  1. Oh yeah, it's weight related. My former ob who now does natural wellness told me that fat stores estrogen and keeps your system from being able to do what it's supposed to. Need proof? Five years ago, lost 50lbs, got pregnant. 14 months ago, lost 60lbs, got pregnant. There is a natural supplement that I took both times from a company called AdvoCare called Fem20. It's not marketed as a contreception aid, but it sure worked for me. It took me 7 months to get preggers this time. I was on Fem20 1 month. Last time I was on it 4 months and got preggers. Can't remember how long until we did the deed, but I suppose it's ok by now for you.
  2. Hi Everyone, I got my surgery date, January 8, 2009, for RNY. Now I am so nervous, with the holidays coming on, my 49th birthday next week, and then surgery next month. I can't hardly eat! I am losing weight quickly, which would normally be a good thing, but at this rate my BMI will be too low to qualify for surgery! Has anyone else been so nervous that they can't hardly eat??? I thought I would be having the "Last Supper Syndrome" by now and gobbling up food like crazy. Probably by the time I have to go on the restricted two weeks diet I will be hungry as a horse and going nutso every time I pass a fast food joint! LOL!!!! Lisa

How is your weight loss going?

I'm 16 days out and down 21lbs (pre-op appointment weight). I'm 5' tall, SW 213/ CW 192. It's really bizarre going from being a lifelong fat kid to having no appetite. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all, but am very thankful for a second chance. SW: 245 CW: 217 GW: 130ish Realize Band 6/2009, Removed 12/2015 Sleeve scheduled 12/31/16

How is your weight loss going?

Currently going through this now. I had surgery 10/10 and I honestly don't feel the weight is falling off like I hoped. I'm a part of the Bariatric surgery community on Instagram so I get a lot of progress updates from people who have similar surgery dates. I feel like I'm behind the rest of the class. People keep telling me not give up and keep my working hard. Honestly at times I have "buyer's remorse" and feel having surgery was a waste. It is extremely difficult to see the light at end of the tunnel.

How is your weight loss going?

This is the beginning of a long life change. Sometimes you just have to trust the process. Go with what your doc says for 6 months and then reevaluate if things could be changed a little. I'm thinking if we could have done this weight loss by ourselves , we would have by now in our life. It was hard for me to eat differently from how I had, but truly , you can develop new healthy eating habits. Ps water and exercise also seem to be the other pieces of this WLS puzzle. Good luck and keep going!!

How is your weight loss going?

It depends on your starting weight. It is not typical to lose 15-20 lbs only 7-10 days out. I don't think there's a norm. Everyone is different. Don't compare yourself to others - it'll drive you crazy! Congrats on your loss so far - that's awesome.
  9. I had my sleeve mid-October and have lost about a pound a day since surgery. I'm happy with those results, however I know others that have lost 15-20 lbs 7-10 days out. I'm just curious to see what the norm is. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but my weight loss has stalled for over a month now since I moved past liquids. I lost 15 lbs. during liquids, and now only 2 lbs. since then in the last month. I don't understand how I can be eating so much less than before and the weight is still so slow to come off??
  11. I've made it to my two wek-mushies allowed-starting to get hungry point as of today. I had dropped 17 pounds since surgery as of Monday and then did something UBER stupid, I tried mushies early! I had a little over a quarter cup of mashed potatoes that I had (in a retarded attemp to have real food) watered down to the consistency of creamed Soup with milk. Tasted wonderful, but then 15 minutes later I was truly in the worst pain ever. It actually hurt to breath for about an hour before the food passed . When I woke up the next morning I had gained 2 pounds!!! Those two pounds have not left my body, although I have not cheated since then. I haven't gained anymore and I know that my weight will flex from day to day (and weighing myself every morning may not be the healthiest practice) but I just needed to get a GRRRR out of my system so GRRRRR and ugh. I started mushies today and managed a 1/4 c. of refried Beans with some melted cheese for Protein and that lasted until about 10:00 before I became hungry...now I'm patiently waiting for lunch so I can eat because I'm STARVING!! ok my rant is done...if anyone has any words of wisdom I'd love to hear them  Thanks!
  12. What you are experiencing is normal. I once gained 7 lbs in between fills. You will be okay after you get some restriction in a few weeks. Typically 6 weeks after surgery you can get a fill. Good luck.
  13. I know three people personally who gained all their weight back from gastric bypass. Any surgery is what the user makes of it. No matter which wls you choose you have to do the work. Research all options before you choose. Good luck no matter what. Starting weight: 264.5 Current weight 252.6 Goal weight 160
  14. U hear ya! Going through the same thing as you. Sleeved a week or 2 after you. I havent stalled yet (except for 10 days at the start) - down 65lbs and last week gained 3lbs and am stuck on that. Mid-cycle so period isn't coming up. So hard not being disheartened and thinking this is end of road huh! I have slacked on exercise and could do better with water as well.

    Minimize The Jiggle

I don't use stockings or anything like it but avon has these nice camis that come with a girdle. They are awesome. I've bought them in xl n l n as I loose weight I'll continue to buy them. They hold everything in nice and tight in the belly area. Plus they go great with a shirt over.
  18. Wow guys im sending hugs to you. I also believe in the random chaos of the universe connecting one event to another leading us on the path where we happen to be as we are right now. When i won my disability case and the weight just kept piling on i knew. That is why in September i will be going under and hopefully changing my life for the better come what may Sent from my LGLS676 using BariatricPal mobile app

How do I know if my band has slipped?

I hope everything worked out for you. I am sitting here praying my band did not slip though I have reflux at night ...since I got off a plane last week. My doc thinks my band slipped. If you are too tight ....please get fluid removed even just alittle ..you will loose more weight if you do as you can handle veggies better.
  21. I am sitting here on the couch typing away and he starts playing with the skin on the underside of my upper arm. "Stop that!" I say. "But mama, it's funny! It's all wibbly-wobbly and stuff!" He replies as he continues to bat at it like a kitten batting at a ball of yarn. Yep. This is what a 100-lb loss gets ya! LOL That's okay. I'd rather have loose skin on my arms than an extra 100 pounds any day!! What's an embarrassing moment you've had since losing weight?

    Still Debating Lapband Surgery

I don't know about older members, but I have seen time and time again people coming here and to other WLS boards and saying things like: I was going to get WLS a year ago but I got so encouraged by losing weight on the pre-op diet, that I decided to do it on my own. But I gained back X pounds and here I am to finally get it done. I'm really sorry I didn't get it done a year ago. OTOH, I've never seen anyone on a weight loss board say they were going to get surgery but lost weight on the pre-op diet and it's two years later and they are so happy they didn't get surgery. And I'm on a lot of boards where people who haven't had WLS are constantly talking about diet and exercise including a triathlon board where people do lose weight from the training. Personally, I believe that some insurances require a pre-op diet just to get people to change their minds about the surgery and save some money. They know that diets don't work and they know we have a history of dieting without success. There is no clinical data saying people who do these diets pre-op are more successful than those who don't. So there is no *medical* reason to insist on it. It's all part of their delay and deny game.
  24. Top picture is the week before surgery. Bottom two are current photos. Starting weight 277, current weight 182. Total loss of 95 pounds just shy of 6 months. Could not be happier!!
  25. Hi there I had my surgery at Barix in Ypsilanti, MI (my fills will be done at their Holland, MI office, which is much closer for me) My Dr. is Dr. Shramm, and I am really happy with him and the whole Barix setup. Surgeries are also done in the town where I live, but the doctor doing them has only 1 year experience, and Dr Shramm was my friend's doctor 4 years ago. Also, bariatric/LB surgery is ALL they do at Barix (Ypsi is just outside Detroit) so I felt that any potential complication would be in good hands. My insurance requires an overnight stay, and I was glad they did (although I didn't get much rest with the respiratory therapist and nurses coming in every 2 hours!) I was on full liquids for 3 weeks after, then blended foods for 2 weeks, then go to "soft foods" (what you could chew without teeth :eyebrows: ) then regular food. I am supposed to not lift anything over 5 lbs for 3 - 4 weeks, stay out of the pool for 6 weeks, and walk 30 min a day or more from day 1 (I did my first "walk" at Kohls the day after surgery - probably not the best idea) I did go back to work on day 8 - I'm a massage therapist and saw just 1 client - and have had no pain, but did feel very tired for the first 2 weeks. I really had to look down and see the "ruffles" on my tummy (surgistrips, starting to come off) to remember I had something so major done. I'd love to hear your experience with fills, choices of food, and weight loss. I am down about 18 lbs 3 weeks after surgery, and back working pretty much full time (4 or so clients a day, up to 3 days a week) Also, if you had surgistrips, and they have come off - HOW do you get the adhesive off!?? :help:
