    Nsv With A Friend

What a great NSV! Congrats to you. People at work are starting to notice how baggy my clothes are getting, it's such a compliment, but at the same time, so hard for me to accept/believe/process. I don't know the right word, but it's just not something I'm used to hearing! :-D

    I think I had a NSV

Thanks. I had a NSV today also. Went to Walmart and saw a skirt in size 14 and an XL blouse. Bought them, took them home, and they fit!!! I never wear skirts, but I think I will when we cruise next month. Maybe I'll have to return them for a Large and size 12. I am wearing size 14 jeans now. Down from 16W and then 16. I am trying all my clothes on in the closet too. Even my bras are too big. I get my first fill next week. This is the BEST thing I gave ever done. I LOVE MY BAND:)))

    I think I had a NSV

    Diane, A NSV is a non-scale victory.
  4. 9 months post op, and I have been the same weight for the past 2 months. Today I finally lost 2.2 Ib (1 kg) ..... I am so close to goal ..... and it is so, so very slow for me now. I am eating still same size portions, 1/2 cup, but I really concentrate on Proteins and more Water. I even eat very little fruit, especially rock melon that I love. I thought this happened to me because I was lower BMI to start with ...... However, my March buddies also noticed that the weight loss has really slowed down, for most of us. At least, I lost the 2.2 Ib, took me 2 months ... but it is still happening at a snail's pace. I have better NSVs, so I am still shrinking, even though the scales are not budging much ..... Good luck with those last few pounds! You have done so well! Congratulations! Great topic, thank you @@JupiterinVirgo

    Nsv--wow

I went to K Mart today and bought a new bathing suit. It fit perfectly--a size 12! I haven't been in a size 12 for 18 years. I was so happy that I took that little leopard print size 12 home and modeled it for my DH. I have been floating on a cloud. The band works!

FYI - I'm RNY not Lap Band

I eat mostly tilipia....though I like tuna and salmon as well. I just dont' cook them as well. It'll get better I'm sure. I've been cooking up a bit and then packing it int he little 4 oz rubbermaid containers to have it ready to go. I've found with talking to different trainers....they all tell you differently. LOL I really want to get the study course to study for certification myself, but it just isn't possible right now. I've defiently gotten some muscle weight on me. I can see muscles, which is cool, just wish I didn't see the fat hanging from them LOL...working on it. I had a great NSV today...ran into someone at the grocery store and she said "wow, hardly didn't recognize you, you are loosing so much weight!" Of course I actually had makeup on and was dressed in something other than sweats LOL. For training right now, I'm doing 30-70 minutes of cardio a day...and 30-60 minutes of weights. Today was a light day and I only did 30 minutes cardio and NO weights. (they tried to call me into work this morning, and I was afraid to go in to workout in fear they would rope me into working or I'd feel quilty for NOT working.) Pathetic I know. I have a 14 year old I worry about getting the wrong idea about me getting the surgery. I DID do it to loose weight, and I hoped it would PREVENT future medical problems. I was a lucky fat gal, no medical problems based on my weight. My doc was even surprised. I attribute most of that to working out though. I've been working out pretty reguarlly for over 2 years now....even if I haven't lost weight with it...I've gained health benifits and energy. Witht he 14 year old I try to emphasis what I eat that is HEALTHY and that if I hadn't spent SOOO many years eating the wrong things, and had of started exercising earlier, I wouldn't have NEEDED the surgery. Right now she is very self concious of the "extra" weight she carries. I on the other hand would look at her "extra" as perfectly acceptable to ME lol. I have got her trying some of my new vegitarian cuisine. Hubby is worried I'm going to become a vegitarian and he'll never have steak again. At this very moment I think I could give up red meat forever....I'm that scared of trying it.

    Pre-Op Journey

Update: I have lost 14lbs total and 6 inches in the last two weeks! Ive had several NSVs! 1. I’ve gone down a jean size and can wear some shirts one size down as well. 2. I felt like running down the driveway to take some trash to the dumpster a few days ago, so I ran there and back (about 60 yards) without losing my breath! 3. I’m able to get on my horses easier. Less strain on them makes us both happier. 4. I’ve noticed my face is getting thinner. 5. I’ve had only 2-3 days of feeling bloated. 6. I’m feeling better mentally on a consistent basis. I have applied and been accepted to a Horseshoeing school for 12 weeks starting February 4th. I’ll be on my feet about 7 hours per day doing manual labor, so I expect the weight loss will be dramatic. I’m also hoping that I get to ONE-derland before I leave for school, which should be a reasonable goal if I continue the trend I’ve been on. I’ve started a goal list where I hit a goal every 2-4 pounds. I’m doing this because 5lbs may take 2-3 weeks, and I want to feel successful as often as possible. I’ve gone back through medical records to give myself encouragement (ex: I hit 208lbs yesterday. The last time I weighed 208 lbs was December 2016). This helps me because I imagine myself reversing the damage I’ve done to my body instead of feeling like it’s a long journey ahead. Anyway, long post so if you’re still here, thank you for reading! I will update as soon as I hit the 15lb total loss that I’m expecting in the next couple of days!

    Nsvs

Hey Fam!!! I know it's been a while since my last update, but things are a little crazy.. However, I just wanted to share a few things... So... I flew to DC over the weekend and I think my anxiety about flying is almost over.. So, I get on the plane... I didn't get any "no, I hope the fat lady doesn't sit here looks" and neither did I have to say excuse one time as I walked down the aisle w/ my very cute Anne Klein carry on (LOL, hey.. it was my gift to myself!!)... So, I sit in the seat and get ready to ask for an extender and then I remember, I can buckle this thing now!!! So, it was a little snug over my sweater, but hey.. I could breath!!! I dropped something on the floor and bent to pick it up w/o thinking about it.. (That's huge for me, using I mull it over for a few minutes!) At the hotel, I could actually soak in the tub w/o touching the side!!! Also, there was no fear about fitting into the chairs in the conference room or walking a few blocks from the hotel to meet w/ colleagues!!.. i may not have lost a million pounds, but I've gained so much more in terms of who I am and what I am capable of doing physically, emotionally and in every other kind of way!! I can now go into a department store (my favorite this week is Carson Pirie Scott) and grab things off of the rack.. in a few sizes smaller than the largest size they offer.. This is HUGE for me!! Before being sleeved, I couldn't wear the largest women's plus size in ANYTHING!!! Now, I have fixation w/ the Kleins (Anne and Calvin)... LOL.. I have to get a new winter coat or 3.. and boots.. So, I am 2 pounds away from kissing the 300s goodbye FOREVER!!!...Here are a few stats.. Starting wt. 382 Current 301 (and falling) Starting size 28/30 (3x/4x)/48DD Current size 20 (1X/ some XL)/42D Starting Waist 56 Current 43.5 Tina-isms: The sleeve can give you a great start to changing your life overall, but you still have to do the work!! Yes, I have bad days and eat BAD stuff... my body let's me know that it doesn't want it.. I can keep eating or I can allow my sleeve to do what it was meant to do. Don't beat yourself up, just tell yourself the TRUTH!!! I know when I'm not doing enough of the right things and I can't be mad at my surgeon, the scale or DOVE chocolate for making those delicious dark chocolate/raspberry bits of goodness!!! But, I don't have to beat myself up.. I just make a better decision at my next meal! Life, even the sleeved life is meant to be lived to the fullest and enjoyed to the fullest!!!

    A BIG NSV week

I attended my first work conference this week since being sleeved 6/24/13. First NSV occurred on the plane, NO seatbelt extender needed. I did ask for one because I didn't trust that I had lost enough to fit but didn't need it. As a matter of fact, I had about 3 extra inches on the regular seatbelt. Second, my hotel was 1.2 miles away from the convention center and I walked to and from everyday for 4 days, so got my walking in. The NSV to that was that it didn't even wind me, the weather was nice so I didn't even sweat and I walked it in a 3 inch heeled sandal. I stayed on program the entire time of the conference, having the confidence to say "no thank you" to food items I knew I should not eat. I also went to happy hour everyday, did not drink even though I really wanted to. Last NSV was putting on my bathing suit and going to the hot tub and taking off my cover-up to get into the spa. No shame, no self-consciousness, just at a place where I know I don't look the best in my suit but I sure don't look the worst either and I know I am transitioning to a smaller me and I am comfortable with my place in the world right now. I haven't felt that way in years. Life is so much more about how we feel about ourselves, what we are doing for ourselves, than what we look like in a bathing suit. I guess with weight loss, total of 45lbs so far, I am actually learning about myself again, that might be my happiest NSV

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

That is the funniest NSV, but only because I could completely understand it. Mine probabley shaves 50 lbs off. I just couldn't ever bring myself to change it.
  16. @@CherieN how tall are you? I'm 5'8 and 243 but I'm still a 2 at Torrid :-/ But it's better than the 4 I used to be! I started at 325, too. My NSV is I bought a pair of sexy heels and I can actually walk in them comfortably!
  17. Summerrain

    Very first NSV!!!

Oh boy you just made my eyes go all watery!! An awesome NSV!!
  18. What were some surprising/unexpected changes you experienced after being sleeved?
  19. Oh, what a difficulty! I love NSVs that really point out to us how much weight we've lost. You could just get the chains shortened, or wear them wrapped twice around your neck!
  20. Hey, @@Dub, I don't have any recommendations, but thought you might appreciate this old NSV. It's since been replaced by a queen, but, at the time of surgery, I had a full-sized bed. Prior to surgery, at my all-time high of 311, I'd lie in it and feel so miserable. It looked and felt as though I were in a twin., When I lost about 100 lbs, I wasn't checking, but happened to notice how much larger the bed seemed, enough that I thought of myself as having lost a whole bed size.
  21. I took my first business trip this week since being sleeved on 2/22. I have lost 48 pounds, and felt pretty confident about being able to handle being outside of my safe environment of home/work/family/selected restaurants. Then, I realized I wouldn't be able to take liquids through the TSA security checkpoint, and wouldn't be able to take any Protein drinks with me (as "backup" if I couldn't find a decent protein choice). Gulp - one crutch was taken from me! ( I talked to a TSA agent, and described to him being on a special diet and needing to carry liquids through - he said they would accomodate that - would need the OK of a supervisor) It was fun packing smaller sizes for the trip - I have dropped from 24Ws to 18Ws so far. The normally tiring trip of walking from the car to the terminal, through security to the gate was not tiring at all. I made it through security with no problem. I noticed bending over to tie my shoes after I replaced them on me feet was much easier! Before it had been a chore, sitting on a bench just to get my damn shoes tied. The first place I checked in the terminal that sold magazines and Water had Muscle Milk Protein Drinks also - I bought two (just in case) and two bottles of water. I passed by my old favorite travelling companion - peanut M&M's. And, I didn't even say hello to the sugared papaya at the fruit and nut stand. Once I got on the plane (US Air) I noted how closely spaced the rows were. But, even with that, the tray table would go down into its normal horizontal position when lowered. Before, it would tilt up because of running into my thighs and belly. I buckled the seatbelt WITH NO NEED FOR AN EXTENDER!! YEA!! And, during the flight I had to make use of the facilities. It really seemed as if the toilet closet was larger this trip. I used the two muscle milk drinks during the trip, but had no problem finding protein (chicken, shrimp) to eat. It's not as though I was travelling to the third world - I just went to Connecticut. In the airport on my return trip, I had two layovers. Instead of reading and eating my favorite junk/comfort foods (my usual ways to kill time in an airport), I walked laps of the terminals with my rolling bag trailing behind me. I probably walked 30-45 minutes total that day doing that. Word of worning - the TSA agents may question this as "odd" behavior - they are on edge this week due to the death of Bin Laden. On my third lap by a TSA agent - he asked me what I was looking for - and could he help me find it. I thanked him and told him I was exercising. I even had to do a short sprint to make a connection - barely made it! Before the 48 pound loss, I probably would have missed the flight. Anyway - life is good - even when putting up with the hassle of travelling by air. No one needs to worry that they will have to eat "bad" things when they are travelling if they are aware of the options available. And, the victories - although minor - are certainly sweet!
  22. I'm having trouble finding before and after photos of people who've lost weight with surgery - on this site. When I look at the gallery, only some of the posts have before/after. I have to open each one just to find out if they even have both pictures. Is there a better way to find these that I haven't figured out, yet? Also, what does NSV stand for? Thanks!

    Notorious November NSV!

My clothes are probably my biggest NSV. The only problem is that I'm about out of things that fit me!! I have baggy butt problems with most of my pants, LOL. I'm not complaining though! I went and checked out a second hand store to try and find some pants. I got a few pairs that'll fit hopefully soon---but they didn't really have anything that'll work for right now. I really don't want to go buy a bunch of new stuff though...since I'm still losing. My 11yr old son got his arms all the way around me!!! I love that my kids are proud of me. Great job janesays! I bet that felt great!! I had bought a shirt off the clearance rack that I never dreamed would fit...and it does now!! Such a great feeling!
  24. Tells us your Non-scale victories! One of mine is that I am wearing 4x shirts now and they are getting loose! :cursing:
