Any November 8Th Sleevers?
jenniferhm replied to jenniferhm's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not on a liquid diet yet! My doctor has his patients go on a High Protein/Low Carb diet 2 weeks before Scheduled Surgery Date.. Today makes Day 5 of that Diet for me! I'm missing sweets, bread, and soda so bad :/ I'm having my surgery here in Kentucky! 10 More Days to go -
Can you envision yourself at goal?

No, I can't. I try to imagine it, but it seems so far off. I'm 10 weeks out and have 68 pounds to go. -

new_journey4me replied to joe5683's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do a 6 month program - I gained 10 lbs but I do have an underlying issue so I'm not to concerned. It's not like I gained another 50lbs. Good luck and it goes by faster then you think! -
It's hard when we are still in morning from losing our comfort friend....food! I sub with baths and music, or take a break and escape in a good novel! Give 90% away but always keep 10 % for you everyday ! if you don't, you might fall.. And then what? Good luck and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I have been reading so many forums and discussions on this board that I thought I had everything firgured out....somewhat. But nothing could've prepared me for all this pain. I am 2 days post-op and what to greet all my attending nurses with tears of pain. I would say on a scale of 1-10 I'm @ about a 8. I had a hiatal hernia fixed as well, so this may be contributing to the pain. I can't really drink much....I'm pushing about 16 oz's a day. I am excited about all that is left to come and plan on leaning on my sleeve family for advice, encouragement and support. Thanks for listening and its good to know I'm not the only one.
-
My doctor suggested the sleeve last december. My husband, nor anyone in my family or closest friends were on board with me, so I discarded the idea. Then in July, with more health issues creeping up on me, I decided to do it. I told my husband exactly that. He then was on board. I made him go with me to my Drs appts. The DR flat out told him that it would add 10 - 15 years to my life. From that point on, my husband has been such a dear, helping me 100% Good Luck....you have to take care of yourself first - only you can do that!!!

Help!!! distended again and penniless!!!
Elisabethsew replied to evcase's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stay on liquids but make sure you get in 60 grams of protein a day... protein shakes. After a night like you had, I would do ONLY liquids for at least 2 days before trying soft foods. Lastly, get some over the counter Pepcid for the heartburn and ask your MD for a prescription for an acid blocker. I'm an RN, the dose of Pepcid we use is 20 mg twice a day. I'm not sure if the over the counter stuff is 10 or 20 mg but you need the 20 mg. Try a warm cup of tea before you go to bed. -
Hi Guy,s Just got back from nearly 3 weeks of holidays. Hawaii, Los Angeles and Vegas it was fantastic. I ate like a pig and stuffed in as much as i could. When at dinner with friend i quietly went to the restrooms half time and had a purge then went back to the table and continued. No one was the wiser. When we returned home. (So glad to be home.) TOTAL WIEGHT GAINED , No, No , -0.5 of a kilo I couldnt believe the scales. I lost 1/2 a KG . Normally a holiday would be a gain of 5 or 10 kg. I,m a happy old soul. Mark.

Hey all, i had my final 2 summer bbq's this weekend and boy was it big fun. party 1 - a housewarming - scooped my food out of pans with tablespoon. literally had a spoonful of food! -greens, chicken leg and sweet potatoes - it took me two sittings to finish this little bit of food. my children are amazed at how little i eat now. they keep offering me food but my little son will say "are you allowed to have this?" LOL:wink:- i had just a little of everything at this party and i was just fine - i had a fellow bandster there with me but i think she is band abuser. her plate was full of food... i tried to discuss eating with her but she was also the hostess - so she was busy. Party 2 - more of the same - very small portions - my son asked me if i wanted to taste a piece of cake he had " oh wait momma, can you have cake?" LOL:lol: - i did make one bad move though - i was talking to my daughter and stuck a piece of chicken in my mouth and forgot to chew! it was stuck, stuck, stuck - i bee lined to the bathroom and tried to bring it up and out but i had to let it sit and it went down - it hurt like HELL though. :tt1: (hence all of the smiley emotions) ~~ i went out looking at gyms on friday - my hubby agreed to go with me since we found a gym that is $32 per month for a couple. i will call the dr's office today to see when i can start working out. i have been walking around alot because it is homecoming shopping season... my 16yr old is mall walking me to death! Back to work this week though - i sure enjoyed staying home these last 3 weeks. i haven't focused too much on my weight - although i can say i am teetering under 260 right now but not to be excited because i know the best is yet to come. first fill is 10/07 - i am not eating alot now - i think it is my mind that is scared of overeating. i also start to get a sensation in my left shoulder when i think i have eaten too much... does anyone else experience this? thats all for now! have a great week everyone.

I am going thru the same thing. I gained 10 lbs to meet the 40 BMI but was denied AGAIN because it wasn't over 40 for the entire 2 yrs. it was 38.86 when I started, & I didn't have one of the 3 major co-morbidities. I'm having Lindstrom work my case. i started in March. this is SSOOO frustrating! -

It so glad to know I'm not the only one that's felt insane. I think 10 days of Clear liquids is starting to mentally challenge me. I'm shocked that the body can go so long with almost zero calories. -
Today was my 1st fill in 10months. Long story, but ready to lose these last 30, that I've had in a year. I've 102 lbs. in 2yrs. The last stretch is hard, and I'm so committed to go forth. I guess my struggle is finding my balance after a fill. You lose a good 10 after the 7days of liquids but as soon as I eat solids, I go back to where I weighed before the band going nowhere. That's with heavy excerise. I'm going to start a food diary, and see what's happening.

Jeanie, thanks for taking care of me today. I made it all day without leaving the house. Hubby is whining that he wants me to go to bed now. I usually go to bed at 10 cuz if I go earlier, I'm up to early. But he's nagging, "when's the last time you had a good night sleep?" So time to brush my teeth and hit the hay. We have constant air conditioning wars at home. My office is the coldest, so I freeze all summer. When it's 123 outside I sit in my office with a space heater on because my office gets all the cold air, so co-workers are warm while I'm frozen. But my husband works outside in the heat so he melts all day. He wants the house freezing, I want to thaw out. I think it was 105 today and I'm still in my socks & long sweats. Dork. Good night. Thanks again for being there.

Yes, fills are what it is all about! That is how the band works. Without fills your band isn't doing what it is supposed to do (unless you are one of those people who have restriction without it, and I'm NOT) My doctor lets us get fills every 10 days. He is conservative with amounts because he would rather have us come in more often if needed and not be overfilled, trust me that is a much wiser way to go about it. My fills are free for the first year so he doesn't make any extra money whether I have 2 fills or 10. Your doctor is doing what is best, ramping you up slowly. That can be frustrating, but I really believe it is better physically and emotionally. Once you are at the right restriction you should be able to lose about 10 pounds a month, but it might take several fills to get to the right restriction. Don't be too discouraged if you can't lose 30 pounds by May. In ten years you are not going to remember if it took you 10 months or 10 weeks to lose this weight. I know just how you are feeling, and felt exactly the same way after my surgery, and my weight is just starting to come off now and it's okay...because I know it is going to come off!

I'm not all that happy, but I was ready for less weight loss during the mushy phase. I saw my nutritionist today-lost 1 pound in the last week and a half!!! argh! Two weeks post surgery I had lost 10! Iknow not to be frustrated, and I go in for my first fill tomorrow, so..I posted earlier that I had been feeling hungrier, and as if I can eat more now. I'veread So many posts like this, I really shouldn't be even writing this, but I just needed to vent, y'all! Upping my Water and Protein should help-at least I didn''t gain, right? I'll try and remain positive!.. -
19 days out and in hell!! Ended up having a second surgery to remove scar tissue, have been admitted twice back to the hospital for throwing up, and I've only lost ten pounds. I'm nauseous and dry heve if I eat anything, I'm still in pain and wishing I never did this. Tell me it gets better???
-
Hi Sweetpea...I understand what you are saying about being truly hungry late at night because it happens to me often, too. I usually eat dinner around 6:00 and by 10:00 my stomach is really rumbling. What do I do about it? Nothing! I just ignore it! I just say no, it's ok to be hungry and anyway it's bedtime, not mealtime, so I am not going to eat. Then in the morning after going to bed hungry I find I am hungry for my breakfast instead of just eating it because it is 'breakfast time.'

Thanks. The 55lbs tho is since I started the process in March '08. It's 30lbs since surgery. I had to lose 10% before surgery. It amazes me that I'm 55lbs less than I was over a year ago. I saw myself in the mirror the other day, actually SAW myself, and was shocked! And kinda proud of myself. I'm not huge anymore. Yes, I still have a long way to go and I'm still big, but I'm not HUGE and I can function better and my clothes, well the ones that aren't too big, look better. I'm not having to continuously adjust my clothing. It's been an interesting journey so far! Enjoy the ride as much as you can!

So it's been a while since we've all had our May surgery...

Hi to all. It's been a long while for me, just like Halleujah, I goof around a little at night on the site, but posting, for some odd reason, I'm too tired by then. I promise to do better. I love this thread. I had my second fill last week and my doctor has me following a strict 48hours liquid then 48hrs mushie then I can eat after every fill, and 24hours of liquid after a PB. So of course my first day eating again I felt like I went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson (no, my ears are fine  I had mashed cauliflower, and I think I will be staying away from that for a while. I can go about 4 hours inbetween meals. so I might need a little extra, but I am in no hurry, I am still learning and chewing. I am glad to hear everyone is doing well. -
I'm about 10 wks out and feeling great! The first few days, first week can be a royal pain in the #$%!!! Take smaller sips, basically get tiny bit of fluid in your mouth and llet it slide down your throat. Took me awhile, because I realized I was a gulper. Just keep sipping. The gas hurts, belly sore, but, I had to really push myself to get up and walk. Even for a few minutes at a time. I, did this as often as possible. It really helped! Hang in there, rest when you need to, walk when you don't want, and cherish this journey!!!
