  1. Sorry if this is asking TMI but does the gas that you all have and talk about usually expel in burp form or do you pass it the other way a lot too? :embarassed: Just wondering what to expect.

    Question for the Ladies..

My period arrived two weeks late, on the day of surgery (Monday). It reared it's ugly head, but luckily, most nurses are so great, and really made me feel better about everything. I needed help changing my pads, and "victoria's secret" special undies, and getting cleaned up. But they were all so comforting and wonderful about it. I even had a few big messes *sorry- TMI i know!* But it was not bad. I just absolutely love nurses. I swear, without them the world would not go 'round!!
  3. K33 I hear you about wrapping your brain around the tiny meals......some days 3 bites are it.....and on those days I can be heard muttering something like "Are you kidding me? Seriously?!?" But it only takes a few seconds to shake it......the benefits of this surgery are totally worth it for me......I am happy with the weight loss, how I look, how I feel, the extra energy, not to mention the sex is great (TMI? sorry).......and hubby is happy, too.....the woman he married is back. I don't have any dietary restrictions....I make a crockpot meal each week, portion it out and freeze it---always have a variety of meals in the freezer in VSG sized portions to choose from, and the Protein is nice and moist.......I eat slow and my meals are tiny, but to reach my protein goals, I have to drink a Protein Drink for Breakfast. Good luck, HTH!

    Gross question but...

I take an anti-convulsant that is extended release and before the surgery it went all the way through, and I would see it on the other side...tmi. They switched me to non xr formula. Did they mention changing it once surgery started and have you never seen it go all the way before or only fter surgery?
  5. No answers, but I can tell you the exact same thing happened to me. Went to a Mexican restaurant, had the chicken Soup. It had a lot of stuff in there, but I only had about 8 tablespoons of the broth only, and it wasn't spicy. About two hours later, I had a complete blow-out (sorry for the TMI) and was thankful that I was very close to a bathroom when it hit. Frustrating! And makes me nervous about starting mushies in a couple of weeks.

    Diahrrea After Surgery?

My issue is that I have diarrhea after almost every meal. Is this normal? It is an odd yellow color (TMI, sorry). Not sure if I should be worried or not.
  7. Thanks Egor! I have always had curves (TMI alert - I had 'the girls' WAYYY before other females my age). The difference is now the waist is starting to curve IN not OUT. Skirts - I always have worn business suits with skirts. The difference will be that I will won't be wearing as many 'long-cover-a-multitude-of- thighs' ones, but rather shorter more form fitting ones. At least, this is the plan when I am closer to goal. Bathing suits -oh Hollyncharm, how I hate the bathing suit shopping. I always purchased mine on-line so that I never had to go into a store and have the post-humiliation melt-down in public. I am HOPING that as summer and my goal weight draw closer, my weight/shape will be more conducive to going into a store and trying one (or 10) on.

    Popcorn friend or foe?

I mourn the loss of popcorn. I just simply cannot eat it since being banded. I'm a glutton for punishment, so I "experimented" with popcorn three times before I came to terms that I cannot digest it any longer. My symptoms were terrible stomach cramps followed by a trip to the bathroom (I know, TMI) about 4 hours after I eat the popcorn. I went to the movies this past weekend (saw Julie and Julia with my mom). I was really feeling sad over not being able to have popcorn. I guess it's ok since movie theater popcorn isn't exactly the healthiest snack anyways.
  11. My morning coffee. I stopped for a while, but my doc let me add it back in. Probably TMI, but I have never in my life had constipation issues and I did after surgery. My morning coffee is the cure for that if you get my drift. Sorry for the TMI, but I doubt I'm the only one.

    Started my Preop Diet...

So interestingly enough, I've had migraines since I was 6 years old and this didn't even cross my mind before starting the preop diet (or even when considering wls). This may be TMI, but my migraines are triggered by a number of things but I can at least count on one every month with hormonal changes lol. If I were to get a migraine this month it would/should have coincided with day 3 of my preop diet. Shockingly I didn't even realize I didn't have one because I've been so focused on doing well on the diet. When you posted this I realized that this is the ABSOLUTE FIRST month I have NOT had a hormonal migraine. Now, my average cal consumption on the diet has been 700-900 (I promise you thats the lowest amount I have ever willingly consumed lol), and I have yet to have a migraine. I hope this gives you some comfort! And I've said it before and I'll say it again... if you're eating >100mg protein, physically you will most likely NOT feel hungry, mentally you will. You can do it!
  13. Most insurance now days requires a medically supervised diet. Generally it ranges anywhere from 3 months to a full year. My own was 6 months, but it also took an extra 2 month to schedule my surgery due to the fact that they were overbooked, so for me it was 8 months. Maybe your surgeon is just used to patients having a longer requirement and is just concerned that maybe you'll struggle with the dietary requirements and getting used to eating in a new way? But, honestly? Although I DID diet before my surgery I don't eat the same way as I did now during that time. I took my weight loss phase of my surgery to learn how to eat healthier and how to do it in a sustainable way since this is not a 'diet' but rather a life change. You have to learn to eat in a healthier way for the rest of your life, but you want to do it sustainably. I had to learn how to work in foods that I loved, but do it in moderation. Because I do not want to be a statistic in weight loss surgery failure. I do NOT want to gain my weight back! Hell, I cry if I'm up 1 pounds over what I consider my 'comfort range' (the top of my comfort range is 191. My secondary maintenance weight range is 186-191. I say secondary because my original maintenance range for an entire year was 179-183, but in your second year leading up to your third year post op you gain some weight back. It's normal. It sucks and I had massive issues with it which is probably part of what is causing my chronic anxiety, but I'm allowing myself to not freak out as long as my weight doesn't go over 191 at the heaviest. I'm 189 today. And sorry if that's TMI. I'm an aspie so sometimes I overshare what others see as pointless info.). Anyway, you are the one who knows yourself best and if you feel that you can be successful in three months then go for it! Also, welcome to the forums and I wish you the best on your weight loss journey! It's a difficult one, but incredibly fulfilling! 😊

    Spicy food

I am probably an exception but I can no longer eat spicey foods. I can't even tolerate very much black pepper. I can take a couple of bites and it goes to burning my stomach and then my stomach starts all of it's foaming and everything comes up...TMI!! Then my stomach is irritated for several days and I cannot eat anything. I was always a big spicey eater before the surgery.....I cannot even tolerate barbeque sauce with the least amount of punch to it.

    Questions for post ops...

As Bufflehead mentioned, there are a lot of different programs and plans - so what's outlawed by one doc might be perfectly fine for another. My surgeon's rules are very lenient compared to many I've seen mentioned on this site. In fact, I was given ibuprofen while still in the hospital, after my surgery! My doc has no issues with it at all. Concerning Protein, I am a very picky person and what some people say tastes good or great usually tastes terrible to me. I got a bunch of sample packs and finally found just 2 powders that I could stand. I also got the Premier Protein ready-to-drink ones from costco and those are saving my life. In fact, I have a bunch of powder and samples that I will never use because the Premier is all I need. I'm also at my 4th week post-op (tomorrow! time flies) and my recovery has been like clockwork. I had very little pain, no gas pains, haven't puked yet (but it's been close), and while I thought I'd lose my freakin' mind during the 2 weeks of liquids only after surgery, I did actually survive!!! LOL I haven't had any emotional issues, but it's early still for me. What I'm finding is that now that I'm allowed purees/mushies, I am eating more carbs. This is something I need to control. It's also a balancing act, because I am still struggling to get in 8 glasses (minimum) of Water per day - not because I have trouble drinking, but because I just forget or don't feel like drinking. On an empty stomach I can gulp water - it's very surprising. My next steps for week 4 and beyond are to track my water much closer, since the weight isn't magically falling off and I can tell I'm dehydrated. Plus, I will continue to use My Fitness Pal to track all foods, so that I can keep a watch on those carbs. Finally, I have been having a real issue with BMs. I will suddenly realize that it's been 2 days, and so then I drink a dose of Milk of Magnesia -- X number of hours later, I experience the pain of not being regular. It is really no fun. I am planning to get on a daily dose of some sort of OTC med for this, because I hate Milk of Magnesia!!! But, I hate constipation more. (There's just no such thing as TMI on this site, FYI ) I hope some of this helps. This surgery has been my best decision ever ( btw, less than 10 people are aware that I had surgery because it's my health and my decision and I don't want comments/feedback/scrutiny), and I wish I could have done this 10 years ago. Good luck to you!
  16. Atkins Advantage taste pretty good. I also drank the Isopure pre-mixed clear drinks after surgery and they were not bad . . . not good, but not bad either. Watch your caffeine intake if you ingest a lot now. It may give you headaches when you try to stop. I take a CVS brand called Spectravite. They are reasonably priced adult orange flavored chewables. I like them because they actually taste good. Normal Vitamins cause me to burp a wierd taste sometimes, sorry if it is TMI. Since they are chewable, they are super easy to ingest as well.
  17. I'm really not kidding or exaggerating.. This is super tmi.. Turn around now if you're easily grossed out! Sooooo.. Two issues. One is for my fellow lady sleevers... I got sleeved Monday (so I'm 6 days post OP). I started my period Wednesday, 3 weeks early (I'm on birth control to have it once every 3 months). I can't remember the last time I bled this bad. I mean, it's REALLY heavy. Is this normal? Second TMI question... I can't stop pooping! Every hour-ish I'm running to the potty. I have no idea why! I'm on a liquid diet! And it's a very liquidy #2, but still.. I'm only 6 days post op.. It's REALLY hard for me to turn the necessary ways in order to wipe my bum.. Especially 10 times a day. Any insight or advice?

    Dumping

Hello, I'm not sure what "dumping" is but after reading this forum and what everyone has described I am suffering from the aftermath of it right now. Last night I pureed some shredded chicken which I have been eating for the past few days, but last night I added some fat free sour cream just to change it up a bit. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! Not even 10 mins later I was balled up in fetal position sweating, then about 5 mins later I was in the bathroom with it (TMI) coming out of both ends. This morning I'm still sick and feel queasy, so today I will just have my Greek yogurt and add my unflavored Protein to it. I never want to eat sour cream EVER AGAIN!!! This is really an unpleasant feeling.

    TOP 3 THINGS...

    1) no longer have to cross my legs when I sneeze or cough! 2) I can have sex in any position instead of just doggy. 3) I get hit on again by men ( sometimes even women ) Sorry for tmi....but it's the truth!

    Trouble with bowel movements

My rny was the 18th. Not just constipation but STUCK. Sorry. Tmi. I just bought some Ready Fiber today and drank miralax last night. I bought a laxative suppositiry and an enema if none of this works. I hope it works. Gross on the latter two. Lol I feel your pain.
  21. @@amazon Good for you! What is an extended mini thigh lift? Lol, I had the mini thigh lift, which is the groin incision one and I thought the extended one was the one that went down to your knee, so have they figured out a way to extend it without going all the way to your knee? Of the plastics that I have had, the thigh lift is probably the one that gave me the least awesome results because I didn't want the scar to go to my knee. In hindsight, I'm still not sure if I made the right choice on having that version done or not, but after almost a year of recovery from three plastics procedures, I am so totally over them for awhile. I also had the back of the 360 done and this with my thigh lift was probably my worst procedure, if mostly because it was the one I ended up having the most annoying complications. The first day I was laying on my couch (which thankfully was covered in those adult puppy pad bed wetting things since I learned from past experience incisions leak) and I got up and it look like someone had been murdered. My entire back incision line was still bleeding. Then the midline separated, leaving my a nice gap in the middle of my back which had to be closed twice, then I got a whopping infection in the middle of scar on one side of my butt, which took 6 months to heal and left me with a hole that literally I could fit most of my hand into. Now it's just a scar and it looks like I got shot in the butt, lol. So, I'm telling you all of this because it was all worth it. I would still get the procedure again even if I knew the disaster it was going to end up being for 6 months. The misery was worth it. Oh and one more thing, have you read up on care for the thigh incisions? The trick to keeping those from getting infected is to keep them clean and dry. You only have to do it for about 2-3 weeks, but everytime I went to the bathroom I cleaned all of the incision line with wipes, a clean wet towel, and then I used a blow dryer on the cold setting on top of that. Truly gross sounding so apologies if that's TMI, but my incisions healed perfectly. Good luck!

When Was Your First Bm Post Op?

Well here's some TMI.....day 7 and it was very painful and bloody and then after that it's been soft, a little runs but not bad. When I went in for my post op with Dr. he asked about BM and before I could even tell him he said "a little consipated? and was there blood"....apparently this is "normal". Anyway, all is fine and no more pain, it was only that 1 time.

When Was Your First Bm Post Op?

I did not go #2 for 11-12 days post-op. Dr said not to worry, but if I was concerned take 1 low dose stool softener every other day or fiber supplement until it happened. However (tmi) that first one I would say was the closest I could come to giving birth. I almost cried, and when I saw it, was not really surprised since it was almost 2 weeks of number 2 all at once. Now, if I haven't went for 2 days, I start the low dose softener, and all s well.
  24. I wanted to share my first month experience! The good, bad and TMI also!! All in all my recovery was very easy. No nausea or vomiting. I am able to eat most things by now (still haven't introduced beef or raw veggies). I don't crave many things. I am surprised at how much I can eat but still not eating much in a day. Sometimes I can eat more than others, don't really know why. When you eat too much you will know and be miserable! Walk it out! I am getting down over 100 grams of Protein per day, how you say? I add an extra scoop of unflavored Protein powder to my Advocare Protein Drink so I am getting 54 grams in 1 shake and I am drinking 2 of those per day most days. I am walking a lot! Get a Fitbit, it really helps you get those steps in per day! I am off on Fridays and walked 7 miles that day-not all at once but there were 90 active minutes! I still cannot lift without feeling some strain so I don't do it yet! My weight was stalled for 2.5 weeks (very frustrating for a new sleever) but one morning I woke up and 5 pounds gone just like that and now a couple of more! I have not experienced dumping but I will say what I experience is more like a cleansing! There is a sense of urgency but plenty of time to find a bathroom! It is usually very welcome because it make the bloating go away! I wake up with a flat stomach (compared to what it was) but once I eat or drink anything my stomach does bloat. I am urinating so much less (which is nice) and urine is clear so I know I am still getting plenty of fluids! I have saved a lot of money not going out to eat anymore. Some of my incisions are still open but healing. I have not experienced in excessive hair loss. My first period out after surgery was long and heavy, doctor said that was normal. I have lost 20 lbs yet no one has said anything about it yet except my husband! Could be because I am still wearing the same clothes! I have a lot more energy!! The ugly is that I have been really moody, my family can attest! I don't know if this is from the changes or the building a house and current house in disarray and long work hours! Either way, my family has been very patient and I hope it goes away!! Very pleased that I did this, wish I would have done it sooner!
