    Unfill Question

well my doc doesnt advocate the liquid diet after fills, he just says to be careful, so no, I didnt do a liquid diet at all after my recent .2ml unfill. But I found it to be like a fill. Small immediate effect, then about a week later, I noticed how much easier it was to eat, how much hungrier I was and how many more really healthy foods (as opposed to sliders) I could eat. None of which led to weight gain thank goodness. I dont know why I got so tight, one of those things I guess. PMT, plane flight etc all happening round the same time.
  2. I couldn't sleep, so decided to play around with my before/current picture to see what I could do. I think it turned out pretty good. It's actually neat to have some kind of idea what I could look like once I lost all this weight!

    Hungry

I was creeping back into the habit of night eating, and gained back seven pounds. Now, I make sure that I have deviled eggs and sugar free Jello in the fridge, so that if I totally cave in, I still have a quick harmless option to grab. Sugar free popsicles help, too, when my taste buds just want something to do. I also do better if I eat my carbs earlier in the day, and go no-carb with dinner. Last evening I had a grilled steak (saved half for breakfast), fresh green Beans and a slice of tomato.

    Goal

Holy...cow! 115 lbs gone, and you look 20 years younger!!! I'm just starting my journey - I'm 13 days post op, and am down 32 lbs...can't wait to hit my goal weight! You are an inspiration to all of us! Thank you so much for posting the pics along the way!! You look great!!!

    Stalled

Remember also they pump you full of gas during surgery and lots of IV fluids, it takes a while for all that to disperse also. I encourage you to stick to your plan exactly, get moving as much as you can and walk a lot. I think you will find that your weight loss will resume. Everybody loses differently, though. From here on, your sleeve will be a "tool" - not a cure. You will have to work at it too. Good luck and keep us updated!

    BMI ticker isn't working

I only want my ticker to show my BMI, but ever since the update, it only ever shows my weight. I've deleted and remade it many times and it continues to do so.
  7. Sorry, didn't have time to search through all of the topics. But my BMI ticker shows my weight and I can't seem to change it

    Hard Time With Food

I agree with Oregon, work on one thing at a time. A simple rule like no eating between meals, without any other restrictions (you can eat what and how much you feel like) can be very effective, because its not really the fact that you decide to eat KFC for lunch that does the damage, its the nibbling you do bit by bit before and after that. And the other thing I found with my weight loss is that I absolutely SUCK at dieting. I am really no good at it, the minute I decide I'm going to, I want to eat everything in sight. So I banned dieting forever more and decided that portion control was it for me and I decided to be excellent on the exercise part of the equation. Those two things are probably what helped me the most. I can choose healthy for the most part but knowing I've got no "rules" really quiets the need to choose poorly every single time. I enjoy naughty foods when i darn well want to but I dont eat between meals and I run at least 7kms every day and that kept (and keeps) me on track. I had to accept slower weight loss for that and perhaps now I'm having to accept not ever losing that last 10lb that would probably shift those last little lumps and bumps. I was never a star loser, so there's a price but to me, any loss was a loss.
  9. My port is located around my breast bone, so when I wear an underwire bra too long it hurts. Also I have noticed that when I sleep or lay on my stomach for too long it hurts too. I have lost quite a bit of inches/weight in my port area and can feel it very easily. Makes me wonder if when it is all said and done, I may have to have it relocated. Who knows just taking it as it comes.
  10. Unless you plan on going out, don't pack too many clothes. I took the clothes I wore down there, a night gown, and clothes for the trip back. Take some reading material, and can we say it enough....Gas-x. Also, if you are going to go with the carry-on bag make sure you take one with rollers or a back pack that spreads the weight on both shoulders. I took a one handle duffle bag and I was regretting in on the way back. Due to gas pain, (which mine was bad because I chose to sleep instead of walk right after surgery) it hurt to carry it on one shoulder. Hey I have an 8month old and figured I would trade the gas pain for several good hours of uninterrupted SLEEP. Hey I don't regret it at all, it was heaven. GOOD LUCK!
  11. Hey ladies!! just thought I would share...2 more days until I hit the big 4-0 on Thursday. I had to go to DMV at lunch today to renew my driver's license. I was afraid of failing the vision test because I am supposed to wear reading glasses and didn't want to have to be told to wear them while driving. I was so preoccupied with that and not thinking about anything else. I also had to take a new picture. Well, I did not recognize myself. My old pic was taken like 8 years ago when I was like 350 and I never changed the weight. Well today not only did I get to change the weight to 225 but I got to say "who's that girl?". Big difference in the two pictures. I even look younger in the new picture and I'm even smiling & wearing a fuschia shirt:teeth_smile:

    NSV @ the DMV

My highest weight ever was 368 which was like 10 years ago. I had lost weight over the years and never regained (Atkin's etc.). So by the time I started inquiring about LapBand i was like 320. I lost 20 pounds from the time I got serious about band and surgery day. On surgery day, I was 300.5 & today I am 225. So not all of my weightloss was due to the band. Only about 75-80 pounds of it. I'm in a serious plateau right now but still losing inches. This bothers me tremendously because I want the scale to move some too. People say that is still good because means I am losing fat/gaining muscle but I'm not trying to be a body builder or anything. I just want to see 199.

    Surgery Scheduled For 12/11

Hi Caroline, I too have gotten mixed reviews (and opinions) from family and friends... what I am seeing is that I get a lot of cheers and support from those who have struggled with their weight over the years and wished they were able to select WLS as an option. Also, I get some of those frowned looks from others who are relatively healthy, health and wellness junkies, or thin already etc. ....they seem to think that I should be able to "focus" and manage my weight without a surgical procedure. Who cared what others think/say....you have to be comfortable with your decision. I've learned how to manage taking in the opinions of others and rather choose to just be happy and positive with my own decision. Finally, I've still got to inform my supervisor that I will be out do to "abdominal" surgery ....that's all I will be dislosing to my employer. I am waiting to speak to my nurse/scheduler on Monday to select my December surgery date. Wishing you the best!!

    I feel....

Can you find your instructions from surgery and locate what level or stage of eating you are on? Stick as close to that as possible and the weight will fall off... Promise But you have to do the work... VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 169

    Prolapse with A & P repair

I haven't seen a doctor yet. I go to my first seminar next week. I hadn't even thought about weight lost affecting my repair until my husband said something. Even if it does affect it I still want the sleeve surgery done to help me lose weight. I can have that fixed again later on

  18. I have been feeling funny in my tummy for the past 24 hours. Just wondering what this is. If you don't know me, I was banded on Sept 30th, so I am 3.5 weeks post op. I had complications after surgery and ended up in the hospital for a week (possible reaction to the band, possible infection). I have been doing fine since then and I am now on mushies. Since my surgery I have lost 28 lbs. I am on CPAP and I noticed that my stomach was filling with air while I sleep, so I turned down the pressure...All better now, but it worried me that I was stretching out my stomach. I hadn't really been hungry, but yesterday I felt like my stomach was growling all day. Even after eating I felt this weird "bubble-like/rumbling" feeling in my stomach. I took some lortab elixer and it seemed to help. My surgeon's office told me that they would give me a fill when ever I felt like I needed it, but I thought I would put it off as long as I could since I was loosing weight and since I had complications(wanted to let everything heal good). Is this spasms or is it hunger? Should I get a fill?

Dont Know What To Do... (Cigna Oa Blues)

Sorry to hear about your denials, but hopefully the new letter will clear everything up for you. I am glad you posted what was required in the letter. I have Cigna (OAP) also, and I've been worried that my PCP wouldn't know what to write. I understand the letter needs to include: 1. Height, weight, BMI 2. Co-morbidities 3. Statement saying the surgery is medically necessary 4. Medical clearance that it's safe for me to have the surgery Did I miss anything? Thanks, your help is appreciated.

    3 months 55 lbs

I had my surgery on Jan 22nd @ 310 surgery day. I hit 253 this morning but the weight bounces around up to about 255. I have a goal of 245 by april 22nd which will be my 3 month anniversary... If I can hit that goal is will be 65lbs down in 3 months. I consider my weight loss above average but I also burn 750-1000 calories in the gym 6 days a week. The weight loss has slowed down big time in month 3.

    Darn My Mom!!!!

I have the same problem. Good thing she lives 3hrs away. The good thing is, whenever I gain really fast, I can take off fast.

    Just starting my journey

I wish you luck Jenn. I have opted not to go the insurance rout (I love my father endlessly for all that he does for me :-) because I am not in a position to qualify with mine and I don't want to wait to get two secondary life threatening conditions before I have the surgery. I agree with what's been said here. Spending time in forums, info sites, and youtube is of great use. I love youtube. I plan on starting a video channel of my journey myself. I've just been given a surgery date for my vsg October 7th. I'm excited and scared. This is a big change a bit change that I have let fear keep me from doing. But I've let fear keep me from many things and that ends now. I'm 30 years old and have never, in the purview of my memory, known a weight lower then 220. Good luck. Message me if you want to share nervousness :-)
  23. and I figured it was time to check out Bariatric Pal and see if it is a good fit for me..being as I have tried lots of diets and lost lots of weight and gained it back every time plus..well, to put it mildly I go into this very cynically. It's a drastic move for me and I feel as if it is a last ditch effort. Its' exciting to look at before and after pictures and read the stories behind them but I don't want to get my hopes up. This will probably be more of an emotional situation for me then just a dieting thing- I can do diet with the best of them but hate limiting myself forever. I don't sit around eating bags of chips or quarts of ice cream or pkgs of oreos but I could eat healthier and exercise more except I have gotten into a rut as I've gotten older-eat out too much and I have so many aches and pains that I shy away from serious exercise. So..what's the success rate with this attitude? I have 6 weeks before the big day,I've read a BUNCH of books on the sleeve-recipe books, spiritual readiness, and a couple of funny ones about personal experiences and how they dealt with the ups and downs of this life-changing step (no pun intended) Look forward to learning how to navigate around this site and meeting some kindred spirits, gmalinda
  24. I didnt expect this "insurance game" to play out like this. Bear with me --this may be a little lengthy... My first letter from Cigna (OA) was last week.. I posted my frustration, but felt as though things would get approved. This past monday I received an official denial. The letter stated that they needed the letter from another physician other than the surgeon. The problem is that my primary physician wrote a letter that included my weight, BMI, co-morbitities, and that I would be a good candidate for the surgery. this was included in my file. I spoke to my Pre-determination cordinator, and he didnt know why it was denied..... I called Cigna and asked them what were they looking for, and what is the next step.... Mind you, EVERYTHING ELSE is there. I thought perhaps my surgeons office did not fax the primary's MD's letter. They faxed a "reconsideration" letter yesterday, and it was denied today. Feeling very anxious, I called Cigna, and explained everything, and wanted to know if my letter from the primary was there. The rep from Cigna was very nice. She found the letter, but it wasnt worded specifically for Cigna. They want the wording to specifically say that I am healthy enough for surgery, and that I am medically clear from the primary's standpoint. Ok.. so i called my primary's office, and now they are saying that the Dr may not clear me medically because I dont have a surgery date yet. I called the surgeons office AGAIN, and he said that he will schedule me a "dummy" date, and will fax the correct "verbiage" to the Primary... So now... we wait Well... by the end of all of that, I could even concentrate at work. I had so many feelings going on. I felt like the go-between with my surgeons office and Cigna.. I felt like my pre determination guy isnt working hard enough.. (He seems too nonchalant for me). Are these normal feelings for someone in this situation? Is there anything else I could do? At first I thought of other routes (i.e Mexico) or giving up all together..I was really having a pity party BUT after I looked at other people who have done this, and who are living better, healthier lives, Im ready to fight again! I will not give up on the count of some technicality... Ive met all the qualifications for this, and Ive put so much of my time, and money into this. Ive worked really hard trying to get this together, So the Saga continues.... I will keep everyone posted.... p.s. I know I have some typos, but I cant find the spell check.. lol
  25. I feel great!!! I work out at the gym an hour a day. I'm dropping the weight that's for sure, and you will too. Just remember to stick to the plan that your doctor will have you on and you will be fine. You got this!!!
