  1. I was sleeved 11/9/16 and have been following my plan religiously. I've had some stalls but not long periods of time. I feel I have more energy, so yesterday I took stairs instead of the elevator out of curiosity and I was able to without my knees making any cracking sounds and without pain. It's been so long since I've been able to do that. I'm so excited! [emoji109]

    3 week update

OHHH Thankyou for posting this, I am at week 3 and scale hasn't moved for me either, I thought it didn't happen til week four and thought I was doing something wrong. Thank you, I feel so much better!

    Tomato Soup

I wasn't allowed to have tomato soup until I was on the regular diet, at least 4 weeks out. I'm guessing this was due to the acidity. How about cream of chicken soup (made with milk)? Also fat free, sugar free pudding or yogurt.

    3 week update

I am also in the 3rd week stall. No movement of the scale for 3 days. I have since put the scale away. I am going to try and abstain from using it until after my 4 week post-op appointment with the surgeon on the 18th. Wish me luck. I've been addicted to stepping on the little *&$%#@, since the start of my 2 week pre-op diet. I may suffer scale withdrawls,

    Tomato Soup

I was told to make tomato soup and mix it with milk as a full liquid, which did not seam appealing to me. I did have tomato soup from Panera Bread this afternoon. I could not eat the entire bowl. But it was delicious and took away some of my anxiety. There were herbs in it, but nothing else and it did not cause any discomfort. I had my bypass on 3/23/15. Not sure if that helps, but wish you the best of luck.
  6. I'm 2 weeks post op and I just don't want to eat. Nothing seems good to me and I'm never hungry. I know this is bad! Any ideas?
  7. Thank you, mellah124. Sorry it was so long... just had to get it off my chest and I knew people here would be supportive and encouraging. Congrats on your weight loss thus far and even more on being able to eliminate 2 of your 3 diabetes meds! I am confident you'll be able to eliminate the last one at goal!

    First fill today. Help needed.

Amazed at the lack of interest those docs showed. I got a fill about every 4-6 weeks for 1 year. I used water as a good judge as well.
  9. 48 here, sleeved in late 2013. Had my last period last year so I get the whole menopause thing. BUT.... my personal experience (and all it is is that) is that the more carbs I eat, be they added sugar, bread, pasta... heck even fruit and yogurt... the hungrier I am. And yup, for sweets! New research is showing that we cultivate certain types of bacteria in our gut and when we crave sugar it’s to feed the type of bacteria that crave it. It you starve them out you are much better off! Though trial and error I have found my limits where I can get Fiber and such into my diet (some berries, half an apple, whole grain cereal) and Calcium (Greek yogurt w no sugar... I have parathyroid issues so Calcium is big for me)... without triggering the appetite/cravings. Also yeah exercise is key... and I get the energy thing... but there I will say again, for me personally, if I get out there and push past the “tired” next time I am less tired. Takes about a month consistently (I’ve had to come back after injuries laid me up) for the “let’s go” to outweigh the “tired.” I’m a runner (love saying that cuz I was NEVER an athlete pre op) and I run 25-30 miles most weeks. Some days I want to run, other days I’m dragging but so it anyway. And the draggy fades away after I get into it. So... yeah some docs will do a re-sleeve where they make it tighter. Conversion to bypass is an option with most as well. BUT really all it will do is give you that “honeymoon” window again. Which isn’t to say that’s a bad thing, but it won’t last either. It might give you an opportunity to make changes though. What do you eat now?

Has anyone tried the tofu noodles? I saw them in the store today and was curious. I'm still about 3 weeks away from eating them though. I love spaghetti squash btw. It goes good with salmon.
  11. Yes I feel that my friend it can happen, I have recently ( a1 month) been getting to my old little gym at least 4 x's per week, and tomorow my plan is to pick up a case of the choc protein drinks t Costco which r 20 gr of protein each and drink at least 2 a day. The weather has been horrible so u can't even enjoy a walk in the sun which is very uplifting. No doubt there are many hormonal factors involved as well

    Birth Control

I have an IUD, and it's a love/hate relationship. I love the fact that it's a type of birth control that I don't really have to think about and it's good for 5 years. The downside, in 2 months I've had to have 3 IUD's put in because yes, your uterus can expell them. Each time they were inserted they did an ultrasound to check for positioning and they were fine. My uterus is just angry and doesn't like them. If you get one in, make sure you take some type of pain reliever, because it does hurt going in. TMI they do the speculum, then clean your uterus and vagina, and then they insert it. It feels weird for a little bit, but after a day or two you get used to it. The other downside is you either bleed/spot for a few days and you're done. Or you can be like me and bleed for 60 days (my gyno said the bleeding can last for up to 6 months). I don't get my period anymore, but I do get random cramps like my period is coming but it doesn't show up. So it has its good and bad, it's all dependent on you. Have you thought about the Depo shot? A shot in your arm that you get every month?

    No energy

I'm 2.5 weeks post-op. I have found that doing something gives me more energy that anything else. If I just lay in bed, all I want to do is lay in bed. If I force myself up and take the doggy for a quick walk, I have more energy. Basically, just do it!

    No energy

The anesthesia and other meds in your body can take WEEKS to get outta there.. so it makes you feel listless...but a small walk gets you up and out and you can progress from there. Start small, don't make it overwhelming for yourself and you will, eventually get there! Put on music and DANCE...have some fun...amazing how much is burned off with that!

    No energy

i too am having a real energy issue, i'm only a week out. because life goes on and i can't stop living, i had to begin to introduce tiny amounts of carbs into my diet for energy. now i am able to make it in 2-3 hour stretches without collapsing from exhaustion. i use watered down apple juice as my energy of choice.
  16. Had Enough!!!

    Questions

Im 9 days out. I was a little sore still at 6 days, but felt the need to go back to work cause staying home was driving me crazy!!! My doctor has his patients on a full liquid/clear liquid diet after we come home from. Getting 75grams of protein in aday, along with 64 ounces of water seems pretty much impossible!!! Ive bought Unjury protein to add to my crystal light, and chicken broth. I cant have yogurt until two weeks out, which is three days away!! Yes, Im excited about yogurt!! I had a baby shower today, and although the food smelt so good, i wasnt hungry...oh and the cannolies!!! Ohhh maron!!! Pastries galore! It was weird, cause a part of me missed digging in and chowing down....but thats not me anymore!! I have a new way of life! Good luck to you!
  17. Absolutely, I was dropping lbs like it was my job then for like 3 days nothing and I was so upset. I just stuck with the program and weighed 2 days later and I had dropped 4lbs. I wouldn't consider 3 days a stall, but sounds like stalls do happen and it's just a part of the process. As you progress clearly important to follow the guidelines and track your consumption. I think you'll power through, don't be discouraged. I weigh every 3 or 4 days so I see bigger movements and weigh at the exact time everyday so it's comparable. After a few weeks of getting used to everything I couldn't be happier, total.game.changer! Good luck!

    Help!!!

Hi Valleygirl, first, I am not post op, however, I do understand where you are coming from. I have had to maintain (eat, eat, eat) my weight for the last month or two in order to meet BMI for approval. At this point I am disgusted with food; the smell, the taste and even the texture upon my tongue. It is revolting and I worry that post op I will not want to eat past the Protein shake phase. I am hoping this is only a phase and I will agin enjoy food as I once did - only in very, very small portions About 7 years ago I had to lose about 40 lbs and went on Atkins. When it was time for me to begin adding carbs in phase 2, 3 and on, I hated it. The taste of food made me ill because I was used to eating the same foods every week. When I broke off of Atkins and tried soda for the first time, it made me ill. After a month or so, I was right back on those old eating habits of high carb, fattening foods. The disgust finally went away. I wonder if this is the same thing happening to you. You get to a point where food is the enemy and you begin to resent it. Or you eat the same things for so long that they no longer appeal to your tastebuds. Have you tried switching up your daily routine (food wise)?
  19. I had my sleeve surgery Nov 18th. I was feeling well with the exception of loose stools for the past couple of weeks up until about 5 days ago. I just seem to have gotten worse. I get nauseous and dizzy if I am up for very long and i get stomach cramping diarrhea shortly after I eat. I've tried switching to lactaid milk in case it's from lactose intolerance but I don't think that's it. I did call my surgeons office and am going in tomorrow morning. I haven't been able to take my vitamins the past several days because they make me sick. I feel weak. I wanted to know if anyone has had C Diff post op. I was reading that these are some of the symptoms. I'm hoping not. But if anyone has had that can you fill me in on your symptoms and what the treatment was. Thank you
  20. I have to do the breath test as well, but because my surgeon's office requires it (insurance actually requires very little). They want me to stop taking omeprazole for 2 weeks prior (they tell me this today, when my final hoop/ testing appt is in 5 days. grrr). I have GERD super bad and I've gone back & forth all day with the surgeon's office because I can't not take my meds for 2 weeks...what are they thinking? I tested positive for h pylori at Kaiser in 2012 & they gave me a 2 week course of antibiotics. It seemed easy enough. Hopefully they can test you, & if necessary, treat you while the insurance company is approving & you're getting your date. Good luck!
  21. I wish my insurance would have asked for the test because I found out after surgery I had H pylori and was not able to treat it because my surgeon said I couldn't do anitbotics for at least a month. OMG, it was really difficult doing the antibotics as they were pill form and HUGE. Had to cut the suckers in half and take - YUCK. 2 Weeks of antibotics. Not fun.
  22. Awesome! Love the puppies too! pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4
  23. Yup, I've made it to the four-month point. About 105 lbs down since the start, about 65 since surgery on August 4. I can confirm that it does get better each week! I feel like I hit a turning point in terms of getting closer to feeling "normal." I'm still cautiously introducing new foods and fine tuning my sense of fullness so I stop before I get uncomfortable (or sick.) I learned a good lesson this past week about why you must eat all your proteins first: I was having a meeting in a cafe and was hungry for lunch so I ordered a kale salad. It was my first time having raw kale, with regular dressing on the side, but I was thrilled when I was able to eat it, no problem. However, I remained incredibly full for the rest of the day, and unable to eat anything else. I guess it just took a looooooonnnnngggg time to digest. I also have healed other physical issues well enough to take a fitness class. When I was about 5 years old, I was kicked out of a ballet class because I was too fat (this was well before the days when everyone had a chance to participate!). So the first class I took now was a Barre Conditioning. It felt like a little redemption. I may be a ballerina yet!!
