    ABC ~ October Chat

Pebbles, my prayers are with you in your healing process. Kristina, you go girl -- sounds like a really fun job. Robin, Bug & GEMom, I hope your knee and ortho problems are resolved quickly. I am a little over 2 months since surgery and 1 month from my first fill. I haven't yet decided when to get another one. I'm losing weight -- slowly, but surely, so I am planning to wait until I stall before I get another fill. I can eat most anything, just less of it. I'm still staying away from most startches, so I think that is helping. I feel good and NSV's are starting -- clothes are not fitting, a few people are noticing, and I feel better! Best to all. Jessica

    Clothing NSV

That is a wonderful NSV. I love "going shopping" in my own closet, lol. Congratulations.
  3. Today is my 4 month anniversary. I wanted to share some NSV's today: 1. I no longer dread family gatherings and being ashamed of my appearance. 2. I no longer "need" a nap mid-day. 3. I exercise every day without thinking of "something" else I "need" to do. 4. I didn't take up more than my fair share of the seat on the airplane and I actually had to pull my seat belt tighter instead of stretching it to the limit. 5. My feet don't hurt after an all day shopping trip and I no longer need to wear lace-up shoes or Teva sandals to endure the day. (a huge difference) 6. I enjoy shopping for clothing for myself. 7. I finally gave some of my better outfits to my DS and she's enjoying them. I finally believe I won't need them any longer. 8. My DH smiles more Every day life gets a little easier with the band. I'm learning how to deal with the pits and let them go. I'm grateful for each day I have this unique weight loss tool. Instead of trying to push the limits, I'm taking care to ensure my band's safety. I'm learning new feelings of satisfaction with food. God knows I'll never have that "full" feeling again. Food is finally taking it's proper place in my life. I'm finding new ways to sooth the savage beast of depression. Life is definitely better for me today than it was four short months ago.

That is definitely an NSV! Woo Hooo! :clap2: And what are your plans for the "now too big" clothes? I hope you are not planning to hang on to them. I've started a box in my closet where all but one pair of the biggest pants are going to go, and when there's enough, I will donate them or have a garage sale. Good job!! Jo Ann

    Clothing NSV

I now have 6 new/old pairs of pants in my closet. They are clothes I was wearing about a year ago comfortably, but had exiled to the back bedroom because they had gotten too tight to wear. Including my favorite jeans! I’m thrilled. I tend to keep clothes that are too small, even before I decided to have surgery, since I also hoped they’d fit again. <O:p Tomorrow, I’ll try some tops to see if any are fitting yet. <O:p
  6. Oh, I am experiencing some NSVs at the moment which have to do with some of my favourite pants. They are linen, cut to be loose, and were kinda elegant. Now it is a matter of crotch management when I wear 'em for they are much baggier than they were before. I love the pants but I love losing weight.

    Shopping!

I know that a number of you lucky Canuckis come down to Toronto to have the operation and to have your fills done. I also read that you like to shop while you are down here in The Big Smoke. Then there is this business of hitting a NSV and as we all know, a lot of those Non Scale Victories have to do with our clothes falling off our backs (or our bums, more like). And most of us who are posting here are women and most women do like to shop. I was shopping in a Winner's store today and I managed to strike pay dirt. This put Green in a good mood. Now it strikes me that it might be fun to have a thread devoted to the subject of shopping, the good, the bad, and the ugly. There is much that can be said about the bad and the ugly, especially when a grrl is not a size 12 or less. Green has been feeling bitter about the lack of choice in interesting clothes in larger sizes for years now. I also have a bone to pick with shoe sizes since I take size drag queen! This is another ugly issue. But I continue to want to shop, and sometimes I find good stuff. It ain't all tears of frustration, ya know. And this is why I thought that this thread might be both a way for us to vent and to have fun. Alors, voila le thread shopping, eh.

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Oooh Yoda, my name looks so good in Green! And you are right but I am blonde inside and out and I still haven't gotten around to it and so I am having to rely on those NSVs. Well, I've been experiencing the good and the bad. The good is that my 2 most favourite pairs of baggy trousers are starting to get a little too baggy. I am now having trouble with crotch management. The bad news is that one of my best friends didn't notice a thing. Finally, after 4 hours he said that he thought that my stomach looked smaller. Initially he had said that he didn't see any difference. My Scottish cousin (who is over for a visit) didn't notice any difference but he tends to march to a different drummer. He did notice the price of the bag I was looking at a Winner's, though! LOL I find myself on a bit of an emotional roller coaster when it comes to dealing with these responses or lack of responses to my perceived weight loss. I was banded on Sept. 7 and when people do remark on my weight loss I think that maybe I might be losing too quickly and that this will mean that I will lose my hair 6 months down the road. On the other hand, when my weight loss is invisible to them I am disappointed too. This is likely how we all feel but I thought that I would mention it.

Hey Two days in a row!! Yee Haw! I figure since I am never going to get promoted, I may as well take a lunch... :heh: Dianne - good to see you... Sounds like you had a great time... Glad your DH is showing his appreciation in an appropriately lavish way. I can't wait to see the rock. Don't sweat the 1.5 lbs. You'll be well rid of that in no time. Just step away from the cookies! Trust me, nobody understands the cookie compulsion more than me. Patty - trepidation is to be expected. When money is tight, it's scary to give it to a stranger in hopes he will help. Everyone is thinking good thoughts for you. We'll get you banded, yet. Hugs!! My boss made a point of telling me that I was 2nd in line for the job and he knows that other opportunities will arise for me in the future. Don't know how much that actually means - but it was a warm fuzzy in the aftermath of the being pissed off. Kat - I can't see my toes, either. I am happy when I look down and my boobs block my belly from view. That was an actuall NSV for me... lol! No need to send the snakes to the gal... It isn't HER fault my boss hired her. Now, if you wanted to ship a few to HIM... lol! How is your daughter doing? Allison - Great to see you! 40 lbs Rocks! Since surgery? or since the Pre-op? I am keeping track of both, since I have been such a flake since the surgery. Seriously - I have only lost 25 lbs since my actual surgery date - but I lost 16 lbs the week before - so 36 lbs sounds better... Hopefully my renewed enthusiasm for (sorry about the E-word, folks) Exercise will help with that. Did you find a new job, yet? Or are you taking a little State Sponsored Vacation? Cindy - thank goodness, it isn't likely that I will be expected to train the gal who got my job - THIS time... but that has actually happened to me on several occassions. My question is: Doesn't the boss have ANY clue how much it pisses you off to have to train the person who got the job you applied for? Or is it some sadistic thing that they do for their own ammusement? Anyway - yes - we plan on going Saturday. Whether we actually make it out of the house or not is always a question, though. If you send me your cell number, I will give you a call. Eileenie - sorry about the shirts. They looked like they had potential. Bummer. Hope Olivia is doing ok. Hugs!! :bounce: Well - lunch is over again. Hugs to everybody else. Hope you post again, soon! Irene

Chris, I thought I was the only one on here that hadn't been filled!! You've done fantastic!! I can't remember, are you working out daily or what? I'm about to start that Tai Chi class tonight and talk with Derrick (the trainer) about getting started on a daily routine or at least 3x a week routine. I'm getting inspired looking at you and everyone else. I also will be going on a cruise at the end of November with 15 other ladies....YAHOO!!! So, I need to start toning. I want to minimize the extra skin syndrome as much as possible. Do you have a lot of extra skin? You are young so it may be elastic enough to just go down on it's own. How's everyone else today? I had a lazy day as Saturday night I went out dancing with some young chicks. My hubby was all for it as he's not a dancer. Well, I danced off some weight, but on Sunday I didn't get my afternoon nap and boy I was tired today. Oh, by the way, they took me to a place that is "big girl friendly". I wasn't interested in anyone cuz I love my hubby, but it was nice to know that I was not being judged harshly for being plus size. I was thinking that soon, I wouldn't be plus size...YEAH!!! As a matter-of-fact, I ordered a swimsuit online for the cruise and ordered an 18 and it fit...a bit tight but will be perfect at the end of November. It was on clearance for 17.99!! That's my NSV for the week!!

Regina--I don't know why you don't drink water on weekends, but maybe you should send us some of that tea your drinking. Those NSV's are amazing. If you can bottle your formula for success, I'd like some.

Happy Monday guys, Well I posted for the October challenge, do have a question though, the 1200 calories, it is UNDER 1200 right? I am getting a fill today and doubt if I can get 1200 in liquids in, but I'll try. OK NSV time: I actually can get into a regular size.........14, WHAHOO!!!!! I can get into the rider's stretch jeans size......12!!!!! I bought a pair a boots this weekend, the tall cute one's, I have never been able to zip them up over my calfs, well I can now..... WHAHOO! Now confession time: How come when I am home on weekends I can't seem to make myself drink water? I either drink tea or nothing. I get busy then forget I haven't drank anything. Whats up with that?
  13. Hey fellow Maysters! here is our new home for the month of October. Geez... October already! Where has the year gone?? Can hardly believe Christmas will be here before we know it! I am hanging tough for now with my band. I haven't lost (or gained!) anything in the past month or so. I go next Monday for my flouro and hope to get back on track after that. I am wearing size 18 for the most part now with some 16's thrown in. Not bad from the tight 22's I was in in May! I have been pretty stressed out in my life lately. My hubby and I are having some difficulties in our marriage right now in addition to his health problems. I think adding to the stress is me wanting a baby (now that my PCOS is totally under control, according to my gyno that I saw last week! NSV!!!) and feeling like I am having to put that on hold because he can't get healthy. I know that probably sounds selfish to some people but I can't help the way I feel. I feel like I have sacrificed so much for him and for him to be pulling the BS he has been lately is huge slap in the face. I just feel very lost and confused most of the time lately. I have agreed to try and work things out with him and see if we can't get back on track. I take my marriage vows very seriuosly and hope and pray he does too. Thanks for listening to me vent. You guys mean the world to me! Peace.

OMG I am so Em BARASSED.... literally the last part...

Keep your tickets! Most of them were probably too drunk to remember anyway! LOL! Think of it as a very firm reminder that you MUST buy new clothes! You are going to lose weight very steadily, so you will need to have the basics in your new sizes...I didn't lose so fast that I felt I didn't get to wear my new clothes long enough...and it's better than losing your pants at a football game! Thanks for the great story, and I do think it's an NSV!

Sorry about the migraine -- it must have been a killer! But congrats on your BIG NSV with the old fave pants, it had to have been a thrill. Congrats also on your scale victory since banding. WTG! Jo Ann
  17. (1) Research the band, but don't spend 3 years researching it like I did. I'd be at goal now if I had just gone on and pulled the trigger. (2) The WL journey is very rewarding. Even if you have 200+ lbs to lose, it's not very long until you start having NSVs and start feeling a whole lot better about yourself. I thought, at 358, that I'd have to get to 199 before I felt better. That's just not true. Every step of the journey teaches me something.

I don't know, I'd call it a NSV myself. I'd personally be thrilled to lose so much weight that my pants fall...lol. Congrats on the weight loss!!
  20. Boo Boo Kitty, I am glad you are feeling better about your NSV now. I agree, this will be one of those funny stories that you tell for years to come! Keep up the good work!!!!

PB is productive burp. Short for regurgitation, only minus the stomach acid, as the food never really makes it to the lower stomach. NSV - non-scale victory.

    weekly update

Okay, so I'm a day late. I just didn't have time yesterday morning for my usual routine. I even had to skip my workout at Curves. :cry I'll try to add an extra one this week. This has been my first whole week with a fill. I don't really feel much restriction. I do occasionally feel a little tightness if I eat too fast. A couple of deep breaths usually clears it right up and I can continue eating without any problems. I"m just going to try to take it one meal at a time and see if I get any more restriction. I'm not sure how long my doctor requires between fills. I'll have to call his office and ask. I've had some good NSVs this week, so overall I'm pretty happy with my band. Also as you can see from my ticker, I now have less than 100 pounds to lose!!:clap2: :clap2:

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Congrats everyone on their NSVs. Somewhere on this site is a clothing exchange if anyone is interested. Cloe, I'm sure your brand new coat would be very much appreciated by someone else who may not be able to afford to buy new clothing every time their weight changes. I am glad that I am able to wear uniforms at work. They are very forgiving, I could probably lose or gain 4 sizes before having to replace them.
