I know, it's such a bad habit to weigh every day, and I usually don't. It just just on a whim that I decided to weigh today and seeing a 3 pound gain freaked me out! Lesson learned.

Water weight! take a deep breath and try not to dwell on it.
-
This happens to me too, but then 2 days later I get on the scale and lost it again! Probably not a good idea to weigh yourself every day. Closer to that time of the month I usually show a gain-but then lose it afterwards plus some.
-
Ok ok, I know I shouldn't be weighing myself more than once a week but I stepped on the scale this morning and I gained 3 pounds since Tuesday! How is this possible? There is no way I have eaten 10,000 extra calories in four days! I am freaking out slightly here...am I just overreacting?

I've been doing pretty good, but back when I had my first fill which made 1cc in a 4cc band. Did great had some restriction. Then I got another fill which made 1.25cc did great. Then I got another fill which made 1.5cc. Could only tolerate that for about 3 days. Was unfilled back down to 1.25cc. Did ok then the weight started going up and down. Went back for another fill up to 1.5cc again. I hung in there for 2 weeks but only had about 4 meals in that time and could barely drink Water. So had another unfill back down to 1.25cc. I did fine lost 13.9 lbs in those 2 weeks I was too tight. I knew I would gain some back from the unfill, but that was ok. I gained 5 lbs. After that I was losing. I lost the 5 I had gained back plus 2 more. But now, one morning I weighed 193.4 lbs. The NEXT morning I weighed 206.6 lbs. How do you gain 13 lbs litterally overnight? I have taken a couple of those lbs off, but....I don't understand. I watch what I eat and the amount and I exercise. I don't seem swollen. How much does everyone else have in a small band?

First congratulation on ur weight lose. Mine hasn't yet been that major hopefully soon. Looking to have gastric bypass in april.. Well l have been working at reaching my pre opp weight I lost that plus some. Well last Sunday I was sitting in church service while 5 men members were singing church songs I had my bra brake. Being that I have financal struggles. I didn't have funds to run out and buy clothes for the weightloss I made . I had to keep adjusting the bra trying to hold up my chest.(take note I went from ddd to dd ) and I quit in church service. Felt one was supported while one was free. Omg talk about wronge place and timing. -

New- June 1 RNY surgery date Any Buddies please?
rosey442 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I just joined the group. My daughter suggested it as she herself is a successful 5 year RNY bypass patient. From watching her I kind of know pretty much what to expect. The good and the bad. I am 57 years old and a single parent. As for myself, I didn't really start to have a weight problem until after having kids. Through the years the weight slowly piled on. On top of that I developed type 2 insulin dependent diabetes in my late 30's. My youngest was born after I became diabetic. I also have several other chronic conditions as well. The last 3 years I have been in and out of the hospital with septicemia, cellulitis, osteomyelitis, diabetic foot ulcers, two partial toe amputations on both feet and diabetic ketoacidosis. It has roughly been every 4-6 months that I've been in the hospital for at least 1 1/2 to 2 weeks followed by 4-6 weeks of IV meds via PICC line plus home nurse visits, OT and PT visits. It's only been the last 5 months that my blood sugars have really been under control and that my feet have been healed. I was finally able to go and see the bariatric surgeon and start the process to finally reach the goal of having RNY gastric bypass surgery. I received my surgery date approximately 3 weeks ago. I am now on the last day and a half of my liquid diet before surgery. the Protein powder that my daughter gave me is disgusting (she just laughed and told me to get used to it. HA) and is difficult for me to choke down. I need to try different brands to find one that is more palatable for me. My biggest problem is that I have healthy (I am a good cook, like to cook and like to eat and enjoy food) eating habits. It's just that my portions are way too big compounded by the last 3 years of not being able to walk as the wound care doctors wanted me off my foot as much as possible. So, I became more sedentary. And, voila! I gained weight and couldn't lose it. So here I am and the big day is almost here. My daughter will be taking me to the hospital and staying with me. My son-in-law will come to the hospital after the kids go to school. He's staying home with the kids while my daughter stays with me for a week. My oldest son will be coming also to the hospital. My youngest son isn't (both of my sons are autistc) sure yet. My neighbor will cook and watch over my sons for me until I come home. Now that I've introduced myself, I'd love to hear from others. I am extremely excited and a little nervous. But it won't be long. Monday morning at 5:30am. I've also been thinking about the walking and eating. Anyone else having surgery on the 1st? Anyone willing to be buddies with me? -
Hello, Lots of Concerns, This is a long one
carolyn24seven replied to Mary :)'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to VST. Your parents will be so supportive of your decision to take back control of your life. You are doing a positive thing for your continued healthy life. Stop with the shame/blame. This is not something you can do "by yourself" . Please start thinking of the sleeve as your new "tool" in the quest for a healthy life. Unless your parents have weight issues, and are the jealous types, you will most likely find them so supportive of your decision. Make the decision for yourself. Do not be bullied into this. The Dr.s tough love talk can be a catalest for action, but you must make this decision for yourself. Give yourself no excuses. Be very positive. Yes, there will be some fear and doubt, but, get past that, head up, clear on the goals ahead. Forward and downward! (scale joke) Confidence! -
Hello, Lots of Concerns, This is a long one

Hi Maddie! I think if your surgeon is STRONGLY recommending it then you should go for it. I know how if feels to be scared. I am scared too. I only have 2 more days.....so you know I am scared. But if you don't have the surgery and continue to loose this battle with weight (no pun intended)...then you will have too many possible serious issues to be so young. I think you parents would be scared but I believe they are scared for you now walking around carrying all of that extra weight. As a parent, when you kids are in pain, you are in pain! I think once you get happy...they will really be happy for you. Good luck with your decision. -
HELP! Started mushies today.....
wifeof46pilot replied to texasgal2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Feb 21 2008 and I started mushy foods too and have no restrictions. I cheated a little bit and had no trouble and still didn't feel full. It is hard to stick to mushy because I know I can handle regular food. Good luck I am just trying to focus on losing weight. -
Same thing started happening to me. I knew from past experience some would say it wasn't the weight loss it was my attitude so I did a little social experiment, I walked around with resting bitch face all day and still had more attention in one day than in the last 25 years of my life. People, both men and women, are attracted to what they see on the outside and smaller is more socially acceptable. I'm trying to not be pissed about it.

I Am So Thrilled For You! Behind You 100%!......sike
TwinsMama replied to dee.jay.bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are 4 of us close college friends in our group. We all have been both above and at our "ideal" (healthy BMI) weights over the years. 2 years ago (wow, time flew) friend A got RnY. She immediately told her family and then us. I fully supported her as I had been on the fence myself regarding WLS. Friend B was not for or against just really scared (she is our worry'er). Friend C for a really long time made snide comments about how "not healthy, easy, wrong, you must be rich" for her to have WLS. Friend C simply would rather be big than supportive of WLS. She doesn't know the facts and chooses to stay ignorant of them. Totally her choice. However, I did tell C that it is hurtful to A to constantly say those things, especially given that A was the only one of us with a co-morbidity (diabetes). C still does not agree with A's choice but at least does not make the snide remarks. Fast forward to today. I've made the choice and will be telling all of them in 2 days that I too am having surgery. C won't like or agree with it given her assumptions. The thing is...this is 100% MY decision, MY health, MY life, MY family I'm getting healthy for. I don't care what she or anyone else thinks and I hope Donna you are able to get to a point where you feel the same way. -

I am sort of in your boat. I haven't told many people I plan to have the surgery. Just my family and 2 of my friends. My best friend was happy for me, realizing that I have done all the research or I wouldn't even be considering this. She knows the struggles with my weight and health I have gone through. My other friend I'm not as close to but our kids are in a lot of the same activities. We've also done weight watchers together and she has always struggled with weight as well. She weighs more than I do but doesn't have health issues. Since I've told her, she has made comments like "I just couldn't do that - it's so drastic" and "I've heard that those seminars make it sound weight loss is hopeless without the surgery". Well, she is taking diet pills (who knows what's in them) and if she had a better solution, she would have lost the weight a long time ago. She is a very competitive person, which is why I struggled with telling her in the first place (and why we aren't close friends anymore). I realize that most of her "concern" is not concern for me, but concern that I may be successful at losing the weight and where will that leave her? I told her because I knew she would find out eventually and I've realized that I don't care about her issues. She can do the research and decide if this is something that is right for her. Or not. I've done my research and feel this is the best choice for me. My family and my BFF are in my corner. I'm not worried about the others who do not have my best interests at heart. -

Pre-Op Diet Confussion
horsegirl315 replied to VSHAWLEY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon doesn't require a preop diet, or preop weight loss, just clear liquids the day before. We have the same surgery date, by the way!! -
Congrats on Your Approval!!! I know for me I wouldn't change a thing. Good luck and see you around on the weight loss journey call life. Jon

weight loss plateau after sleeve? Is it normal?
joatsaint replied to Karen82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on your first NSV! The dreaded plateau! And yes, you can expect to see several of them in your future. In the past 18 months, I've gone through so many I lost count. It's a normal part of the process as your body adjusts to your new way of eating. One thing I've learned, if I just stick with my eating plan and walking, eventually the weight loss will start again. And yes, it is frustrating as Hell to have to wait it out! -
Question To Old Timers
O.T.R. sleever replied to vnjones's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
All the reasoning and advice you are seeing above is great. I'd also like to add that the people you are seeing with the big numbers being posted also had much higher start weights/BMI. I'm not sure what your goal is, but, I'm looking at 178 after 3months thinking that you really are probably right on track As far as the snacking, I'd just plan it out, it's actually best for your body to eat very small amounts throughout the day. So what I would do is measure out snacks to be eaten through ought the day & plan them every 2 hrs or so instead of eating them as a meal. Your primary concern is your total daily consumption. Snacking is completely fine as long as it is planned into your diet. Own your habits -
I am 3 pounds from my goal weight. I still have 6 weeks to lose it before I see my surgeon, but I have been stuck for 2 weeks. What can I do. I can’t loose this opportunity.

Sleeve or bypass
Heatgirl03 replied to Frenchie1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am starting the process as well. I guess it depends on your weight as well. My surgeon recommended me for sleeve surgery because my BMI is 41. I was looking at both but I do not like the fact of "dumping". That just scares me! (Good Luck) Have you spoken to your surgeon yet? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I celebrated when I dropped under 200 lbs, too! I had despaired of ever being able to lose that weight before the surgery! Congratulations! I know how good it feels.
