So hard to believe it was 10 weeks ago today, we just got back from a 7 day cruise where I took baby bites of pretty much anything I wanted but I didn't overstep anything because I definitely didn't want to spend my vacation sick. I'm so happy to say I lost 4 lb on our seven day cruise which puts me at a total of 69 pounds lost in 10 weeks. I am so excited about the weight loss my surgeon seems definitely very pleased and knock on wood I haven't had any sickness I did have about a 20 to 30-minute bout with the foamies. Which was not very pleasant whatsoever and I researched it to kind of see what could have caused it. So I hope everybody is doing well good luck with everybody that's on either side of the bench and just keep up the great work. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

Milestone Rewards?
Naughty Glitter Goddess replied to Bootscraper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this idea! I tried this a long, long time ago on one of my many failed weight loss plans. (when I gave up at the 10-15 lb mark) I think I'll resurrect it just in time for my surgery tomorrow! I tend to prefer fashion, spa or skincare incentives - looks like you have plenty of those already. Travel is at the top of my list right now - we're taking our kids to Disneyland for the first time next August (ages 6 & 9) since I'll be able to fit on the rides for the first time since their adoption. Hubby and I are planning a trip to Kauai for our anniversary next December as well. I think I'll make my goals small items that I'll need for those trips. Also plan to steal some of your great ideas - especially the fitness related ones! -
Thanks so much! I actually lost 10 pounds since this post!

June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!
Snapple replied to gully90's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a Fitbit and I make an effort to walk a minimum of 6000 steps per day and next week I'm going to raise that to 7000. I've been trying to raise it by 1000 steps every week. For me I've found that it's best to do this in the morning or I sit and obsess and procrastinate all day long about doing it if I don't. And I feel SO much better you have no idea. This coming from someone with Rheumatoid Arthritis who hasn't walked more than 3000 steps per day in at least 10 years. -
I was always very regular. Toward the end of the mostly liquid pre-op diet, my BMs became infrequent, and hard! After surgery, I think it was 10 days before I had a movement, and it was a struggle. I started taking a stool softener/laxative combo (2/day), plus Metamucil (3/day). Today is 11 weeks out for me (wow!). I'm still not a daily "goer" anymore, but it's getting better. And it's not a chore when I go anymore. I'm still on the softener/laxative + Metamucil regimen. Hopefully that's not forever. I will admit, the more that I walk the more regular I am. Movement really is the key to movement. Hee.

I climbed 10 flights of stairs in 3 minutes without stopping. I did this twice! Afterwards I did interval training on the treadmill for 15 min with squats then 40 minutes on the weight loss interval training program level 10 for 40 min on the elliptical.

My very first, on my own concert was a doozy. A local band named Shed opened up for what's now one of my favorite groups Monster Magnet who opened up for... Korn. This was 94/95, I believe before Korn's album was actually released, tickets were $10 LOL

Here we go .. goodbye band hello rny

I’m having a band to bypass revision on September 18. Had this awful band for 10 years. -
Yeah you are right about White Castle, they are v the sneaky, type of Sliders. Midwest Joke How can you, tell a White Casle fiend? Answer- They have 5 little holes in. their 😝 tongue! Now to explain to you in benighted areas. White Castle's meat patties are fashioned with 5 little hole so they cook quickly. Now they have expanded to a few. other sandwiches, onion rings and things that go well with those little chopped onion- blessed critters. They are also known as "cab driver steak" when you're driving a cab they are cheap and quick. Don't take much time away from hauling fares. How do I seem an expert on White Castle? I lived in Columbus for 10 years, about half of those within a few blocks of the 1st at the corner of N High St and W Dodridge, sad to say it is no longer, like the song "they paved paradise and put up a parking lot" but White Castle lives on. For the desperate you can buy them frozen at Kroger's and Wal-Mart. And alas where I live in Mount Vernon, 48 miles NE we DO NOT HAVE a White Castle. We go to Delaware maybe 25-29 miles WSW when we want fresh and don't want to go into Columbus.🍔

Antibiotics before surgery
James Marusek replied to sasa_maria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suspect that it will not. 10 days + Aug 14 = Aug 24 < Aug 28. You will probably be given antibiotics while you are in the hospital. But you might alert your surgeon's office to make sure which is what you plan to do. -
I didn’t go for almost a week post op. Between the high protein diet, the anesthesia, opiates, they’re all going to cause constipation. Stool softeners didn’t help me, I also had to use an enema. It took me 10 days post op to become regular again. Good luck

No Immune system 5 years post Op

@James Marusek Weather history, pattern mathematics, why cats naturally like to be petted, the log cabin playhouse for your grandkids, how pneumonia was the real killer during the 1918-19 flu pandemic, etc. So much to enjoy on your site. I was able to relate to your battles with your insurance carrier. In all fairness, though, I eventually received help from someone from our university system (of Missouri) who was able to jump over various gatekeepers and talk directly to the higher-ups and resolve everything in a day. Also and, of course, thank you for your service. -
I found this today actually because I was getting ready to reorder. https://www.southernsurgical.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/RYGB-VITAMIN-COMPARISON.pdf I am currently on the Celebrate 45 Multi bandwagon. 2 chewable vitamins a day + 3 chews. That's it. I decided to try the Opurity stuff, since it was on the approval list. 1 chewable multi-vitamin a day + 4 chewable calciums + 1 Vitamin C/Iron pill. A little bit more pills, but it is like half the cost. Knowing the ingredients are not from China gives me a little bit of comfort. I noted on the chart that the Flintstones scored quite badly. Maybe print this out and see what your doc says?

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion

Hi! I'm having my lap-band removed September 13th and once healed I will have the sleeve done. I have been banded for 10 years and I am so nervous. I am nervous that a million things could go wrong and that I might not be able to get the sleeve. My surgeon told me that it would be a two step process so I know its not going to get done in the same day but I am just so worried I would be able to get another bariatric surgery. Before I was banded I weighed 295. My lowest weight with the band was 164. Last Summer I started having issues where my food was getting backed up in my esophagus and making me vomit. My band can no longer take fills. I actually gain weight still with fills. I now weigh 214 pounds. I was hoping maybe somebody is in the same situation as me or have done this as well and can be my support. My family is a great support but obviously they have never had a bariatric surgery before so none of us know what to expect.

Banded 11 years ago and just starting to have problems
stacey8220 replied to Kingb40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi! I have been banded for 10 years - and September 13th my band is coming out. I am happy - yet I am sad. It's been in my body for 10 years and I have lost a lot of weight with it until this past year. When I first was banded I weighed 295, I got down to 164 and now I'm at 214. I was rapidly gaining even with fills. I had several barium swallow tests which showed food stuck up in my esophagus. My port has been bothering me as well as its right under my rib cage. Once the band is removed I will give my body time to heal and I will have the gastric sleeve. At first I was against having my band out but now I know I have to get this out as its just causing me more problems -
I had a root canal today and I'm supposed to start my two week preop liquid diet tomorrow.. I'm on antibiotics for 10 days and my surgery is on the 28th.. Will the antibiotics mess with my surgery? I'm going to call tomorrow but now I'm worried I won't be able to have my surgery on the 28th. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I had my surgery at 10 am today it went really well!! When I woke up I was very nauseous and threw up/coughed up blood a few times (sorry tmi but wanted to share my experience) they stated that was normal because of the tube in my throat. I also had bad chest gas pain so I started walking about 45 minutes after surgery in the recovery room. The nurses were pretty surprised so I guess that’s good 😀 then they moved me up to my room where I walked again, since then I have switched between walking and sleeping most of the time and I am having very little gas now and my stomach pain is very small, about a 2 out of 10. I am so happy with my experience so far! I felt bad for my neighbor as they had the surgery as well and were begging for food or water. I am not sure they understood they wouldn’t be eating today. But I haven’t felt hungry yet! I brought dry mouth spray and that has been a life saver!

Just got approval!! Any October sleevers out there?
sleevemebaby7781 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just found out that my insurance approved surgery!! I won't be able to have surgery until October because of my work schedule. Anyway, I really wasn't getting my hopes up in case insurance didn't approve it, but now it's real omg. I'm nervous and excited and would love someone to be buddies with through this. Any takers? I'm 37. I have 4 kids (14, 11, 4 and 2) and I'm a teacher. I am starting with a BMI of 40 exactly with no comorbidities. Anyone out there with similar stats? Even different stats but you are having surgery in October? My date is 10/4. Sent from my SM-G892U using BariatricPal mobile app -

How long did someone help you at home after surgery?
SleeveinIL replied to MK686's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had help from my hubby for about a week. The main thing I needed assistance with was the blood thinner shots I had to be on for 10 days. I could have done them myself, but I preferred to have someone else do it. -
I finally got my surgery date for Oct 29th. [emoji1430][emoji1430][emoji1430] I'm so excited! Looking back, would you do/buy anything different to prepare yourself, family, or household? Any insight is appreciated! Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
