I started green tea after surgery, didn't do coffee again until 2 months out. But I had a quick surgery, no complications, kept it slow to see what I could tolerate. I don't do cream in coffee, but I have taken to putting half a scoop of GENEPRO in my coffee with stevia and Vietnamese cinnamon.

I have a scoop of Genepro protein (30g) powder in my decaf coffee every morning followed by Oiskos Triple Zero Yogurt (1/2 container has 7.5 g) for breakfast. For lunch I will have grilled chicken breast (2 oz gets me about 11g) and some cucumber so I don't go crazy from all protein all the time. For dinner I've been making soups or eating beans where I'll usually get 6-10 g. Depending where I fall for the day I will drink 1/2 of an Isopure icy orange (I am one of the few that can stand them) According to the app I use Lose It I average about 72 grams of protein a day.

Protein Shake Questions

Syntax nectar is like koolaid...comes in grape, cherry. Lemonade, iced tea, peach, orange and apple flavors (probably even more). And all very yummy. There are also several other Protein powder options out there besides chocolate.....cake batter, vanilla, banana, piña colada, cupcake, coffee, etc. You can add various Torani or Davinci syrups to Vanilla protein for almost unlimited flavor options...... Hazelnut, almond, raspberry, gingerbread, pumpkin pie, English toffee, etc. Muscle Milk, Quest, Syntrax and BSN Syntha 6 are all brands I like. As for GENEPRO, it is a highly modified molecule put out by a company that also sells "male enhancement" and "miracle" performance supplements. I have yet to find any independent research study that supports the manufacturer's claims. I consider it just another fad like so many failed weight loss pills and supplements. I'd rather stick with products that contain real protein. -
Protein Shake Questions
sbg224 replied to MOMMY2MGM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the ideas. I do like the way Bariatric Advantage chocolate tastes, think I will try a pudding when its time. I am pre-op, so trying to find something good, I will look up GENEPRO. I just got the chocolate jay robb and it does not taste much like anything, want to see what agrees with my stomach. Any other ideas are appreciated. Good luck to everyone -
Hey Prbaby28 -Welcome and Congrats. My husband is a fire fighter/EMT. It's amazing to me how everyone's journey is so different. I have to say I don't have any issues with food. My sleeve isn't bothered and mine just get's a little queasy if I eat to much sweets and then I eat some Protein and I am fine. I have only thrown up once. But I will say be careful when you go back to work and makes sure you drink your liquids. On my first day back I felt wonderful and thought I was Wonder Woman....I ended up in the ER that night dehydrated. I was just so busy getting everything done I didn't pay attention. I eat every 3 hours. Here's an example of what I eat. I used yesterday as an example I do eat oatmeal almost everyday. I didn't in the begging but found I got backed up and my nutritionist is fine with it as I still continued to lose. I also don' log or measure my food. I know a lot of people do and are successful so that's up to you. Again my nutritionist was ok with out me doing it. I get up at 5 am and have coffee with protein in it. I use GENEPRO . I think I started on coffee at 8 weeks. Workout 7 am Protein shake w/blueberries and strawberries (Either vanilla Premier Protein or Shakeology ) 9:30 oatmeal add Genepro usually only a half scoop 12:30 Salmon and coleslaw 3:30 1/2 apple with almond butter 6:30 pulled pork with cucumber slices Good luck- LA

Protein Shake Questions
NewNewMe replied to MOMMY2MGM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my surgery I could not stomach the protein shakes. My saving grace was Genepro. It will mix in anything hot or cold. It has 30g protein. The serving scoop size is small. I would mix it with crystal light, or soup broths when on liquids and in creamy soups later. When I got to soft food I put it in mashed potatoes and cream of wheat. For some reason I do stomach shakes again now. But Genepro was fantastic during the post surgery weeks. -
Plain protein powder

I can't live without my Genepro unflavored protein powder!!! -
There are loads of ways to get good Protein in. If you eat meat, poach a chicken breast, then puree it. Thin it down with low sodium chicken broth. GENEPRO (which I am not a fan of) and Isopure make unflavored whey. I add it to Soups, coffee, tea, veg. broth, yogurt, etc.... 1 Scoop of Isopure is 26gms of protein. I think there's another brand of unflavored whey, but I can't recall it. I also like Isopoure teas in the RTD bottles. One bottle is 40gms of protein and that counts towards your Fluid intake. I split one bottle into thirds and add it to my 20 Water bottles. 3 of those a day and I've gotten in my fluids AND a good portion of my protein.

Isopure and GENEPRO both have unflavored varieties. I use Isopure. It's not 100% flavorless, not are. It's just there are no added flavorings and sugars. it's just pure 100% whey isolates. For me the taste is minimal. I add it too coffee, tea, Soups, yogurts, etc..... If you buy it, keep your receipt. If you don't like it you can return the unused portion. -
Desperate for help re: eating

That is crazy to be that rigid. That need to work with you. As you said ti makes no sense to drink a shake if you cannot keep it down. You need nutrition. Start trying things. There are the savory Protein soups, GENEPRO, Isopure and a few other brands makes unflavored protein powder that you can mix into cream soups and broths. I am not one for going against doctors wishes but you need to stand up for yourself in this case. -

Genepro protein from Amazon. Mix in any thinned cream soups or sugar free jello pudding. -
When are you eligible for a fill again? Hope that you are able to get to the green zone soon so you are not battling the appetite monster. The links below in my signature really helped me; maybe they will help you, too. Best wishes! Oh, and I have been an exerciser for years but it turns out I was just shy of what I really need in order to "get there." Maybe add a little time and see what happens? Love the Protein first remark above. I have been occasionally using GENEPRO protein powder which is tasteless, a powder which I can add to my yogurt or whatever. Note yogurt is a slider for me unless I have mix-ins, like walnuts, a little gluten-free Cereal, etc. I need something to chew on in order to achieve satiety (again, links below helped me understand all of this). No sliders, that's my rule. My other rule is eat when I'm hungry and don't eat if I'm not hungry. I never eat Breakfast now -- all that most important meal of the day blah-blah-blah. That's over for me.

@@nancynew have you tried GENEPRO? It is a "tasteless" powder that has 30g of protein for just 1 tbsp. I start my day off with it mixed with decaf coffee and a little SF creamerHello RosemarySo I put Genepro in my decaf coffee this morning. Along with my creamer and it was so good. Blended well , didn't even know it was in there. Have you tried putting Genepro in other things ? I was wondering if it blends well in cold or room temperature foods / drinks. I drink v8 juice , gonna try it in that later today. My NUT said should be whey isolate Proteins. I don't think Genepro is an isolate. I'm going to take it with me to my NUT appt on Monday. She what she thinks. I've read that their claims on product information isn't what it really claims to be. But that's just what I've heard and read. Definitely don't take my word. Research it and show to your dr... That's why I didn't even bother with buying it....I told my NUT that I was using it every morning and she said that she knew of it. I didn't really get the impression that she had a negative view on it. But, I may have to do more research.Well it the best I can do right now. Genepro or no protein. Something better then nothing. At least getting protein. I appreciate you sharing. ???????? -

Genepro is the best I've found so far. I mix it with my decaf coffee and a little sugar free creamer every morning and get 30g of protein right off the bat! -
Definitely getting at least 64oz water daily. At least 60g protein too. I got sick of protein shakes, So I add a scoop of genepro to my morning yogurt, I buy the Chobani Flips, they're soo good!! Lunch is usually some type protein, sometimes as simple as cottage cheese with fruit, or chili. I sometimes buy a grilled chicken wrap from Wendy's and just scrape out the insides and eat it without the tortilla. I also use Pure Protein, protein bars. Higher protein and low sugar. I usually eat 3-4 times daily, sometimes a snack of cashews.

Genepro is the best for what we need, has 30g in a Tbsp. it's pricey but worth it. Regardless of what they say it is not flavorless! I taste something & it changes food texture. Melts best in hot tea. ???? -
