Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?
Liz_martin replied to armartin98's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will be going to the doctor February 7. I really hope you feel better. What does your doctor say? I was the same the first 2 weeks. I couldn't even keep pain medication or vitamins down. And now i can only drink water with plenty of ice. Have you trief having it with Crystal Light. I'll be your bari buddy... -
I have BCBS and had to have my doctor provides notes from my visits over the past 6 months showing that she talked with me about diet and exercise. It also had to include my weight. All but one of my visits were virtual (I saw her every 3 months for diabetes) and they accepted the notes. Think she also wrote a letter.

Most everybody gets the infamous Week 3 Stall. You're lucky it waited until Week 10. It might last a month or longer, so don't lose hope and just keep doing what you're doing and this too shall pass, I promise.

9-days until surgery..
catwoman7 replied to Lei-Lei's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if yours is all liquid, plus protein shakes, it'll be tough - but it'll get easier by day 3 or 4 when your body goes into ketosis. If you're allowed some food, it won't be as bad (some people have a couple of protein shakes during the day and a small meal for dinner). My clinic's plan was the first - the all liquid one. It's tough - but then again, it does get a bit easier by the 3rd or 4th day. -
I am 9-days from my surgery date. I am set to start the 7-day liquid diet on Tuesday, but I'm starting tomorrow. I do better when I start fresh for the week. I am very anxious about this next week, any advice?

COMPLETELY fallen off the wagon :(
Sunshine0331 replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This TOTALLY happened to me! The good news is that the wagon is still there. You’re WORTH it!!!! Don’t give up. Stop/drop/roll - call your dietician immediately! 🙂. I waited 3 months because I was embarrassed. Had my 1 year surgery follow up. Was so nervous - I put myself in a total panic and broke down crying. The surgeon kindly laughed and was like you LOST 97 Pounds - that’s 77.8% of your EWL. He explained that EWL is the Excess Weight Loss. Ask for your percentage. He said that as a surgeon, they anticipate/ hope that in 18 months you lose 75%. The dietician came in who I’ve been in amazing contact with until I stalled. I was embarrassed. I haven’t lost a pound in 3 months. We talked - came up with a solution and it’s working. They see this ALL the time. It’s not a personal failure. They will help if you ask- I promise. You’ve got this!!!!! You’re amazing and so is your body!!!! Everyone’s journey is different. Have you heard of Unjury? They have an amazing viritual support group and bring in incredible professionals to chat about stuff like this. register for the Wednesday nights (you can do both - but Wednesday night is for post op) - https://unjury.com/newsletters/join-the-best-support-group-now-for-best-results/ You’ll see me there - Christina B. Say ‘hi’- you’ll feel so loved and supported. You’re not alone in this! -
most people get that stall at or around the three-week mark - so it's late for you. Don't do anything besides stick to your program and stay off the scale (only weigh yourself once a week or so until you get through this). It'll break and you'll be on your way again. Since they typically last 1-3 weeks, you're likely near the end of it.

I am 10weeks post op. I have been strict about measuring my food, getting my protein/vitamins and I workout 4 days a week. I have been stuck at 189 for 3 weeks and I'm feeling like I'm failing. I have been thinking about going back down to 2oz of protein per meal but I'm really trying to avoid unhealthy choices. Idk what to do. I have another 40lbs to my goal and I'm terrified I won't make it [emoji17][emoji17]. Sent from my GM1917 using BariatricPal mobile app

Anyone in MINNESOTA?
suzannethemom replied to suzannethemom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have severe GERD also, which is why I chose RNY gastric bypass. I don’t have a surgery date yet. I have 5 appointments scheduled in the next two weeks (dietitian, exercise PT, Psych eval, upper GI). You’re so lucky to get the Mayo Clinic. I’m nervous that as I’m getting all these important steps done, the hospital decides to pause elective surgeries. I just heard that Allina canceled WLS for three months! -
My husband doesn't want me to have surgery
huskymama replied to Wickerbuni's topic in The Gals' Room
Hope all went well! My husband of 20 years, been together almost 21 years, was nit supportive of it at all but once he knew it was happening like it or not he became better. He stayed with me the entire time at the hospital and took a week off to take care of me. He isnt thrilled with the scars from the surgery but other than that he is beyond what i could have hoped for from him in support now. I like what Tek said, the strong relationships get stronger and i believe that ti be true. He is my best friend as well as my spouse and i feel we are stronger than we have ever been. -
Anyone's primary doctor was against the operation?
gabbykittyvsg replied to Starky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The primary doc I had at the time of my vsg was totally against it, at first but wasn't supportive either. I saw her in the hallway at the hospital the day after surgery and she said"you know you didn't really need the surgery". I'm not sure what my current primary thinks about my upcoming surgery but I'll find out when I go in for my pre-op physical in 2 weeks. This surgery (conversion to bypass) is necessary because of damage done by reflux so she can't really say much. I had another endoscopy done yesterday and the report noted the need for surgical intervention to fix the reflux. Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app -
I see post on here almost weekly about people getting pregnant soon after surgery. Saw one a couple weeks ago that they were only like a month out. Try using the search box at the top of the page and type in Pregnant. It will show you a bunch of topics regarding it. Some info for you until some people reply to this post Good luck.

I've Started Doing Workouts with a Personal Trainer
Jaye W replied to GradyCat's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Great to hear! keep up the good work. I have worked with a trainer in the past but prefer to just do the workouts on my own. You will learn the exercises and how to mix it up on your own. I go to Planet Fitness- only $10/month and personal training is free if you want it. I have been consistently weightlifting at least 5 days per week since late Summer/Fall of 2021 after fully recovering from gall bladder removal and I think it has made a great difference in how my clothes fit, how my arms/legs/stomach skin looks and how I feel overall. -
I am on Lexapro, for anxiety and depression.. almost 2 weeks post op. I'm okay so far. [emoji106] Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

My experience… sleeved on 1/22/22
jaymecaye replied to jaymecaye's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OFFICIALLY ONE WEEK PAST SURGERY TODAY!! Things are going ok today. However I’m noticing it’s easier to drink liquid in the morning than later in the day. Water is still the easiest thing to consume. I tried yoghurt today- not good. I got very nauseous and immediately stopped. My larger incision is still painful- but getting better. My energy levels are a lot lower than they have been- I’ve done less walking today. But reminding my self that I’m only a week out and healing still. I’m focusing on getting protein in and hitting my liquids. I’ve added unflavored protein to soups, and mixing my protein drink with milk just to do what I can to boost it. -
Hello all, I am new to this group. I had Gastric sleeve done 11/22/2021. This was strongly recommended by my pulmonologist who says my pulmonary hypertension, CHF, and chronic hypoxic respiratory failure are all due to my weight. I’ve lost 20lbs since surgery date which I feel like is very slow. I am struggling with my obsession of food. Trying to maintain healthy diet for the most part (it’s hard sometimes when we eat out). I’m exercising 3 times a week for 1 1/2 hours at a time (I’m on oxygen and have to go to rehab place where they can measure my oxygen levels). I also struggle with night eating which causes me a lot of stress (would love to hear if anyone else struggles with this). Glad I found this group and excited to connect with others here on this forum. p.s. my surgeon is Vinay Goyal of Lubbock but his name doesn’t appear in list of surgeons.

One Year With Mini Gastric Bypass: My Journey, Thoughts, and Tips!
DaisyAndSunshine replied to a topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Well it is slow and steady, so hanging there 😂 Almost end of month 2 and I think I'll end up losing about 10 to 11 pounds this month. It's slow compared to others but I think it's fine. It could be because I had lost almost 25 pounds before surgery. Post surgery it'll be another 28 to 29ish. So I think I am getting there. Only 1 major stall for about 2 to 3 weeks and it's going down little by little, so I think it's nice 😂 Have a follow up appt on Feb 1st, so will figure out if any dietary changes are needed. That makes sense. I think RYN it's lesser than that. Though I completely forgot to ask my surgeon how much was mine. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ LMFAO 🤣🤣 Weird, bizarre and all sorts of crazy. Well then, may be it's time you ought to say "Hi" to them 🤣 -
What kind of vitamins & what time of day do you take them? Start a journal of when you eat, take vitamins & when you feel any of those things. I’m nauseous about 3-4 days a weeks. I buy meclizine on Amazon ($14.99/3 bottles of 100 pills) & keep them with me I had my RNY almost 4 years ago.

Of course protein powder. I made enough i put some away for tomorrow. I feel like my brain doesnt work right since the surgery the past week im hoping this will help -
When did you start eating fruits? (Carbs content)
Tomo replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
According to my surgeon, I was allowed to eat fruits from the beginning but avoid the skins till month 3 or when easily tolerated. The first couple of months, I ate green apple sauce and smoothies with blended fruit. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Band to Bypass Surgery coming up...SCARED
MaryRN66 replied to MaryRN66's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Thanks to my fellow WLS pals for responding. I have been getting more prepared for surgery (in FIVE DAYS!) and have what I need for the first several weeks at home and ready to go. I am not as afraid of post-surgery pain as I am about having a pretty big surgery at 55 y/o. I know that's not crazy old but it's not 20's or 30's anymore either. I am praying to put it all in God's Hands and Trust in Him. -
Hi All, I am 3 months post VSG and found out I am pregnant, it was unexpected and I’m nervous. My surgeon says it safe and I am meeting with the dietitian to make sure I get enough protein and nutrients to sustain. Has anyone else been through this? TIA.

Summer 2018 Buddies Check In
KCgirl061 replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing good still! I over shot my weight loss goal of 140 pounds all the way to 125 but have regained those 15 pounds in the last 3 years. I dont want to get back down just stay the weight I am. I pretty much let myself eat whatever I want, just try to stick to the rules of no snacking, no drinking while eating and no drinking 30 minutes after eating. -
When did you start eating fruits? (Carbs content)
canadianpopcycle replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thanks so much!! I gave up coffee, and I didn't even really intend to. I start my day now with an earl grey latte, so the 1 cup of milk in that is an auto 110 calories...so that probably helps getting to 1200 lol. Here is a sample day from 2 months after surgery. It was about 1125 calories: 1) Decaf Earl Grey Latte with 1% milk, sugar free syrup = 110 calories 2) Peanut butter Oatmeal: 1/3 cup quick oats, 2/3 cup Fairlife Milk, 15g of Powdered Peanut butter, 1/2 scoop unflvaoured protein powder, 4g brown sugar = 312 Calories 3) Whole Grain Pita, 2 tbsp Hummus, 2.5 oz Chicken = 291 Calories 4) 1/2 cup Rice, Slow Cooker Jambalaya = 308 calories 5) Apple = 95 Calories This day was 80g protein, 150 carbs, 23g fat One thing that bothered me for quite awhile was bread. It would go down fine and such but it sat weird in my stomach and I always felt burpy/gassy after. I didn't have the problem with the pita, likely because it's not nearly as dense/fluffy etc as bread. I have a sensitivity to oils/fats even before surgery. I have had 2 things since surgery that I will never have again, because the bathroom issues after was AWFUL lol. I had a beyond sausage that shot through me...and at Christmas I had a meatball...not all beef....but thought it might be okay. It was not lol. To be fair though, those would have probably ruined me before surgery too. I hope that helps!
