Looks like I need to check out genepro! Thanks everyone, I am still having a hard time with protein

    Favorite unflavored protein?

The company that makes Genepro does offer a sample but I believe I paid $4 for it. Totally worth it...can't wait for my big bag to come in!

    Favorite unflavored protein?

Just ordered some Genepro myself ????????

    Favorite unflavored protein?

I just tried unjury unflavored and hated it. I didn't even put NEAR the serving amount into a large bottle of Crystal Light and it had a bad aftertaste. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it...maybe try to sneak small amounts of it into my meals and Water all day? UGH. I do the Premier Protein premade chocolate ones and they're great, but I'm sick of sweet things. I'm looking forward to trying GENEPRO and nectar.

    Favorite unflavored protein?

I could not handle any of the Protein drinks either at first. I now can drink Premier and I like it. GENEPRO is still my favorite. I have used it for nearly a year....all my lab is good and I did not lose any hair since I kept my protein levels high.

    Favorite unflavored protein?

I too could not handle the flavored protein drinks post surgery. Recently I purchased GenePro unflavored protein powder. I mix it with Crystal Light and don't taste a thing. I have mixed it in scrambled eggs, pudding and soup...Love it!!! They offer a sample pack.
  7. I was really shocked when my post op nurse offered me coffee as one of my liquid choices after surgery... I can have coffee if I want it. I usually have a really big cup every morning with my GENEPRO Protein powder in it to get me going As for alcohol, I've only had a couple of drinks since surgery 6 months ago. One thing is true... A little goes a long way! haha! My doctor just said to be careful with alcohol and drink in moderation. The only beverage I was told is definitely off limits is anything carbonated because it can stretch my sleeve.
  8. Great information Erato. I think i will try the unflavored genepro. I think you are right the amount of food you can eat now is so much lower than any amount ever used by any diet plan that a little carb can't hurt. My brother had the sleeve and he did tell me he focused on weight loss during the first months and now he eats pretty much all foods just not everyday. In the old days he would eat a whole foot long subway sandwich, last night he ate only 1/4 of the footlong and he was no longer hungry. That is now a normal amount for him. So I do think the amount of food consumed after surgery is a Big part of the weight loss not just the type of food. The important part is getting the protein in and sounds like you have that covered. When do you go off soft foods?

sleeve buddy in San Antonio ?

@@rln, I was able to start driving once I was off the pain meds. Pre-op j was using GNC's Total Lean 25 powder shakes. I found the powder more filling and creamier than the pre-made Total Lean 25 shakes. Post-op, I do the pre-made since they are a bit thinner and go down easier. I do the powder Total Lean every so often but I use Water instead of milk. Also, I was using Unjury's unflavored Protein powder to get an added protein boost to my Soups and other foods. However, I've switched to Musclegen GENEPRO unflavored Protein Powder. I can only find it on Amazon or on Genepro's website, though. It's about $10-$15 more than Injury, but you get much more out of it because you only need 1 tablespoon to get 30g of protein. unjury is 21g for a larger scoop that is = to about 2-2.5 tablespoons. Additionally, the Genepro dissolves much better in food and drinks. In regards to diet, technically, I'm supposed to be on soft foods till 6/22, but I'm actually eating whatever. For the most part they are soft but this weekend at a birthday party I had about 4 chips but I just chewed them very, very well. Most foods are soft as long as you chew well, ya know? I try to limit my carbs because my nutritionist promotes the low carb diet, but I don't freak out. In my opinion I'm eating so little that a teaspoon of rice or 4 chips once or twice a week isn't the end of the world especially if everything else that enters my mouth had a high nutritional value. I do need to start upping my veggies because a high protein diet is killer on your lower digestive system. Fiber gumnie and stool softeners are a must. Lastly, I'm also taking 1 Probiotics pill daily. It has 4 billion active cultures or whatever the term is that they use. Supposedly, and you may be able to find more about this searching the boards, there was a scientific study that was done on bypass patients testing the affect of probiotics on weightloss and the group that had the probiotics lost a much higher percentage of weight. I know that was for bypass patients, but probiotics can help everyone even if they don't help me lose weight, IMHO they help digestion in general.I'll look for the link to the article and I'll post it.

    My Texas Sleevers

@GotToBeSlim, I get a wee bit o gas of I swallow too much air when eating but that happens very, very rarely. I haven't had really gas pains, but sometimes when I have a little gas in my stomach, the moment of it feels like hunger! It's cray! It happened 1 week out the 1st time. I was like, "WTF? I'm hungry? Why is my stomach growling?" Then I realized it was just gas. Again it doesn't hurt, it's just that the moment of the gas sounds and feels like your stomach is growling. I am hyper aware of my body since aware of any physiological changes. since surgery. By the way, if u need unflavored Protein, GENEPRO had a great one. It's 30g per tablespoon. It's totally changed my protein life. Keep up the awesome work! ????
  11. So is Genepro a proven protein? Guaranteed to be what they say?
  12. I never want to cook anymore. When I first had surgery I was pretty interested in trying new recipes (mostly along the clean-eating line), but now that I literally take 4 bites of anything and feel full, I just have become uninterested in cooking. I find myself eating just anything with protein to get my tummy full and then move on. It's just me and my hubby at home now, so cooking for only 2 was something I was struggling with before, but now that I'm cooking for 1 and 1/4 it's a real challenge. I miss food and miss good meals. An example of my eating is yesterday I had coffee with Genepro protein powder for breakfast, a protein shake for lunch, and some cottage cheese with carrot sticks for dinner. I also ate a few nuts for a snack. I want a hot meal for goodness sake that isn't going to get thrown out because there's too much. Anybody else going through this or have ideas for me?
  13. I am with you Bluesea71, GENEPRO is tasteless. I put it in my pre-workout drink and it dissolved well, mixed well and tastelessly with my eggs. It is worth trying. I have been trying to get my protein up closer to 200g per day, and at 30g a serving this could supplement the 100g I am getting from regular food sources.
  14. I'm 14 months post-op and have tried them all. Unflavored unjury clumps up (and in my opinion, tastes horrible.). I ended up throwing out any food or drink I added it to. It's sad because its the only medical grade Protein out there used in hospitals. I feel 100% confident it has the 21 grams of protein it says it has in it... But what good is it if it is left unused in my cubbord? I am at goal weight but am wanting to find something to increase my protein to increase my muscle mass. I was curious about GENEPRO as I had never heard about it before a week ago. I will attach a recent link I posted to your thread. I ended up ordering some Genepro and posted a review at the end of the link. The powder is tasteless and mixed into my coffee and disappeared. As far as if it is "real" protein, I only have the testimonies on the BP users on this site. There are no studies on the product and its only available on Amazon and the company website. It seems amazing... But I have to wonder why gyms, nutrition stores and doctors aren't promoting it more if its so wonderful? Regardless, I will continue using it since it's an easy add to my morning coffee! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/341782-Genepro--30-grams-of-protein-serving-untrue%3F/page__view__findpost__p__3850001

    Sip walk bored now itchy

I know the feeling. I am 11 days out now and the incisions are starting to itch. I saw my surgeon today. He says I need to take in more fluid. I already knew that. I also need to up my protein. I am thinking about trying Genepro unflavored powder. I am hoping if I get enough protein it will help with the weight loss. Started multivitamin and b12 today. I hope that helps with energy levels.

Day 2 home 5 days from surgery. I did 2 laps around walking trail. No problem getting fluid in. Genepro protein what a lifesaver. 30 grams from one tablespoon and tasteless. But am bloated wasnt with band or sleeve. Pain is more but overall bypass is much easier then others. Not one moment of gerd
  17. I'll find out more tomorrow when Amazon's drone delivers it, but here is the most interesting thing I could find on the product on the web...It arrived last week, and it is flavorless. Mixes well with yogurt, half a scoop dissolves nicely in my coffee. Finally able to boost my protein levels to where they need to be. My hair is not falling out like it was. So I'm sticking with this stuff. I was poking around on the web about this and found this on one of the body building boards: LARGEbagFrontWEB.jpgHey there guys. I am the Doctor/Genetic Bio-Scientist that invented GENEPRO and am the owner of Musclegen Research. Serving size is 1 Tablespoon = 30g of Protein.. Here is a little about the product and the difference between Genepro and any other protein on the market. We are working with bodybuilding.com to carry Genepro as well as out other products.. What makes Genepro so unique is that we are able to reduce the protein molecule to half the size of normal protein through a process called Electrophoresis. This is a reverse electrical polarity method of extracting pure protein. In essence we take protein molecules that, for reference, are the size of a baseball. We push these baseball sized protein molecules through a Polyacrylamide gel (the gel stays below 87 degrees F) and introduce electricity through the gel. This process removes hydrogen ions, allergens and any fillers or binders so we are able to then bind the protein with a strand of six amino acids called a Hexapeptide which stabilizes the molecular structure. This hexapeptide increases shelf life of the protein as well as balancing the bitter taste that is present with the protein after electrophoresis and actually gives the protein a slightly sweet undertone. The protein is pushed through a filtration system and into a centrifuge which results in a pure protein molecule that is now the size of a golf ball (for reference). You may not be able to fit 30 baseballs into a shoe box but you can fit 30 golf balls. Thus giving us the ability to get 30grams of protein in a 1TBS serving size. This process also changes the caloritic count as well to 3.2 calories per gram of protein. The process as well at the hexapeptide are patent pending and have never been used before in nutrition (it's a genetic process that is used primarily in forensic science). The other interesting fact is that most protein supplements digest in the lower GI and whey is absorbed at only 31% so if you're "taking" 30g of whey, your body is only taking in 9g. Genepro is digested in the upper GI which eliminates gluten, lactose and bowel sensitivity and absorbs at a rate of 94% which makes it 3 times more effective than any other protein on the planet (medical or open market). Flavorless and odorless and can be mixed instantly in any food or beverage (hot or cold) without changing the taste or consistency. Truly the most complex and advanced protein on the planet. Each 1pound container comes with 3 empty, re-useable travel pouches that make it super convenient to use anytime, anywhere and in anything.

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I miss using GENEPRO, I ran out and don't have access to it here. I bought Quest unflavored and it's disgusting, so is Syntrax matrix unflavored. I'm going to repurchase when I head back to the states, it mixes easily in my food (esp cottage cheese), and couldn't taste it. If you are going to buy unflavored, stick to Genepro.

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I went ahead and purchased a package of GENEPRO on Amazon yesterday morning. With the same day free Amazon Prime time shipping, it was delivered by 7pm. I was initially shocked how small the package was for $38. It holds one pound (30 servings.) For you visual types, this is about the same power volume you get in one container in unjury Protein powder. I was also questioning why they charged tax. Isn't this considered a food? Lol. Maybe it's so engineered they can't consider it a food any more ???? On the front of the package it states, "30G Protein* per 1 TBSP serving. Please note the asterisk. Below the asterisk states EQUIVALENT. I am not a scientist, but came across some reviews questioning what exactly this stuff is made out of. The package claims the product has not been evaluated by the FDA and isn't meant to diagnose, treat or cure any disease. I was unable to locate any independent research studies online backing up the company's claims, so the only information I have to go on regarding the products reliability is BP user reviews who claim their labs came back awesome. Still, I have to wonder, if this stuff is so awesome, why is it only available on the company website and on Amazon? Wouldn't GNC and gyms be crawling all over each other to stock up on this stuff? I personally found unflavored UNJURY disgusting... But there is peace of mind knowing it is medical quality protein used in hospitals. For comparison, a scoop of their product has 21 grams of protein. Taste and performance wise I will give this stuff a 10 out of 10. It is a fine powder and I can't taste it at all. I poured a scoop into my morning coffee and it mixed right in. Not a clump in site. Not one aftertaste. I took a sip to confirm before adding in my flavored creamer to be sure! I am likely to use it because it doesn't taste bad. I will continue to use it in my coffee for that reason. I have 3 unopened containers of unflavored Unjury in my cabinet one year later. That stuff clumps up in your coffee and leaves a horrible after taste. I ended up not eating/drinking whatever I added it to. I am 14 months post-op at goal and looking to add more protein as I want to add more muscle tone to my body. I've become kinda lax with the protein the last several months so looking for easy ways to increase it. I will let you know if this helps!

    2 weeks post missing food

Remember, fluids are the most important thing for us right now (I was sleeved 6/2), but there are good ways to get protein in without the shakes. Do you have any of the protein powders? I have two different powders: Isopure Zero Carb Vanilla - 25g protein per scoop, and GENEPRO tasteless powder, 30g protein per scoop. The Genepro is really spendy, so I use it sparingly - mostly using the Isopure. You can get them both through Amazon. Here are three of the things I've been eating: Super Milk Pudding: SF pudding (I like cheesecake flavor) make up with 2c skim milk and 2/3 c powdered skim milk. Makes 8 servings 1/4 c each. You can add a scoop of vanilla protein powder if you want to amp up the protein. Without the powder it's 3g of protein per 1/4 cup (which is a great amount, I've found). If I add the protein powder, it doubles the protein to 6g. Cream of Wheat or Cream of Rice: Cook cereal according to package directions. Dissolve 1 scoop protein powder in 1/4c milk. Stir into hot cereal. Mix in 1/8 t cinnamon and one MINI squeeze of Stevia (if that - I found it too sweet so next time I'm leaving out the Stevia altogether). This makes 2 servings 1/2 cup each. It slides right down and has 15g of protein in each of the 2 servings. Broth: Heat 1 c broth (homemade or canned low sodium) and mix in 1 scoop Genepro tasteless protein powder. 30g protein in the one cup. Anybody else have any good ideas / recipes for "full liquid" recipes???? I have 3 flavors of isopure. I also have muscle milk. I am on liquids only so no pudding or cream of wheat (thanks tho, they will come in handy next week). I have gotten in all my required protein and all my fluids by 6 PM. I was hoping that Protein Shakes would fill me up for an hour or so but my stomach seems to pass them on as if they are Water. May have to call dietician on Monday.

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

I've been using GENEPRO for several months now and absolutely love it! The package does say 30 gr Protein per scoop which is equivalent to one tablespoon. I also have heard some folks say this may be a physical impossibility as well. Here's what I do because the powder is literally tasteless and mixes into anything hot or cold. I mix a little scoop into my coffee in the morning, then one more into each meal during the day. Now if I were getting the full 30 gr of protein technically I would be eating 120 gr of protein each day. But often I cannot finish a cup of coffee or a meal... and I do think about the claim that it may not really be a full 30 gr of protein... so in the end of the day I estimate I probably eat around 60-90 gr of protein which is exactly where my doctor wants me. This is in addition to any other protein sources I might get during a day which isn't a lot because I am a vegetarian. I just had my 6 month follow-up visit yesterday and all my lab-work came back awesome, I feel great, My dr and nut are on board with my eating plan... so I will keep going. Good luck everyone!
