My surgeon recommended I wait a year...I almost made it to a year too lol...My husband and I started trying for baby number 2 in March/April. I was pregnant by May, but had a miscarraige at 5 weeks. Then in July we found out we were pregnant again. This is a very high risk pregnancy, but nothing that happened had ANYTHING to do with the band...if anything the band has helped. I am in my 3rd month and I weigh less then I did when I conceived my son! Good luck in making your decision. I am also 23, but my son is 2 and special needs/disabled

Here is a good salad for the Holiday. I call it a HOLIDAY SALAD. ! Large can of crushed pineapple drained 2 small boxes of Jello Green or Red is nice for Easter (NO Water AT ALL) 1 large cottage cheese 12 oz. Cool Whip or off Brand. Drain your pineapple first, leave it till time to add, and it will drain out just fine. Pour the jello in a bowel, and add the cool whip to it. Stir about5 minutes till totally dissolved. Add the cottage cheese to it, then stir in the pineapple. Chill overnight, then serve. Delicious ! You can cut this in half if you want, and it's not to high in calories. It will keep 3 or 4 days. Makes a excellent Pot Luck Dish too. Shirley.

I had my gastric bypass on 7/15/13 and I shortly had to have my gallbladder removed on 8/3/13. my doctor has cleared me to exercise and even swim. I want to begin a routine that is appropriate for me, since I just got out of surgery but will also challenge me. Please if there are any suggestions it would mean a lot to me. Thank you

What is Considered to be "Liquids"?
feedyoureye replied to Tandybo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc says no acid foods including tomato soup for 8 weeks! And NO tomato juice or sauce, oranges, peppers, pineapple, grapefruit, hot sauce. ...also no skin or seeds, such as in strawberry or other berries. -
I am 2 weeks post op. I went to a renaissance fair yesterday. I thought it would be difficult being around all of that yummy food, however I just kept thinking "wow those portions are so huge" the ironic thing is before surgery that was a normal size to me. The most difficult thing for me to pass up was the pickles. I had no problem watching people walk by with plates piled high with cheese frys or huge waffle cones with 5 scoops of ice cream. I swear there was a pickle stand around every corner. I also notice when people post recipes like tomatoes cucumbers and balsamic dressing my mouth starts to water. What is wrong with me? I love it, however I'll love it even more when I'm able to eat those healthy fares :-)

My NUT wants me to eat oatmeal as I need the fiber for the 'stoppage' problem that I have, AKA Constipation. So I cook up a batch of steel cut oatmeal on Sunday, and eat about 1/4 cup mixed with some cinnamon and almonds, three times a week - and no more constipation! I sometimes also buy the frozen steel cut oatmeal at Trader Joes. You just heat it in the microwave, but it's kind of expensive.

So i went 2 see my PCP and sure enough she said i had one of the worst cases of thrush she has ever seen she said it is very bad so i have to stop all antibiotics for now i have to call my surgeon to let him know because he put me on the antibiotics for the h.pylori so my doc says hopefully the h.pylori cleared up with that 1 week i took of the meds if not i'll have 2 start the treatment again after i feel better but as long as i get better from this thrush right now its all that matters 2 me i was on 2000mg of amoxicillan, 1000mg of clarythromycin, and 250mg Zythromycin, so a total of 3250mg of antibiotics daily waaaaayyy 2 much my doc said that is what caused my strep 2 turn into thrush.

How Long Till Incisons Close Up? Planning Vaca To Beach
imanokie replied to imanokie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wont get to talk to surgeon again for three weeks. surgery is in four. need to book vacation before then. of course i would ask the surgeon if i could, but i cant before we book, so, i dont want to waste money on a vaca that i wont get to enjoy. its not really a matter of, when can i technically be submerged, its a matter of, im a germ freak and if everyone's scabs arent healed but are given the go, im still not going under nasty Mexico Water, haha! =) i think we will skip international, skip the beach and just stay somewhere around here. thanks everyone! really appreciate your input! -
I just had oatmeal on monday....I'm 7 weeks out, and I did fine...at 2 weeks out I was approved to have thin oatmeal, cream of wheat, or grits....the most I can eat is 1/2C...I'm burned out on cream of wheat and grits (lived on it during pureeds) and I only eat the steel cut oatmeal, its tastes better to me...

Vertical Sleeve Procedure in Canada?
redroses47 replied to jenn1831's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Do a lot of internet research .. there is more 'local' information than Mexico. I don't know of Alberta but here in B.C., the choices are very dismal. There is one surgeon in Victoria who does the sleeve but his waiting list is 5 years and with that, you have to be overweight AND sick. Provincial medical does cover this cost. If you can go to Ontario, you have much better chances but the government medical plans do not cover this unless you are a resident of Ontario. Lap bands can be done in any major city. Average cost is $20,000. I chose to go to Washington State. Paid my cash .. procedure done within six weeks .. no regrets at all. -
I am having my monthaversary next week, and yes, I've 99% forgotten the pain (still feel the portal ouch a bit when I'm on my side in bed) and I'm still learning to eat slowly. I can eat just about anything, and slowing down is a tough thing to learn. I've felt stuck a couple times, but it was just momentary. The goal I am really working on is getting enough liquids in. Tough for me. Protein is a breeze for me. I will get a fill on the 5th, I wonder what that will be like. Congrats on getting off the meds!! Major victory there!

I was sleeved 11/9/16 and have been following my plan religiously. I've had some stalls but not long periods of time. I feel I have more energy, so yesterday I took stairs instead of the elevator out of curiosity and I was able to without my knees making any cracking sounds and without pain. It's been so long since I've been able to do that. I'm so excited! [emoji109]

OHHH Thankyou for posting this, I am at week 3 and scale hasn't moved for me either, I thought it didn't happen til week four and thought I was doing something wrong. Thank you, I feel so much better!

I wasn't allowed to have tomato soup until I was on the regular diet, at least 4 weeks out. I'm guessing this was due to the acidity. How about cream of chicken soup (made with milk)? Also fat free, sugar free pudding or yogurt.

I am also in the 3rd week stall. No movement of the scale for 3 days. I have since put the scale away. I am going to try and abstain from using it until after my 4 week post-op appointment with the surgeon on the 18th. Wish me luck. I've been addicted to stepping on the little *&$%#@, since the start of my 2 week pre-op diet. I may suffer scale withdrawls,

I was told to make tomato soup and mix it with milk as a full liquid, which did not seam appealing to me. I did have tomato soup from Panera Bread this afternoon. I could not eat the entire bowl. But it was delicious and took away some of my anxiety. There were herbs in it, but nothing else and it did not cause any discomfort. I had my bypass on 3/23/15. Not sure if that helps, but wish you the best of luck.

I'm 2 weeks post op and I just don't want to eat. Nothing seems good to me and I'm never hungry. I know this is bad! Any ideas?

Thank you, mellah124. Sorry it was so long... just had to get it off my chest and I knew people here would be supportive and encouraging. Congrats on your weight loss thus far and even more on being able to eliminate 2 of your 3 diabetes meds! I am confident you'll be able to eliminate the last one at goal!

First fill today. Help needed.

Amazed at the lack of interest those docs showed. I got a fill about every 4-6 weeks for 1 year. I used water as a good judge as well. -
Anyone here about 4 years post op Sleeve?
jess9395 replied to justlee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
48 here, sleeved in late 2013. Had my last period last year so I get the whole menopause thing. BUT.... my personal experience (and all it is is that) is that the more carbs I eat, be they added sugar, bread, pasta... heck even fruit and yogurt... the hungrier I am. And yup, for sweets! New research is showing that we cultivate certain types of bacteria in our gut and when we crave sugar it’s to feed the type of bacteria that crave it. It you starve them out you are much better off! Though trial and error I have found my limits where I can get Fiber and such into my diet (some berries, half an apple, whole grain cereal) and Calcium (Greek yogurt w no sugar... I have parathyroid issues so Calcium is big for me)... without triggering the appetite/cravings. Also yeah exercise is key... and I get the energy thing... but there I will say again, for me personally, if I get out there and push past the “tired” next time I am less tired. Takes about a month consistently (I’ve had to come back after injuries laid me up) for the “let’s go” to outweigh the “tired.” I’m a runner (love saying that cuz I was NEVER an athlete pre op) and I run 25-30 miles most weeks. Some days I want to run, other days I’m dragging but so it anyway. And the draggy fades away after I get into it. So... yeah some docs will do a re-sleeve where they make it tighter. Conversion to bypass is an option with most as well. BUT really all it will do is give you that “honeymoon” window again. Which isn’t to say that’s a bad thing, but it won’t last either. It might give you an opportunity to make changes though. What do you eat now? -

Has anyone tried the tofu noodles? I saw them in the store today and was curious. I'm still about 3 weeks away from eating them though. I love spaghetti squash btw. It goes good with salmon. -
Anyone here about 4 years post op Sleeve?
QuincyW replied to justlee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I feel that my friend it can happen, I have recently ( a1 month) been getting to my old little gym at least 4 x's per week, and tomorow my plan is to pick up a case of the choc protein drinks t Costco which r 20 gr of protein each and drink at least 2 a day. The weather has been horrible so u can't even enjoy a walk in the sun which is very uplifting. No doubt there are many hormonal factors involved as well
