Please remember to update your information, (weight changes, fills, etc.) in the "August 2006 ~ Running Totals and Updates" thread in the General Lap Band Discussion section. Cheers to the ABC!!! NSV!!

Today when I was getting ready for work I realized I desperately needed to do laundry. The only clean "work" shirt I had left was the one I wore in my "before" pictures. I've been avoiding wearing it since then. I didn't want to put it on and not be able to tell a difference. NOT a problem! As soon as I put it on, I could tell it felt looser around the arms. And around what passes for my waist. I practically skipped to work. BTW: I'll be updating my ticker tomorrow. This morning was much too hectic.

Leona - we were banded the same day...I, too, can't believe it's almost 3 months! I am 3 lbs away from 60 and I hope to be there by October 5th... Beth - I'd definitely get your stomach checked out. I don't think it could be the port this far out from your surgery. Arcael - congrats on the great grades and the new look! Be proud of yourself  Kari - Just what are those rules about rough sex LOL  Greetings to everyone else and congrats on all the NSV's!!

Huge NSV!!! So I was at work today and they started a "biggest loser" contest. Everyone donates 10 dollars and the highest percentage of weight lost wins the pot. So of course i'm in. I've been riding my bike and doing the elliptical. I SWEAR to you that 3 people came up to me today telling me I was so skinny I didn't need to lose weight? It felt fantastic but it's hard for me to believe them. I am still 15 lbs from goal but I do feel great about myself. But someone actually called me skinny...and wondered why I was trying to lose weight. THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!

Yah, I was totally pleased. Oh, I said, do you really think I'm losing weight too fast? Why do you say that? I must have made him repeat it about 3x. Of course I still haven't got my act together to buy a scale or a measuring tape so all I can go on are the NSVs, eh. I am now officially allowed mushies so I bought some hummus in a can. I'm gonna make myself scrambled eggs with cheddar and salsa. First time I've cooked since I've been banded. Now that's gonna be weird!

Slowly but surely this band is actually doing its thing!!! I am still totally amazed at how full I get in just a few bites...I have learned over the last couple days that when I start to feel uncomfortable when I eat and feel like something is trying to get stuck to take a huge deep breath and hold it as long as possible and it really does help me...I have been doing my 30 minute workouts everyday except for today when I only got 20 cuz my son had a major life threatening problem with his playstation 2 that I just had to address right then, but thats ok!! It makes me so happy to step on that scale each morning now and see a little difference...I have been adding it up and if I keep going at this rate I should have around a 10 lbs loss for this month (I can certainly deal with that)...The only bad thing is that my uniform pants from work are just about to that stage where they are going to fall off me...Everytime I stand up I am yanking on the legs or the waist to make sure they stay up...Good thing is that we put in orders for new uniforms about 3 weeks ago and are just waiting on them to get to us...So from my 4x shirt I ordered a 3x (i still like big comfy shirts) then I went from a mens 50x34 to a 46x34...Of course we didnt have anyone measure us out for our sizes so I just had to guess...I hope that I did the right thing on the sizes or I am just out of luck for a while...Maybe in several more month and several more sizes down I will even be willing to tuck in my uniform shirt...I guess that would be a great NSV for me!!!

My NSV happened shortly after I read about Woodys's and Choe's. My husband told me he thought I was losing weight too fast! Hah! This means that he sees weight loss and that's a good thing.
  15. Well done everyone! Wheetsin - thats the nsv I want!! not having to ask for an extender belt on an airplane!!! way to go... I got my first fill today, he put in 3mm in a 9mm band although he says the most he would ever fill it to was 7mm. He's really pleased with my progress, although I know my weight has been the same since end of august, by there weigh ins i've lost 7lbs!! since I last saw them. I was feeling as if I had come to a standstill and was doing sooo badly but when I stood in that office with other people who were waiting for there first fill and they had gained or not lost anything at all, although i was sad for them it made me very happy and proud to realise that I had actually achieved 39lbs loss, so pat on the back to me....LOL

Hi Brandy, Congrats on your NSV. All of us July'ers stick together. So keep in touch. Way to go Chris. I'm so proud for you. Oh, what I wouldn't give to be back in College and young again. Oh, shut up Sherri, your old and don't you forget it. Yeah, I've got that little person on my shoulder that reminds me I'm prehistoric. LOL What's up Beth and Karik? How are you girls doing today? Great I hope. I have a little NSV myself. I was in 22's, no way I could wear a 20 blue jean in July. In fact, I wore 22's blue jean shorts to Mexico for surgery. Yesterday I bought my first pair of 18's. Yes, girls you heard me right, oh fatty got her big ole butt in a pair of 18's with room to spare. Have a great one everyone,

Congratulations, Cloe! That is a wonderful story. I am glad that your winter coat is now too big. I think that the NSVs drive home the fact of weight loss more than the scale victories for we are then experiencing weight loss in our daily lives, not just as numbers. And congratulations to you, Woodys. That is a huge NSV! You are incognito now.

So yesterday I brought up all the rubbermaid totes with all the winter stuff in them. I pulled out my winter coat that I bought at Penningtons last February. It was a beautiful coat, it was the kind I always wanted. Full length to the ankles, black, fur collar, comfy and warm. I wore it once last year for about 15 minutes. I put it on and well.......it hung on me like a garbage bag. I could have put someone else in it with me. I was actually sad because I loved this coat, however it is a NSV. It also made me think that just the past February I was in a totally different place, probably a depressed place, but little did I realize what was just around the corner.:bounce: :bounce: My consultation with Dr. Cobourn was in March!!

Can I just tell you this

Laura, that is a wonderful NSV. Congratulations! I think it is fun "going shopping" in my own closet and rediscovering things I haven't been able to wear in forever.

Schools going good so far, I think I'm around a 3.5 or better GPA this semester so that is awesome. I'm aiming for the big 100 before christmas NSV yesterday, I saw a friend from highscool while walking around campus. He said I was barely recognizable.

Pebbles, I'm glad you got your ice cream!! I bought a ben and jerry's 2 weeks ago and I nibble at it every now and again but its nice to have when I'm having a bad day and need a little pick me up! I'm also glad that you got out of the house for a bit, I get that way about staying at home too long too.....keep your chin up and congrats on the NSV!!!
  22. This is so fun! LOL THE CHAIR: My NEW hairdresser looked at me and pumped the damn chair up BEFORE I got into it and I had to climb onto it like a toddler climbing into a high chair. AND I'm 45 pounds lighter. I wonder what she'd have done 5 months ago. She was a skinny thing, about size 5, and the haircut was awesome. ELEVATORS & Planes: I step so lightly into an elevator so the don’t drop a few inches and then I tense up as the door closes as I am certain they just won’t be able to lift off with me in them. The same with airplanes, I am sure they tilt on my side of the plane, due to me of course. A long time ago in real small planes they’d ask me what I weighted before I got on so they could balance out the plane so my fear isn’t that far fear and aversion is bases on a real experience. OTHER NSV: Fearing the booth at a restaurant where I may be able to get into it, but I'm all squished up and my boobs hang over on the table and there is no room for a plate. It was so embarrassing. Not being the heaviest person in the room. That one just happened and it was weird!!! I wasn't sure what to do with the loss of that special distinction! I felt really odd. And like I said in my signature, pants with a ZIPPER!
  23. Howdy all! I got my 2nd fill on Friday- 1.8cc- total of 5.8cc. for the first 2 days, I'm thinkin', well crap, that didn't work, then, all of a sudden, day 3, badabing badaboom- houston, we have restriction!! This is what it's really supposed to be like! I am so totally stoked! am able to just have what I'm supposed to, and it lasts for hours! I have more energy, and, and, and, wow!! I've already lost 3 pounds- on my way to my turkey take off goal of 20! yay me! also a couple of NSV's- my cute hubby and I were snugglin one am and I had to have him move his leg cuz it was hurting my hip bone-- what? hip BONE? I have one of those? it was very cool. Then that night playing kick the can with the kids in the backyard and I WON!! yep, cought the kids and almost can outrun them! woohoo! I haven't felt this great in a long time - is it obvious? don't know what I'd do without this forum- you guys are great!! have a great day!
  24. NSV = Non scale Victory A "Way to go girl" kind of thing that makes you happy but does not involve the dreaded scales to enjoy......
