It is quite a bit, but I don't know how many weeks you are at or what surgery you had. I could kind of see that much if you are VSG (different sized sleeves variation) and if you ate the refried beans first. But not if you ate the eggs first. Update… I have lost the 5 vacation lbs as well as 2 extra this week. This breaks the stall I was on before vacation. I am so grateful. Hoping to continue on towards my goal. Getting closer, yay!

I had a complication during surgery and my Dr. had to abandon laparoscopic surgery and cut me open. This meant three nights in the hospital. I only took 10 days off of work and do wish I'd taken a few more. -
Hello hope you are all doing well ive been craving sweets and not sure what to do as my doctor said to wait 2 weeks i really miss it any reccomendations for foods i can eat now? Thanks

Hi, glad you’re on the mend. I’m pretty much on my feet now. 2 weeks out now still no hunger sensation so have to get better at getting some food and drink in me. I don’t get any ‘fullness’ either. I just get bored 😐 and manage small amounts of protein shake. What i have loved is I have no pain which i had with the band. Even though i had no fluid in the band, eating always hurt so don’t miss that at all. I will know more about restriction when i introduce ‘normal’ food later in the month I guess. -

I had RNY late in the afternoon on a Monday and went home Tuesday afternoon. I also work a desk job from home but took 2 weeks off, and I'm glad I did. Fatigue was the biggest problem. -

A stall is very common between 3-5 weeks out. If you search this site there are more than 17,000 posts about the “three week stall”. Just stick to your plan and let your body sort itself out. The weight loss will continue. -

I also spent one night in the hospital (sleeve) and took two weeks off from work. I work from home, but that was the right amount of time. I did check email every day the second week off and it was tiring and hard to concentrate, but by the end of the second week I was feeling pretty antsy. When I went back to work I was tired and had to lie down once a day during the first few days, but work was also slow that week so it wasn't an issue (and part of that might have been a bit of boredom). If you have any complications, you might need more, but if money is an issue, and your job isn't too stressful, you could probably do less. Good luck! -

For me the first day was the worst. I had my surgery at 7:30 am and was in pain when I woke up but I said YES to all the good drugs while in the hospital (I was discharged the next day) and only took 3 oxys total after I got home. I was sore for about a week but nothing crazy. It's been amazing ever since! Good luck and congrats on your surgery!! -

I work 12 hr shifts so I have to plan for the whole day. My plan was pretty routine at first. I drink a protein shake on the way to work. My next meal is yogurt with a few blueberries or strawberries. My favorite yogurt is Fage plain greek with one tablespoon (or less) of sugar free, fat free jello pudding powder (white chocolate or cheesecake are my faves) and one packet of truvia per serving. My next meal is the prepackaged flavored tuna mixed with a little fat free mayo and eaten on Crunchmaster crackers, usually about 5. Initially I could not finish all of this at each meal but now I can. Early on my snacks were things that I could eat quick like cheese sticks or beef sticks...things I could carry in my pocket. Now my snacks are those things still but I've added bananas and peanut butter crackers or slices of lunchmeat. Now that I'm 3 yrs out, I don't necessarily have the tuna as much. Often it's left overs from a restaurant I went to or something I cooked on my days off. I work 3 days a week so those 3 days my food plan is easy. I make sure to have variety on my nonwork days. -

I went into the hospital in the AM and was on my way home by 4pm. I took zero pain meds other than Tylenol that first day. The dr actually wrote me off work for a month. Originally it was two weeks but I was having issues with my blood pressure dropping too low. They took me off my meds and I was able to do another two weeks without fainting so they let me go back to work. -

I’m new to this site. I’m 5 weeks out from gastric bypass. I was home within 24 hrs after surgery. Soon after that I was walking around with no issues. Had no pain. The only trouble I’m having is relearning how to eat, I eat too fast or don’t eat enough. Already at the solid stage, finding it hard to figure out what I can eat, if I’m eating too much or drinking too much. -
Hello I had my surgery on 8/16 so far so going a little slower than I expected. Went back to work this week we are going two days a week at the moment. Struggling with trying to eat every 2.5 to 3 hours and taking enough food to make it happen. When warming up fish at work it just smells so loud. Looking for suggestions on what to take for lunch. my surgeon had me on purees before I even left the hospital, so you're probably fine. Most want you to wait a couple of week, but not all. -

1 night in the hospital for me. Went in at 9am Wed morning, and left at 2pm Thur afternoon. I probably would have been fine to go back to work in a week (if it was a desk job). I remember getting super tired really easily with any exertion so anything more than sitting at a desk would have wiped me out. Good Luck! ❤️ -
...muscle weight that is. I'm in the gym 6 days a week. I decided to bulk up because wasn't happy with being slim and slender. I went from 175 to 205 and haven't went up in clothing size. This is the same shirt in both pictures. I love filling out my shirts now..lol.

Emotional symptoms like anxiety. Physically my heart rate increases and I get shaky because of the anxiety. I also feel nauseated. It wasn’t like this a few weeks ago, when I first started eating solid foods. Only recently did the food related anxiety start. -

Every surgeon seems to have slightly different rules for the various diet stages--even the pre-surgical diet. I had to do 1 week of clear liquids, 3 weeks of puree, weeks 4-12 are "soft foods" and then I get to start eating whatever my body will tolerate at week 13. -

No draconian liquid diets for me. My plan started with 6 weeks of puree, which were effectively my eating plan that would start after week 6 just pureed. I've basically been on the same plan day 1 through day 6,763. Good luck, Tek -

I did a soft version of this. I was on the clear liquid diet, and toward the end of the first week I began to feel...well, the best way to describe it is "depleted". Run down, no energy, and feeling physical hunger for something a little more nourishing. I ended up "cheating" and drinking a couple small glasses of 1% milk over the following few days, with no issues. -
Had my post op yesterday and it went really well, the doctor said I’ve lost a good amount since the surgery and to prepare for my purée diet which was supposed to start Monday. I wanted to tell him I felt 100% ready to start the purée but didn’t mention it. I have not been physically hungry, but physically and mentally tired of drinking just liquid for almost 4 weeks. I truly felt ready to try and eat something and see how my stomach handles it. I ate less than an oz, I won’t start making 2-3 oz meals until Monday, but I did snack on very small amounts of puréed food. Part of me doesn’t feel guilty at all because my stomach has been fine and I’ve had no issues with vomiting since the surgery. The other part feels a little guilt because I was supposed to wait a couple more days. I think I’ll be okay tho. Anyone else been through this?

I'm going through a version of this with my "better half"--he was originally planning to have the same surgery after we get married next year and he can be on my much-better insurance. After seeing what I've gone through the last 3 weeks, he has decided it's not for him. He is 6' tall and about 290, and even after me losing 32 pounds already my BMI is still 2 points higher than his. He has a LOT less weight to lose to be comfortable with himself (he has a very broad build and quite a bit of muscle, and feels he would look best around 230) than I do, and I keep telling him that once my diet expands to a point where I can cook for both of us again, the weight will likely come off on its own because of the reduced portion sizes. I've been cranky a lot lately because I can't seem to get anything down--I'm on week 2 of purees and I am so sick of yogurt and shakes, and try as I might unless I'm really forcing myself to eat I seem to keep ending up falling short of my protein goals and am eating way too few calories. He's been very patient with me but anyone would be frustrated by that. -
I'm about 3 weeks post-surgery and every time I see someone eating something I won't be able to have for a few months, it makes me crave it...and it's not the items you'd think. Every time I see someone eating a salad on TV I keep thinking how good and fresh it looks meanwhile I'm over here with my 1/2 cup of plain Chobani like....

Another voice adding to Jaelzion's statement. I'm 3.5 weeks out and can take normal sips and normal bites (not giant "let me hoover up this food" bites like before). I do separate bites by a few minutes.
