  1. Happy NSV and birthday to you!!!!!!
  2. Whooo Hooo! Today is my birthday and I fit into size 22 pants down from size 24/26. And I wore them to work. And everyone noticed I lost weight. And I felt really good about all the attention. And I have the biggest butt on the planet but (butt) I will be size 20 or even size 18 by the end of September!!!!!!!!!!:biggrin1: I don't weigh myself because my scale is possessed by some skinny person who must have stepped on it in the store before I bought it. It also lies. I get weighed at the hospital when I go in for meetings and such so its about 2-4 times a month. Their scale does not lie not even if you bribe it. Ever since I joined LBT I wanted to post about an NSV, I am so excited. It takes the edge off of getting older eeeeekkkkk! So Happy NSV and birthday to me! :kiss2:

    Major NSV!!

Ok, I can't remember who posted about the 'skinny girl in the mirror', but I, too, can't picture myself skinnier. Although everything and everyone around me tells me different! A little background..... Well, today, I went to Mexico for an unfill. To make a long story short, some of you may have read my complications while on vacation in Chicago and having a hard time finding a doctor to unfill me. Well anyways, I don't want to experience the same situation while I am flying to Hawaii for my son's first football game. So I went for an unfill and will get a fill upon my return. I don't fly much ever, so this won't become a habit, but I am taking the safe side. While in the office, Dr. Ortiz walked in and he gave me a hug, asked how I was doing, blah blah. He asked how much weight I had lost and how much more I want to lose. I told him 30-40 more lbs. He said "Why? You look fantastic right now!" That boosted my self esteem up so high, I was walking out of the office after that with my head up so high! It was just nice hearing such positive words from a doctor! I really do need to lose more lbs, I know, but just wanted to share with everyone and tell everyone once again what a nice man Dr. Ortiz is!!!
  4. Um, so EXACTLY where is this restaurant? . . . . . LOL What a GREAT NSV! Congratulations you skinny, er, HEALTHY girl!
  5. Congratulations, Mandy!!! That's a phenomenal NSV! I hope to see that lady someday, too! Emily

:clap2: Yea for everyone and their good days, NSVs, veiled compliments (I agree with Kari on that one Dezadoo.....you look good and people notice it....so if they miss the mark so be it....you are shining through sistah and that is what matters) and Arcael you are doing just great!!! Congrats to you for getting ownership of your health!!! You are young and will probably be able to avoid a whole host of health issues later in life!!! We July 2006 folks are rocking!!!!! :biggrin1: Chat room was fun last night...it was so busy!!!! Let's do it again!!!! It's pouring here but my spirits are up. This rain is getting oldddddd.....and probably we will get some Ernesto residuals....great!!!! Anyway- it's a good day to be alive and maybe, just maybe tomorrow when I see my cute little short surgeon (I am major tall so everyone is short to me..lol) he will ok a fill. I had hoped to be down 50 by tomorrow and it ain't gonna happen but I have decided NO MORE games. No starving the day before for a good weigh-in the next day. No water pills so my weight will go down. I am what I am. I weigh what I weigh. Good, bad or ugly. That in itself is a big thing for me. I feel my entire life I have been playing the game for the scale in the doctor's office. No more. Hugs to all .....Ruthie

Im so glad everyone is getting NSV's! Yayyy for us julysters. Dezadoo, you got an nsv too but just didn't know it. When people are complimenting you about your tan its because you are glowing and looking healthier!! Im pretty certain of this. My husband pointed out that people don't always notice size but they do recoginize health and vibrance! Im glad too that everyones first days back at work went well. I just want to report that my five day challenge to myself to not have any sugar is going well. Im staying on track! No sugar today.

Arcael - congrats on the NSV! It's great that you've been meeting with a personal traininer as well. Regarding your testing, I'm proud of you for taking them. Working on the mental aspects of your life is just as important as the physical ones. I was seeing a psychologist before I started pursuing getting the band because of an overbearing boss I had. Now I am learning that a lot of my issues that I have are related to the physical person I have become. I will continue to see her monthly to work on my depression issues. If you are indeed diagnosed with AADD, then you'll be able to learn tools to help you live with the disorder and succeed. :clap2: Good for you!

congrats on the nsv's all! ruthie - i'm with you, not ready for school to start next wk, at ALL! i'm wondering...how much wt do you have to lose for someone to say something? i've lost 25 lbs and everyone knows i had sx, i rarely keep my mouth shut and everyone commented on my tan...my friggin tan!?! which is very good by the way considering i am a ghost most of the time, but i digress, my pants barely fit and my shirts are loose and noone has said one word, granted i am a supersized bandster but gooodness, just 1 wow! would be nice! thaks for letting me vent! and congrats to you all who are getting positive feedback!
  10. That's a great NSV. You go girl!
  11. Mandy, what an awesome story and inspiring NSV! I laughed about the mirror. I would have been thinking the same thing!
  12. Hurray! Yes, you would be seeing a "skinny" woman in the mirror. Congrats on this NSV. Is your ticker up-to-date? have you lost 72 pounds already?
  13. I was out with a friend and I excused myself to the ladies room. I saw myself in a full length mirrow for the first time in over a year. There was a thin woman staring back at me with her jaw dropped open. I can't believe how much my body has changed. I have gone from MO to normal in 12 months!!!! Huge NSV for me, also huge mental step, I saw what was really there. I was starting to think I would need counseling to see what everyone else was seeing. I saw it yesterday. WooHoo for me. No point really just wanted to share. ~Mandy P.S. I asked if I could buy that mirror just in case it was the mirror and not really my body. They said no ~M

Hi guys! I just got back from a "mini-vacation" with my husband and 2 kids (8 yr old boy & 4yr old girl). We haven't done anything all summer (mostly because of my recovery time and the money spent on my surgery) so we went away for the weekend to a small "resort" town nearby. It was nice and relaxing. We ate out for all of our meals, and it was a little different for me - that's usually the best part of vacation! Our first meal was Chinese and my food felt like it got "stuck" after just a few bites, so I didn't get to eat much and I was definitely feeling bummed. The next morning it happened again with scrambled eggs. My husband realized that both were pretty dry and maybe that was why. We got to eat dinner at a Cracker Barrell in St. George, UT, which is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world. I was a little worried that the same thing would happen and then I was really going to be bummed. I ate a little bit of my husband's meal and a little bit of my daughter's meal and everything went down perfectly! I got to have a little chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, salad, and fried apples. I felt so wonderful! I ate everything that I wanted and it only took a couple bites of each to be totally satisfied - that is what this is all about! We ended up driving back there for breakfast yesterday and I had another wonderful meal - scrambled eggs with cheese (these weren't dry and went down perfectly!), bacon and grits! Today was my kids' first day back to school. I am our school's PTF (just like a PTA) President and I haven't seen many of the parents since last year. A few of them know of my surgery and couldn't believe the difference already - they were calling my "skinny" - what an amazing thought! I'm not skinny yet, but it was sure nice to hear! I also caught many of the "double takes" of others trying to figure out what was different about me. Wonderful NSV's to start the school year with! I can't wait to hear about Stephanie's first day back! Also, Arcael, how did people react to your amazing change? Keep up the great work everyone!

Hi guys, Great to hear all the nsv's. I hit the 20lb loss and had my second "Have you lost weight?" inquiry. Like a few others on here I've decided at this point to not count calories, and obsess about food. I'm trying lower carb. I went out and bought several low carb cookbooks and I am relearning how to cook. I eat until I'm full and try to get at least 60gms of protein. Turns out chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes/gravy, biscuits, greenbean casserole and banana pudding is not low carb. Hmmmm...who knew. I guess all the skinny people.

Kim, Been there done that!!!! It is an awful feeling, and I have expierenced it several times. Actuall last night I was eating some salad in which I have ate several times before and I got that golf ball. I got up from the table and went for a walk, I thought it was going to come back up, then I decided to do something. I bent over and grabbed my ankles (nsv for being able to do that) in hopes it would make it come up, instead it didn't and when I stood up it was GONE. I was like that's cool. so I may have to triy that again next time. It turns me off of eating for awhile too. Scramble eggs are something I used to eat alot of before my second fill now I cannot eat them at all, to dry or fluffy or something. Good Luck!!!!

Yeah, Kari!! Congrats on a great NSV!! I'm so proud of you! I ate a cookie tonight - my first one since before June 20th...and it wasn't even that good. I'm glad I got it out of my system...now I can move on! I have to get to bed - I have to join the working public again tomorrow!

Stephanie, I totally agree with you, protein makes you not feel as hungry. Its so odd! But true. I remember when they used to say eat lots of complex carbohydrates.. lol nowonder America ended up getting fatter and fatter. But I just can't give up my carbs completely lol. Pre band I did the Atkins diet (low carb) and was pretty successful on it I lost about 40 pounds pretty quickly but eventually I just felt like I couldn't live without carbs and I ended up gaining all my weight right back plus some more. Thats why now Im trying to eat a little of everything but focusing on having more protein. And Im trying really hard to make rules and boundaries for myself like drinking LOTS of water, not eating anything after 6:00 pm, eating the healthy stuff first like protein and vegetables and then having just a bite or two of the tasty carbs I like so much. I really hope it works! I just have to share a NSV I had today too, earlier this summer I ordered some T-shirts online and they were a size 2x but they are the tight fitting kind so they are more like a 1x or XL even.. and of course they looked terrible on my fat rolled tummy hanging over the tops of my too tight shorts so I never wore them. Then today it was kind of cool/breezy outside so I put on a pair of jeans that are now loose yay! and thought Id try on one of the T'shirts and oh my goodness it fit and was a bit roomy even!! Oh happy day.

Thanks Beth for the advice regarding not asking but telling doctor about a fill. I will do just that. Having an "eeh" weekend. School starts soon and my dh's caregiver (dh had a stroke and is disabled) quit after four and a half years. Finding a replacement that is affordable, reliable, good, dh likes and I feel I can trust has been tough. It has rained (more like poured) all weekend and just kinda symbolizes the way I feel. No weight loss and worries. Blah. NSV though if I MUST be positive (lol)- we went to a pool party today (yes, in the pouring rain!!!!) and I did not allow myself to indulge in all the good party appetizer stuff. I stuck to proteins, a little bit of bean salad, a little fruit and drank my liquids. I was so proud of me!!!! That is why I told a lot of people about my banding. I know they are watching and I am so pitiful about will power so it works for me. So yea for me. My first party and I did not die from leaving off those dips, spreads, and other lucious appetizers!!!. Hope all of you had a good weekend....it's nice to have this forum back!!!! Ruthie

I am with you there Barbara about the clothes, yesterday for work I changed 7 times because everything I pulled out was too big, it was frustrating but a nice frustration. I am going to the Women of faith conference this weekend so I went shopping last night. And here is the NSV.... I shopped in the misses section. Now I am big on top and never would have thought I could shop there, I was able to wear an XL in misses, the clothes there are MUCH cuter and I was sooo happy! And I was ablt to buy size 16 dress pants (no elastic), was in a 24 just 4 months ago. I love this band!!!!!!! Have a great time at the luncheon!!!!

Gone for Good Club - August 2006

Ok, this may be TMI but I went shopping last night. Took about 1k with me b/c I didn't want to spend too much on clothes when I am still losing weight. I bought these sexy ass boy undies - lacy. I came home, put them on and OMG they look HOTT!!!!!! I have an ass! What a wonderful NSV...roflmao! Now I just need a full body tan and to drop the final pounds and schedule the surgery. Hello Mr. Tummy Tuck dude!

Gone for Good Club - August 2006

Congrats all, have a great weekend, P'nut and Dawg... the Dawgster will be fine! For an NSV, I'm gonna go clothes shopping this weekend. I'm down to a Large shirt (from xxxl), and 36 pants (from 58), so I need some NEW CLOTHES! I'm getting pretty close to goal, and doubt my shirt size will decrease, and may at most go down one more pants size, so this time I can buy some REAL clothes, not discount stuff to keep the price low during transition. Wish me luck, shopping at REGULAR stores... no more big men's shops for me! BTW, isn't Mo doing great without a band! Heck, she'd be doing great if she had one too, but it takes a lot extra without, and she is setting an example for all of us banded folks... it is all about discipline and hard work!

    Gotta Fly-Embarassing Question

Thanks Jill. Tonight I'm actually wearing my sister's old jeans-size 20!!!!!! (a major NSV for me!) I don't think I'm a 20 yet but for some unknown reason I was able to fit into this pair! Do you think I might be able to get away with this without total embarassment?
