I was forced into the gastric sleeve.
psychprof replied to g8edgrl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The quote below appears to be from the same user from about a week ago. I don't have all the information as it appears some posts have been deleted, but unless someone else posted this for her, she seems to be consenting pretty clearly. She also appears to meet the qualifications just fine if she's 230 at 5'2. Something smells funny here.... "I have my surgery scheduled for 1/13/16 I'm excited nervous and grateful over all. I only have to do one week pre op diet and I started that today. I went from planing on getting a balloon, to wanting the lap band, then was suggested the sleve so I just went for it. If my doctor is confident it's the best option for me I trust him completely cause I am ready to TAKE MY LIFE BACK!! I'm 21 years old. I wasn't really too heavy until a few years ago. I'm 5'2 and around 230 lbs. I used to be way smaller but hey I fell in love and my boyfriend and I found time together by eating out together. So here I am! Still in love with the same man but not so much in love with my self. Already I'm missing so much out of life. I turned 21 in July and still haven't celebrated since none of my friends recognize me from the extra weight. I've kinda been hiding away. I was recently diagnosed with pcos, have always had depression but now with horrorible anxiety. So I must say today is the day I change forever so glad I have found this forum with others going through the same thing" http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/358588-Anybody-have-a-surgery-date-of%2E%2E%2E%2E%2E%2Eon-or-close-to-1-11-16%3F/page__view__findpost__p__4046655 -

Why am I always STUCK and PBing?!?!
YngGram replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is something I recently experienced; mostly it was pain after eating. I got my band 3/09 and have lost about 65 lbs. I never met my goal, and there are about 10 lbs. that come and go at will. When I saw my surgeon on 12/5 he must have misread my intake paperwork because when I went into the room he had a syringe ready. I thought he would take out some of the fill I had gotten on 7/30. Since it had been over 5 months I was sure I had done something, or something had gone wrong with the band. He gave me .5cc talked to me and sent me home. I did liquids for a day and I could feel that I was tight. I did small sips of liquids and I did VERY SMALL bites of food, worked at doing only 1/2 c, slowed down time used eating until last week. I now don't feel the tightness and I haven't had any problems unless I forget to follow the guidelines. Funny thing is I lost 8 lbs. in a week that I had been fighting for a year without doing other than what I mentioned. I plan to try a day of liquids each week to see if it will get things going again. -
Nancy - two eggs is a lot for two weeks post op. I'll be four months post op on the 11th and just now can eat two eggs. Since I feel no hunger, it's hard for me to tell when I'm full. My new 'hunger' or what I call hunger, is an empty feeling occasionally. I weigh my meat and measure other stuff I.E. cottage cheese, veggies etc. I can eat a half cup of cottage cheese for Breakfast now, but in the beginning I could only eat a fourth of a cup. It is just 'safer' to measure to keep from over eating. Even now, I can only eat on fourth cup of Pasta with meat sauce, along with one eighth of a cup of cottage cheese. The restriction is GREAT. I love my sleeve. I'm down 68 lbs, 23 before surgery, 45 since. Good luck - and measure/weigh - and don't push it, 2 eggs is a lot, I am sure 1 would satisfy you, maybe less than one right now.

3 weeks post op with a crap immune system.
Linkin posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post op and although the surgery went great, no complications- I keep getting sick. The week after surgery I had a sore throat.. I assiumed it was from the tube and ignored it (they gave antibiotics while in the hospital) On day 8 (from surgery) I went to urgent care b/c my throat looked like cottage cheese (gross, sorry). They said I had strep And put me on antibiotics. Completed those on day 15...then on 17 I started feeling like crud again, I have a cough and I can't catch my breath. I went to my PCP and I have bronchitis. More antibiotics. Anyone else's immune system suck post surgey? -
Hi. I am about 5 weeks out. From talking with my surgeon and research I did, people have issues at 2-3 years due to old habits. They learn how to stretch the pouch and eat poorly again. Like my surgeon and nutritionist say, this is a tool not a magic pill. I wish you luck

I do zumba or some type of dance cardio two days a week, one day 60 minutes on the treadmill at fat burn setting and two days weight training - one is a class using light weights and one is machines. On the day I do machines I do the hour of treadmill as well. So I basically do 4 days per week 1 hour - 2 cardio, 1 fat burn and 2 weight training.

10 weeks and can barely eat
MIJourney replied to Robyn1030's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd check in with your Dr. At 10 weeks out life should be getting easier for you not more difficult. How much are you eating a day? Protein and calorie wise? I've not had any nausea and can eat my serving size of protein. I shoot for 90g of protein and under 900 cals a day and have no problem hitting those numbers. Hope they figure it out for you. -
I'm 10 weeks out and am finding myself able to eat less and less. Still struggling with nausea too. Feeling down.

I I've been stalled for a little over 2 weeks now and I'm wondering if there is anything I could do to get over this hump or should I just let it take its corse?

Too Much Love/Hate
Butterflyhigh replied to GentryGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yep. Total emotional binge eating day for you. It's good that you've identified why you ate like that...now you've got to figure out what to do instead of eating your emotions away. For me, this was one of the hardest adjustments to make in the first 3-4 weeks. I couldn't eat my feelings aways so I had to actually SIT with them...raw and painful and undiluted. I felt lost. Somehow I ended up driving my old 75 Chevy pick-up around the back country roads that surround me. Going nowhere in particular, I would just drive. It was a stress relief. I also found out that jumping up and taking a walk around outside does the same thing. We just need to replace the unhealthy food coping method with a healthy new coping method. Easier said than done.....but it can totally be done. It's Self Love. Show yourself some Love by giving yourself a new skill to lean on. -
Hi everyone, Has anyone experienced any nausea post-op? I'll be 4 weeks out on Friday, been on soft foods since 11/22. Since Sunday I've experienced intermittent nausea during the day. Also more burping than usual. Not sure if it's because I restarted my BC pills Sunday, I stopped my omeprazole around the same time, a combo of the two, or something else entirely. It's more annoying than anything but sometimes if I drink Water it'll spark the nausea.

I've been a bad patient and really only took it consistently for about 2 weeks. Then took it a few times after that but really haven't taken it this week at all because I forget but also haven't had any reflux or anything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Got my surgery date- now super nervous!
GrrlAnn replied to krissee624's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 weeks postop and I also got the last minute jitters. Don't let your nerves at the final hour undermine the weeks/months/years you've been preparing for this. If surgery wasn't a good option for you, you probably would have figured out it long ago. Best of luck!! It's hard work but it's worth it! Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App -
Obesity Control Center In Tj, Mexico With Dr. Ortiz?
DanityChai replied to Finding Myself's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was quoted the same prices as Joyce less than a week ago. I chose Dr. Aceves because he seems to be the expert on revisions. I was banded by Ortiz in 2009 and he is fantastic but for a revision I wNt to go to the best. -
I can out last my 13 year old daughter
grandmaofone posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went to the church to the walking track tonight and my daughter wanted to go, so I said whatever. When we got there she said she had to use the restroom and I went ahead and started walking. I was on Lap 4(16 laps is a mile) and she walked with me but kept telling me to slow down I was walking to fast. She finally gave up on lap 12 and started playing on her iPhone while I finished my three mile walk. That made me feel very good!!! I am 40, current weight 214.4, I have lost 46 lbs to date. I can not Believe that my 13 yo could not hang with me, kinda makes me laugh!! -
So true! I've lost 8 pounds in a week so that has certainly made the liquid life a bit more palatable! Sent from my iPod touch using the BariatricPal App

Questions for longtime sleevers
Autumn-KP replied to Autumn-KP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I took the advice you guys gave me and put it to work these past few weeks, and it really helped me! So here's an update to my issues. I talked to my doctor about the heartburn and he increased my dosage of PPI and I'm doing good now! All of you were on point about pacing my meals, and making more time for myself to eat. I've gotten in the habit of finishing projects/homework, ASAP instead of spreading it out throughout the week and I've gotten a lot of extra time for myself as a reasult. My meals take around 30 - 40 minutes and sometimes I make multiple trips to the microwave to heat my food back up but I've been feeling a lot better these past few weeks. Bufflehead that app idea was amazing, thank you for that. Livvsmum, thanks for the peace of mind. It was really weird to suddenly go from loving chicken thighs, to getting really sick over them. I thought there was something maybe seriously wrong with me, and it got me really anxious. I'm relived to hear it's not just me and others have gone through similar things following the surgery. Anyways, thanks for all the tips, and advice. I truly appreciate it. -
You'll be fine.....you just had surgery under full anesthesia...now you have to let your self heal and get back to normal...you'll be climbing the walls in no time.... For 2 days after my surgery, I became one with my Lazy_boy recliner, a warm comforter, in front of my flat screen TV.... The Mrs. made sure I had plenty of liquids.... I did not skimp on the pain killers either..... Day 3 I had to get out of the house or I would go crazy....but i did tire fast.... One full week and I was back to work, and going to the gym.... This too shall pass.....

True Story "Read with Caution"
allnewme replied to ascooke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me a few weeks before I could drink a shake in one setting. Things are very slow at first and that is OK. I had a really tough time getting any protein in for the first couple of months. The only thing I could get down daily was the Unjury Chicken Soup. It was warm and soothing to drink. My sleeve prefers warm drinks for some reason. I was three months out before I could get much of anything down at one time. I am just over 4 months out now and my labs came by good. Just take your vitamins, rest and drink as much as your sleeve with allow you too. I hope that you get totally better now and have no more setbacks!! -

First Fill today and already hungry??
kbinaz replied to dancinglamb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Fills don't make you 'not hungry'. You are hungry because you aren't eating real food! That's normal! What a fill does is make it so that when you eat you get full faster, then stay full longer. The band is designed to work with dense food - not soft foods or liquids. My doctor makes me go on clear liquids after a fill and it is the worst torture ever. I am supposed to do clear liquids for three days but never make it that long. I do have to be very careful right after a fill though, because of the swelling I can be very tight right at first. So I do soft foods, too, for a few days. It may also be that you aren't feeling much restriction with 4cc's. I needed 7.5 cc's to really have much appetite supression. Hang in there and be patient and schedule your fills regularly until you get where you need to be. You will not be as hungry all the time once you hit your sweet spot.
