Post Op Anxiety or Depression
Charlie75 replied to kcmonkmi6912's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is. I'm 8 weeks post op. Watching the WT loss and the life changes that come with it make the other stuff not so bad. HW: 265 SW: 250 CW: 212 -
Somethings off, can anyone help??
Sosewsue61 replied to Ashley Dee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Get your PCP to refer you for an endoscopy to check for GERD damage, or just put you on medication for it and see if that helps. PCP can also refer you to Nutritionist. Go back to basics, maybe eliminate dairy and all wheat for a couple weeks. What have you tried so far? Do you track your food? -
feel sluggish..anyone else

Applebtmgrl77 - I agree, after watching the movie "Super Size Me" I began to think the same way. There are 32 ingredients in a chicken McNugget. 32! They admitted that the more processed a food is, the lower the nutrition and it becomes less healthy to eat. I can only imagine what they do to the Big Macs to make'em taste so good. If you haven't heard about the movie, the star went on a 30 day diet, eating exclusively McDonalds' food for every meal. At the start, he went to 3 doctors for a baseline reading and their expectations of what would happen to him. They figured he'd gain weight and have higher cholesterol levels. But by the last week, they were telling him to stop eating fast food - it was destroying his body. Check out reviews, it was a great movie and will really open your eyes to the stuff they put into fast food. http://goo.gl/n8BPk -
Able to drink and eat like normal?

Hi, my name is Kim Vance. I was banded on December 1st, 2009. Dr. Holloway did my surgery and I would recomended him to anyone. So far I have lost 30lbs and counting. I see Dr. Holloway or Dot every 2 weeks, just to chart my progress.

Welcome to the forum Chris and congratulations on your surgery! The first week or two following the surgery can be challenging but I think you'll be surprised at how quickly the pain resolves itself and when you see those pounds melting away - everything else will become nothing more than a distant memory! You're gonna love the new you!!
-
You're not alone! We must have been banded on the same day. I thought my hubby might go on a supportive diet with me during the fasting, but if anything he's bringing pizza and fast food into the house more because I'm not cooking. He's a great guy, but he has no idea how close I've come to strangling him these past two weeks. :-) Anyways, the thing keeping me going is definitely the scale, even though most of it is probably Water. I try to make sure I'm full with a Protein shake when my family is eating, and I just keep counting down the days to mushies. I keep telling myself that soon this will be a distant memory, and it will, so hang in there. We can do it!!

Hi kim Welcome how are you feeling? Hopefully you well have some restriction here in the immeditate future. They usually say you know for sure by 2 weeks have you talked with Paula yet? She is real good at doing my fills has never missed so far and is usually so fast I do not have time to worry about the needle I have met Steve but I really prefer Paula I am justso use to her. I did go to the Party for a bit Tuesday night it was quite nice but I had to leave early since it is a work night. All the staff was there and Dr. J as well as the rest of the staff. Wish I could have stayed longer. Well back to work for me

I'll be in Monterrey a week after your surgery getting my first fill. I have a doctor here who will do fills for me but I'm pretty nervous and I kind of want my first fill to be with Dr. Rumbaut. I understand from others here on LBT that it's no big deal and I'm sure they're right but I'm just the nervous type! LOL That's funny considering I went and had surgery in Mexico - very out of character for me. I'm glad I did it though - Dr. Rumbaut is a LapBand genius and the care I recieved while in Monterrey could not be surpassed anywhere in the U.S. From the time I got off the plane to the time I got back on the plane it couldn't have gone more "by the book". While you're at the hotel, spend some time in the lobby. You'll see lots of people coming and going and if you make eye contact you'll meet people having lapband surgery with Dr. Rumbaut! I met several women that way and I'm in contact with 3 of them still who all had surgery on the same day as I did! I think Dr. Rumbaut did 6 surgeries on that day and 4 of us have stayed in contact with each other! Across the parking lot from the hotel there is a grocery store/mini shopping mall. Just as you leave the hotel parking lot into the mall parking there is a restaurant called Sanbourn's. Their Pollo Especial (chicken with rice in broth) is excellent for pre-op and post op, is very inexpensive and, if you want, they'll deliver right to your hotel room. The hardest part for me was the language barrier and if you're in the restaurant you can just point at the picture (they have menus in english as well as spanish) and if you're ordering from your hotel room, the hotel front desk staff is very friendly and will call and order for you if you like. Sanbourn's will even charge the cost to your hotel bill making it that much easier. Hint: squeeze the lime into your Pollo Especial - it gives it a nice citrus zing! Best wishes for a happy banding experience.

How long did it take for your drain opening to heal?
Sajijoma replied to Kooky1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a drain for a week I think, after my surgery and when I finally got it out it took forever for the drain hole to completely close. My surgeon told me to undo the dressing and when I showered to let the water run down it which burned like holy heck btw, and to then pat it dry and apply neosporin and cover with a bandage til it scabbed over. It seems like it took probably 2-3wks before it wasn't leaking any blood at all to where I didn't need to put a bandage over it. -
My dr said no hot tub for the first week to 10 days after surgery so I'm guessing after that it would be fine. I'm sure if you are healed from your surgery the hot tub would be fine.

How long before you were in bandster hell?
ParrotheadCathy replied to ALuv82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was there at like day 8 -- and really, as I've gotten fills, it has slowly improved. Got my 4th fill yesterday and if this isn't my sweet spot, it's VERY CLOSE. Just have to wait and see if the restriction lasts longer than a week. bear in mind, though, that the only Fluid in my band after surgery was .6cc which was left in when the doctor drained the band after testing it before he put it in place. That's pretty much the same as nothing. I now have 5.6ccs and this is the first time after a fill that I saw the need for liquids the rest of the day. Heck, I think I pretty much want liquids today! I've been kinda stuck at 55 pounds gone but I'm expecting to break that when I get on the scale next. How much "prep" is a small amount? Do you know how much is in your band? I've read people's comments here that they have 5ccs post-op and some even had to get an unfill when they were on the liquid post-op diet. -
How long was your recovery?

Does Anyone Know What My Pre Op Steps Will Be As A Self Pay??
2012 replied to moneil131's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are welcome and you will be fine. I was a nervous wreck up to the time of surgery, I wanted it bad enough, hence self pay (I'm not rich or anything, he he), but it will all work out. Good luck!! Also, when you meet with a nutritionist, ask them if they have a manual to follow, they forgot to give me mine and the surgery staff asked me about it right after surgery, so I called and got it the following week, it had all kinds of information about what to do before the day of surgery, like no deodorant, well I was wearing deodorant because I had no clue. -
I'm 5 weeks post op. I look at food and can't eat anything. I'm getting about half of my protein and fluids but feel to full to drink more. Currently my source of protein is liquid premiere protein. I tried an egg today and ate about 1/8 of it. I go back to work tomorrow and don't see how I can do it as weak as I am. I long for the days of spaghetti or pizza. Will that ever happen again?

How long til I can drive?
lauraellen80 replied to zabbakaye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon had no driving restrictions, other than that I was no longer taking the prescription pain meds. I don't think I drove for 2 weeks, though, simply because I was off work and didn't need to. I wouldn't recommend driving on a long road trip for a few weeks, until your incisions have healed up some, if you can help it. I did a 3-hour drive to the shore about 3 weeks after surgery, and it was a bit uncomfortable. It's not going to hurt anything, per se, but it's uncomfortable. I take a Centrum adult chewable multivitamin every evening, and a Bariatric Advantage 500 mg chewable calcium citrate in the morning. Technically, I should do two of the calcium supplements, but I had concerns about increased risk of heart disease linked to calcium supplements (my dad has heart failure and recently underwent a triple bypass)--I talked it over with my surgeon, and while he thinks the risk of heart disease is very low, he also thinks that the benefit of calcium supplements for sleeve patients is negligible, and my labs are good, so he OK'ed me just taking one a day. Hi. I am almost 3 weeks post op (sleeve) I am having a very hard time getting my vitamins in. What kind is everyone taking? I'm currently on Baritric Fusion, 1 chewable 4xs a day. I would rather have one I can swallow. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Newbie with the jitters
dolphin_girl replied to dewbel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, my op is May 26th. I have only told my parents. I have had abdominal issues before and also removed my gall bladder, so people can think what they want. I've had to tell my financial advisor coz he sorts my medical insurance out and I did not get approved for the op and I'm pleading my case again this week. If not I will have to pay for it by myself. I want to tell my best friend but not sure when. I'm nervous. I want to stay in my pumped up, positive zone because I know that this will be life changing for me. Good luck. -
Sometimes food won't go down, immediately comes back up.
sportsmama13 replied to Dreamagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had this happen a few times as well. Each time it is due to eating too quickly or not chewing the food enough. I have had it happen with chicken and eggs. I am only 7 weeks post op and have to remember that slow and steady wins the race I either throw it back up or I have also taken papaya enzymes. They will help to digest the food and avoid the throwing up part. -
I had RNY Surgery on November 16, 2016. HW 248 SW 215 CW 168 Total Loss: 80 Lbs. Thanks to everyone here for all their help.

Hey Ready. I just sent up a little prayer for you. I feel the same way. My band date is 1 week from today, March 4th. I'm doing this for my health first and foremost....if better looks come along with it then so be it...haha. I've been overweight all my life and I've acceped it. But I want to live a healthier life the next 30 years over what I've lived these past 30 years. From what I understand and heard, everyone is nervous and scared with all the information our bariatric programs drilled in our heads. I'm trying to look beyond the actual surgery. Look forward to losing the weight, feeling better than you've felt in years, shopping for new clothes...etc. That's what keeps me going right now. Good luck tomorrow and for the rest of your journey.

Larae, I've been through it too. My problem is sudden closing up so I can barely tolerate liquids. I had a 3 week wonderful fill & boom, total restriction. I've been unfilled 2X, once totally. Now Dr. Martinez has prescribed Reglan, he said he noticed that the liquid rushes down too fast when he's done fluoro, so I'm taking it nice & slow, had .3cc's added today, now at 1.3. This pretty much sucks, but I'm taking it REAL slow. And yes, I did gain a little weight. But that was my fault, I figured no restriction, poor me, and let's eat whatever! I hope it works out for you, and for me too!

More of an update since Sept. I still have been suffering with heartburn. I finally got into my surgeon (not sure why it took so long this time) Anyway he did take a look under fluro this time and he thinks I may have a prolapse stomach. He put me on Prevacid solutabs and wants to see me again in 2 weeks. After the Holidays. It is looking like another trip into the OR to fix this. I have had the band for almost a year now, but trouble with it for the past 5-6 months. I am half tempted to tell him while he is in there to just do by-pass (which I said I would never do) Well never say never-I guess I am a little fustrated and needed to vent. I can't afford another suregery, time off of work. But I hate having heartburn too!

Hi all, I am one month post op and have gone from 266lbs to 245lbs. Just transitioned to soft food 8 days ago and am at a complete stall. Only consuming 600 calories per day and getting almost all of my water in. Trying not to get frustrated as I have another 110 lbs to lose... Is this normal?

Hey I too have twins. They r three and my reason too. I developed some medical issues while pregnant with them and thought I wasn't even going to be around for them, that scared me. Since then I've been trying all I can and then I found out some coworkers had WLS done and I was like this may be an option. After extensive research I'm very comfortable and confident with this option. This forum is amazing too. I don't post as often as I'd like, but just reading others comments are wonderful. I wish u luck and congrats in the twins. They can be such a handful, but can't imagine it any other way
