Nsv Drum Roll Please!
gustavo52974 replied to Jill279's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
As someone who has broken furniture by sitting on it, I understand what a NSV that is! Huzzah! -
So, since I've lost 90 lbs, I've been enjoying wearing flirty skirts all summer. Knowing that fall is around the bend, I wondered what size jeans I'd be in now. Off to the mall for some size- tries I went. Grabbed 16's- nope! 14's--NOPE!!! 12's--you betcha!!! <--- me doing a happy dance!!! That's from a solid size 24!!!!. Sorry- it's humid here and my hair was messy from changing tops in the dressing room lol. Ladies, this skirt is from a company called Haystacks. It is reversible!!. These are the two prints on this skirt. Most importantly, no waist band, super cute, and very forgiving as you lose weight. This is a large I'm wearing- bought it while I was still an 18/16 and still fits beautifully. They are made in Michigan, and also have an online shop. The reversible print ones are called "Switchstacks". A bit pricey at $52 but being reversible I get tons of wear out of them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Skinny Bucket List

Great idea!! The last thing on my list is to take salsa dance lessons. The nsvs are very rewarding! -
Non Scale Victory: Yesterday I tried on my size 18W pants that I bought from Dillards and they fit with room to spare. I tried on the same brand pants in 16W and they fit but were a little tight. Now, granted, they are a good name brand that usually has generous sizes, but still, these are the smallest pants I own. I also went out last night with a couple of my friends and they pointed out that this good looking guy was checking me out and looking at my butt. In bad news, I've been eating unhealthy food for the past two days. I did get a french fry stuck though it wiggled it's way down, so I don't think I'll be craving french fries anytime soon. I'm going to the grocery store to get healthy food to eat today, so I won't be tempted. I guess old habits are hard to break. When I go out and see my friends ordering french fries and sandwiches, that's what I want too. Luckily, my band is working for me in that I couldn't eat even half of what I ordered, so I took it home, but the bad news is that I ate the leftovers for breakfast, instead of giving them to my friends or throwing them away which I what I did before to break my bad eating cycle. I have been kicking butt at the gym so hopefully that will make up for some of it. Spark People actually had a message saying, "You have burned signficantly more calories than your goal. Your daily calorie goal will not automatically adjust. Do you want to change your goals?" However, this is still not an excuse for eating poorly. The worst part is that I exceeded my calories by alot, but was still under my goal in protein...grrrr! New week, new start!

My belly may be smaller, but my hands are still XXXL
LittleBill posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We all have those NSV moments. Sometimes they are mixed. I don't really WANT my hands to get smaller, although if I could let the air out of them a little bit once in a while so they would fit places better, that might work. On the plus side (or should that be the minus side?), I have lost enough weight that it is much easier to drape myself over the side of my truck so I can better see where I can't fit my hands to work on things that need worked on. Today was "change the headlight day". I've been changing headlights since the days of "sealed beams", where you had to re-aim the light every time you changed it. I was thrilled when plug in halogen bulbs came into being. But now, They (with a capital T) have decided to cram even more stuff in and around them to make it virtually impossible to do with any sort of efficiency. I do not care for the engineers who design machinery which has to be worked on by normal human beings. I think they are still angry for the way they were treated in school by their fellows, and this is one way of getting revenge. To get to the offending bulb, I had to remove this thing called the air box. For reasons unbeknownst to me, the wise men who designed this thing decided it would be a good idea to use two different types of fasteners to hold the bottom of the air box onto the frame in the truck. One type is molded into the box itself, while the other (of which there is only one) is a soft rubber protrusion, which is designed to compress and not pop back into place when one attempts to reinstall the air box. That was eventually solved by the judicious (and forceful) application of some pliers, gripping that pliable part and pulling it out about two inches before it snapped back. I managed to get the box off the truck and expose the base of the lamp. These same worthies designed a bayonet mount. That's a good idea. They designed it though, to twist TOWARDS the wall of the truck instead of the other way! Who thought that was a good idea!?! I could hear snickering coming over a cubicle wall from somewhere in Detroit. And of course, there was some metal frame welded around the whole thing designed to make anyone with an XXXL sized hand cringe with frustration while trying to insert it into the available space and actually TURN the bulb in its mount. I finally got the bulb in, and decided it would be a good idea to make sure it was working properly before I buttoned everything back up. I did not want to go through all that only to discover I had to take it all apart again because something didn't seat properly. It was then that I discovered that the air box is important for the engine running, not for the air in the cabin. At first I thought I had done something hideously wrong. It made horrendous gasping noises, like a fat person who had just run up several flights of stairs. I could see the dollars flying out of my wallet to make it right again. But I just clenched my teeth, and resolved not to panic until I got it all back together for another test. I got it all together except for the last bolt. That was the one I dropped earlier, and which Mrs. LittleBill retrieved for me. She is a big help for me when I do this stuff, because her hands will fit into places I could never get mine. And this was one of those cases. Of course, there is a huge downside to this. It never fails. Mrs. LittleBill will step in to help me complete a task that is a physical impossibility for me. This is usually reaching in someplace just like this. Of course, this is ALSO when one of the neighbors will drive by, and see her leaning into the engine compartment with me standing there handing her tools, or worse, just watching. How embarrassing is that!?! Finally, I tested the whole thing out one more time to make sure the lights worked, AND the engine was back to purring the way it is supposed to. It was then I noticed the notice on the dash computer. If you can't make it out in the picture, it is warning me that the hood is open. I am glad for that, because you know, I might never have noticed. I was just about ready to drive away. -
Oh boy you just made my eyes go all watery!! An awesome NSV!!

Congratulations ! You're doing a great job ! Its those Nsv's that will keep you motivated when the scale is'nt moving . You will start noticing little things happening that you did'nt see coming, but are very encouraging. YOU"RE AWESOME !!!!!!!! I was so excited too , when i got banded last December, 2011. My Dr agreed that if i followed the food rules 95% of the time, got my fills as needed, and exercised 3-4 x a week, i would be successful. Well, he was right ! Im down 42 lbs, gone from a size 18 to a size 14, and look and feel 100 better ! Yesterday a female co-worker ( who had the band several years ago) said to me "I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but your ass looks amazing !" We couldnt stop laughing !!!!!!!! Heres hoping you ass starts looking amazing too ! Best of luck !

I have battled high blood pressure for about 10 years, starting in my early 20's (scary to start so young) and in the last 5 years had it moderated with diet and no meds. It was averaging reading of 130's over 90's and pulse rate was usually in the 90's. The past week I've been monitoring my BP and it has been averaging 110's over 60's with my pulse rate in the 60's!!!!!! One reading was even 108/52......AMAZING!!!!!! Thank you sleeve, lol.

I'm 2 months out from surgery and am down 85 pounds total (45 since surgery). I am extremely happy with my weight loss so far, and when I got on the scale this morning I was down into the next 10!! Here are my NSV's: 1. I got to go shopping and buy pants and a bathing suit TWO sizes smaller!! 2. I pulled out a pair of pants that I have never been able to wear because they were too small and I was too embarrassed to send them back, I put them on and they are HUGE on me. 3. My stomach no longer touches the steering wheel when I sit in the car, even with the seat pulled forward. I'm so happy with my decision and I'm finally starting to feel great for the first time since surgery (and really for the first time in years)!!

I was in bed, I flipped over on my back, I had had to have an unfill earlier in the day and was kind of depressed. My arm slid across my upper stomach, I though G*D D*mn it, the port has flipped and is sticking out. Now what am I going to do? I felt around to see if I could feel how bad it was and suddenly realized that they were my ribs that I was feeling. I cannot believe it, I have felt them like that in years. What a great way to end a terrible day!!!

Great NSV!

I had surgery on 03/29/13, so I'm almost 8 months post op. I started out at 256 lbs. and my goal weight is 150 lbs. Today, I weighed in at 190 lbs. Because of my height and the fact that I have huge boobs (LOL), I really just wanted to fit into Size 12 jeans. I figured that would make me look well proportioned. I wanted to wait to buy clothes, but everything is falling off of me. I caved in today and went to buy a new pair of jeans. I bought a Size 14, but was too embarrassed to try them on in the store. I just tried them on...they're too big!!! Yippee!!!

Okay - so after watching an epidsode of What Not to Wear and seeing all the women who don't wear the right size bra, I went to a bra shop (few years ago) and was measured - told I needed 44D (I'd been buying 48B - go figure) ... so that is what I have been buying. I know I have lost inches around as I am on the very last row of hooks. Last night, Bearded and I were at Lane Bryant (I needed new panties) and they were having a bra fitting ... so I had the "bra specialist" measure me and she said "40DD" ... now, I can understand the 40 part, but how do you go from a D to a DD when you've lost inches and almost 50 lbs? I tried on several of their bras (actually went with a 42DD, as I couldn't breath in a 40) and filled the cups out completely. Just still don't understand going up a cup size!?! And OMG the support these bras gave me -- the girls were up high - like I'd had a boob lift -- gives me an idea of what they will look like when I actually do have the lift. It was their balconette bra. They are having a sale right now - buy 1, get 1 half-off. And I reached one of my NSV's - I bought some boy panties (size 14/16) WITH A MATCHING BRA! Silly NSV I know, but has always been one of my "desires"

Yesterday I went to pick out some scrubs for school. I picked up an XL shirt and pants. I asked the clerk if I could try them on and she laughs at me saying no way will those fit me. She grabs mediums and hands them to me. I give her the look of death wanting to punch her right in the face! I take them, fearing the humiliation I've dealt with my entire life of something not fitting. They fit! I now want to make out with her right then and there! I obviously still see myself as obese and it stinks that I don't see myself the way others do! Hopefully one day....

My hubby took me to the store yesterday because I needed a spring jacket. A wind breaker..Anyway he kept bringing me size large jackets and they were too big...Finally he said..I just can't believe this your a medium jacket...I said, obviously in this style at least.. Shaking his head he said he never expected any of these things to happen and the fact that I take a smaller size jacket then him, has just floored him..... I love it when he is shocked at the new me emerging!!!

Today, for the first time since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure two years ago, the nurse at my doctor's office was able to use a regular cuff when checking my bp. It was so wonderful. I used to always get so embarrassed when they had to switch out the cuff for a large one. Never again!
