have to flush with my hand in a public restroom, I can lift my leg all the way to flush with my foot, and continue standing with ease! hey NSV are stange too!

Such a cute outfit! 3 dollars and you look fabulous. What a NSV! -
It's official I have now crossed over from the plus/woman's world side of the store back to misses I am wearing a "L" top still "XL" pants but getting there. I know these are "good problems to have" or at least that's what everyone's telling me. So if I'm normal size does this mean I'm "normal" now? Well I still have about 40 lbs to goal but I haven't seen this size in a VERY long time. Not since 2002. Just thought I'd share so you post ops will know what's in store for you. And the answer to the question is "no" I'm not and never will be "normal" but I'm me. And a happier healthier version of me. And I'm more interesting than normal anyday

ROFL, I hear you. I'm supposed to be transcribing meeting notes and have much done, so I'm playing a little. I'm not used to being at work yet - only the second full week since HH's over. I have to say that I knew I had some restriction after the first fill because four times in the month (about once a week) something got stuck and I had to PB. The first time really upset me. The last one something was just stuck and I needed to get it out - and then in a few minutes was able to go back and finish my dinner. That said, there is no doubt that the restriction as a tool is working. Not at the sweet spot yet, but this could be it. Today is the first day I'm on soft food after my fill, and I know that with full liquids and water/ice chips I can drink and eat and not get full very quickly. What I just noticed yesterday with the pureed food, and I thought might be a fluke until today, is that I don't feel hungry after I've eaten about 4-6 ounces, and THAT is a first. I CAN keep eating. So today I made a significant effort to stop. Now I'm counting the hours to see how long it holds me. If it works for more than another hour, we did it. Then the onus is going to be entirely on me - to learn and discipline myself to STOP EATING based on measuring my intake, not on how I feel. IF that works at 4-8 ounces per meal, I'll lose weight. And I'll feel very good about myself. My biggest challenge all these years with not being able to lose the weight was feeling hunger too quickly after I ate - sometimes as soon as 20-30 minutes after eating a hearty meal. Banding has made a significant difference, even though I could, up until my fill on Thursday, eat about two full cups. Yesterday was just about a cup or less. Today I stopped myself at a cup. I CAN do more, I just didn't. I don't feel as full now, two hours later, as I would if I'd eaten more, but that is likely to be part of my retraining as well, right? Ah, the lovely middle age Ashkenazi female body (post kids and post meno). Gotta love it! Thanks for explaining what NSV was. By the way, if your friends are anything like the people in my life, they are going to notice the difference in your size.

I had my first non aided (by me) Orgasm (I am 35) last week So yeah.. I wonder if its a NSV.. ??

My current NSV is sitting in my recliner and pulling my legs and feet up in the seat with me. I've always been short and would pull my feet into my chair so they wouldn't dangle and go numb. (My grandmother would tell me that I wasn't allowed to feed my knees at dinner.) At some point I became too big to do that in my recliner. Sure I could lean back and have my feet on the foot rest but it's just not the same as snuggling up in the seat. But now I have plenty of room in my recliner. :-)

Hi everyone! I'm a May 2006 bandster, and I thought I would join in on the fun. How do I get in on the next challenge? I've enjoyed reading about everyone's NSV...congrats to you all! I used to get UTI's all of the time, and my doc suggested lite cranberry juice...I don't get them anymore-it really works! I SO get the whole hanging tummy problem, after three babies (last one was almost a 10 pounder) and a life long fight with weight it ain't pretty. :/ Thank goodness for plastic surgery!!(I'm hoping insurance might help pay for it...) Here's to a great 2007!!!! Keep it up everyone!

I don't see where I posted anything about NSV... :/

is that considered a NSV? Picture this, I had on a pair of "tights". I decided to be nice to myself last week and purchased a pair of leather mid-calf boots and wore them both for the first time tonight. As I stood up I realized my tights looked a bit baggy, upon investigating I found that my crotch was at my knees. After tonight I have learned not to trust anything that isn't a snug against me. :001_tongue:

I should be in bed, but I just had to share this with all my wonderful Bandster family! I have a NSV!! I rode in a 20 mile bike benefit tonight! I didn't lead the pack, but I didn't bring up the rear either! I was smack dab in the middle, blending in, feeling almost normal. I wasn't the only short fat person on a bike. But I was able to hang in there and finish, without having to stop. There were plenty of "skinny minnies" stopping and resting along the shoulder. Gosh, I don't tell this to brag! I just want to encourage each and every one of you to get out there and try things that you probably never would have dared. If you'd told me 4 months ago that I'd do this, I would have laughed so hard that my asthma would have kicked in bigtime. Now, granted, I took my celebrex and rubbed in the Ben Gay first. I may have to roll out of bed tomorrow a.m., but right now I'm on an adrenaline high. And I like it! I wish this kind of happiness to every one! Reach for the stars and LIVE LIFE!

TMI for the day!

Did you take a picture? Did you call Guinness? Thanks for sharing. I've gone through the same thing, but was too afraid to share such a vivid description of what I went through! I've had to strain so hard that I was afraid I'd have an anurism and die on the toilet - like the constipated gangster in the TV series, The Sopranos. I had to train myself to relax my neck and face while on the toilet! I think you deserve an NSV award, just for surviving!!!! -
@Redmaxx you have worked hard you deserved all your success 100 lbs gone walking easily 2 miles in parade great NSV's keep on keepin' on kathy congrats

Any runners out there?
Jachut replied to conservachick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not crazy, in fact this is probably the best possible way to get ALL of that last 60lb off. I started running at about 30lb down and I could not believe the difference not having that 30lb made to what I could do. I meant to start the couch to 5K and I ran the whole damn way! Well, staggered and shuffled but it wasnt a walk, it was definitely a jog. I was so elated by that NSV, I never looked back. If you start slow, run every second day, do not under any circumstances allow yourself to jump in boots and all so that you burn out or get injured you'll be fine. that was always my problem with exercise, I do love it and I was athletic and I would always start WAY too ambitiously and just not be able to keep going due to sheer exhaustion. Make yourself do it slowly and when you run make yourself run slower than your natural pace (its hard!) - this is how you build up a super aerobic base so that you can work on the fast stuff later. But all you need to run a 10k is a good aerobic base and you can build that pretty darn quickly. Very best of luck! -
Just thought I'd share - I had my 2 week follow up today. Fully dressed, my official loss for these 2 weeks is 20 pounds even (at home, in my undies, it's 22 - but I'm not counting that). Aside from getting my coat zipped (a pretty huge NSV since I'm so cold my bones hurt now), I achieved my first two weight related goals. The first, achieved while in the hospital, was to fall below 300. My second was to hit 280, because it's officially 50 pounds down from my highest weight ever. That might not belong on a ticker, but it's still fun to track since I started Atkins at 330, dropped to 300 a couple of years ago, and stayed in the same spot until surgery. Edited to add: And 3 people have already commented on a difference in my face!!!

Turtle Tribe Holiday NSV Challenge
live2canoe replied to vinesqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well - I posted this on the slow losers thread, but it definitely counts as an NSV. I have been banded for 13 months and this week is the first time any one has noticed my weight loss (I'm a closet bandster). Two people, my hair stylist and my neighbor, both said I 'looked good' and asked what I was doing different. I just shrugged my shoulders and said thank you. -

Capt'n Jack, I saw that one coming... Excellent work with the CPAP. I'm going back on mine for a while. I haven't been feeling very well in the mornings, so back on the snorkle goes. That's a great NSV Kim! It is always nice to have someone finally notice! You've certianly waited long enough! Shine! -
Hello Turtles! This is the official thread to track our NSV Challenge! We had talked about creating a challenge, but I never got around to starting the thread for the challenge. ... Doh! I blame it on midterms... Okay, the Challenge is that each week we recognize at least one new NSV. To get the ball rolling, here are my NSVs for the week: 10/27/05 I am offically no longer Morbidly Obese, but simply Obese. Today my BMI is 39.6, so I might not even qualify for the surgery, if not for my co-morbidities, which are all under control. My second NSV for the day is that I have been invited to dance professionally at a Greek restaurant here in town. It will be fun to be able to put on my resume that I'm a Professional Belly Dancer. Please remember to update your personal NSV lists as well as posting them here!

TY! I've already a NSV or two of my own. Back in jeans from 4 years ago...goal is a size 10/12...whatever weight and time gets me there. But in another 17 pounds, I'll weigh less than I did when I discharged from the Navy in 1996! -

Along with NSV (non-scale-victory) goals, I have mini scale goals. My first goal was to reach 250 lbs, from 280. Then 230, then 210, etc. Just little milestones.
