I do enjoy Virginia. It is a wonderful place to live! The laws here are pretty screwy but you have to take the good with the bad. I moved here from Riverside, California in the early 90's and don't regret it. Sourthern Ca is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there again if I can help it! Born and raised there, I had enough of So. Ca. to last a lifetime. Northern Ca reminds me of here though, I would go back there! So, I just called my Surgeon's office and left a voicemail for the coordinator to call me back because I feel like I am off-track. I need to regroup and keep my eye on the prize, so-to-speak. With Norfolk Surgical Group, you are required to go to 2 Support groups before you can be scheduled for surgery. They happen on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. My Surgeon is booked until June, but I fear that I won't be able to get banded until July at this rate! My new-year's resolution was to have the surgery and lose 30 lbs., by independence day. At the time it seemed very realistic! It's looking less and less realistic now. I am so sick of yoyo dieting. I am a very strong person and would stay on a liquid diet for a year if necessary. I was on slim fast for years and also California Slim and a few others so drinking my meals is certainly nothing new to me. What brands have you found helpful so far as the shakes go? What is the name of the liquid protien Suppliment that you like? Have you found that it affects your Bowel Movements negatively? Please share your info and I am not one to say 'that was TMI' - there are not many subject that I find Taboo. Thanks in advance for your suggestions! Alison:hungry:

port, pain, swelling - gas?
Pangaeus replied to dhall111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, mine too on the left side. Two weeks out though and it is feeling alot alot better in terms of the sharp pain, so I would just give yourself some time. Seems like alot of people start to feel much better at the 2 week mark. Today though I had lots of gas...could be becaue I started a job and now just have the 30 min to eat, so I prob ate too fast. (TMI warning)...When I was finally able to take my 15 minute break, I took a walk by myself and had the most amazing loooong farts. I felt so much better after that. :-) -
What is the strangest, weirdest, or most unexpected thing to happen to you after having the sleeve? I'm looking forward to reading about peoples experiences. No such thing as TMI here either!

Howdy! School and 4H has kept me so busy - I have to try and remind myself to post here once in awhile! I am so glad to be posting on the "success Stories" forum.... Want to hear of a great NSV (nonscale victory!)? - kids went on a canoe and kayak event with 4H, my eldest didn't have a partner...so I did it! I climbed in both a canoe and kayak - and didn't drown us! I paddled and had a blast! I NEVER would have attempted that at 300 pounds!!! I am continuing to slowly lose weight - I still weigh every morning, and I really shouldn't. I know the long tern will be in a down direction!! I desperatly need to go clothes shopping - my panties are baggy ooops - sorry if TMI! I feel better overall, still struggle to drink what I should.....it's hard. Hope all is well with my other sleeve buddies!!

Hey guys, I just started me Pre Op diet today and while at work I was so dizzy and shaky I couldn't focus at all. I work with Diabetes patients and thier Insulin Pump Therapy devices, not being focused is not an option for others as well as myself... So I called my Short Term disability people and asked to move my start date to today and then 2 weeks after surgery ( nov 28th is surgery) ... she said it was fine as long as the MD was ok with it... I email the MD and will see what he says. I explained it all to him and hopefully he will put in my records that its up to me what I can handle. has anyone does this before? just curious if your md agreed to it. i dont see how it would hurt him.. plus I will be more successful at home concentrating on changing my life before the surgery and to get my family in order. not to mention the diarreah that comes with drinking only liquids...TMI i know but its real life stuff here...:-)

Hi All, I almost feel like a cry baby writing this. Today makes it exactly 2 weeks since my sleeve surgery. I have been reading enough on this board to kinda know the emotions to expect. I weighed today and have not lost a pound since Wednesday. I am okay with that. I did a self-check and realize that I am not getting enough Protein in everyday (fluids probably around 40-45 ounces). I stocked up on some (what used to be delicious) whey protein that is 52 grams of protein per 8 ounces. Now I can’t stand the stuff. I mean every day I try to get at least half of it down, but it just makes me want to vomit (TMI?). I plan on buying an ice cream maker (recommended by Eggface) to see if that helps. I have been working out on Your Shape Fitness (Xbox Kinetics) for about 15 minutes a day and doing so very lite weight lifting (mainly for my arms while watching TV). 15 minutes is all I have in me with no food. I was thinking about stretching my full liquid stage out for 2 more weeks, but I don’t think I can do it without some good protein options. Maybe I should end the full liquids on schedule and stretch out mushies? I don’t know anymore. I am very happy for the weight I lost so far. I started this journey at 279 and I am now 255. So its progress. I am just in need of encouraging words. These emotions are taking a toll and I am trying to stay strong. I keep telling myself “Anna you’re new to this.” “Anna you can and will do this” but its getting harder. Thanks for letting me vent. Tears and all, I have no other choice.

I may have my period at the time of surgery.
Brandy~ replied to ja4332's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on my period so I told the nurse. Right before they wheeled me into surgery they had me use the restroom to use a new tampon. Sorry for the TMI. They gave me the option of the diaper or new tampon.. I didnt want a diaper lol -
Well just an update. I went to my post op checkup on Wednesday 26th (was banded on the 18th). And she told me to take the full dose of milk of mag that nite, and again in the morning if nothing happened. Well i was able to manage to go that nite and have gone once a morning since then. Not very impressive, but its something. (hope that wasnt tmi). I didnt have an explosiojn or anything.

No, the real question is who actually says "titties"?! My pannus is there, but not like a sailcloth. It ends ABOVE my err... girl area. But it's also not completely deflated yet. I don't get lesions there, honestly, because I swipe it with deodorant. If I didn't, I would. My bellybutton is causing me major problems. I can seriously take a qtip, stick the whole thing into my bellybutton, and never touch the end. It's like a freaking bottomless pit. Lately it's been prone to irritation and I'm guessing some kind of yeast infection or something because - "TMI" - if a freaking qtip can't get to the end of it, how the heck can I keep it completely clean? A turkey baster?! I'd love to have plastics. I have the means to have plastics. But it's scary. Kudos to anyone with the cajones to go through with it. The other angle... I'd probably have a tattoo by now, except every bit of line that was crooked or not exactly what I envisioned would bother me. Honestly, lots of people who have plastics are so freaking lopsided or indented or whatever. Granted, I look like a damn used rubber full of quarters. But I'm proportionately & evenly gross. I don't know how I'd react to something like one hip being higher than the other, and some weird indentation on my thigh, etc. And really, I just don't like pain very much.

Yes, I scar very very easily As for keeping them out of the sun, well that shouldn't be a problem. Although DF and I do belong to a nudist group (sorry if TMI) and there is a party on the 4th, I don't intend to be barring all this time. And when I am out in the sun, I use an SPF of 45 ... don't laugh ... it's what I need ...

The dumbest diet you tried?
manibeaux replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
***TMI ALERT*** Oh, I've done all sorts of stupid diets but the worst, hands down? The Alli pills. The idea is that the pills soak up all the fat you eat and you, um, excrete it rather than your body absorbing it. If you ate too much fat you would have an accident. So that was supposed to encourage you to stick to a low-fat diet. Well, of course we all know low-fat diets don't satisfy you so eventually I would slip up and eat something with too much fat in it. At the time I worked at a high-end corporate law firm and being unable to control my bowels was NOT an option! And! I was pooping ORANGE! After one too many pairs of ruined panties I threw the damned pills away. -
Hydroxycut....it makes you loose. But oh man, its expensive, made me feel like i was wired on coffee, and made my (TMI ALERT) poop black. Not to mention i gained all my weight plus 10lbs when i stopped taking them.

Poop (Literally, and TMI, obviously)
twinmomma replied to sonnysun's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I'm thinking so though not sure to what. I have some flax seed I think I'll have to try it and see if it helps. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a constant feeling in my bumm of needing to go. .. I know TMI sorry lol -
Pre Op,surgery Is April 24Th,scared
Jim1967 replied to latisanava's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sasha pretty much hit the nail on the head. I am 5 days post op and a terrible food addict. So far no cravings or desire to really eat at this point although I must admit the KFC and BK commercials are starting to get to me a bit. I feel great but I must admit the gas pains were rough and I had bouts of diarrhea (sorry for the TMI) but it appears that has all passed (no pun intended) now. You can do this!! Use this group and don't be afraid to post anything that's on your mind. Good luck. -
Sinus infection and antibiotics (TMI)
Quest4TheNewMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm battling a lovely cold which has turned into a sinus infection, so I'm on antibiotics. I never really noticed any digestive "complaints" from taking antibiotics pre-op, but it's a whole new ball game now... Ugh! It almost reminds me of the pre-op bowel prep (sorry, TMI!). Anything I can do/take to help reduce the effects? -
Ok, so I had surgery on 9/21/09... and finally after 8 fills, I am feeling restriction... but yakking (sorry, TMI) a lot of my food up... I am sure that it is due to not having any restriction at all prior to this. I guess I am looking for guidance as to what I should be doing, because I have been kind of half-*ssing it at this point because I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted (there are a few foods I couldnt get down previous to this fill). Interestingly enough, I should have had 7cc's in my 14 cc band and the Dr was stumped as to why I wasnt getting any restriction. So he removed the Fluid which only amounted to 5cc's when there should have been 7. He said it was possible that he had missed on previous fills (which take about 7 stabs for him to find the port) so I am kind of peeved that I paid for 7 fills which really only yielded 5 fills. Anyway, any help is much appreciated!

Ok Tmi But I Need Help
LosingItForMe2011 replied to roxyraquel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to say mine was pretty dark. I also had to take Colace the first few weeks. Never TMI in this place to me. Heck we all go through some weird stuff and it helps to know it's "normal" with this surgery. OH I was bruised for weeks after all those heprin shots. They did two in my stomach and I finally asked them to give it to me in my arms instead. I had 4-5 bruises on my arms that lasted at least a month! -
Yep, it is normal. The hard part for me was, when my body decided it had to go, it meant it was ready to go right now!! Making it to the bathroom was tricky at times for me during that period of time. I know, I know, TMI!

I know this may be tmi but I was sleeved 1/23/13 I've lost 89 pounds but 2 days after I was sleeved my peroid started and I had my peroid all the way till april 12th that was the longest 3 1/2 months of my life. My ob said it was from my hormones and the weightloss. I was even on the depo shot to try and stop it. They finally did a d&c to make it stop. But from what I hear this is normal. That was the worst part of this whole adventure. But I don't regret it. Has anyone else had this problem?

4 Days Post-op...Feeling Fabulous
My Big Day 3/15/2011 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I want to give hope to the others of you about to go in for surgery. I had a rough time with nausea the day after my surgery but then it started to subside on Thurs morning and today I have had none. I walked for 45 mins twice, once outside and once on the treadmill. I also walked the dogs with my hubby for another 25 mins. I went shopping at Target and to the park with my son. I also did light cleaning and took two showers. I am not dragging around and am on the full liquid stage and the liquids are going down pretty good...just sipping them all slowly. I met my protein and fluid goal for the day and am very pleased with my progress. The pain is very little, only some at the largest incision on my left side. I expect that tomorrow I will feel even better and plan to go to the gym and to a birthday party in the afternoon. I had a bowel movement this morning after my first protein shake and it was completely liquid and came in spurts...I know TMI but lots of you worry about when to expect this. I am not weighing until I see the surgeon two weeks from now b/c don't want to know if the IV fluids put weight on me. Overall I would say I am a success story already and I hope other people have experiences similar to mine. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Also...have to mention a wonder drug I was given for nausea called Emend...it is awesome. It is usually given to chemotherapy patients for severe nausea and my surgeon ordered it for me preop and postop...its the bomb! -
Ooooh. Ok. lol My band and I make a good team. People do need to do their research. I research everything, even the antibiotic I was on when I had a URI and the color of my snot that I couldn't stop blowing out of my nose! (A little TMI?! lol) I just feel if someone wanted a quick fix, they should have went with the bypass... that's just me though.

First Menstrual cycle...Help
BillOh replied to davidsmom08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about the TMI, a lot of us have information we can share/ask about since we have a common experience, but that said, perhaps you haven't found the sub forum for women where you may get other answers. I didn't discover some of those sub forums till I'd been here several months. I just didn't scroll down far enough. -
Anyone wear skirts now but didn't before??
tapshoes replied to Christal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Egor! I have always had curves (TMI alert - I had 'the girls' WAYYY before other females my age). The difference is now the waist is starting to curve IN not OUT. Skirts - I always have worn business suits with skirts. The difference will be that I will won't be wearing as many 'long-cover-a-multitude-of- thighs' ones, but rather shorter more form fitting ones. At least, this is the plan when I am closer to goal. Bathing suits -oh Hollyncharm, how I hate the bathing suit shopping. I always purchased mine on-line so that I never had to go into a store and have the post-humiliation melt-down in public. I am HOPING that as summer and my goal weight draw closer, my weight/shape will be more conducive to going into a store and trying one (or 10) on.
