I Love Carnivals Now!
Less of Leslie replied to kcsmicah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait for the CA State Fair this year! I was always asked... "are you pregnant? You can't ride if your pregnant" AAARRRGH!!! . This year....IT's ON! Great NSV!! -
Something happened yesterday that made me so happy. I take a class in Roller Derby, all the skating, none of the impact. Some girls wear cute derby outfits (shirts, shorts/skirt, socks. I bought some cute knee socks at the beginning of the class, but my calf's were too big for them. Not anymore! They are still tight, but they go all the way up. I was soo happy.

Super NSVs!!!

More NSV's (compiled from the rabbits/turtles challenge) I bought a NON STRETCH pair of Jeans from the Jr's department in a size 16 and they fit perfectly. No "w" either! I wear the smallest size shirt that Torrid sells. I bought a really cute shirt from there the other day in a "0" (probably a 16/18?). It 'fits' instead of being baggy, which is also kind of an NSV because I usually don't wear things that 'fit' because some how if your shirt doesn't hug your fat rolls, other people don't know they are there or something, LOL. I went to a bridal expo a few weeks ago and realized that the entire time I was there I wasn't self conscious of my weight. I think that's pretty cool. In the regular economy section of an airplane last weekend, the tray table didn't touch me when I took it down. I used to have to lean my seat back so that I could bring it down all the way and it still hit my belly. I suppose it's kind of an NSV that I am having my teeth fixed. My weight is still my top priority, but I'm to the point where I can focus on other things that need work. Last week on my lunch break I had no idea what I wanted to eat, so I started walking. I ended up walking 2 miles, just because it felt good.

ok what is a NSV?
-
Although I am nowhere near my goal weight, I still feel pretty good. Confidence is the best nsv, just feeling better about me is great.
-
Oh my goodness, you're like my role model!!! You seem to be always on the right track with exercise and eating! Remember my new low carb lifestyle??? That lasted all of breakfast. So, failure again. But this is not the place for that!!! This is all about NSVs...and I have confidence, too. More than usual!!! I might even think some guys are looking at me cause I'm cute, not fat!!!! No, that can't be right...do I have toilet paper on my shoe????

My introduction to the site
jamilyne 102668 replied to Girl on a mission's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can relate with the pain - before I had my surgery - my knees, legs and feet ached so bad. I still have some aches and pains, but it is so much better! I know that excess weight can have an affect on your back and knees - I'm hoping that you will feel better after you have your surgery as well! Just a sidenote - ** One of my NSVs (Non scale Victories) was when I first ran. I hadn't ran in a really really long time (at least 10-12 years). My daughters and I were going for a walk and I raced my little one and I actually ran - I was so excited. Now I jog all the time - not for long distances, but I can do it! I could never ever do that before I had surgery. Its important because I definitely couldn't do it before I had surgery because I was in so much pain - and now I can jog. You will have lots of these little victories that will mean so much in your every day life after you have had surgery! Wishing you the best -
Thanks! It was a long haul so I know how you feel. I hit several plateaus along the way and had a few gains too but it's all part of the journey. Yeah, blockages are never fun but it sure teaches ya to slow down and chew. I find different textures do it to me if I'm not careful. You're doing great though - 30+lbs gone for good!! My first 30 gave me the taste for more. Be sure to keep track of NSV(non scale victories) as those are just as good as the lost lbs. Yesterday my doctor walked by me in the hall of the hospital and didn't even recognize me - she did the double take thing and said WOW! You look fantastic. I was on cloud 9 for the rest of the day. Good luck on your journey.

Hi, Patty, would you go to the introductions and tell us a little bit about yourself? I see that you've been banded for a while. I'm very interested in how you've done on your banding journey. Like what was your beginning weight, current weight, NSVs, any type of band related problems along the way. How many fills have you had? What is your current fill amount? How has your life changed since you've been banded? What things do you do now that you couldn't do preband? Anything else that you think would be helpful to new bandsters. Thanks so much!

Wow...I can't wait to have NSV's!
-
Sarah, I love your NSV. I can't wait until I have some of my own!
-
Those are all fabulous! Thanks for sharing. I haven't been keeping a solid list of NSV's so far, but I think I'm going to start as they seem to be happening more often now hehe.

:uwelcome: you only ate one bunny! Excellent NSV! I mean, you could have eaten a whole herd of them before right? (what is a collection of rabbits anyway?)

Congratulations on both the weight loss and the loss in sizes. I know that when I get stuck and not lose weight for awhile I do realize that my clothes are a little looser. I have gone from 3X shirts to Medium shirts, form size 56 pants to 36 pants. The greatest NSV is that I am no longer diabetic and no longer have sleep apnea or pain in my back or my knees.

Congratulations Holli! Often the NSV's mean more than the number on the scales! Keep up the good work!

If you're having heartburn, you need to see your doctor. That can be a major red flag that you're too tight. So, give your doctor a call. Congratulations on the NSV!!! -
WHHooohoooooo! I am down 7 lbs, I only have 4 more to go to be under 300 lbs. Can I get a Whot Whot!!! Hell Yes. I have worked out everyday and I feel great. It gets so much easier when you do it everyday. My dd is doing so good and working out with me. "Small nsv" we went to the store today to get the last few things I needed for surgery. We went past the cookies, and my ds said "mom lets get cookies", Before I could say anything My dd piped up and said "Kaleb, thats not very healthy". All I did was smile. We then went and got yogurt instead.. I went and had my "last supper" today. I went to cici's for cinn rolls. I did good and had a big salad with low fat dressing and 3 cinn rolls. That will be the last time I ever have a cinn roll from cici's. I will never go back... I tried on a pair of shorts today and could not get them buttoned but I did get them over my hips.. LOL they are safe in my dresser and waiting till the day I can put them on, button them, and have lots of room to move... I have 7 days left... Yeahhhhh This waiting is KILLING me. While I wait: 1 1/2 hours on cross trainer 300 crunches 100 leg lifts 3 sets 15 curls 3 sets 15 press DD 20 mins cross trainer 100 crunches 50 jumpin jacks 28 leg lifts

The other day, I had 3 people stop me to tell me they can see my weight loss. I am able finally to walk some distance without my cane :crutch: :clap2: And my drawers are getting droopy:clap2: :clap2: I've really been waiting to see a difference in my arthritis pain and getting to the point where I didn't have to depend on my cane, I'm getting old, but I hate looking like an old woman with that thing.

What a great nsv, congrats!

Today I had a shower, as I normally would. When I stepped out and dried myself off, I realized..I could wrap an average size bath towel around my entire body! What a great feeling!

Got to love those NSVs! Congrats!

Social media piks
JennsJourney replied to 4u2nvyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought long and hard before sharing on social media but I felt like it might help others who might be on their own weight loss journey. I made my announcement about 2 weeks after surgery. (I waited until after surgery because I didn't want those comments that might discourage me.) I have only posted about 4 or 5 progress photos (and I'm 5 1/2 months post-op) but what I have posted more are my NSVs (non-scale victories). And I can't tell you how many people have messaged me and talked to me in person and said how much it has encouraged them to watch my journey. I had no idea how sharing this part of my life would impact others but it definitely has! I think it is a very personal decision whether to share such a personal journey but for me, it has been a blessing. And I have received such sweet compliments and encouragement on those days when I get frustrated. Hope that helps!
