Update- defiantly pregnant! Super excited but on the 12th I was laid off from working at the same job for 10 years! Now my mind is racing [emoji15] -
My surgery is scheduled for 10/27/20 and I got Flu vax and Tdap yesterday. But always err on the side of caution and ask your surgeon.

8 months post-op and Preggo, fun times-ish....
BlueBongo posted a topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I was on vacation in Hawaii.. mid-trip felt a bit weird and took a test. Definitely put a spin on the rest of my trip! lol I have/had pseudotumor cerebri with papilledema, which is why I had RNY surgery in the first place. I was down a total of 120 pounds (with 30 more to go) when I got the big news that I didn't anticipate. So I immediately contacted and OBGYN and began figuring out what I needed to do for myself to make sure this would be a healthy pregnancy. I was glad to learn that many of the vitamins I was already taking post-op sort of mimic pre-natals, but I found a great liquid pre-natal and changed my vitamins around a bit. Went back to my nutritionist and am still figuring out my diet, but I log everything and make sure I meet my daily goals. So far everything looks good, baby has a healthy heartbeat at 6 weeks. The doctor said if I follow what I've been doing I will only likely gain 15 pounds or so... hopefully. Just wondering what anyone else's experience with this might be? I've read lots of posts about finding out about being pregnant, but not too much on the journey or how things wound up afterwards for post-bariatric patients. Bad enough my family is scarring me for life thinking about how most babies in my family were no less than 10 pounds at birth..... gotta love family! -

Clear Liquids (SF Jello, SF popsicles, crystal light, broth) 11:00 am - 6 oz. of approved yogurt 12:00 pm - Protein Shake 1:00 pm - 8 oz. skim milk (if not used in protein powder) 2:00 pm - 16 oz. clear liquids 4:00 pm - Protein shake 5:00 pm - 8 oz. clear liquids 6:00 pm - 1/2 cup 98% fat free cream soup 7:00 pm - 8 oz. skim milk (if not used in Protein powder 8:00 pm - 16 oz. clear liquids I am having a little trouble not chewing solid food but the way this is set up, I get SOMETHING almost every hour. Maybe you need more than just Protein Shakes. Good luck to you. -
Struggling with liquid diet

I am with you on this one. I am doing pretty well so far. BUT I am finding I am waking in the night hungry. I have been on it since Tuesday. The weight loss has been great (10 lbs!) but I am quickly tiring of Protein shakes. I still have to make dinner for the family which is hard. Yesterday my kids came home from church wanting to make treats for other families. So...we had brownies AND Cookies in the house AND halloween candy! I did well and didn't have any but it was hard. Hang in there. You are not alone. broth will quickly become your friend. -
My very first every NSVs
Globetrotter replied to Globetrotter's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks guys!!! My laptop decided to give up the ghost so my ability to post anything to the internet is temporarily suspended, but once everything gets figured out I will definitely post a Then&Now. Another NSV this morning - a year before my surgery I had bought a cute t-shirt in the biggest size available from a grocery store in my hometown, it had the store logo and dancing vegetables and I thought it was cute. The biggest size in the women's style was an XL and when I tried it on I could barely get it over my breasts, it felt exactly like a corset, and forget about pulling it down any further. Fellow sleevers, as I write this, I am wearing that shirt with a pair of jeans. In public. =) =) Oh, and I'm down another 2 pounds - I am now officially half way to my surgeon's goal, and 10 lbs from halfway to my personal goal. =) =) =) -
I am drinking isopure(gnc) not so good but 20 oz has 40gm of protein. I am walking with my kiddos and treating myself to a popsicle everynight after the walk and a 1/4 cup of ckn broth 2x a day n jello when I need it. Im down only 12lbs as of 10 mins ago and I guess im considered day f or 6 p/o?

I dont like shakes either but I love the Costco Premier Protien shakes, I still drink them to fill up. I'm only 5 days out (surgery 10/9). Good luck to you!

How long did it take to get your PASSPORT CARD ?
slvrsax replied to Italiancurves's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just had my passport updated to reflect my married name. From the time I mailed it off it took 19 days to get my actual passport booklet back. The passport card came in a seperate mailing about a week later. A month earlier I sent in my bosses' passport for renewal. He used the expedited service and got it back within 10 days. Expedited service is 60 dollars. Does your state offer an enhanced drivers license? Washington does. I don't know about other states. As another poster stated, I believe this mini govt shutdown had an impact on passport services. -
Confused, Scared am I big enough??
banuchi replied to alcon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had all the same feelings that you did and used to joke around with my co-workers that I was going to Mexico to get banded. They always told me that wasn't a joke. My BMI hovers between 30 and 31 (I'm 5 6 1/2 and weigh 211). I do not have any comorbid signs. But mentally, I am as messed up as anyone when it comes to thinking about food. Before my surgery (I'll get to that in a minute) I planned splurges out weeks in advance. If I had a business trip to New Orleans, I knew exactly what restaurant to hit between the airport and my hotel and every moment thereafter. For the last year, I lived the worst of the seven sins gluteny! When I woke up in the morning I planned where I would stop for Breakfast, what I would eat for lunch, dinner and in between. I actually lied. It wasn't when I woke up, it was when I went to bed and then I would think about it again in the morning and throughout the day. My advice. Find the best doctor that is closest to you. The surgery will not cost more than $18,000 and you are worth it. This isn't even the price of a small car! Aren't you worth the cost of a car? Plus, you can't imagine how great you'll feel driving your new body around! In summary, don't go to Mexico. It is not worth it unless you live in Southern California and can go back to Mexico for fills and adjustments. Best of luck. Oh, and I'm not an expert at this at all. My surgery was only 10 days ago, but I feel like the weight of the world (no pun intended) has been taken off of my shoulders. I am worth $18,000! I deserve the best medical coverage and I didn't want to wait until I had comorbid signs! You are worth it! -
Who had the sleeve around March 7th? How are you feeling?
2goldengirl replied to kandiej's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
March 10 for me. I had a rough go at the start, but I'm much, much better now. I'm in the "try it and see" phase with new foods, and fortunately, I haven't tried anything that hasn't worked yet. I really can't handle more than 3 oz max of fish or other dense Protein at a time, or 1/2 cup total per meal. What I'm working on now (in addition to slowly trying new foods) is judging how much is "just enough" in settings where I can't measure or weigh out my portion in advance. It's a really subtle difference, and I find it harder to do when I'm in a social setting with more distractions. -
I bought a tiny crock pot at walmart for under $10. It has been great for cooking small meals.

Exactly 10 days after mine in fact I have an appointment my first follow up appointment that day. I will be sending out prayers for you.

Hi amanda. I am mathmatically challenged, so maybe you can help me. How many pounds is 12 kilos? I got my band on September 19, 2008. I am so sorry that you, and fatmommyslim, are not having the results that you were hoping for. With your 3 fills, do you have any restriction? Many times I don't think real good weight loss begins until you have real good restriction. I hope that things get better for you both - if I can do anything to help, please let me know. I'm certainly no expert, but I am a good listener. Take care!! Becky

I just went today and got a couple boxes of Quest bars. Also they sent me a $10 off coupon for my birthday if I spend more than $10. I have saved a lot since having my card. -
When someone says "You look great" I say "thank you". Before becoming a Vet I would have given a list of at least 10 reasons why they were wrong.

I stayed with my calories between 600 to 800 but closer to 600 per day and my carbs under 20 until I hit my goal weight. I also exercised for an hour daily starting in month 7 (walking 5 miles a day before I started with the gym). I hit goal at by month 10. Starvation mode is a myth, when you have a lot of fat on your body you will convert that fat to energy. Starvation mode will happen when there is no more excess fat to use.

So far it seems mine is any where from 10 to 12 pounds. I was wondering the same thing how much weight lost between needing fills?

You're Getting Skinny! Are people still nice to you?
footballmom104 replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 1/19 and have lost 33 lbs. ... I haven't noticed any differences yet. But I think a lot of "normal" people don't like to see us loose weight because they don't have you to feel superior to anymore. And people who are as heavy or heavier as we are have issues with it because we're breaking the so-called "rules" by leaving the fat thing behind and "abandoning" them. -
