Oh, great NSV - my wedding band and engagement ring no longer fits me. It falls off when I lower my hand. Also, I got in touch with a long lost buddy from myspace. I have a wedding to attend in Puerto Rico next month. I need to get down another 20lbs and I will.

Do you ever just get weary?

Right on, Mary! :clap2: I have had days when I sigh and feel sorry for myself because I can't go drown my sorrows in that big juicy burger and fries that I just know Ronald McDonald is holding out to me with a big smile. But then, I think about what Mary just said and I remember how sick I would feel afterwards. Not just physically sick, but emotionally sick. It was after I finished stuffing myself with the "comfort" food (and trust me, I fully believed it was my comfort) I often spent an hour or two mentally bashing myself for being so gross and fat and weak for doing it yet again. So, yeah, it does get a bit old at times, but the trade off is worth the down days. And ya know what? It's ok to whine. We all have our days of whining and moaning, but thank goodness they are outnumbered by the days of rejoicing the NSV's we experience. Hairagain - Grats on that 32 pound loss!! How are ya feeling today? Any better? Need a hug? Try focusing on the victories. The bennies of your weight loss. I'm sure there are many. And remember, this too shall pass!

Hey Mary, congratulations on your nsv! I had one too sort of, or at least my husband pointed it out to me. My mom (who doesn't know ive had surgery) said that I looked really pretty one evening when she had us over for dinner. Later my husband was like 'babe youre really starting to look great! Did you hear your mom going on and on about it?' And I was like completely oblivious.. Then he goes 'you know when she was talking about your hair and everything' And then I go what does that have to do with losing weight?? He goes 'People don't necessarily notice your size but they notice YOU when your losing weight.' Also my husband said to me that night that I looked hot, lol I didn't even know what he was really saying and I go 'I'm not warm, I feel fine' Then he goes .. NO I mean you look HOT! lol I love my husband. He's losing weight along with me and really happy about it too .

Welcome back Kari!! Missed our morning chats!! I had a nsv today (nonscale victory). Went to a friends house (haven't seen her in a couple weeks or so) and she told me "you are shrinking"..."I can see that you are losing".....Anybody out there have some nsv's to share? Baylor mom: I chose lapband as I felt it to be a safer surgery plus i ended up paying for it myself. my husband wouldn't have wanted me to have the gastric bypass and I agreed with him. KMO: Missed you on here!! Glad to see your posts!! Where is Lizzilo?

wow, Paul... new avatar looks great! Well guys... great NSV's this weekend! My hubby's cousins saw me for the first time since surgery and they were just full of compliments. Huge ego boost! I went and saw the Bellamy Brothers and they rocked! I looked good that night too!!! I am wearing a size 12L Levis right now and I don't know that I have ever worn that size in my life! I think it is possible that I might one day fit into an 8!!!
  9. A few short weeks ago my goal was to finally weigh under 300 lbs......now it seems like I am really making progress. Another week or so and I will weigh 280 "something" probably for the first time in 6 or 7 years. What strikes me as odd....is so far it has been easy....at least the diet part of it. I rarely have cravings, I have only "cheated" once with a Dominoes pizza and I don't struggle with that part. I think it's all your mindset...at least it is for me. Once I finally (thank god) made the decision that I was fed up with being fat and making excuses.....it's been an easy road since then. I hope that it continues....and the NSV keep piling up. :nervous

Happy Monday all  I'm down to 222 so still making some progress. Paul. Dude, sorry you are feeling so crappy, I can't even imagine what it's like. You have to remember something though, from what I understand you have spent a lot of time at the gym. If that's accurate don't forget that your muscles are going to demand an increase in calories to support that new structure. Your NSV's should be the focus now that you are so clost to goal. You are doing incredibly well and look like a different person. I'm getting down to the weight level where I can't reasonably expect too much weight loss and will need to do my re-sizing at the gym. One other thing. You MUST have some spare skin (if not I'm going to find you and kick your ass). Skin isn't light and thats going to affect your "projected" goal weight (if you use BMI or anything similar). Just a tummy tuck alone could drop 5 or 10 pounds. I've been giving this some thought myself, and I have to accept that even though my shirt size is now "XL" or even "L" (down from 4XL), my skin size is definately sticking at 2XL (for now). Good luck folks, may the "fill" be with you.
  11. In answering this same question, someone who had GBS told me recently that they say "No I can't eat that. It gives me a reaction"....and of course I said..."Yeah, the reaction is that it makes me fat". I like the "No...I'm good" phrase. It's dismissing - probably stops the pushing - but it's nice. I like that one and will use it. Thnx. I've told everyone that I'm on a "doctor supervised liquid diet" for six weeks. It's not like that they don't know I'm overweight. I don't know what excuse I'll use for the mushies but I'll come up with something. I've watched my (as Jack says) "normo" friends and they actually eat in pea sized bites and unbelievably small portions (like 3 ounces of Protein...I mean really!). They talk during dinner and push their food around their plate. Here's a big bonus...no more spilled food down the front of you! What a great NSV....it's almost impossible to spill food if you're not shoveling it in! (which I'm sure you never did, but it was a pretty regular thing with me) Good luck to you.

My weight's started coming off again...yippee! I just may have beat the depo plateau! I feel like I've climbed out of the black pit to find a beautiful rainbow... OK, that may be overly dramatic but that's how I feel. I also have a BMI NSV! It's below 32 for the first time in a zillion years.... Plus I'm 5 pounds away from the September Challenge goal. :peace: This is a great WLS day...and I intend to start it by toasting with my morning Protein shake to all of us on this journey together and give thanks for everyone's support.

  15. PB'ing (Productive Burping) When you burp and junk comes with it. NSV (Non Scale Victory) A weightloss success that didn't directly involve the scale.) LBT (Lap Band Talk) This site. VGB (?) I think it stands for another surgery. TOM (Time Of the Month) The monthly visit from aunt Flo. Ha Ha. I hope that helps! Yeah, all the abbreviations can sometimes take awhile to figure out!
  16. I had a NSV at our back to school meetings! Our department met in one of the teachers classrooms to discuss the upcoming school year. Well, in the years past I always looked for the nearest chair to sit at and always hated it when there were no chairs, only desks! To sit in a desk was a nightmare and could be embarrasing from time to time. The bigger my belly got, the more uncomfortable I was! Well today.........I went for the desk and had NO PROBLEM with room to spare!!!!!! I chuckled to myself and I couldn't believe how something so minor felt so good!! Thanks for letting me share!!!!!!!! :clap2:

Jana, That is so great! It am sure it is so nice to get compliments from people who don't know about your surgery. Just to make you feel a bit better, My sponsor told me that people didn't notice that she had been losing weight until she had lost over 70 lbs. Grats on your NSV!!!!!!!!

    Costco NSV!

I haven't been able to buy clothes at Costco for years, and I just hated it. Today, I found a white summer skirt that fits just right - maybe even a little loose, but summer's nearly over! And I got a velour top and pants for this fall. I could try the top on in the store and it just fit, but the pants are too big. I'm going to have to return them for a smaller size! NSV rules!

  24. I have a couple of NSV's to report and something that happened to me that is surely a direct result of reading posts on LBT... When we were on vacation, there were times when we all wanted to do different things (we were with my in-laws). So one afternoon hubby agreed to drop me off in Lagana (We were in Zakynthos Greece) and take his parents to view some small churches they wanted to see. He gave me an hour and a half and left me with the reassurance that there were plenty of cafes and I could rest whenever I needed to...from the good old days when a trip out was a military campaign..where can we park? where will I be able to sit...will I have to stand for more than a couple of minutes?... I set off criss-crossing the road and browsing the shops. It was a hot afternoon and I thought I'd been going about 20mins and I'd have a break. Then I checked my watch...I'd been up and about for an hour and twenty mins and hadn't noticed. No back pain, no shoulder aches. I felt fine and even better when I realised what I had done...yay for the treadmill! 2nd NSV was yesterday. For the first time in years I did the supermarket shop myself. Wandered around for over an hour, got stuff from trolley at checkout and packed the bags at other end. Might not seem much but felt like a huge achievement for me! Now the other thing...when I was in Lagana it was like being home there were so many English tourists. I am sooo English and have pale skin so no need to guess where I'm from. As I was walking along I heard (in Greek) "Look at how the fat English girl is walking..."laugh, laugh, laugh. I remembered the thread about the lady who had been mooed at in a store and some of the advice...quick as a flash I turned round and in perfect Greek said "Yeah, and look at the stupid Greek donkey with his friends...I can lose these kilos as I choose, tell me please what you are going to do?" His chin was on the floor and his friends were laughing at him..."You understand Greek..."he managed "You managed to work that out by yourself...some Greek animals are better than I thought!!!!" I replied and walked off triumphant. It was empowering...thanks ever so much LBT.

Thanks everyone for all the kudos! I have been so happy all day - and had a couple of NSV's as well...I pulled a top out of my closet that I haven't worn in over a year and it fit great and looked good and I was swimming in my 4X stretch pants and dug in a drawer for a 3X and it fit great, too! I had dinner at Applebee's with a co-worker that I haven't seen since the begining of June (we work for the school district and get summers off) and she was amazed at how different I look already at only 38 lbs gone! That was great, too! When I walk back into the school on Aug. 28th I hope to be down another 5 lbs or so. I get my fill tomorrow morning...yippee!! Hang in there Baylor Mom...I'm sure you'll feel better after your fill. I'll let you know how mine goes
