Ten pounds! Congratulations !!! Good luck with the bike ride. I pick up my eldest daughter tomorrow from St. Louis. 9 hours driving total. Lots of stairs, carrying boxes. So much easier without 100 extra pounds on me. Youngest daughter comes home next Thursday from Spain. Can't wait! Today my food is bacon and yogurt for Breakfast, a salad for lunch, and meatballs for dinner. Going to the gym to learn how to use an elliptical machine today. Then maybe a movie (no crapcorn) and an early bedtime to hit the road by six am. If I don't check in before Sunday, happy Mother's Day to all!

Starting Week 3 - anyone else ?
OregonTeacher replied to Band07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started week 3 on Tuesday. I am still drinking one Protein shake per day to make my minimum protein requirements. Other than that, I have been eating cottage cheese, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, cream of chicken Soup, cream of potato soup, Greek yogurt and egg whites. If I am low on protein, I will also drink 1/2 cup of beef consomme' as it has 5 grams of protein in it. I am looking forward to adding some fish and such in starting a week from Sunday! As for how often, it seems like I have to eat/drink non-stop to get near my requirements in. It is definitely a full-time job. -

@@MichelleTN How are YOU doing? I hope your well. I am feeling better than ever! I had my 2wk fup, y'day which went really well. 6 days more of liquid diet. I was cleared to do the Greek Yogurt as well. I am two pounds away from finally being under 200! ( ???? )!! I haven't been that since before my first daughter. I had my Staples removed and have healed well. I can now begin an increased exercise regimen so all in all I'm ecstatic. I'm so energetic lately and it feels wonderful. I thank my surgeon for giving me my life back and also BP for all the wonderful people I've met who have made this whole process that much easier. Please let me know how you are. My best, X's

Starting Week 3 - anyone else ?
TXMissy replied to Band07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am. I am eating soft foods. Lots of egg whites, tuna, low fat yogurt. It's getting better. If I can chew it up real goid I eat it. I love the jennie-o breakfast turkey sausage. I use a little bit of it (less than an oz) and mix in a couple of egg whites and scramble them up. Yummm!! -
I have found that 4-6 ounces of Protein is the right amount to keep me satisfied for about 3-4 hours. I can eat more of some items but dense protein (beef, chicken, seafood) fills me up and I stay satisfied longer. If I do yogurt or protein shakes I find that I am hungrier sooner.

Moving on to Solids!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to wishful_thinking's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started soft foods this week so I have tried Taco Bell pintos and cheese and scrambled egg, in addition to the yogurt and cottage cheese that counted for me under full liquids. After a grocery store run I want to try ricotta bake. I don't add tuna until next week. -
Back to work tomorrow :(
wishful_thinking replied to TealSister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my first week back at work and it's tough. I feel like I was so much more focused on my Protein and liquids when I was at home. But, I think it's just about figuring out a new routine. It may take a little trial and error to see what works best, it's a learning curve. But I'm sure we'll all get there! I've been packing a lunch bag with ice packs to store my Protein drinks, Water, yogurt, and Jello. I'm starting on solids next week so I hope it will get a little easier. I did have one day this week that I didn't get enough protein in and I didn't get many calories and I felt like crap. Lesson learned. This is all new to me... so still figuring it all out. -
@@judyoz Oh my! a WHOLE container of Chobani yogurt. (lol this made me snicker!) I can eat a whole container of light and fit yogurt!! And I was glad I did!! It really does go down pretty easily, and is a great way to get your Protein in. You are NOT a pig. Silly!!
-
Don't feel bad! Yogurt is kind of considered a liquid, so you can put away a little more. And Chobani is good!
-
I at a WHOLE container of greek yogurt in one sitting. No heavy feeling. It called "Chobani". Is was soooooo good. I tried mashed potatoes with chicken gravy at lunch and it sat like a lead balloon.

April 22'nd Gastric Bypass Buddies
Band07 replied to KalelsWifey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a mini bypass on 4/23, the first few days had gas pain and no energy. Went back to work Tuesday still no energy, 11 days post op ended up in the ER with severe dehydration, a UTI and pneumonia in both lungs Today though only two days later, I feel pretty good! Must be the difference being hydrated can make! I'm slowly slowly adding things to my diet, right now I have Protein shakes, yogurt, pudding, Jello, a few cream Soups and as of last night small amounts of cottage cheese. I weighted 185 the day of surgery, i was 173 this morning. -
light string cheese or those baybel light cheese in that red wax! a glass of milk is great too (although can't really put that in a bag lol) greek yogurt beef jerky i always keep Protein bars and shakes in my work desk just in case as well.

I was put on one of those liver shrinking diets I had to have yogurt only for three days. Don't be nervous lap band surgery is the easiest out of all the major surgeries no cutting of your insides.

clear liquids and full liquids
Inner Surfer Girl replied to MarceMonster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my surgeon's program, clear liquids are those you can see through (with the exception of a Protein shake and some protein Soup he allowed). Full liquids include liquids that are opaque (like smoothies without chunks, v8, milk), cream Soups, yogurt, and even cottage cheese. My program guide includes specifics and examples. Has your NUT or program provided you with a guide? -
Pureed Food
Inner Surfer Girl replied to perpetualwanderlust's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I moved from full liquid to soft foods this week. The first thing I got was pintos and cheese from Taco Bell. Yesterday I had some soft cooked green beans and a mashed up new potato. I just had a scrambled egg. I don't know what your puree requirements are but these might fit. I am still eating a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, soups, and protein drinks and shakes that are from my clear and full liquid stages. -
LOVE Siggis! Didn't know they had snack tubes!!! Where did you find those?I find them at my HEB store by all the kids yogurt tubes. They are in a white box. The tubes come in blueberry or strawberry flavor and are 5 grams Protein. Dang we don't have HEB in CA but I will keep an eye out.

I did not like baby food. I pureed: Soup, chicken salad, egg salad, Wendy's chili. I also had yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, hummus. I still drank 1 Protein shake a day to help make sure I got in my Protein.

Eating after exercise
JamieLogical replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Definitely aim for high protein when eating after exercise. I too am usually able to eat a bit more post-workout than other times of day. That's why I always workout before dinner, since that tends to be my largest and highest protein "meal" of the day. It also might do you some good to eat a small amount of carbs BEFORE a workout. My afternoon snack is usually greek yogurt with a little granola or kashi cereal mixed in. That's the only time I eat any real carbs and I find it helps fuel me through my workout a little better. -
Day 8 - Is puréed food too early
JamieLogical replied to daveylee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will likely be okay, since what you ate wasn't at all solid. I was allowed greek yogurt at 8 days post-op and that has a pretty similar consistency to what you ate, I would think. But I 100% agree with @Zoey716. You should work very hard to stick to your specific surgeon's/nutritionist's plan moving forward. There are real health risks involved with advancing too quickly through the food phases. -
I can't drink any protein! Help
JamieLogical replied to Kristy Haugen Oliver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It sounds like an issue with more than just Protein in if you can't do soups or yogurt either. Is there anything you CAN eat/drink at this point?
