Hey all! What a fantastic job y'all have done!!!!!!! I was feeling pretty good about my 42 pounds, but wow! y'all are awsome. I had a lot of pb'ing on my 2nd fill, I'm still learning about smaller bites, (the hard way). I think I also have that first bite syndrome as well. I'm conquering it, and once I do, I think I'll be ready for a 3rd fill. I've been doing lots of exercising, weights, and walking and jogging. I do about 4-5 miles a day, 5-6 days. Hopefully that will keep my weight loss going. My kids have noticed, no comments from folks at work, I haven't seen my parents, they're out-of-state, but I keep in touch with my mom on the phone and she knows about my progress, can't wait for her to see me. No one else, nothing, zilch. Oh well, I'll just keep plugging. NSV, out of 22-24 and into 14's, and none of my bra's fit. Everyone keep of the good work! Y'all are such an inspiration!

We got to Wednesday already, how did that happen:confused: ? I was more than surprised to see I'd dropped 2lbs this week. I guess the treadmill doesn much more of a job than swimming as a general rule..well for me anyway but am still gonna go to my pool cos it makes a change. I went for a walk outside today and enjoyed it although it was very hot. Then later I had an NSV...Jordan always does the shopping when I do my lessons because I could never cope with standing so long...my back would be killing me 10mins in. Today he needed to go see his kids and so I said drop me off at the supermarket and I'll see how I get on. I did the lot. Shopped, did the check out and packed the bags. Then I wandered around the little stores around the edge of the supermarket and in the bag store a new bag just jumped into my trolley and refused to leave...what could I do except buy it???????????????????????? Jordan despairs...he said was I gonna do the shopping every week now- until I asked if I could visit the stores too every week  :guess  That's all..see ya next time in Ali's wonderful world of complete and utter nonsense and ramblings...great place to visit but get out while you can!

Can only hope to lose 65% of excess weight???
Jachut replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hmmm, I agree its an average which means many lose more, many lose less. I find it interesting that I've gotten to about that level of weight loss - 65% and the weight loss now is very slow, every kilogram is really hard won and takes a lot of work to achieve. But it is ENTIRELY within my control too, its harder because I no longer have that flush of initial enthusiasm and am not working as hard as I was and its also harder because you dont lose weight as easily when you have less to lose. What I am enjoying however is that I can work my butt off to lose 3kg now and I will be rewarded with lots of NSV's - 3 kg makes a big difference on my body now. Whereas I had to lose 15kg initially to go down a clothing size. If I never lost anymore weight Id consider this operation a resounding success though. I'm no longer obese (just overweight), I can shop in any store I please, I run regularly, I swim, I go to the gym, I'm fit and healthy, my ankle issues have largely resolved. The rest of the weight loss for me is purely cosmetic. I've introduced fitness as a daily part of my life, I am no longer staring down the barrell of becomeing soft, doughy and middle aged (my biggest fear I think, getting old and less mobile). My main motivation to lose the rest is purely to look better and to improve my running performance. So 65% aint so bad, but I definitely want to be in the category of those who lose 100% and its entirely within my control to do so. There's an awful lot of people who have surgery and arent compliant - dont have fills, dont change their eating habits sufficiently and many who dont exercise, there's no reason to accept falling into that category if you dont want to. -
Okay so nothing makes you feel better when your down in the dumps than someone noticing your weight loss. Whats surprising is WHO noticed and said something! We live in a small town, and we go to this one place 'During the school year" alot to have lunch together hang out you hubby/wife things lol Anyhow, Today we walked in (first day of school) The waitress came out to greet us and squealed with glee and talked about how great I looked and how much weight I lost etc all the way til we were seated! I mean it was like she was more excited about it than me! LOL I felt really great, I feel really great! Just goes to show even when you don't think your doing so well, others DO notice! Hugs, Nana~

Pork chops- good idea!! Glad to hear you are no longer stress tight I agree poodles- you are too tight!! drinking your calories is no way to live! Of course I am not the best either, I still struggle with my sugar addiction. and its a daily struggle - I have decided that Ice Cream is in fact evil. I have great news to share- I RAN last night for the first time in over 2 years. It was not pretty but I managed to go over a mile!! this is a huge NSV for me. I was a runner before I got MO and I was hoping to get back there one day. Also on the Christmas challenge- can someone explain the "code" so I can updated my signature?

One of the NSVs that I can't wait to have will be going to Carowinds and being able to ride what I want to! Of course, there are things I could ride the last time I was there. I rode Rip Roarin' Rapids, the log flume, bumper cars, carousel, and I could ride the Carolina Cyclone if I sat in the front car. There were a few others, but not enough for me. That was the last time I went and that was several years ago. I want to be able to ride Top Gun and the Borg Assimilater! Less than a month till my appointment with Dr. B! I can't wait!

I am 12 days out now ( 11 from the second surgery) and I fel pretty back to normal....except for the tired stuff. I have increased my protien to 64 gms per day but am still draggin most days. Being back to work has kept me distracted but I would rather lay on the couch! I have lost 11 pounds since surgery.I am taking between 600 and 900 calories a day but the scale has now stalled. Not budging! Which is sort of a bummer. Going for my post op tomorrow so maybe the nutritionist will have a suggestion and maybe they will get me get off these liquids! I did have a small NSV which was so fun. I was watching tv and felt something on my wrist. I thought it was a bug. When I looked over to brush it off it was my watch ...it had fallen down my arm from my wrist! Just waiting for my pants to fall off now!! Good luck to all the banders having surgery this week. You are in my prayers!

Another NSV in my Levi's! Today I wore my new Levi's to hairdresser. I was there to get my daughter and her friend's hair cut and highlighted. There was a man who came in to measure the windows for tinting. After I paid and we all went to the car, my daughter's friend said "Bobby (DH) better watch out, that guy sure was checking you out." I haven't been "checked out" in a very long time!

Texas Princess....NSV is "Non-Scale Victory".. .. for example, I'm really looking forward to being able to cross my legs at the knees again. That will be a big red letter day for me. It's fun to be able to look forward to or celebrate the non-scale victories with people who "get it". (that would be us, lol) Denise...Welcome to the August Bandsters. Only SEVEN days to go. Woohooo.

Good job Diva Girl. What does NSV stand for?

I am 6 months into my journey and i can definately say this would have been a lot harder if not for all I have learned from this forum. Who knew what a PB was????!!! When I finally had one i knew what it was and did not panic - swore a bit - but no panic! I have learned that no matter how different we all are, we all have had some of the same experiences and it is nice to know that someone else is experiencing the same things as you. I have lost a bit of hair, plateaued, PB'd, have trouble sometimes with chicken, have had some of the same ( and different ) NSV's ( have i told you about the pr of capris I bought in Apr and could not pull over my butt that I am wearing to work today?!:clap2: ) and try to stick to 1200 calories a day using Fitday ( which I learned of here) when I remember. So, consider this a personal thank you to everyone for paving the way for everyone by sharing your experiences! Gayle

I'm down 20 inches (27 if you double losses for arms & legs) now! For the first time in years, I weigh less than my dear lean long legged husband! :clap2: I'm going to post before and current pictures later today!

BTW, all... I've got a new NSV. I've gotten two... count'em... two film acting gigs recently, outside of the Farragut stuff! And... I have 4 more auditions coming up in the next two weeks! It is all independent or short film stuff (i.e. no-pay), but will allow me to build up a demo reel to go after paying stuff, and so far, it has all been speaking parts, and leads. I NEVER would have had the confidence to do this last year at 371lbs, and besides, not too many casting calls for huge guys out there... not for good roles, anyway! -
Good luck to those being banded! We're here for you when you get back. Let us know how it went! I'm a week and a half out now. 11 days!!! I feel really good. My incisions are healing nicely for the most part. One is a little bit infected but I'm taking care of it. I'm still eating pretty small amounts. I'm still fighting with head hunger though and wantng to chew something! AHHHH! But I'll be ok. I can sleep on my stomach already with no problems and I haven't used any pain meds or tylenol since three days after surgery. Like I had said.. I'm feeling good. I did have my first NSV on Saturday when I tried on a pair of jean capri's I couldn't fit anymore and they fit me perfect. Not tight at all! Yay!!!!! I'm still waiting for my scale to arrive so I can see how much I've lost. I'm so happy we're all getting banded. The month is halfway over!!!!

That's the best NSV of all. Best wishes with the rest of your journey.
