    weekly weigh-in

9-22-06 Well, my ticker has resumed moving towards the right. Yippee!! I also have an NSV for this week. I weighed myself this morning (always do on Fridays) and had to adjust my ticker. Then when I was getting dressed, I had this crazy idea. I went through my bag of "I'm too fat to wear these" clothes. I pulled out a pair of size 22 petite jeans and decided to try them on. I kept telling myself "they probably won't fit, I just want to see, it'll be okay if they don't." But they did. I put them on, zipped them up and buttoned them. I didn't even have to jump up an down to get the zipper up or lay flat to do the button. AND I can still breathe. I am just grinning from ear to ear. I've only had a fill for two day and I'm still on liquids. I have to stay on liquids for a whole week until the 27th. This makes my mom upset because she knows I won't be cooking dinner for a week. Since she doesn't cook except on special occasions (like Thanksgiving) that means she gets a lot of peanut butter sandwiches. I think that most of weight loss for this week should be attributed to Curves. I just realized that I am only 10 lbs. away from my next mini-goal! I've already decided which print I want and where it will be hung. This is the link: http://www.vangoghmuseumshop.com/ProductDetail.htm?productId=9110 and just below is my newly updated ticker. Wahoo.

    September's Chat

We ate at cheddars and the waiter had helped us before and remembered that my daughter likes Ranch for her fries. He also remembered that I can't have the broccoli casserole, it comes with the meal and he offered a sub, he also got a very nice tip. I went to Petsmart and returned the sweater that I had bought for the puppy, we have pretty much given up on finding him. When we return from Disney we are going to look for either a Pug or Boston Terrier or a mix of the two. I would also consider a shnauzer (sp?) I am looking for something less than 25 pounds that is good with kids and known to be a good family dog. I love the face of the pug and the ears on the bostons. I would love a little tea cup anything but I know that would be a bad choice with Abigale. We also looked into Italian Greyhounds, but they are soooo fragile and hard to potty train. Anyone have any other suggestions? We really want to get something soon, like before the weather gets too bad to really work on potty training. I would also like something to be "at home" here by the holidays. On a sadder note, I think my older cat is taking a turn for the worse. He has lost weight, that was a good thing, he was very heavy when we adopted him, but now he is getting too thin and he is looking really bad. I don't think he is going to make it through another Christmas, he is almost 9 and was overweight his entire life, he has spine problems but seems to be mobile with no pain right now, he has a history of bowel problems, but those are all resolved with better food and lots of Water. He is just not himself lately. I was putting laundry away this morning and he never even looked up at me, he is normally Mr attention. I guess age and the medical problems are taking their toll on his poor body. He is my baby and I will miss him terribly when he is gone. The vet says there isn't much we can do for him except keep him comfortable and give him lots of love, we might have another 4 months with him. It's hard to watch him slowly going but I know that the last 3 1/2 years have been good for him and I plan on making each and everyday just as good. Sorry to bring evryone down but I needed to vent. I am sure that I will feel better tomorrow, but today was rough on all of us here. On a brighter note I am all packed. I unpacked some of my capri's and repacked some shorts in their place. I was affraid that the capris would be hard to get over a cast. Oh and a huge NSV, I bought 12's for this trip and they fit. I also managed to wear and 11 1/2 in juniors today, they were stretch jeans but they fit and looked good. I will check in tomorrow after I see the band doc, I am going for a slight unfill, my allergies are acting up and I am a bit too tight, I can actually feel my band when I lay down or if I drink anything super cold. It's weird. I'll let you all know how it goes. ~Mandy
  4. Carol...I had to laugh because I was just telling one of my friends that I need to go for a "wax" and she asked why I don't do it myself. I answered her "Because I can't see what I'm doing down there!!!" Now there's a weird NSV...the day I can wax my own bikini area!!! LOL!!! thanks for the chuckle!!

    July 2006 Band Crew

Thanks Leona! I really do feel better ! I can really see the before and after differance on your pictures! My middle is my trouble area too, it really is just so nice when it melts away.. and so much easier to buy clothes!! Congrats on the 14/16 shirt! A great NSV! Mary, Im sorry I always seem to miss you online! I've hired someone to come do a lot of my bookwork in my office most days so Im not on the computer as much as I was. Im finally getting time to do some other much needed and negected things. Its going to to be nuts timewise for me until the beginning of December. We have 5 construction projects going ... cccrazy. I will definitely let you know how the fill goes, and yes I need it BAD lol, last night I ate a peice of .. ugh dare I say this.. thick crust pizza with pepparoni and I didn't have a bit of a problem. I need to go shopping today for new tennis shoes, my feet seemed to have grown during my last pregnancy. I thought it was the extra weight but no, my feet are actually longer?? Before my first daughter I wore a size 7 shoe, then after I wore a 7 1/2-8, and now I think I need an 8 1/2. I was talking to my aunt on my fathers side and she said her feet have never stopped growing (she's thin btw) she said about every 7-8 years she goes up 1/2 a size. lol is my family weird or have any of you experience this? Im guessing the former lol. Well good luck exercising everybody! I hope everyone posts some kind of activitie today!! (big hugs)

    Keyboard/cubicle NSV

i find myself sitting on less "junk" also jack!!! congrats on YOUR nsv!!
  10. ok, so we had the towel wrap around NSV, and the shoelaces tied on TOP of the shoe instead of on the side of the shoe NSV, and now............................................... (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((DRUMROLL PLEEZ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) today, while sitting at my job(saltmines), pleasantly minding my own business in my cubicle, it occurs to me that my thighs are no longer wedged under my keyboard. i have, in the past, had my chair adjusted to the lowest setting...i might as well have been sitting on the floor...and the keyboard slide out little tray thingy set to the highest setting...which meant that when the thighs and the keyboard were aligned just right, it would often bump against the bottom of my desk top, sometimes completely ruining my document and sometimes my settings on my computer....errrhhhhgggg!! i had not even noticed that it was not happening anymore, until today!!! who would have thought that this would mean something to me??!! I never even considered it before!! anyone else have this NSV??!!

OMG I am so Em BARASSED.... literally the last part...

Yeah were the underware cute? If not go buy some cute underware and new jeans. Those people don't care about your butt, so you get back out there and let them see how cute your butt look in a new pair of fitting jeans. NSV :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Brandy ~ I know it's not funny, but you did make me laugh. Congrats on the somewhat NSV. Now as far as the tickets go, maybe you should trade them for some scarlet & gray tickets. Sorry, just couldn't pass that one up. That game was a nail biter & action packed for sure. I'm glad I was watching from the comfort of my lazy boy.

    Road to "TWOterville"

That's EXACTLY how I feel. Twoterville is a nice city compared to three-hundred-something but I'm not taking up residence. It's a long road through Twoterville. I've spent a couple of days being on the depressed side about that, but then an NSV will hit and pull me back to sanity. Twoterville is comparitively great Koala, come on over.

    Sunta NSV's

Hi Sunta, Congrats. Hi have also lost 50 pounds and experienced the same list of NSVs. To those I add: - Sitting in the car with seatbelt on and "searching" for my belly... - Walking at the track and realizing that my thights do not "rub together" anymore. Wouah!!! Ciao... for now.
  16. I finally got below 178. I'm down one pound! I've never worked so hard to lose one pound in my life. I'm hoping this is the end of a very lengthy plateau! NSV: The size 14 pants I was so excited to fit into are now baggy in the rear!
  17. Um, would you call that an NSV? LOL!!! I guess you seriously need to get yourself some new clothes...fast!! Don't worry, what are the chances those people will remember you at the next game?
  18. Most of my NSV's have happened...I have 30 to go to goal. However, AND NOT THAT I NEED OR DESIRE TO, I would like to have my tummy, apron, abdomen, whatever you want to call it.....get smaller so that I can actually look down and see my hootchie (as Carlene likes to call it). Don't know why....I think because if I could see my hootchie (LOL) I would know for sure that I have reached great weight loss success! OMG.....I am laughing so hard at myself....I have to go before I pee my pants. Carol

    Would just like to say....

***singing*** "...and the kneecap's connected to the thighbone..." Congratulations on a terrific NSV Sharyn. That's great work!
  20. I have had my lapband 6mths this week and I'm down 92lbs. So, what have I done/learned in 6mths with Elpeatha (that's my lapband's' name and it means 'hope')? I generally eat better. I take my time with my food. Partly because it's good for me and partly because Elpeatha won't let me do it any other way. I make better food choices and always think protein before I plan what I'm going to eat. Don't get me wrong, I screw up too - exhibit a) one extremely calorific (but utterly scrummy) banana milkshake last weekend. This trip is harder than I thought it would be. There is no (for me anyway) eating what I like but smaller amounts that I thought there would be. If I want this weight to come off then I have to give up many of the things I love and work hard. Leads me to exercise. I'm so much better than I was 6mths ago. I can walk around and go places without having knots in my stomach that I can't cope. I still have a long way to go before I will consider myself anywhere near fit but seeing the results is a great motivator to doing more. Buying a treadmill was the best thing I have ever done for myself . Now what I need is to push myself more. This is something I have never done before in my life (easy option girl, that's me). The weight was falling off but now it's stalled somewhat and I need to up the exercise . Not an easy one but I'll try. I've had loads of NSV's (posted elsewhere) and love them more than the scale. My only disappointment in this respect is lack of clothes falling off- I'm still wearing all my original clothes????????? But that will come too- eventually. I have loved and needed the support I have found online and the friends I have made who's love and concern for my well being is something I now treasure. And that's about it. The next 6mths beckons. I have to work even harder now to get to where I want to be but with all of you giving your support and encouragement I know I'll keep on trying. In 6mths I will have had my lapband a year and I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday . Maybe the old addage 'Life begins at 40' is true afterall? <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
  21. So since I decided on the band, and have a while to wait (december), I find myself thinking about the NSV's I can't wait to post. It's been really motivating thus far, had an odd one today that never occurred to me, wonder if any of you have the same experience. Anyone dread getting their hair cut? 1. Worrying when the lady tries to pump the chair up to her level, that the pneumatics might just fail, or worse the chair will give up with an exhausted psssssssssssssssssssssssh. I usually put my feet on the floor and push to give it a little help! 2. Being forced to sit in a chair facing a mirror for twenty minutes, don't know about the rest of you, I like looking in the mirror standing up, but sitting there two feet from it nonstop under a big black tarp, just brings up memories of that girl who turns into a giant blueberry in Willy Wonka! I look forward to getting a haircut, a pretty normal thing, without worrying about the chair working or having to face the willy wonka blueberry. It will be so great to actually see a healthy person looking back at me:clap2: .

    Sunta NSV's

Becky Congrats on doing so well. I love NSV's. They make transitioning from big to small a lot easier. How are fills coming? I've had two and would like to avoid another until I have lost at least 10 more pounds. (I hate the transition). Not to mention--I get stuck fairly often--and yet sometimes I can eat anything. Guess stress is my tightener.

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

I'm no longer on one of my hypertension meds....I don't expect to come off the other one though....even if (I mean when!) I get to goal....I've had hypertension since my early 20s (when I was thin). So, going off one of 'em I find to be a major NSV. Also, I bought a size 18 pants the other night and they fit!!! YEEEEHA. I fell in love with another pair of jeans and bought them at size 16....course I can't do 'em up...but I will soon enough...and then they will last me longer!

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Thanks Neenagh, My first NSV was that I came off of one of my hypertensive medications and that was only 20 lbs!!! I'm hoping that I will be able to come off of the other. My second was that I was able to fit in a pair of jeans that I couldn't before the surgery
