    First NSV

I had what I consider my first NSV, I have only been banded 8 days, I lost 10 lbs prior to surgery and I have lost 14 lbs since being banded, so that is 24 lbs from my 1st 100 lbs I need to lose. I am a High Weight High BMI patient. My Highest weight was 576 and My Surgery weight was 566 and My Current weight is 552. I am doing it in small goals of 100, but the best part which is the NSV part is I thought I would have to wait awhile after surgery to be taken completely off my Type 2 Diabetes meds and well I am officially off them and for the first time in a year my sugars are normal, like really normal. I cant believe it, I am so happy. To me that is a NSV because it was one of the reasons I had the surgery was to help get my sugars under control as well as my weight. I am testing my sugar 4 times a day right now to make sure they stay in the normal range but so far they are averaging about 110 with food and alittle lower fasting. Just wanted to share my GOOD news!

Wooooo Hoooo! I loved your NSV's.....Not that I exactly know what that means....Non ___________ Victories? They inspired me. Especially the one about being able to cross your legs. That will be a BIG deal for me on the day it happens. It's been years since I've been able to do that. Happy Anniversary, Mandy!

Morning All, In reference to loosing alot then plataueing, I did the same thing, I lost 36 pounts from the time I started pre-op till i got my first fill, but the last 3 weeks b4 the fill I was stuck BIG TIME, then I went and got my fill, now I have NOT felt any restriction from that fill only 1cc put in, but that first week I guess being on liquids a couple of day or something kickstarted me and I lost 12lbs in ONE week. I called the doctor and asked what was going on, that's alot to loose in a week (not that i'm complaining) they told me the weight lose before the fill was great but when you loose that much you body has to go through a period of what they call compacting and adjusting to the change that is where the scale don't move but you will feel changes in clothes etc. Well that 12lbs lose was last week and this week I haven't lost anything!!!! I really need another fill, I am not restricted and as my past will show i can't continue on willpower for long. I am going to call today for an appt. I guess was upset me so much is I was 255 b4 surgery and when I stopped this week from losing I was at 207, I wanted soooo much to get down to ONEderland before I stopped again and I didn't. But I am trying so hard to stay positive, and look at the fact I have lost 48lbs total. But some great NSV's too, I went from a 44DD bra to a 42D, and from a 24 pants to a 16 now, I do love my band but I really need some restriction right now!!! Thanks for listening guys.

    My NSV List

I am at 10 months post-banding and wanted to share my NSVs with all of you. :clap2: In no particular order: 1. I have a noticable jawline & cheeckbones, and only 1 chin. 2. I can sit in any seat now and not be squished in by the sides. 3. I now shop in the misses section for my tops (size Large). 4. I weigh less now than I have for the last 18 years. 5. I can cross my legs! 6. I can sit in a booth in a resturant without my belly hitting the table. 7. My collarbones are visible again. 8. Hubby can reach all the way around me when he hugs me. 9. I am just over 1/2 way to my goal weight (mine, not doctors). 10. I can look down when standing and see my toes! At my first visit to the surgeon my weight was 329. I now am 249.6. My personal goal is 165 or so (doctor says 135). At 5', 3", that was a lot of weight to carry around. I work out 1 1/2 to 2 hrs 5 days a week at the gym and love it. I hope to be at goal weight at my 2 year bandaversary. Thanks for sharing with me.

  13. I would like to ask everyone to remember my 18 yr. old son tonight as we were out on all 4 of the 4 wheelers and my son's is a racing Yamaha Raptor 660 Limited Edition and does about 110 miles an hour. He was flying and did a wheelie and lost control and wrecked. He is really tore up. It flipped about 9 times and he skidded on the highway for aobut 30 feet and then it landed on him. We had just got it out of the shop yesterday after spending about 500.00 dollars on it and it looks to be just about totalled. As long as he'll be alright is all I am concerned about. I just wished everyone would pray for him, he is the baby. I know I can always count on you guys, Love you all, Sherri P.S. Before surgery I could trail ride the 4 wheelers about 1 hour and had to quit. I've rode on some really rough trails for about 6 hours non stop today. That's my NSV for this week.

    NSV!!!!!

4 months banded I read about alot of bandster nsv's , and would always feel like, oh yippee for that person. 10lbs gone, 20, now im at 30lbs gone. (must update my ticker). 1) well, this morning i had one. actually, ive had more but just had to put my mind to it. this morning i was getting ready for work, red undies call for a red bra, i start rummaging through my lingerie drawer and pull out a red bra. oh yeah, i remember that one. deep plunge in front held together with a little ring. hmmm, let me try it on. i reach behind me and i feel the extender that i had brought because all of my bras hurt, they were too tight. i felt around and unhooked the extender... my bra fit. very well i might add. no extender, no pain, boobies look damn good in my pretty red deep plunge bra!!! 2) i a few weeks ago, i got in my car to go to work and damn... sans cell phone. before the band, i would just go to work, change my msg to say: hey, i forgot my phone at home, call me on my work #... well, this particular time, i got out my car, ran upstairs, got my phone, ran down and got in my car. not winded, no problems. wow. did it w/o thinking about it. those are just two and there are more. im at 204lbs. 5 more to be on OneDerland. i gained 20 some odd lbs in the last two years. where im at right now is only 6-8 lbs lighter than two years ago. nobody has really noticed anything about me. i do. its all uncharted territory now. every lb. will count. i love my band. -r

    How are my March Bandsters!!

Love this thread.....so glad we're back into communicating again!!!! I have lost 70lbs since 3/20/06 :target: I have had 2 fills. The first fill was 2.4cc they took out 1.8cc and put me up to 3cc and it was too much so went back down to 2.9cc. Complications/issues: the fill may be too much. My doc isn't sure he agrees since the barium on flouro goes through in 1sec. Of course, that was in the evening. I have lost around 20 of those pounds in the last 2 wks or so. I am on liquids for 2 wks more....I don't get sick w/ that.. but boy I sure do if I eat more than a bite or two...then it's throw up city!! People at work are just catching on because I didn't start there until after I had lost 30lbs or so. My husband has seen it but SUDDENLY he has REALLY noticed....I know it's tough since he sees me daily to catch it. My NSV's: I am in size 18....haven't been there in years!!! I was in a size 26/28--don't know if that's called 10 sizes or 5?!??! How does that work? :tea: Keep up the good work everyone WE CAN DO IT!!! God Bless, Melody Banded 3/20/06 -70lbs

    How are my March Bandsters!!

How is your weight loss? I have lost 44 lbs. since the a.m. of my surgery; 60 all together! :clap2: Have you had your first fill? I had my first fill on July 12; it was 1cc; seven sticks and finally the doc hit the port. :nervous Has any one noticed your shrinking? EVERYONE notices when they see me! My next-door neighbor kept me out talking to her about it for over an hour the other day! :tea: Complications or issues your having? When I don't chew chew chew or eat slowly enough or take small enough bites, I PB or slime. :frusty: I am hit and miss with exercise which makes me very disappointed in myself! I've used a zillion excuses...being on vacation, staying with my mother who is ill, etc. Stupid excuses! I recently bought 2 Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the ___________ and I must say...the 30 minutes zoom by! I just have to make myself do them! As for NSVs...I've had so many!! Wearing a size 14/16 and buying new clothes, sitting in the movie theatre with room to spare in my seat, being able to say NO and mean it, buying new rings because my old ones are too big (as in flying off my hands when I talk), seeing people who haven't seen me in a while and having them rave about how much better I look; being told that I look AT LEAST 10 years younger, feeling like I want to do something other than stay in bed all day! :target: This restrictive device has given me the freedom from the prison that held me captive for so many years: food. :sun:

    Another semi NSV

Wheetsin I had to laugh at what an idiot you have to deal with. She should really listen to what is pouring out of her pie hole. yikes! You are kicking butt, and you know it. Don't worry, the "no strings attached" NSV is soon to follow.

    Another semi NSV

You handle yourself so well. I think I would have to have said something. The fact that you didn't say anything says so much about you. This woman is hatefull and has her own issues and insecurities. You, on the other hand, are a strong and gracious lady. That is the biggest NSV to take from this experience in my opinion!!!!!!!
  21. leatha_g

    Another semi NSV

Funny how those closest to us turn out to be our greatest critics, sabatouers, etc. I guess my greatest NSV was when I told the lady at Curves how much I weighed BEFORE she put me on the scale and she said 'there is no way you can way that much!'. Strangers have a much more objective view and those who know us or live in close proximity to us seem to have a need to 'keep us in our place', so to speak. Sad.. Not sure how big or small she is, but take heart in thinking in your own mind, maybe you can offer her your own clothes as you no longer need them. If your stats are up to date, you've lost over 90 lbs!! There is NO WAY one could not notice.. what a witch! Great job!!!
  22. mousecrazy

    Another semi NSV

You know this already, but this woman's comments say OH SO MUCH about her, and really not much at all about you (in the area of character). So, if she says you can "almost" notice your weight loss, I would interpret it to mean, "Way to go! You look great!" It's all in the interpretation. It's an NSV, bona fide!

    Another semi NSV

I've yet to have a true, authentic, COMPLETE public NSV. By "public" I mean something that doesn't relate to what size I'm in, or what my nekkidness looks like. Something that someone else says to me or notices. I have all kinds of what I consider "semi NSVs". You know - those NSVs that are going great UNTIL the person adds that last little something that just brings the car to a dead stop. Today a lady I work with (not my favorite person) comes over while I'm eating lunch and starts talking to me. While talking she keeps looking at my body. I'm sitting in my chair leaning back with my hands across my stomach and she keeps looking at my stomach, at my arms, at my hips, etc. while she's talking to me. She says, "It looks like your weightloss is going really well." (that's the NSV part) Then she proceeds to say, "I saw you walking down the hallway the other day and I thought to myself, "Oh, yeah, she's losing weight, I can kind of see it. Not real noticeable, not real obvious, but still there, just a little bit." So I wanted to let you know that even though you can't tell that much yet, you really can almost start to see a difference." *sigh* Then she's asking me all about what I can or can't eat, and how much. So I pointed to my lunch plate (chile lime refried Beans, turkey pepperoni) and tell her, "Well, I grabbed the last of what I had in the fridge since it's Friday, but I'll actually eat about half of this." And she says, "Yeah, I noticed your plate and was thinking you really had an awfully big lunch to be eating if you're trying to lose weight." (My lunch was about 20 cooked pepperonis and 2 spoonfuls of beans). *sigh* Dammit, what does a girl have to do to get a real, bona fide, no-strings-attached, public and COMPLETE NSV? :target: *sigh* BTW - no, I don't take what this lady says to heart. It's who she is. When my co-worker was pregnant - very pregnant (sz 4, carrying twins - she was HUGE) she pretty much started just wearing knit skirts and the basic tanks from Old Navy. One day she and I were headed to lunch and this other lady tells her, "Wow, you're usually so feminine, and so classy, I never figured you'd be the type to wear a 'wife beater' like trashy people do."

    How are my March Bandsters!!

Wow, everyone is doing wonderfully. Congratulations! I was banded on 3/30 and have lost 45 pounds so far. The hardest part for me was the fill process. My surgeon makes you wait a full 8 weeks for a first fill and, when I did get it, it did nothing. The second fill was double the first amount and gave me some idea of what restriction was but it was this last fill (#3, 8 days ago) that finally gave me proper restriction. Only one person has noticed my weight loss but my clothes are getting baggy and I will soon need to go to a lower size. The current slacks that I am wearing were skin tight before surgery and now they're dragging on the floor and slip right on so I can tell I'm making progress. I haven't had any serious complications but have vomited once after this third fill. I didn't chew enough, got the golf ball (make it a tennis ball) feeling/pain and ran to the bathroom. NOT pleasant. Because I was not restricted until a week ago and could eat anything with no problem, I am now learning to take my time eating, chewing well, and stopping the minute I feel discomfort. Because of needing a total knee replacement (arthritis) I am unable to work-out at a gym. I have gradually increased the amount of walking I do, work out in the garden and, in general, have a lot more energy. As for a NSV, being able to sit in MOST chairs and fit comfortably ranks high on the list.

    How are my March Bandsters!!

Hi all, I'm 69lbs down and generally doing well with my band. I have had 2 fills but can still eat what I want as long as I am careful. I have to chew my food really well and take small bites or it's golf ball time! Not one person has commented about my weightloss yet :phanvan and this gets me down but hey one of these days they will have to- right? I'm still wearing the same clothes but they are finally getting looser. I have a treadmill and walk 2 miles a day (if I possibly can) and I go swimming whenever I can. I like my new improving fitness very much and just want to keep on getting better and better. My favourite Non Scale Victory (NSV) is that after a year of not being able to...I can now wear my wedding band and engagement rings again with absolute comfort. They are even getting a little big now :biggrin1: My losing pattern is weird. I tend to stay the same for one or two weeks and then all of a sudden I drop 8-9lbs and then I stick again. And that is where I'm at now!
