  1. 31 pounds - you are doing awesome! Are you noticing differences in your clothes? And you are in onederland! Has it been a while since you've seen those numbers? Man, I can't wait to. I know you're having a really hard time, and it sounds simply like it's awful right now. Have you tried many different types of shakes? Drinking faster/slower? Are you getting in Water? When I start getting low blood sugar I start feeling nauseous about eating. Are you getting enough in? I'm sure it's tough with the nausea. Are you prescribed anything for nausea? Maybe your doctor can send you in a script for something. I agree with others that maybe you should get your blood work checked. Also, are you on a PPI? I'm not sure if acid can cause nausea, but it seems like it's possible. I admit, even 5 weeks out I'm freaking exhausted often. I am getting all my Protein, water, etc, and I feel simply beat at the end of the day. But I try and remind myself that I will have energy once I am further out, eating more, and healthier. There was a time when I was stuck on my 3 week stall that I started to regret it, but now that I'm losing again, it was totally worth it. Most of all, you rock. You are strong for getting this surgery and for going through these hard times and when you come out on the other side you will be so proud saying to yourself "I MADE IT" So keep up the great work, see if you can get something for nausea, and hang in there.

August post op sleevers: Check in

I was sleeved on August 12th. Lost 21 lbs so far but that was the first 2 weeks. I had the 3 week stall as well. I think stepping on the scale constantly wasn't helping either. But the good news is... I've never lost 21 lbs EVER!. I'm feeling good. I had a post op appt. yesterday and I can now start stage 5 - chewable food! I'm kind of scared. I dont want to gain. Still today, I kept it to yogurt, a Protein shake, refried Beans with cheese, applesauce and water. I am not getting the 60-80 grams of protein needed but my doc said now that I can eat regular food, I should be able to. We'll see. I just can't fit all that food in. I'm so glad I had this surgery. The one thing I hated was pureed foods!! Ick!! But I knew it wouldnt be forever - Thank GOD!! Best of luck to all of you

Just broke 3 week stall & scaled moved! HW 286 SW 245 CW 173
  4. Hello everyone. I read the forum daily, but never post. After an incident last night, I felt compelled to. A little about me: I'm 34 and was sleeved on 12/16/15. My SW was 295 and CW is 271. I had my surgery through True Results. I had been depressed lately because I went through the 3 week stall. I really wanted to talk to others that knew what I was going through. So I planned on going to True Result's once a month support group meetings for guidance and support. I live with my cousin who had the lap-band 5 years ago, but it didn't work so well for her. She decided to have a sleeve revision when I had my sleeve. I asked her if she wanted to come to the support group at True Results with me and she said yes. We went and when everyone introduced themselves, I realized that I was the only person who had the sleeve. They were so anti-sleeve and found myself defending my choice all night. I heard things like "with the sleeve you gain all of your weight back after a year", "the enzymes grow back within 6 months to a year, "the sleeve is too invasive", and "the science proves that the lap band is superior". I felt vulnerable already because I feel like I'm not losing like I should, especially after my 3 week stall. They just made fun of me for whining about not losing weight fast enough. They were even rude to my cousin because she wanted the revision. I left even more discouraged than when I came in. Three of the women monopolized the discussions with any and every thing that popped into their heads. I was only able to speak during my introduction. I didn't want it to be all about me, but I didn't feel like I could get answers or just let how I felt out. We are all there for the same reason. Our surgical methods are different, but that shouldn't have mattered. Rants over. Thanks for reading.
  5. Onederland!! For the first time in over ten years.....I am under 200!! It feels amazing!! Its been 8 weeks since surgery. I have lost a total of 40 pounds! If you wouldve asked me 4 weeks ago if it was worth going through the surgery...i wouldve said hell no. I had an issue where they thought my sleeve was too small. I couldnt hold anything down. They wanted to go in and "balloon" my stomach in order to stretch it. I decided not to do that and pushed through it. Im so glad i did. Eating is much easier and im losing the weight despite a 3 week stall! I just have to keep reminding myself that IT DOES GET EASIER. Just like veterean sleevers said it would. Pics to come later!

    Lower Abdominal Pain

Thanks for the feedback! You're gonna laugh, but I took some Mylanta Gas after supper and have felt TONS better!!! And I've read about the dreaded 3 week stall, so I feel much better about the situation. I'm still going to try to get into my doc this week rather than next. Also, the location of the pain wold be around my ovaries, but the pain is not cramp-like. Doesn't feel like a woman issue. And I'm on YAZ so I rarely have periods. I have three more pink pills before I start my white pills this month. So we will see if I'm better tomorrow! Louisville, KY ~ RNY June 24, 2013 ~ Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

    Almost 70

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a horrible stall. But I congratulate you on your positive outlook. It is so true that if weight loss is this hard WITH the sleeve I can't imagine what it would be like without it! No wonder I was never successful before. I can't imagine what you're going through. I was about to pull my hair out after a 3 week stall. They are so frustrating. To break mine I changed up what I was doing. I stuck to my Proteins and Water and changed the type of exercise I was doing. The weekend before my stall broke (I weigh in on mondays) I visited some friends and I had a "carb" day... meaning that I focused on proteins but I didn't worry about the ice cream scoop I had or the cookie I had. I needed the break mentally. My sleeve let me be normal without worrying about going crazy. The next day I was down 4. I definitely don't go carb crazy to lose the weight, it normally wouldn't work. It could've just been the mental sigh of relief over the weekend that caused it, I really don't know. No matter what, stalls are tough. Focus on all of those wonderful NSV's and your muscle tone and your body and relax knowing that your sleeve will take care of you. Also, your scale stinks lol! Leave it alone for awhile. ((hugs)) good luck!
  8. Sleeved on 4/22 down 30lbs. Seem to have hit the dreaded 3 week stall. Having a hard time getting in my protein and eating too fast. I get the hiccups a lot, because of it, so trying to slow down!
  9. I am so glad that I read this message. I am currently going thru the "3 week stall". I was so scared that I was doing something wrong! *Whew* what a relief! I lost 35lbs pre op. I had my surgery on 3/5/12. I have lost 15lbs post op, but hadn't lost any for the last 2 weeks.
  10. Y husband was sleeved and I don't remember him going through this. But I'm also constipated and due for my period so I'm wondering if gaining weight would be normal? I have gained 8 lbs

    3 wk post op

Maybe you are at the dreaded 3 week stall period? I haven't got that far but others have said that is around the time for a stall.
  12. You look amazing!!! Any tips? What have you been doing to make your weight loss awesome like it has been?I've done a lot of walking! At least 3 miles a day 5-7 days a week (depending on weather). And I've stuck with the plan, mostly Protein foods. I rarely eat any carbs (mostly a cracker to go with my cheese snack or a slice of whole grain toast for Breakfast (this is rare). I don't think I get all my protein in - that's a daily battle. I'm going to try going back to my Protein shake though and see if that helps. Loved them before surgery but afterwards I couldn't stand them. I never had a 3 week stall. I stalled one time for 10 days (due to weather and other things I didn't get to walk a lot which didn't help). But I also know I've done some things not right - occasional glass of wine - so I'm far from perfect. I honestly think I've just been very very lucky. Thanks for the advice!!!
  13. It is going great. The first week is not a whole lot of fun. Had quite a bit of muscle pain at the large incision site, but that mostly went away after 10 days. The first day home is the worst as you have to drink these little itty bitty cups, think child liquid Tylenol cups, every 15 minutes and keep a log of it. It is tough to get your fluids in at first. By day 7 I could drink as much as I want. The only time I really know I have been sleeved is when I eat/drink food/soup/chili that has solid pieces of food. The restriction is real and I can eat maybe 5 ozs of food. We went on vacation last week and ordered a large pizza for 4 of us. I ate the cheese and sauce off the top of one slice and was full. I used to be able to eat the whole thing myself! The only residual effect of the surgery I still have is that I sleep A LOT more than I used to. I used to sleep 6-7 hours a night and now I am at 8-9 hours per night. My doctor says this should resolve itself in the next month or so. The good news is that I am losing an average of 5 pounds per week. I lost a lot at first, hit the 3 week stall, and then started losing again after 10 days. I bought a belt in March that I could barely get to the first notch and now the last notch is too loose. My waist last Xmas was 48 inches and now is close to 40. Knee pain/back pain? Good bye! High blood pressure? Good bye! Airplane travel? I fit easily into my own seat now. Amusement park? Riding with kids with plenty of room for the bar to come down. My goal weight is what I weighed when I got out of the Army in 1997. As things are going now, I should be at that goal in late September. There is NO way I could have done this without the sleeve procedure. The sleeve can be very frustrating at time, my head hasn't gotten the message that it can't gorge on food anymore. I almost put myself back in the hospital with dehydration due to eating atkins bars with sugar alcohols (I have become SUPER sensitive to sugar alcohols, I had serious dumping syndrome). It takes a serious commitment, but for me it has produced the results as advertised. Best of luck to you!

    Not losing

First you have likely come in to the very common 3 week stall. Just stick with the program and stay off the scale for a week. Second your NUT should NOT be giving you goals like that. I never lost more than 10 to 15 pounds per month and at one year post-op, I am down 120 pounds from surgery day. It adds up. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Weight loss stall

Google the "3 week stall". It's normal.
  16. I wanted to add, I just went through that 3 week stall. I expected it from reading this site. I did measurements instead. I stayed at the same weight for two weeks. However, I dropped a combined 3 1/2 inches inthat time. All of a sudden this past week, no joke, I have dropped 8 pounds. So just don't keep looking at the scale. It will happen.
  17. Hi! I'm from the Maryland Heights area. I was sleeved on 6/8/16. My doctor was Chris Eagon. I'm at the 3 week stall. The worst thing that I'm struggling with is constipation. HELP! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

@@theantichick you make several good points, but as one of the "vets" I don't really see the in fighting. I suppose I miss alot of the drama...and I guess don't notice this because I don't read posts about straws, soda, and the 3 week stall. It's better that way. 19. I had surgery 8/22, so almost 4 weeks out. I spent first 2 weeks loosing 9lb IVgain! Then spent 3 more days dealing with a blockage nothing by mouth and More IV fluids. Since surgery I am a total of 12.5lb down and scale has not moved in 4 days, but,.. it’s all good! I’ve been working on my head and I’m in a good place! This stall coincided with me starting more full fluids...full soups with soft veggies. So wondering if the infamous 3 week stall is really just food progression and body adjustments? Anywho, I’m embracing my stall cuz guess what...this is not a diet! My body is waiting for me to get frustrated and stop but there is no stopping, I’m playing for keeps! It is well! 😊💕
  20. Hair loss has hit here too. Comes out like I am shedding excessively. No bald spots (yet) I am bummed that I am in a 3 week stall. I dropped 3 lbs two days ago and got excited but those 3 lbs came back this morning. I am trying all the change ups to trick my body but no luck yet. I am 1/2 way to goal so I am still a very happy sleeve buddy!! Sleeved jan 10th with 100 lbs to loose.

    OCTOBER 2014

@@Beni I have been reading the message boards and a lot of people talk about the 3 week stall. I feel like I've slowed down too! I don't know how much I've lost other than the two week weigh in. Hang in there! Maybe call your nutritionist? I see mine next week.

    September Surgery Buddies!!

I'll echo what others have said: the 3 week stall is REAL. There are THOUSANDS of posts here from folks who stall somewhere between week 3-6 for 1-3 weeks, sometimes more. Your body is likely rebounding from surgery and catching up with all the changes. Give it time, be patient, stay the course, follow your plan. It won't last forever, and it will happen again. Its all just part of the process. If its taxing you mentally, maybe take a week or two break from the scale. Take body measurements for a couple weeks instead, or use photos to track progress. Remember that the scale is only ONE measure of progress, other things can be just as valuable. Lastly, a TRUE stall is generally considered 3+ weeks; 4 days is absolutely nothing. You're right where you're supposed to be!
  23. Many people on here have said they are weighing heavier after their surgery and say its because they are pumped full of water to hydrate them for the weeks after when its tough to drink for many. So you are really lucky that you have no issues there. Water can weigh heavy so just give it time and this will pass! You feel like you are failing., Please don't. How many calories a day are you logging ? If you could have compared yourself to me at the same stage, I was lucky to get in 300 a day. I was so ill. My body was hanging onto every calorie it could get hold of. People were racing ahead of me BUT, in the end it didn't matter, as I healed my weight dropped. I got to where I am now happy with myself. Listen to the nurse, give yourself 6 months to a year to do this. Its not magic. You have to put lots of effort in to get to the weight you desire. You may also be in a early version of the dreaded 3 week stall. Hang in there and keep away from the scales if you can.

5 weeks post op weight gain

Not to ask for TMI but you may be experiencing some constipation. Our bodies can hold like 8 lbs of waste and if you just started eating solid foods, that could be the reason. Keep up your Fluid intake and things will move along including the needle on the scale. Oh, also search around this site for the "dreaded 3 week stall". That should at least alleviate any fears you have about this because it's perfectly normal and almost everyone goes through it.

August post op sleevers: Check in

I noticed a few of you, like me, are having the dreaded 2-week or 3-week stall. I just wanted to say there is light at the end of the tunnel!! My stall occurred 10 days after surgery, not even 2 weeks! And it just ended this week (down 1.4 lbs today). The stall lasted 17 days. I just wanted to let you know, what everyone says (and your Dr says) about just keep following your diet, Protein, fluids etc...is true. Your body eventually recovers from that initial shock of losing so much, and you start losing again at a slower pace. Other suggestions...my doctor recommended to make sure I'm getting my Vitamin B12 weekly, and to switch up the calorie intake and exercise from day to day, to keep my body guessing. So I focused on that this past week...700 calories one day, 1000 the next, 800 the next, and I tried yoga, elliptical, hiking and just normal walking (not cleared for heavy exercise yet). Good luck everybody, may your stalls be over ever so soon!
