  2. Having gone from 245 to 145 in less than a year I am so happy and thankful! However the scale doesn't reflect everything right my friends....So I love this topic because it gets us thinking about the awesome perks of losing weight beyond the scale! Here's my update : 1. My wedding ring is falling off - need a re- size 2. My pants never seem "tight enough" how many of us felt like our pants were previously cutting off our circulation ? Lol 3. I get complimented on my clothing by strangers .... Never happened before as I was always wearing frumpy clothes to cover up 4. Strangers in stores ask me " are you always this happy" .... Even though they don't know why- you guys get it .... " yes!!! Yes I am" 5. Finally - only regret .... Why the heck didn't I do this sooner ! Lovin life again
  3. Congratulation on starting your journey to a healthier you! Keep us updated on all your progress, NSV's and ups and down's. The people on here are very supportive and will give advice willlingly if you ask. Lily

    3 pound weight loss

You just crack me up. I'm so proud of you! I don't know what to do with all that math either. From my chair, you have done a superb job translating it into success. SUCCESS, I say!!!!! Are you going to join the Fall Weight Loss Challenge and post at least one NSV each week? I love reading your NSV's. No weight posting for you, but your NSV's make you a great asset to any challenge. We need you there!!

    3 pound weight loss

I'm cross-eyed after all that math, but what exactly did they do to measure your muscle vs. fat? They used a pinchy-caliper thing on my turkey-gobble underarms. You really deserved these awesome NSVs. This was a happy thread!

    3 pound weight loss

Vines.....You are such an inspiration and always there with kind words of encouragement and that means a WHOLE lot! I shy away from the scale because I don't want to get discouraged when I plateau, which I know I will do. Sounds like the scale might be falling slowly but those NSV's are coming in and I have to admit, whenever I get one of those, I'm on cloud 9! Like I said earlier, you are such an inspiration and you should be so proud of yourself!
  7. I hit it by 6oz for the first time in 19 or 20 years. I am pumped but I also had some great NSV this weekend as well. My son had his state robotic competition, this meant leaving at 6:30 AM and got home at 10PM. I didn't appreciate at the time, I never sweat the whole day in fact I had to wear my jacket. I never even considered packing my pockets with tissue to wipe my face or pulling up my hair. I also never hit a point that I was just existing to make it through, I enjoyed it the whole time. With my heart issues I was exhausted yesterday and had to take the day to rest, but I had a smile on my face the whole time. Thank you to everyone on this site, I couldn't do this without you,

    Nykee Update.

Hey, Nykee, great to see you! What an amazing NSV, being able to walk after living life in a wheelchair. That right there will go further towards improving your health than anything you can imagine. Just keep walking! You look wonderful--and it's good to hear your band is OK. Congratulations on your weight loss and keep it up!

    important milestone

Way back when I was pregnant, I bemoaned the fact that I never looked that way because my boobs stuck out further, not by much, but they did. ...now if I had just reminded myself to reverse that situation after the birth! That is a terrific NSV. Congrats!

    Nsv! Celebrate The Little Things!

I feel the same way BrandiMarie!! I actually get up a little earlier in the morning to make myself up and make sure my hair looks good. It's so awesome to feel this way isn't it? Congrats on your NSV!!!

    weekly update

Okay, so I'm a day late. I just didn't have time yesterday morning for my usual routine. I even had to skip my workout at Curves. :cry I'll try to add an extra one this week. This has been my first whole week with a fill. I don't really feel much restriction. I do occasionally feel a little tightness if I eat too fast. A couple of deep breaths usually clears it right up and I can continue eating without any problems. I"m just going to try to take it one meal at a time and see if I get any more restriction. I'm not sure how long my doctor requires between fills. I'll have to call his office and ask. I've had some good NSVs this week, so overall I'm pretty happy with my band. Also as you can see from my ticker, I now have less than 100 pounds to lose!!:clap2: :clap2:

Great NSVs!! Good for you all! My very quiet, rather morose, 19 y.o. son told me other day that I looked nice and that he could really tell a difference. High praise coming from him.

    Too many stalls, sigh!

Just ended a 3 week stall here. You are right Inner Surfer Girl about the complexities of the human body. So we all hang in there, eat right, drink enough Fluid and exercise and have faith one day that scale will move down again. While we wait we look for NSV's. Not making any weight loss related goals here just trying to believe if I work the program it will happen..in it's own time.

    Super Nsv

Well, I am 3 weeks out today and have lost 15 pounds so far, but I have gone down 2 pants sizes and 2 shirt sizes. I saved a pair of jeans that were my favorite (pre-super obese days) and By the time I tried them on, they were too small. Just gonna have to try and get a new pair.

    A caution about fills

I have 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band any more than that any I am to tight. I Love ice cream shakes but it would not mater how tight the band was ice cream and chocolate will always slide down for me. So just because I love them does not mean I can have them every day. Fortunately for me I make more good choices than Bad choices and I concentrate on The NSV's.
  19. Went for my year two follow up since the hip replacements this morning and NYU has a system that tracks all your appointments and test results, etc. in a single system. They use both a photo and a palm print to confirm you in the system and today, the woman at the desk looks long and hard at my photo (taken prior to WLS) and asks me if I'd like a new picture taken. I was pleased as punch and put a big smile on my face as an updated picture is now part of my data profile. Next on the list...my driver's licence and my passport. I always get that hard stare from the male TSA agents...and the comments from the female agents about how I look great now. Not that I mind the comments but I'd like to move past the stares and comments now that I'm nearly three years post banded. Have a great weekend everybody!

    new picture NSV

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, the only thing worse than being stared at is not being stared at. Enjoy this latest NSV. Laurie
  21. Great NSV! Keep up the good work!
  22. Today some relatives from out of town were visiting at my uncle's home with lots of other relatives in attendance. I chose to go (I wouldn't have gone in the past since I was embarrassed about my weight). Instead of feeling ashamed and self conscious, I felt empowered and happy. They were all happy to see me & I rec'd lots of compliments on my weight loss. I love my sleeve!

    September/october Sleevers ?

My 6 months is also up in september and i have the same estimated time for surgery. my insurance only takes a week to a week and a half to decide, but im guessing i will have to submit it more than once. Im really excited to hear all of your progress. I also feel that i am gainin weight on this 6 month diet, but i had an acl surgery and gained 5 lbs and am in the process of getting it off, not happy about it. As far as the medifast. I never heard about the 'not hungry stage of ketosis.' I didn't feel hungry after awhile though. the only time i was actually hungry was having to watch people eat. if i got out of the room or kept myself busy it wasn't too bad. This forum keeps me sticking to my plans and keeps my hopeful. I love to hear success stories and nsvs!

2 (yes TWO) victories this week!!!

16 lbs is great! I am banded 8= months and had a few slow months, I was keeping track of measurments, and the months I didn't loose, man did the inches come off, one month 3 lbs but 15 inches. that made up for no lbs. it also keeps my motivation going. 2 inches in 2 inches!! down 70 lbs and from 22 to now a tight 14 but it fits! for me the inches are better cause thats what I see in the mirror and the size I fit into. People comments just make you walk taller and the self esteem I never had before is showing too. My dr says the sexuality is gleeming and my hubby must love it! hell, I had to look up sexuality, cause Ive never had it let alone, gleeming???? So congrats and keep going I got a great idea on this site, to list the NSV keep track of all the happy exciting changes your body and mind make, its great for those times when your feeling "not so successful" My last NSV I noticed in the bathroom, soory to mention, I no longer have to flush with my hand in a public restroom, I can lift my leg all the way to flush with my foot, and continue standing with ease! hey NSV are stange too!
