Call your nutritionist and discuss alternatives. Greek yogurt is a high source of Protein, smashed Beans or refried beans may also be acceptable if you thin them out with a bit of broth. Just call the nutritionist and brain storm. That's what you paid them for.

My doctor did not want me to start soft foods until week 3 and said not to eat yogurt, pudding or jello due to swelling in the stomach. I really do enjoy the Nectar protein drinks, they are very similar to Kool-Aid; apple, strawberry and cherry are my favorite so far. I know that you can get samples for $2 each and there are like 12 different flavors to choose from. I am 4 weeks post op and just now trying to eat solids. I tried a small piece of bread, which was a big mistake. Pasta did not settle too well either. I spent the weekend vomiting foods that did not agree with me. I will say that string cheese is awesome and I also do the sugar free carnation instant breakfast with 1% milk. Good luck!

I am doing pretty good. Started pureed this week. The only thing I have found that taste good and my sleeve likes is cottage cheese and string cheese. I had an egg last night and it tasted good but I felt sick after, same thing tonight with refried beans. I guess I'll stick to yogurt and cottage cheese. The great news is I have lost 24 pounds in the 16 days since surgery!!!

naomi1009 replied to Jnizzi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I made bean soup and added extra lean ground turkey blended it all together to make it creamy and so far I love it is delicious....also fat free Greek yogurt has been working great for me......I added the turkey for extra protein since I'm only eating 4 oz of it once or twice per day that way I can get to my protein intake of 60 to 70 grams per day. -
refried beans with cheese melted on top 1/4 an avocado some salsa and beanito chips are my go to breakfast. with a snack tube of siggi's yogurt an hour later.
-
chicken salad, tuna salad, and fat-free cottage cheese were my main ones. Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt. Refried Beans with cheese.

I can't drink any protein! Help
Kristy Haugen Oliver replied to Kristy Haugen Oliver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't drink them because they all upset my stomach and then go straight through me. It's awful! I've tried making them with almond milk. I've tried pretty much all the pre made kinds. I thought it was the dairy because yogurt and cream soups do the same thing. So I tried the almond milk and the Isopure. They all went right through me. I'm not getting hardly any calories and what I do get dumps immediately. -

Do you have this same problem with other full liquids like strained cream soups? What about yogurt? -
I had kind of the same problem... I just had to take my proteins in small amounts.. Thought out the day.. Putting it in my soups and yogurts.. It's a struggle at first but remember to try every avenue

working out and not losing weight
Essence46 replied to trulyamazingtoo's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I agree with the other commenters. This has been my struggle so I definitely understand. You aren't eating enough calories so your body is holding on to everything for dear life. LOL! Plus you are only 10 weeks out which is still early. I would suggest eating something every two hours. Yogurt. Fruit. Protein bars. Nuts. Jerky. Boiled eggs. Veggies. I know it is hard while still trying to get in your Water though. Good luck. -
Also, I subscribe to the "eat full fat or nothing at all" thought... Full fat cheese, yogurt, mayo, real butter, oils, etc....that will help get your calories up, also. And they taste better than the low fat fake stuff they try to push....

I need food ideas. Had RYN 7 weeks ago and am still clueless
patrickm613 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello all, I am really at a loss. I have been drinking Protein drinks, tons of Water and eating yogurt. I don't know what to make when it's just for me. It's easier to cook for a larger group than just one very small meal. My family makes meals that include lots of Pasta, rice dishes and non-protein items. When I can't find what I need to eat, I snack small amounts. I need to make an individual shopping list but I need ideas to help me move forward. I am questioning myself on how I am going to do this for the rest of my life. Ideas? Thanks -
You could try going to bed a little earlier, or taking power naps at lunch. Make sure to get a source of Protein at Breakfast. I am not back to work yet, but do plan on yogurt, SF Jello, laughing cow cheese, deli meats, chicken salad, nuts, Protein Bar or shakes.

Don't like to grocery shop any more...
TheNewMeTX replied to djay210's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
During my pre-op and full liquid phase post-op, the food that made me angry was Oscar Meyer Hard Salami. My daughter (14 and thin) and I loved to eat it in my old life. I made her leave the room to eat it. Thankfully, she was very understanding. So far the only other times I've had difficulty were at social gatherings with a variety of foods - At Church in particular, I had shared I had surgery but did not share what kind of surgery. My loving Christian companions kept offering me food, and I kept saying no. By the end of it, I was exhausted and mad. It wasn't even about the food (breakfast). I haven't been able to eat eggs since the surgery, so the thought of trying makes me green. A few weeks later and eating some solid food, I still want the salami, but it doesn't make me angry. I figure eventually the social gatherings with food won't bother me as much either. I've never enjoyed grocery shopping. My vice was always fast food with high frequency. Now I go to the grocery store every few days for fresh produce and meal planning. It still takes me a while because I'm reading labels for the first time. The variety of yogurt and low-fat this or that is insane. -
I like those flavored salmon packets, I find them where I find the tuna, as well as tuna salad, chicken salad, or light thin sliced deli meat with a laughing cow wedge. I eat them all with a portion (5) of whole wheat crackers (crackers were approved by my nut). I also pack snack things like the light baby bell cheese, no sugar added fruit cups, boiled eggs, greek yogurt, cottage cheese with sugar free jelly, hummus, Protein drinks/bars, low fat Jerky. Good luck going back to work! I went back at 4 weeks and was still feeling extra fatigued and was not ready to go back mentally at all. I deal with chronic fatigue anyways though so it wasn't anything new. =) But it didn't take me long to get back into the groove of things. You will do great!

Another trick I use is to make all my Snacks protein-based – nuts, meats, Jerky, Greek yogurt, cheese, etc. As long as I'm not eating carbs, they don't seem to affect my weight loss because they don't throw me out of ketosis.

Protein shakes, for sure! Also yogurt, and cottage cheese were my staples!

GENEPRO by musclegen doesn't taste like anything!!!! I bought mine from lucky Vitamin.com with buying two bags it was $60 free shipping. It basically comes to $1 a day if you use 1 serving a day. It's 98 calories, 1 tablespoon serving. I add it to Greek yogurt so I get 42 grams of Protein in one sitting. (Some people think you can only absorb a certain amount of protein at once both my nutritionist and my surgeon told me that was absolutely ridiculous) at 42 grams I only have to eat 18 more grams of protein a day to reach my goal of 60. You can also get two samples of the Genepro off their website for $3.50. It's a fantastic product you can't beat!!!

5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
samuelsmom replied to nugirl402's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When healing it is important to think long and hard about what you eat. O full liquids, greek yogurt is included so that is fine. Once you get past that, things get a little dicey. You will find that surgeons do the post op eating plans a little different because there is no proven "right" way to do it. That being said there are a few things that are constant MOST of the time- the first week after surgery usually ranges between liquids and a very soft consistency (like a scrambled egg) depending on the surgeon. Progress from one stage to another is slow and as tolerated with the understanding that we all heal at different rates. I have not heard of one plan that allows bacon in the first week! I would highly recommend talking with the nutritionist and the surgeon. I would also highly recommend not eating bacon so soon post-op. It is an unnecessary risk. -
Two weeks post op! Pureed ideas? April sleevers
Flairness replied to Jnizzi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've not been able to enjoy anything until retried Beans. Had some today and it was wonderful. Scrambled eggs, which I loved before surgery, are very "meh" after surgery. After surgery I hate the fake sugar taste, so I haven't been able to enjoy light yogurts or SF Popsicles. Strangely, SF Jello is pretty decent. So, short answer is that I'm going to be eating a lot of retried beans in the near future. -
Hi, I advanced to the pureed phase today of the plan. I did 3 weeks of pre op and 1 week post op of clear liquids. I am now on pureed for 3 weeks and so excited!! Im down 27 lbs. But, my issue is today when I ate my pureed, yogurt, soup etc I did not feel full. I am compliant and drinking my water with no issues also. I called my NUT and she said some people do not get that full feeling during the pureed stage. Has anyone else.experienced this? I feel great today, even used a timer to wait 2 min before bites etc. I almost dont feel "sleeved" but I know I was.

I use benefiber and it seems to work great. I take it once or twice a day (depending on how I feel). I add it to my Protein shakes, coffee, or just Water. You can mix it into yogurt or even apple sauce. I can't tell its in anything. Can't taste it and it completely dissolved. Give it a whirl!

SIPS - stomach intestinal pylorus sparing
ShellMilliner replied to jennalia's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@MaggieinNC - I'm not that far out from my surgery (just over 4 weeks) and most foods that I've tried at this t don't give me any problems. Every doctor varies their plan a bit with foods and timing but this was/is my post-op schedule. Once cleared with the swallow test you begin days 1-3 on clear liquids. broth, SF Jello, SF popcicles, Water (you can add crystal lite, lemon, etc...) Days 4 -14 Full liquids. Cream of wheat or rice, SF applesauce, yogurt, Protein shakes, cream soups (strained), ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, milk, some pureed fruits or baby food, scrambled egg, mashed sweet or white potato Days 14 - 31 Soft foods (think things that can be cut easily with the side of your fork or spoon). Shredded chicken, tuna, egg salad, crab, fish, shrimp, scallops, mango, soft fruits without skin or seeds, softened veggies (cooked carrots, green Beans, squash). NO raw veggies, nuts Regular diet - Try only one new food at a time (chew, chew, chew and eat slowly). Remember to limit carbs and focus on protein first, veggies, then carbs. I have sampled several things but I haven't tried steak yet. I still seem to need my meats very moist. I usually eat chicken breasts or seafood. I did have boston market meatloaf the other day and my tummy wasn't happy afterward. I'm guessing they use a lot of fillers in their meatloaf mix. I was at the Kennedy Space Center yesterday and for lunch I ordered a cheese burger, no bun, with grilled mushrooms and onions. It was a bit dry so some mustard and mayo helped. I was able to eat about 3-3.5 oz. Feel free to message me if you want to talk directly. Congratulations on your decision! Best, Shell
